This was the first time we have seen An American in Paris. We thought the story line, the dancing, the music, and singing were all excellent. The first act was a bit slow and I was somewhat uncertain if we would walk away liking the show. But the second act was absolutely fantastic from the first scene thru the end. There were plenty of worthy ovations for the second act. We would recommend the show and would go see it again in the future.

Loved it from the balcony at Kennedy Center. Adored it from the third row orch at Hippodrome. The dancing is enchanting. The set design wonderful. Kyle Robinson as the lead was amazing!!! His style, swagger and smile is completely engaging. Can t wait to see his next project. Love the emphasis on the male dancers equal to the female dancers. Amazing music. Great vocals. A must see. So entertaining.

As advertised, the book of the show was different from the movie. However, it was still an interesting story. The biggest thing was all the Gershwin music, which was the highlight. The dancers were excellent, and the lead actress was marvelous as a ballet dancer. There also was a lot of comic relief.

We saw the show on Broadway and were interested to see how good the touring company is in comparison. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent performances of the tour group. The dancing hit the marks for grace, enticement, and athleticism, each where appropriate. The touring sets can't compete with the LED screens in NYC, but they did not disappoint. They were spectacular and set the moods from subtle to romantic to glorious.

This was a very good show. The cast was fantastic. I did enjoy the show, but I did not love it. I am not a dance person, and An American in Paris is very much a dance show. I am glad that I went though, some of the acts were wonderful - real Broadway.

This show was the most spectacular display of talent we ever had the experience to view. The dancing, singing, acting was unbelievable. We have gone to many musicals for many years. We enjoyed this show the most. The talent, especially the leading rolls, was just the best ever. Magee Maddox, the principal male dancer and singer has talent that far exceeds most dancers that we had the pleasure to watch. The female lead dancer and the lead disabled song writer was also fantastic . I highly recommend to everyone that has a chance to see this show, see it.

I must say, it was a good production. The only thing I had a problem with, (which is why I only gave 4 stars) is when Jerry said the "G D" word Why in the world that was put in the play I have no idea. I think Gene Kelly would be rolling in his grave right now. I thought it was disrespectful to the movie and the audience. Yes, it is said a lot, but come on, we need to take a stand sometime. I like wholesome plays without all the foul language! Why on earth it has to be added to everything, I will never understand. With that being said, I did enjoy the rest of the show. Thank you.

if you like ballet and melancholy music you will like this. this show moved to slow for me due to the long ballet scenes. i like to tap my toes and have a tune caught in my head when i leave. this show did not do that for me. i thought the cast did a good job i liked the tap scene dedicated to new York city and the rockettes dance line.

The Ohio theatre always provides a good experience when watching any of it's Broadway shows for the season. American in Paris exceeds expectations in terms of choreography and the overall talent of the cast. However, if you are not a true fan of dance and ballet, this may not be the best show for you. The story is not the strongest and frankly the show is a bit long and drawn out. Additionally the songs are good but not enough to bring this show up from being what it is at it's core, a place to merely show off it's dancers.

I m a jazz musician and I absolutely love the work of George Gershwin, which was the main reason I decided to come and see this musical. But WOW! It was everything I imagined and MORE! The pit jazz orchestra was insaaaane and so very talented. It was so hard to focus on just one aspect of this performance because everyone was giving it their best from start to finish. Unforgettable!

"A New Musical" should have been "A New Ballet". Very choppy storyline, chaotic at times not knowing what was going on (especially beginning and characters). If it was to be interpreted in the dancing it mostly was lost for me. Not what I found entertaining.

I wasn't sure what to expect since the movie with Gene Kelley is such a classic. This show doesn't try to remake the movie but in many ways is staged like a movie with fluid scene changes and backdrops that change perspective plus much more. I was truly blown away with all the elements. As to the leads, they were all excellent and there was great chemistry between Jerry and Lise not to mention superb dancing. I can't speak to the original Broadway cast but this roadshow company is wonderful.

The play.was great but distractions made it hard to watch. First, two sign language interpretors were distracting because of the gigantic spot light on 2 women. Another thing, It was freezing in the theater. There was a constant flow of cold air. And I can't forget the guy in front of me who was filming and flashing the entire time. Very distracting

We had seen "An American in Paris" in NYC in December 2015 and was excited to see the touring production. We were not disappointed at all! The entire production was as good as in New York. It is one of the most beautiful and romantic shows from sets, costumes, music, singing and of course, choreography. Kudos to the entire crew that brought "An American in Paris" to Milwaukee. I certainly hope the show returns soon - I'll be in the audience again.

The music was wonderful, who can fault George Gershwin. The dance superb. The plot. What plot? It was just a confused mess of unrelated elements. Why set Gershwin's music, he died in 1937, in post war Germany? Why have so many unrelated elements - Jewish persecution, a former soldier accidentally encountering a victim of the holocaust, a 3 way love story that logically can't be resolved and in the end everybody happy with the end. The show needs a new plot. Or in point of fact a cohesive plot.

My wife bought us tickets to an American in Paris. Knowing it was for our anniversary I didn't state what I would rather see. I'm so glad she did though as this production went above my expectations in everything from the dance routines, scenery, comedy and demanding efforts of the cast. My only regret is that it was the last night, as I would've liked to have gone back with my teenagers to watch it again.

This was our first time at the Majestic, so I am not sure where the fault lies. From the front left of the Mezzanine, we could understand too little of what was said or sung. Theater acoustics, sound system, actors' enunciation, "accents" -- or all of these? The venue itself is, of course, amazing, and I would have given it four or five stars, but then it looks as though I am recommending this production. I cannot do so for general audiences. This production seems to place the story second to the dancing, of which there is too much, unless one is himself or herself an aficionado.

The movie on which this show is based is my all-time favorite movie musical so I was very eager to see this stage adaptation. I was not expecting for the story to be changed, but think that the Broadway version did so to good effect. I especially liked the ballet sequence at the end which reflected the paintings of Mondrian; while it was quite a departure from the movie it was extremely creative and original. I loved the show and would see it again!

I was hesitant to see an American in Paris, even after watching the trailer but a friend had seen it and said they enjoyed it so I figured I would give it a chance. I am so glad that I did. The musical book may be a little flimsy based on a love triangle or was it a quadrant...I'm not sure, but the dancing was amazing. The whole show had the feel of a vintage musical but did not seem out of date in the least. Lise and her admirers all performed their roles admirably. I particularly felt Jerry was the strongest dancer of the bunch but they each had handled their solos with finesse. My favorite dance sequence was the Radio City Music Hall dream sequence. I'm not a ballet fan so I wasn't impressed with the ballet finale but it held my attention nonetheless. All in all, it was a lively, delightful show with amazing dancing.

As a longtime fan of America's gift to the world--the musical--I loved the show. The opening and closing ballets made it. The added backstory of this new production was a little hackneyed but did not impact my enjoyment too much (hence the 4 stars). I would have preferred it remain the "fairy tale" that was the film. I loved the interesting--bordering on bizarre sometimes--use of Gershwin standards especially "Fidgety Feet." As someone who needs to suspend disbelief now more than ever, I spent a lovely afternoon at the Opera House. BTW, usher Gail was very nice in leading the way to the Will Call window.

What a fantastic Show. The singing the dancing, the set design, the movement, the flow, the story was all so well done. I was particularly pleased with the amount and quality of ballet. The only downside was the singing from several of the main actors (e.g. Lis) was underwhelming. But overall a wonderful experience.

"An American in Paris" is quite possibly the very best song-and-dance show that we have seen in at least the past ten years. The music and songs were outstanding and such a pleasure to hear again. The choreography and dancing were splendid and splendidly executed. The actors and dancers carried out their parts flawlessly, in great trouper fashion. All in all this show was not only a terrific reboot of a wonderful story, bur simply great theatre. For a marvelous time, don't miss "An American in Paris."

I wish plays more often featured actual ballet based choreography such as this did. Impactful dance and strong music compositions filled in between the standard well know numbers. Could have used more chemistry between the lead couple though. But the ups outweighed the small errors. THis American really enjoyed my night in Paris.

Can't stop telling others how terrific the production was. All the Gershwin songs and music were a joy to listen to. So many hit tunes came out of this story. The cast was terrific. They danced throughout the production, with a huge amount of high-quality ballet choreography, classic tap, and a rousing Rockettes-like number. All the top roles had tons of dancing as well as singing, and each person did both admirably. Impressively frequent costume changes, plus the physical demands of singing and dancing, yet they never appeared to be tired. The audience kept oohing and aahing at the constant action and physical achievements. On top of all this, the staging, scenery and especially the computer-generated backgrounds created many gasping moments in the audience for its impressive creating of settings and moods. As soon as the final curtain started coming down, we were all on our feet in appreciation of the entire cast's efforts, not just the lead roles. Wonderful experience, I recommend it to all ages.

What an amazing show! The dancing, especially at the end, is fabulous. I would most certainly go see this one again.

Cheap, amateurish. Understudies play leads on Saturday matinee. Choreography was unimaginative. Set was cheap looking with poorly done projections. Acting was mediocre at best. We left at intermission along with several other audience members. Please don't charge full ticket price for non-Equity performers. Save your money and go see a show at Hatiloo or Playhouse on the Square.

Terrific musical with fantastic Gershwin songs and extraordinarily talented dancers. I like the book better than the original film. Enjoyed having additional Gershwin songs. I definitely can see how this won the Tony for best musical!

I brought my 21 year old daughter, who lived in France for a year. She loved it! The humor, the French, the dancing, singing and the ballet. We were so in love with the main characters! What a great production!

If you're a fan of the famed, Oscar-winning film of the same name, you'll get a lot of joy from "An American in Paris." The sets are gorgeous, the dancing is sublime, and the story - which has a few tweaks from the cinematic version - flows well enough. However, if you're coming for the musical aspect of things, be warned: this is undeniably a dance-heavy show, and folks expecting more songs and dialogue may end up leaving disappointed.

George and Ira Gershwin are rolling in their graves over this remake .Was tempted to leave at intermission as a lot of people around us did , but thought , surely, it would get better ! Didn t happen . Terrible remake . Actors were very talented , but not enough to save it. Sorry.

Overall this was a pretty slow story line. The amount of ballet surprised me.

Wonderful Gershwin music and ballet dancing make this worthwhile. The scenery projections are nicely done to create Parisian feeling. Especially enjoyed Ryan Steele's dancing as Jerry - wow!

One of the best Broadway shows I have seen. The New York number was second only to the Rockettes! This production is full of talent and the stamina of the dancers is amazing. They made it look flawless.

I had seen the film and knew the story. But I was just blown away by this production. The show is really a full modern ballet with a musical running through it. There was wall to wall dancing and the dancers were amazing singers. I could not believe the stamina of the cast. The dancers looked effortless and I didn't see any sweat until the last dance number of the first Act. That is impressive. The set is clever. The screen upstage really reflected the mood of the piece and of Jerry's drawings. The dancers moved furniture and set pieces on and off so smoothly sometimes I didn't even notice they were carrying something until they shifted in another direction. So smooth. So elegant. I had to come up to Appleton to see this performance due to being out of town when it comes to Madison 2/27-3/04. I am so glad I did. I will say, if dancing is not your thing, this may be a long show for you. But if you marvel in dance, you will not be disappointed.

First time seeing this play! Figured if it won all these awards, it had to be good and it did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate an early Valentine's Day with this play as our main event, and I'm so glad we did! We loved it!

The venue was beautiful, but the show itself was a bit challenging to get invested in. I usually really appreciate and enjoy ballet and musicals but the plot/music of this one didn't entice me very much. I don't think it was a reflection of the performers' performance, but rather the content of the musical. All around it was okay, but not for everyone.
