Salt N Pepa

SALT-N-PEPA IN CONCERT:As one of the first female rap crews in history, Salt-n-Pepa became virtually synonymous with the brand of bump n' grind hip hop that dominated airwaves in the late '80s/early '90s. With their stylish image and candid, cheeky lyrics, Salt, Pepa, and DJ Spinderella struck a major chord with audiences that continues to reverberate today at their electrifying live shows. Whether fans are out to hear "Push It," "Shoop," or "Whatta Man," Salt-n-Pepa will deliver all the hits and more on their 2014 tour dates with fellow legends New Edition.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Representing Brooklyn and Queens, Salt-n-Pepa formed in 1985, blazing a trail for women in hip hop with their platinum-selling 1986 debut LP Hot, Cool & Vicious.

I went to see S-N-P and Color Me Badd mainly. But the other bands did their thing well also, especially Klymaxx! Those ladies look amazing to this day and can still belt out 'Meeting in the Ladies Room'. S-N-P were amazing to see live!! They still know how to put on a great show and get the crowd pupmin'! They played all of their hits except for like 2 that I really wanted to hear but oh well maybe next time they come...If you've never had the pleasure to see this influential hip hip group- Do It!! Salt N Pepa Foreva!!!

Overall, the show was great...it was truly a great experience of real entertainment. The old school music brought back so many memories and they know how to entertain the crowd. They still got it and they all look very good...we missed Dougie Fresh since he was out ill but other than that, the show was great!

I loved this show and how loving and laid back it was. All the oldskool beats and songs to sway too. "Oldskool Hip Hop is about the love and God's grace" ~ Kurtis Blow. I truly loved how most of all the artists witnessed and praised GOD. That was such a nice surprise AND that Salt "DARED" us to seek JC. Oh and the chance to give a shout out to our church :) Good Times!

I was disapointed when Doug E Fresh was a no show. I heard he performed in Tennesse the night before and was perfectly well. Does he not like Houston or what? Everyone else did a fantastic job,It brought back alot of memories and when Salt N Pepa came out and Salt said it has been 25 years i was amazed how long we all grew up together and still looking good. Thank you Salt for the praise we had at the end I was going to go out and party but instead I went home to get ready for the next day to hear my pastor speak the word.

The show was absolutely amazing. I would like to give it 4.5 stars because I wanted to see more of Salt 'N Pepa, but overall I had a ball! Everyone put on a helluva show. Even the acts that I was a little hesitant about did a phenomenal job. I thought that I would never ever see Salt N' Pepa and Kid N' Play in concert. When they announced this on the radio, they had me at hello!! If they are coming to your town, do yourself a favor and get your tickets!

This concert was amazing. It's been so long since I've heard songs by the featured artists & it makes you reminisce about where you were & who you were with when you 1st heard the song. The artists did a great job of keeping the crowd hype all night all. I went home with no voice from singing all the songs and sore feet from dancing all night long. This concert is a must see. You won t be disappointed.

Show was good,Salt n Pepa were GREAT!!!,but the host was pitiful and not funny, and just a thought...why pay $35 to $60 dollars for a ticket just to hear a Dee Jay play music for an hour and a half..(show was three hours long),so basically you are paying for a hour and a half of actual performance.

Everyone at the concert killed it!! Kurtis Blow rocked the house, Biz Markie rocked the house! Doug E. Fresh left us wanting more and more and it was so cool when his mom came out. Whodini...o....m..g...they was tearing it up with the dances. Salt n Pepa gave it to us just like we remembered it. I went to go see the concert last Friday and I still don't have my voice back. I took my teenage twins boys and they enjoyed it as well. They listen to the above artist quite frequently. They also took pictures with Ecstacy from Whodini and Kurtis Blow.

It was bad. Except for Color me Bad and All 4 one nobody could sing. Sound was bad. They all yelled in the mikes and needed backup. They didn't sing their own hits and sang covers. They wasted time bringing tons of people on stage. Too disorganized and too much time between acts,. Everyone walked out during Vanilla Ice's act. I went with my high school girlfriend ( we are in our 40's) and grew up on this music. We paid $101 each for the tickets, had an obstructed view due to large speakers on side of stage. We had a few laughs dancing to a few songs, but it as really a huge disappointment.

My girls and I could not wait for a short get away after a crazy year at work. We all grew up listening to this music and were looking forward to a night of dancing and drinks. Coolio opened the show and was amazing! Rob Base made you feel like it was 1990 all over again and Salt N Pepa had some HOT HOT HOT men on stage with them. I would like to know who the saxophone player for Rob Base was, he was GORGEOUS!! Vanilla Ice threw water all over people along with the entire water bottle, he then invited about 50 women on stage to dance along with him. It took away from the show and in turn made people leave before they would have. I am going to this same show in February in Erie Pa, and I hope by then Vanilla Ice has heard how awful of a show he puts on and changes his act!

Salt n peppa were great the crowd interaction was good I had a lot of fun with them. But vanilla ice was by far the best out of everyone. He kept everything interesting he could have done a few more of his own songs but the fact that he allowed people on stage danced sang threw water bottles into the crowd freestyled and had confetti I have to say his concert was the second best I've ever been to in my life! Really hope he comes back soon!!!!!!!!!!!! I will definitely buy tickets if he does. I could have definitely lived without coolio he was boring and barely performed, and rob base was ok but again I could have lived without. I thought the Dj between sets was more entertaining than coolio. Come back soon vanilla!!!!!!!

This concert was all about nostalgia and fun, and to that goal it was a great success. There were no Grammy worthy performances but none were expected. It was nice to see the artists you grew up listening to. Time was kinder to some than others, but for the most part all of the artists put on a good show. Tone Loc and Young MC were out of breath and visibly tired, but then so was I. Salt N Pepa, Kid'N Play, and Vanilla Ice absolutely killed it. Some backup singers and dancers would have been nice but the audience participation made up for some of that. All in all, it was a good trip down memory lane and everyone had a good time.

Each individual artist did pretty good, although there were minimal stage props. However, the transition from artist to artist took too long. The lights would come up and the on-stage DJ would play music. A lot of the artists would do crowd interaction that had already been done. I just don't think that this concert had the funding that it needed to take the tour.

The DJ first of all was fantastic, it had the feel of a party not a concert and the acts were great. Sat and Peppa should have been the headliner without a doubt . They put on a great show. Great Performers. Driving into the area was not organized. There was no one directing you where to go or where to park. Inside the venue the staff did not know where to seat the guests. I suggest you print a picture of where you are supposed to sit at a VIP $150 seat because the staff is clueless. The chairs in the VIP area are numbered out of sequence. I purchased 2 tickets so my wife and I could sit together. The untrained staff wanted my wife to sit at the front of the table and for me to sit in the back. The tables are numbered as follows. As you face the stage Chair #1 is in the front left. Chair #5 is in the front right. The event staff and supervisors don't know this. They must have just showed up off the street I guess. In the VIP section we waited an hour for our drinks. The bartenders were slow and pathetic. They used a measuring cup for their pours. The lines were not cordoned off. Too many lane jumpers going on as the clueless staff looked on. This shows a lack of experience and that the event managers don't care about the lack of organization. I wont go to this event next year hosted my by the sam clueless promoter.

All the artists sang their greatest hits so it was hard not to sing at the top of your lungs to every song. People watching the concert were a fun crowd too. I recommend getting a table. You are close enough and you don't have to stand all day. Just getting seats (without a table) is a little farther back.

The sound was horrible, the lines for food and drinks were ridiculous, and the smoke machines must have been set to "San Francisco" because there were moments you couldn't even see who was on the stage. Salt n Pepa played maybe two-three of their old songs and spent a large part of their set singing other old school songs. Not horrible, but not what I paid money to see. This was my first time experiencing the Howard Theatre although I knew it was standing room only I didn't think it would be as many tables plus it has 3 balcony levels. It was a mixture of black and white folks there and ppl from age 30 to 50 in the house!!! Everybody was partying. The main floor was a nice size allowing move for ppl to dance but I didn't need no extra room cause I was 2 feet from the stage watching Salt -N-Pepa do their thing!! The sound system was good u could hear clearly, no fights broke out and it was an old school hip hop party to the fullest. The show started at 8 on time with a not half bad group opening up but sorry I forget their name. Both Salt and Pepa looked nice as usually and of course the crowd went CRAZY when there dancers put their "Push It" jackets on them and preformed the song. Not only there songs, but Salt-N-Pepa did there skits with there dancers performing old school R&B songs "Scrubs" TLC and "Call Tyrone" forget artist. They even played "Girls just wanna have fun" Cindy Larpur" spell check and brought girls up on stage with them dancing and singing along. They was about 20 woman on stage..Lol. They also did Beyoncé "Run the world,Girls" and this was after saying goodbye giving the crowd the impression the show was over but nope, Spinderella came back out and introduced them again and the came back out and the crowd went CRAZY again!!!!! This show was a definite 5 stars and a 10 on a scale of 1-10 period!!

This concert was AMAZING!! It was GREAT to hear real Hip Hop again and to see some of the founders up close and in person performing their songs. I didn't think Salt n Papa's set should have been as long as it was. They could have cut theirs in half and made Doug E. Freshes set a half hour longer. Big Daddy Kane and Kool Moe Dee can still bring down a house. DMX was hilarious!!!! I DEFINITELY recommend this concert.

I had the best time at this show. Starting Young Mc. his voice was clear and he was very good just like I remember. Next was Tone Loc and his signature voice was great then Coolio was tearing the roof off the place. Then Color me Bad was clearly in the mood to sing like they were back in the day and so was All 4 one. Then Rob Bass was on e his game and got us all hipped up again and to top that was Salt and Pepa and Spindarella they were Awesome. I would deffently go see this show again.

The show was great. The performers were great. Royal Farms Arena has terrible acoustics and when the artists were talking, you could not understand them.

While it was fun reliving the 90's, some of those acts need to stay in the past.

Although I loved all of the artists and songs, I was a bit disappointed by the quality of sound and the picture on the screens. Sound was too loud(even for a concert) and somewhat distorted. The large screens were not very large and the picture quality was bad. I could see the artists on stage better than on the screen! And the speakers vibrated the screens the entire time. I was also disappointed that the original ad for the concert included Vanilla Ice and Kid N Play, but they were not at this concert.

Overall, this was a really fun show. A couple of things could have been better. The sound was pretty bad, with a lot of feedback, the MC was not very entertaining and seemed to be just a filler to waste time, and some of the performers could have done all of their hits, not just half a song each. Coolio was the most disappointing but Salt and Pepa more than made up for all the little annoyances!

Dollar for dollar (and we paid for front center) how can you see so many Artist for this price. Good times , good crowd (Baltimore) and an awesome venue. Baltimore didn't have Kid N Play or Vanilla Ice but wow SNP really brought the A game. That's not taking away from my man Tone Loc or the hit writing Young MC. (I wore my Delicious Vinyl classic T just for the fastest MC and he sang it.) Gangster Paradise with Coolio and his awesome sax player.

The best part of this show was when the artists covered other bands/singers songs from the 90's and not just their own stuff. All the songs brought back memories of middle and high school dances, military formals, and prom for me! It was great! The only downside is I wish that they had more big screens and pointed some towards the sides so we can see better on the sides. The big screens were only pointed towards the back. I had a hard time understanding what the artists were saying when talking (not singing) to the audience. Maybe there's an echo in our seating area, but it sounded like mumbling and we kept turning to each other asking "What did he say?" or "Did you catch that?" For example what we heard was, "Put your hands together for mwoekrakwlwkwerj!!!!"

Because there were so many acts, none performed a full set that you would expect from a concert. Some of the acts, like Young MC, were very brief. They got on stage, did a few songs, then got off stage. All-4-One was also relatively brief. They got on stage, did their two hit song, along with quick lyrics from other popular songs from the 90s, and got off. Other acts, however, seemed to try more to deliver. Coolio brought along people playing instruments, and yes did perform Gangsta's Paradise. Salt N Peppa stayed on the longest, had two breakdancers with them, and was the main event of the show. There was a part where they allowed audience members onto the stage to dance with them, which is surprising. Overall it was a fun show, and it was nice to see these guys again, however brief. I did not notice any meet and greet opportunities, which would have been nice given all the talent backstage. Also, although this may come across as a family event, the artists frequently used adult language, and the crowd was filled with adults with beer dancing around.

The concert was great. However, the Royal Farms arena should be burned to the ground and replaced with something decent.

They needed to have a Dj between acts. The concert felt boring until the last two acts which were Rob Base and Salt/ Peppa. People were talking and getting drinks during the earlier acts. The concert never felt lit til the ending 2 acts. Been to many concerts this ranks at the bottom

The show was wonderful. I just wish I could have seen Kid-N-Play. Why do we get a different show from the one in NY. Otherwise it was phenomenal.

Some good acts and some not so good. Don't understand what Coolio was doing. All for One was good. Salt and Pepa was good. Not happy Vanilla Ice didn't show and not a word was mentioned. Good show but not worth the price of the ticket.

One of the reasons I bought tickets to this event was for my best friend who loves vanilla ice. He never showed up to our event. I think it's messed up that I paid 100 a piece for tickets for me and 3 friends to go to this for her birthday and he was never even there. Everyone who performed were great, but they weren't the reason we went to the concert! We had shirts made that said "ice ice baby" and everything. I will never buy tickets through ticketmaster again. Not only that but people were smoking weed in the row in front of us and the security didn't do anything about it. I have never been so disappointed with a concert in my life!

Let's just take it in order... Young MC- winded way too easily, couldn't keep up they hype and rhyme at the same time. Tone Loc- my man still has it. He was fun and on point. Coolio- man leave this dude at home next time. I don't know what was up with him. Blah Color Me Badd- man they tried, but Bryan is big and couldn't participate in the "show" with the other 2 left. All 4 One- well coordinated, sounded good, all in all the best I thought of the night. Rob Base- great at what he does to this day Salt-N-Peppa- they were good at what they did still. Spinderella still runs that show! They were fun. All in all it was glorified karaoke...they were singing over old tracks it seemed, and I guess I was expecting more. It was fun to go back to my teenage years though.

The sound guy was horrible. Certain points of the concert the sound was extremely painful to the ears. All for one and salt n pepa were the only good performances out of the group.

This concert was so much fun! The groups with one or two hits came out, did their one or two hits, and got off. The MC was funny. The breaks between groups were very short. The crowd was so into it singing every single line! Salt n Pepa killed it! I felt like I was a teenager again!
