MODEST MOUSE IN CONCERT:Indie rock veterans Modest Mouse enjoy a level of mainstream success that few other indie acts can touch. While the band's intelligent lyrics and expertly crafted songs made them critical darlings in the early '00s, their eclectic live shows earned them legions of fans. With their first new album in five years due out in 2014, Modest Mouse are gearing up for headlining slots at the Boston Calling and Shaky Knees music festivals. This a band that rarely disappoints me. It took me a bit to warm up to their opening act, but they were still good. Modest Mouse has a variety of instruments, which take a bit to set up. They deliver the goods. Great line of merchandise.

We drove over to Columbus from Pittsburgh and it was deffinetly worth it. I've never seen a show like that in my life. Issac Brock is by far the most amazing song writer. During this show they played around half the songs off of their new album and did a lot of their old stuff. It was a 3 hour show and i enjoyed every minute of it. Incredible, simply incredible.

The concert last night was amazing. Modest mouse puts on an unbelievable show. This was my first time seeing them and I waited outside the gates for 4 hours and I got in the front, it was amazing to see them in person. The energy was amazing and the crowd was overwhelming. I really hope they come back to town, they are amazing and there showed rocked.

I have been a huge Modest Mouse fan for about 7 years now, and this was the first time I have seen them live. Absolutely amazing! The sheer intensity that Isaac Brock sings with in every single song is enough to go see them. Let alone the fact that every member of that band goes all out all concert long. Not sure what to say besides, you MUST see Modest Mouse live if you even remotely like them.

They played an amazing compilation of songs including 3 new ones from the vynal releases. A lot of songs off of Good news as well. Opening with Satin In a Coffin seems to be the par because they did the same thing at tower city last year. Made the trip from cleveland to see this show and it was well worth it.

Loved the last concert we went to with Modest Mouse when they had Band of hourses as a warm up band, that was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. This warm up band I did not like too much, but Modest Mouse was outstanding!

I was just expecting a half decent time with Modest Mouse because I hadn't heard anything stellar about their live shows. They were really energetic and I could feel it in the crowd as they did their thing. I was into some of their stuff when hearing it live that I don't like listening to on cd. They know how to rock out. I though it was cool they had 2 drummers. They also used a lot of instruments, even if only for a fade out of a song... ie banjo, violin, chello, etc. The only criticism I have is they didn't play Float On... MM concert is recommended.

Wanted to see Modest Mouse, they weren't playing anywhere near San Diego this summer, and when I saw they were playing in CT, I called my friend there and booked my trip. So yes, I'll bet I was the only one from San Diego there that night. A new fan of their entire discography, I am absolutely obsessed with them at the moment. I had heard mixed reviews, like maybe they'd played some bad shows, but I was not disappointed. they sounded great, played a great set, I had a great time! Wish I could be a groupie....

Getting to to the Waterfront was not bad at all. Other then the heat, which no one had control over the venue was set up well. Plenty of beer and water stations and a beautiful view of the city from the east river. The stage was also good too. It was set up in away where you could get decently close and interact with the band.... The only down side to this day was the lightening and the rain. Once Modest Mouse went on everyone was having a great time for the first 3 songs until it started to lightening out. Park officials told us we had to evacuate for our safety for 20 min and then they would assess if the show would go on. Annoyed by this, many people stayed inside the park so the the police were called and we were they flushed out of the park like drowned rats. At this point it started to rain heavily and the police told us to go home and the show was canceled. I feel I should be refunded since I only got to hear 3 songs from the band I came to see.

Absolutely loved this show! Perfect setlist, some of the coolest lighting. Amazing time! Cannot wait to see them again! Oh and an opening band that not only didn't suck, but was really good! Rare indeed!

Modest Mouse was amazing!! Not to mention they came back out in their "birthday suits" for one of the guys birthdays. By birthday suits- skin tight - skin colored jumpsuit onsies. hilarious. Definitely will be seeing them again when they come back.

This has (unfortunately) been my only real concert that I've gone to. Not to say that it didn't have its quirks; I drove eight hours down from Minneapolis minus the two hours of delay (all thanks to the Illinois State Tollway system), went to the concert, got a hotel, then drove the eight hours back the next day, alone. I gladly would have spent twice as much time on the road. The show was amazing; to see them play live rocks your core.

This show was really fun. I didn't appreciate being pushed through the whole show, but being so close made it worth it. Really high energy crowd was great! They didn't play very long, but played what I wanted to hear. Good show overall!

The Lifestyle Communities Pavilion is a great place for an outdoor show! We had a great spot on the lawn, and we didn't feel crowded at all. Beer was reasonably priced, and the women's bathroom was clean enough. The opening band for Modest Mouse was The Dutchess and the Duke, a folk/punk sound. I was a big fan of them. MODEST MOUSE was just great! The show exceeded all of my expectations. Great sound, great light settup, great set list. I'd definitely go again!

They played very well. Playing songs from every album they've released. It was really outstanding. I was really surprised as to some of the older songs they played. It was really good, opening with Gravity Rides Everything, and Closing Fly Trapped Jar. The Encore also included Dramamine, and Broke. Overall, it was an outstanding show.

I thought the show was great....up until the encore. They really kinda dissed us. Left us standing for almost 15 minutes of straight cheering before giving any sign they were coming back out. And we were loud. You might think - 15minutes isn't so long. But go outside and start cheering for 15 minutes straight and it will fell like forever. I don't know why they did that. People clearly felt like they were dissing on Memphis a bit and for a minute we thought they weren't coming out at all. It was weird. I mean... they weren't cheap tickets!

I can think of few times where I have been more disappointed than I was at this venue. Whoever was mixing the sound for the concert needed to have a hearing screening. The vocals were miles away from where they should have been. Admittedly, there were a ton of instruments on stage, but a more thorough sound check would have indicated that there was a huge problem. Even into the first few songs, nothing was done to adjust this. It was impossible to hear any of the lyrics and if you were not a die hard modest mouse fan (which I am) then you would probably be clueless as to what song the band was playing. Massively disappointing.

The opening band was marginal, and modest mouse took about 45 minutes to start after the opening act was finished. The sound quality was horrific, nobody in the audience could understand any of the singer s commentary. It was nearly 30 minutes waiting for them to come back out for an encore, it was more like intermission. Waste of time and money. They didn t play any of their popular songs, like Float On. Singer seemed pissed off. Was at the show 7:30-11:30.

The venue was great but the sound quality of modest mouse was terrible. They should fire their sound guy. And it wasn't the Acoustics of the Tennessee theater because I've seen many shows there. I also saw Modest Mouse in Asheville and it was the same story. Their sound quality was horrible.

First let me say I have been a Modest Mouse fan forever. And I will always be a fan. However based on this week's show AND the last time I saw them in Chattanooga (different venue) the sound was terrible. Could barely hear the vocals and feedback was awful during at least two songs. The band was obviously frustrated and took a 15 minute break and then came back, played 4 songs and left. The sound was better during what I guess was the encore. Weirdly anti-climactic.

I loved the venue. It was general admission but it had both seating and standing which is nice for all. Modest Mouse came out and killed it on stage. If you get the opportunity to see them live GO! You will not be disappointed.

Normally, the shows at the The Ritz are awesome. I've seen a few acts there and everything has been perfect: the sound, the band, the staff, the upstairs VIP lounge, etc. However, something was VERY off with the mixing at this show for both the opening act (Mass Gothic) and Modest Mouse. I could hardly hear the vocals at all - very garbled. Some instruments drowned out the others. I don't think it was part of the show. I mean, I saw Flogging Molly here (very loud act with a lot going on), and the sound was fine. Modest Mouse crew tried to make adjustments throughout the show but finally just gave up and went with it. I'm not sure what happened, but otherwise the show was great. I just wish the sound mixing had been on point!

Gogol Bordello and Modest Mouse are both fantastic headlining bands and we got to see long set lists from them both! The venue was small and intimate. Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse did a solo acoustic play of Styrofoam Boots, and it was incredible. I've never been to another concert where the band played such a mix of old and new content. They played a little bit of literally everything and I couldn't feel more grateful. I was also 15 feet away from Isaac Brock and will never forget this experience.

I enjoyed Modest Mouse very much. The instrumentals were amazing. But the audio for the vocals was horrible. For the most part you couldn't understand any words that were being said. And there was way too much audio feedback and mic popping it sounded terrible towards the end.

It's like he was too close to the mic- the only thing I could understand were some of the words of the songs I knew, and still I couldn't really make them out. The instruments drowned everything out. Still, they're all really good musicians. The did play all my favorites so that was good. Their other stuff was more deconstructed so it was fun to listen to anyway. They had cool tshirts at regular concert prices. So I was going to bring my husband and then he was out of town for work so I brought my sister.. and she is a fan while my husband has only heard the few songs I pointed out to him, and I was sure he would be a fan when we left.. but the whole time I kept thinking, I'm glad I didn't bring my husband to this, he would end up hating them. My sister felt the same way, we were disappointed. Maybe it was the seats! They need a new opening act.. that guy.. I don't want to be mean. He should keep following his dream but I don't know how he got that gig.

It was just an amazing feeling to see my favorite band in concert. MM was absolutely terrific. Isaac Brock was a little drunk but I think we all were lol he still sounded amazing so I'm not mad. I'm so glad I flew there to see them and can't wait to see them in Norfolk in October!

This was the best performance I've seen next to Paul McCartney. SO INCREDIBLE! The venue was small and outdoors, it was really nice and I would totally go again. And Modest Mouse, wow. They are amazing and I cannot wait for them to come somewhere around the Midwest again! I drove 4 hours to Columbus Ohio and it was so worth it. Highly recommend seeing them live. I was singing and dancing the entire time and couldn't believe it was over so soon :'( wish they could play their whole discography!!

A full moon rose over the top of the stage and Isaac Brock as Modest Mouse rocked this lovely outdoor venue. Made some great friends and saw MM at the best venue yet. Wonderful, easy parking, good crowd, perfect weather. Loads of new music, yet to be released. We drove 5 hours from Southern Indiana to see them, totally worth it.

I see people complain a lot about Isaac Brock's live performances, but this show was perfect. Banter was kept to a minimum and Brock seemed to be on the mark this time. The setlist catered not to the casual listener, but more toward the fan. They didn't waste time playing Float On or Doin' the Cockroach. There were songs from every album (though no songs off any EP), and there was 4 new songs played that evening. They opened up with King Rat, which was killer. Overall a very stellar performance by Modest Mouse. I would definitely go see them again if they were up to this standard once more. The opening band, Survive Knife, was also really good. The only thing that was mildly disappointing about this show was not he bands, but actually the people. I am a very short person and I cannot see passed your iphones, please be more considerate.

This show was unforgettable!!!!! The sounds the lights and the crowd were unbelievable. Issac really blows your mind away, his beautiful music and lyrics had the entire crowd swaying with their eyes closed. It was an event I will never forget, I can't wait to see them live again. My only hope is that they don't play "Float on".

The opening band was a surprise and a very loud & annoying waste of time. MM finally began almost an hour & a half later than we expected. We have been fans for years and enjoyed about half of their songs. Some were way too loud. Maybe the Tivoli theater was just too small for the volume. I remember watching the lady playing the violin, wishing I could hear her express her talent, but the electric guitars drowned her out. We had to leave at the intermission because my friend had to drive an hour back home. Bottom line: we regret spending so much time & money on this event.

Don't generally enjoy this style of music and this concert was no exception. Music too loud and could only understand a few lyrics. However the friend I went with who is a fan enjoyed the show. The thing that annoyed me the most about this band though was their lack of respect to their fans. If you pay to go to a concert then you expect to hear the most popular songs live when you attend. After coming back for one encore, they left the stage and the lights stayed down. For several minutes the audience cheered and waited for them to return to perform Float On as the final encore which is apparently their most well known song. They never returned. As I am not a fan anyway I didn't really care, but the people who were sitting around me were really disappointed and I did resent it for them plus they left us sitting for several minutes thinking they were going to return.

This was a great show with a nice balance between old and new, popular and slightly obscure. Lots of dance-friendly tunes. Opening with 3rd Planet got the place going and with maybe one exception they kept the Orpheum rocking throughout. Highlights included Gravity Rides Everything, Bukowski, and Missed the Boat. After a somewhat extended wait for the encore, they returned to play 3 more songs ending with an inspired Spitting Venom. Oddly, after they thanked the opening act (Mass Gothic) and left the stage the house lights remained dark. Naturally, the fans assumed a 2nd encore. The crowd started clapping in anticipation, but after about 7 min or so the "tear down" crew started doing their thing (with no house lights). I would've given the show 5 stars had they returned for 1 or 2 more songs (the crowd earned it). Also, I would've preferred skipping a few obscure songs in favor of Ocean Breathes Salty, Baby Blue Sedan, Trailer Trash, Broke, or Heart Cooks Brain. That said, I loved it and would definitely see them again.

The opening act "Mass Gothic" sounded really good and then they got a little weird towards the end. Drummer was covering his face with a shirt at what appeared to be a way of demonstrating his drumming skills without seeing and the keyboarded/singer was playing from the floor. Modest Mouse rocked and sounded great but we were extremely bummed that they did not play our favorite song Float On.

I'm a pretty big Modest Mouse fan, but whoever miked the band and mixed the sound really phoned it in. All I could really hear was the three drum sets and the lead guitar. It almost felt like I was eavesdropping on the show from a building next door. The vocals were set way too low. Also, the band did not seem like they really wanted to be here. They strung us along for a really long applause break before doing a first encore, and then we spent just as long (if not longer) cheering for the second encore only to see the house lights come up. I know the sound issue wasn't due to the venue, because I've seen plenty of great shows at the Orpheum that didn't have that problem. So I'm not sure what was going on there. Maybe they were just having an off night?

MM was NOT good at all! They seemed over produced, canned and flat-lined after the first song. I have seen them several times but this was like I was listening to a totally different ensemble. They should have turned their apple cart over a long time ago. So sad!

An artist can't skip their biggest song esp if you played it in other many previous cities. Even, then the show lacked energy as Mouse seems to stumble through. I have been at shows where the artist doesn't play their big song; they make up for it. The wait for the encore took ridiculously long. Many people left after waiting probably assuming it was over. Seems Modest had to be motivated to come back out. Wish someone would have motivated their first set. I regret not leaving early with the others. ********WARNING: If you want to hear Float On look at OAKLAND SETLIST. They may not play it.

I was very disappointed with this show. Not due to the fact that Modest Mouse was bad, they are always amazing. The sound in this venue was absolutely awful. When Isaac spoke I could not even make out a word he said. Really disappointing. The venue itself was great ! I loved the layout and the openness, if the sound was good it would have been a great show.

Felt like the show was cut short. They didn t play any popular songs off Good News... they did play Night on the Sun, though .... Isaac sounded utterly deflated to be in Albuquerque. He was also incredibly difficult to understand. Maybe he tried some of the local meth? Lol. The staff there were jerks and forcefully ushered people out. Disappointing show for the money spent.

The venue is smallish but still big enough for a good crowd that interacts with the band. They were very engaging and played a lot of greats from years past to current tracks. Their improvisational style and ability to jam within the constraints of the song make them a ton of fun to watch. We've caught them yearly since '98 and this was another of their fantastic shows!

Modest mouse are awesome. Venue is outdoors and sound was excellent. They had canned beer which was smart cause the last time there were long lines for draft beers. Was a real good time!

Modest Mouse - it wasn't just a concert, it was a life-changing experience. I entered Villa Hispana not knowing much about this band except that my friend, who I got tickets for his birthday, credits them for saving his life. I left that venue a changed person. Modest Mouse was amazing!
