I've been following Greensky Bluegrass for years, I've seen them a few times and was really looking forward to this show. One thing seriously detracted from all of that though, the light show. I get that the new album is more "dark and psychedelic", but the lights were a bit much. I was actually surprised that there weren't warnings that strobes were being used, if I had a warning I would not have gone as I have special lenses on my glasses and strobe lights make me have weird vision problems and headaches. I had a headache for 2 days after. The playing was great (except for the yep/nope thing after the break). Just be forewarned that they are using a LOT of lights (that may shine in your eyes quite frequently) and strobes.

The venue, the employees, all the people involved did an amazing job. I couldn't believe how well the band sounded. Just like the record, but better. Just like the YouTube videos, but better.

Another solid performance by the best young newgrass band in the country. GSBG came back after a month long holiday hiatus and got right back into the groove with this show.

Greensky Bluegrass are really talented young musicians who know how to play. They're hot pickin' some standards and they write excellent originals. The solos enliven the crowd and get EVERYBODY dancing.

The opening band, Whitewater Ramble was AMAZING!! The energy they brought to the stage was contagious and I can't imagine anyone in the place not dancing along! Then, Greensky Bluegrass took the stage around 10:30 (on a Thursday, which was a little late for this old girl) and also played some very inspired songs, though with a little less energy. If you are going to have a concert that doesn't start until 9, I would suggest having the lineup switched around. Though Greensky Bluegrass was great, their songs were slower and didn't keep you awake, thus, when we left between 11:30 and 12, the crowd had definitely started to peter out. Overall though, very enjoyable experience!

I give an A++ for Greensky Bluegrass In Poconos on Thursday Jan 26, 2017.Im not a really huge bluegrass fan, but, after seeing these guys with PANIC in Vegas, My Wife & I could not miss them at our home venue. We arrived tail end of set 1, and they were rippin it up. They went out with a blasting set closer. SETII Set2 Rocked end to end. The lights were outstanding. Not too many bands could put around 800-900 people in that 1200 person venue on a work night. The merchandise needs to stock 3x garment. Tour poster was sold out, but the cool merchant, hooked me up wioth a venue poster. Overall, if these guys are near you, you would have to have rocks in your head to not go see them! Hell Yeah, They were fantastic. I guess Im a bluegrass fan now! Went right home and bought them on iTunes.

Greensky Bluegrass is a band of excellent musicians. They blend and support each other very well. Vocal harmonies abound, and the mix was awesome. I really appreciate them coming to Portland in February. I know they were all thinking - we must be nuts!

The venue was scenic. The patrons were generally kind. There was good places to burn before it got dark. There was a particularly lame security/usher dude who took his job WAY too seriously-thus the 3/5 rating

Bought the vip package because it allowed us access to the pit and the pre party. Turns out they ended selling tickets to the pre party at the door after advertising it as vip only. Then halfway through the festival they let everyone in the pit. Paid $5 for parking even though there was apparently free vip parking. There was not mention of this whatsoever. Had fun, but very poorly put together.

It was chilly, misty and magical! The afternoon/evening with inclement weather was made all the better by the fabulous music from the 4 bands that highlighted the event. It was foot stomping, dance in your chair or get up and move kind of music and the beat encouraged everyone to get moving! From toddlers to grandparents, delight and sparkle was in the air and shared by one another. Hopeful that this becomes an annual event, I look forward to going again next year and thank the Pinewood Bowl folks for putting on this wonderful event.

Good try, for a festival in lincoln. Music as great! VIP ticket holders seemed really unhappy. Posted that blankets and other things weren t allowed, but many brought them in. Chairs at a festival are really not good. Sitting in a hard plastic chair for 6 hours is terrible. Plenty of other festivals allow blankets and or chairs and the grass is just fine. Food trucks were good. Beer is over priced, again especially for an all day event. Pinewood should do a comparison to smaller festivals.

Greensky would do well to stick to playing music and leave the light show in storage. The back lighting constantly shining into the audience got real annoying, at least where we were seated in the loge. The bright lights in the eyes were a distraction from the music.Maybe if we had been on the main floor the experience would have been different. This was the third time I have seen them, but the first as a headliner. I decided this time that I liked their recorded music better than their live performance and this would be the last time I pay to see them as a headlining act. As far as a live show and straight up musicianship, The Infamous Stringdusters blow Greensky away.

Top notch blue grass from opener Billy Strings and his band. Incredible picking and wonderful solos. Billy can play at nuclear speed, yet he is developing more pace and measure and is not just blowing us away with incredible picking like he did last year. He and his band played a tight set that ended with a fourish. After 30 minute break, Greensky Bluegrass started their set. They instantly captured the crowed up up beat bass tempo and flourish of banjo and mandolin. The steel guitar player took the leads several times, and was a crowd favorite since he was wearing an Eagles jersey for the first set. After a brief break, the band played a second strong set, with the lead bopping around between band members. Great tunes, great crowd. It was near capacity, but there was enough room to dance and move around. It did take a few mintes to travel from the bar to our area on the floor. This was really good show. Solid.

Bold Point Park in East Providence is a real find. Easy to get to, beautifully situated on the water with a great sunset over Providence and a mellow atmosphere, it should be the site of many concerts in the future. Railroad Earth opened and they were, as usual, relaxed and tight. I love their songs and how the music reflects Todd's beautiful lyrics and incredible musicianships. I can listen to them everyday. Greensky Bluegrass, while drawing from a similar well, has taken the music to a rockier, jammier, more psychedelic space. Again, their incredible musicianship augments great original songs and wonderful covers. . This was a great pairing of 2 of my favorite groups.

Greensky Blue was fantastic! A must see...again...and again! These guys shred. A true testament to modern instrument engineering. They played so hard I don't see how the wood and strings held together. Precision bluegrass meets a rock n roll light show. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Amazing Band that really gives their fans a great show! The jam sessions are as enjoyable for the crowd of fans as they seem to be for the band. It is obvious that they really enjoy what they do, and as a fan, it is appreciated to see a band having such a great time performing. And, the fans, well, let's just say, they provide quite a show of their own! Great people!

The Kalamazoo State Theatre two night sold out show for Greensky Bluegrass was a phenomenal experience once again. The State Theatre does it right when it comes to logistics for a sold out crowd and the layout is excellent for the show. Greensky Bluegrass played for 3 hours and it was so much more than a concert....it is a musical experience and adventure that captivates you the entire time with incredible jams and so much talent in one place. If you have never seen GSBG, you don't know what you are missing, so go check them out if they are near you!

Good show, the only thing I would recommend for the band is to not take such a long intermission, we were getting restless out there waiting for you, smoke those doobies quicker! Also, the two singers need to sing a little clearer, their diction is bad and it was really hard to understand what they were saying when they sang a lot of the time. You can't blame the sound on this one, because the opening band was using the same sound system and I could understand that singer perfectly.

I am a long-time fan of the bluegrass genre, and have seen a lot of shows, and was very excited to discover Greensky this year - clearly a hot, tight band with original writing and an innovative take on a traditional style. The concert was marred less by the bands playing - a bit rambly and unfocused, and I felt like I was listening to a lot of concert filler - than by the venue and sound quality. Instrumentation was lost in the din, and there was no clarity between players - everything seemed lost in the wall of noise. You know you have trouble when even the banjo can't punch through, and the bass was overamped in a heavily distracting way ---. Lyrics and singing were garbled and indistinct and totally lost --. I don't know if the venue doesn't know sound, or the band has a deaf engineer, but it was highly unsatisfactory - we had to leave early. And - the light show was annoying and distracting and way over the top - useless movement at all times - again, distracting as hell. I will go back to the very successful CD's I have, and hope for a better live show in the future!

I saw these guys at the Fresh Grass music festival in North Adams, MA last September and immediately jumped on tickets to this show at the Paradise. Five fantastic musicians with a unique style that delivers a powerful performance. Crowd was energetic and clearly on the Greensky bandwagon for some time. Highlights - Windshield (intense live with enthusiastic audience participation), Demons (my favorite on their latest album), Worried About the Weather, and great covers - Gumboots (Paul Simon), Handle with Care (Traveling Wilburys) and Take It Easy (Eagles, nice closer in tribute of Frey). Several excellent jams along the way.

While I knew this would be a good show, I did not expect to come away considering it to be one of the best shows that i've ever seen. Greensky is tighter than any bluegrass/jam band that I've ever heard before. They're songs have such great melodies and there jams are not too long nor too short. They played for 3 hours without looking tired or lethargic at all. Could tell the band was having a great time and so was the crowd.

With an invovative twist on what is an often stigmatized genre of music, Greensky Bluegrass turned a small Baltimore City crowd into a cocophanous "Yeehaw!" hillbilly mob. While Todd Shaeffer hypnotized the crowd right off the bat with a smooth "James Taylor-esque" demeanor, the atmosphere was quickly invorgarated with the first pluck of the banjo string. True masters of their craft, Todd Shaeffer and the Greensky Bluegrass band electrified the quaint 8 x 10 venue last Tuesday night; and brought out the little bit of "hick" that resides somwhere inside us all.

First up was dinner at the Majestic Theater, I had the prime rib, Ms Loony had the lobster tail, both were excellent. We finished up and head for the Majestic Theater, inside grabbed one of the only 10 chairs. Being early does have it's advangages. Magpodz up first, excellent tight rythym section and keyboardist. Odd band in that they have a trumpet rather than a lead guitar. No matter they can play with the best of the jam bands out there. Tight tight tight. On to GSBS, the headliner, while an excellent musical band, the sound was glaring off the mandolin, and guitars. But they came to play. Then had magical moment during the night and locked into a groove so tight, it was like they were on rails. Excellent band see them if you can. Drinks were fairly priced, service was quick and the place was packed. An excellent way to spend NYE. Had a great time.
