Mike Ness and company never fail to put on a great show. This was no exception. Express Live is the perfect venue for Social Distortion. Great vibe and the accustics are perfect for them.

Finally got to see these guys in Columbus after years of wanting to go. I ve always heard great things about Social D. All I can say is that three days after the concert I already got tickets to see them in Maryland. These guys put on a great show.

social distortion at the commodore ballroom was great. Social D sounded solid and tight. Even though we went the second night (Sunday) they were full of energy, played some real classics and kept on playing... best social d set i've ever seen (out of four or so in the last 10 years.)

Social D is one if the best touring bands and they proved again when they played commodore. It was a great show from the first note right to last note if Story of My Life. It's my 6th rme seeing social d and they impress me each time they play live. Can't wait til they come back.

I have seen Social D both at the Showbox Downtown and twice at the the Showbox SODO (once under the venue's former name). They played a good mix of the older material as well as newer stuff, changing things just a bit from the records (in some cases) to make the live experience unique and interesting. On stage were a few newer faces in the line-up - a different drummer and bass player. They played well, but there was one point in Ball and Chain when the drummer kept on playing when the recorded version of the song would have had him no-play. Not sure if that was a change up for the live show or not. Either way, they sounded good. The crowd was, for the most part, cool and having a good time like you would expect at a Social D show. The only downer was that it was a hot day in Seattle - close to 90 - and the venue is basically a warehouse which turned into an oven between the sun heating it all day and all of the people inside. There was no AC or even fans to move the air around so it got a little stuffy in there.

Great show! Perfect mix of songs spanning the past 30 years, including 3 new songs which where incredible. While Charlie will be missed on drums, Atom brings a lot of energy and perfect rhythm, reminiscent of Chuck Biscuits. Hopefully a new album is in the mix.

I have seen Social D and Mike Ness quite a few times over the past 20 years. I'm from LA and he played a lot of shows on the OC when I was in college. I can't ever remember seeing Social D or Mike Ness solo and being disappointed. His energy and amazing voice, coupled with a badass rocking band makes me feel energized every single time I go. I would never miss a chance to see Social D. I thought the showbox event staff did an amazing job allowing the pit and crowd surfing get just to a point where it felt like a punk show, but people who weren't in the pit didn't get a kick to the head. The SODO space has great sound and is a great small/large venue. D D

Thirty years on, Mike Ness is still fronting what is one of rock and roll's most vital and compelling bands. Tight, driving and muscular playing, impassioned and emotionally raw lyrics and a true sense of belonging to a cause bigger than oneself make for an electric performance that is felt from both sides of the footlights. Ness, the only remaining original member of the band has recruited his new players with an eye for what makes Social Distortion work; intense focus, energy and musicianship. While the players around him are "new," the sound remains true to the earliest days of the band, and it is easy to fall back in time, to the chaotic early days of the SoCal punk scene, and feel as energized by the opening chords of "Story Of My Life" or "Mommy's Little Monster" as you did the first few times you heard them. It is an event every time they play, made more special by the realization that you've seen them again hit heights of rock and roll song- and stage-craft that many bands never achieve one time, much less repeatedly over a thirty year career. You owe it to yourself to see Social Distortion live, as there is no other band working that does what they do, as well or as uncompromisingly.

The show was kick ass!! They really need to play more then 1 night up here though!! A lot of people missed this show due to it being only one night thus it was super packed :/ The fanatics will go 2 nights lol but it'll open it up for all the people that didn't buy tickets for the first night. SOLD OUT show of course! :)~ Wish SD. would play up here more often like they do in OC. hey....Seattle isn't to far away to just come up here every so couple of months!! ; )

Great show - high energy, crowd loved it, tight band, good acoustics, and everyone had a great time. I saw this band over 20 years ago and they still rock, and they rock hard! Mike Ness sounded and looked good, and I would definitely see them again. I was hoping he would play "1945" or "Mommy's Little Monster" (I'm showing my age again, ha!) but with the large repertoire it's hard to hear every single song in one concert...I loved the setlist anyway.

We arrived to the event about 30-45 minutes late. Unfortunately, we missed the first opening band (Off WIth Their Heads). However, we did get to see Chuck Ragan play. I've never heard their music, and it was great. I thought they played really well. Then Social Distortion came on! They played an awesome set. The crowd was singing along and really into the moment. There is never a moment that I am not excited to hear Social Distortion play, especially live. I got some awesome photos of the band on stage. I wish they had a meet and greet option. The only thing sucked was you had to pay $40 to get in the front area. I did not know this and I didn't know where to buy this. I would have paid for that option if I knew where and how to get those wrist bands.

Mike noticed my family and I in the pit before the start of a long awaited sold out show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. He had one of his crew walk down to ask us if we would like front and center seats compliments of Mr. Ness... best seats in the house. Great seats!!! Ended up next to friends of his. It was my son and daughter's first Social D show... one of many now. -----Thanks Mike, fans through and through ;)

I am going to be turning 44 Tuesday. I have been a Social D fan since '83 and (as much as I hate to admit to this) this is the FIRST time I got to see these guys in person in concert. I say in person because I have a couple of their live performances on DVD. So I at least had an idea of what to expect. What can I say? It was vintage Social D! They are, Mike Ness (Mr. Cool!!!! Lead vocals and guitar), Jonny "Two Bags" Wickersham (guitar...and yes...that's how he spells Jonny!) he's been with Mike the longest, Brent Harding (bass) second longest and David Hidalgo Jr. (drums...and by the way his father is in Los Lobos). David is the newest to join Mike. At 49, Mike still kicks ass! Personally, I think fans of old and new should have enjoyed the show. I believe those that have seen Social D in concert before, left there feeling satisfied and feeling like, "Yep! That's Mike and the guys!" And any new followers or curious people hopefully found Social Distortion to be a pleasant surprise. What was way cool was that they were at the Ryman in Nashville! Mike made comments about how much that meant to him because some of his musical heroes played there. Johnny Cash is a huge favorite of his and definitely influenced him. So how fitting. A "vintage" punk rock band performing at a "vintage" auditorium My only complaint...it took me so dog gone long to see these guys in concert!!!!!! I pray I get an opportunity to again. It was well worth the approximately 4.5 hour drive (one way)!!!!

Wednesday night in Richmond could not have been better with Sharks, Chuck Ragan and Social Distortion at The National. All acts were great. The National sound system blends things into a wall of sound a little bit too much. I could hear the organ but I could not really hear the individual notes unless the sound came from a guitar or drum. The crowd was full of loyal fans that knew most of the songs. I met a couple from Durham NC that drove up for this show! Me and my son enjoyed the venue. Mike Ness and the rest of the band commanded the stage with songs that were punk oriented, straight up rock n roll, blues oriented, Americana and country oriented. The fans are rabid about Social Distortion because Mike and the band are authentic in a time of fakes and fools.

Yo. First outdoor show at Stage AE and let me say, Social D did not disappoint. Of course given the previous shows in the Pittsburgh Area, who would ever think that SD would disappoint? Not Me. This review is more about the venue rather then the Band because its a forgone conclusion that the band kicks arse. I was very surprised and pleased with the setup of Stage AE. Great place to see a show. Its like someone took a modern Star Lake and dropped it next to Heinz Field. This is a great new venue to host shows in the city, driving to First Niagra is so 10 years ago. Also, sound quality was great

What an unbelievable show. I've seen Social D 6 times, and just about every time is better than the last. No exception here. The venue was perfect, and their set list was a great mix of old favorites and selections from their two newer albums. Mike Ness still has it, and had the crowd going crazy for the entire set. I have to say, when you are a punk rock band and you can add back-up singers, and still not lose an ounce of respect, you've done something pretty unique. Hope they keep evolving, and putting out more new music. Because this is the best live act going right now.

We arrived 2 hours early, and i stood against the barrier 5 feet in front of Mike Ness! The opening bands were both good. Who would have though there were such things as good opening bands? The Sharks were punk, and i thought they did a great job. Chuck Ragan was a folk style, drunken type band. They even had a toast with their Guiness. As soon as Social Distortion came on stage, the energy at the venue went insane. Theyplayed all their hits with the exception of not playing under my thumb. Overall, this was a great show. Mike Ness still kicks ass at nearly 50! Looking forward to seeing them again.

Overall, the show was awesome! Mike Ness never lets me down. He played a few songs off the new album (Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes), but also played a lot of his old jams. The crowd was pumped all night and he definitely left us all wanting more! The opening gig, Chuck Ragan, was amazing. That fiddler can jam!! This was the 2nd Social D show we've seen at the Eagle Club/Rave (whatever you want to call it). Parking was a bit pricey ($25), that's what I'd expect in Chicago. Even more of what I'd expect in Chicago were the beer prices! $8.50 a pop. All in all, though, I wouldn't avoid seeing a show here just because of those things. The ballroom was a great size and probably at capacity... until people starting getting bounced. :) Mike Ness, Social D, and Chuck Ragan... 5 stars Eagle Club, Rave, Eagles Ballroom... 4 stars

Mike Ness and his crew were in fine form for their sold out show at the Grand Sierra Resort on Feb 15th. Mike's vocals and lead guitar kicked ass! They played the old standards and a few of their favorites off their new release "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes". What can I say... another awesome show that did not disappoint in any way whatsoever! Long live Mike Ness and all of Social D. P.S. The new drummer that had replaced Charlie knew what he was doing! I also liked checking out and people watching all the hard core fans milling around in the casino before, during and after the show! I also highly recommend catching the opening acts if you ever get a chance. They were both excellent choices to open for Social D!

After cancelling 2 shows earlier in the week because of the flu, they came back to San Francisco to continue on, this show was the weakest i've seen them play (about 8 times). I felt like i wanted my money back for tickets, gas, parking. Felt very cheated by the bar, $3.50 for a soda the size of a small at mcdonalds. Things like this are the reason concerts are doing very poorly and no one is doing anything about it.

The sound, the vibrance, the strength, the lyrics, the electricity coming from the stage and the people, the crowd surfers, the noise, the people singing... I came out super hyped and exited from the venue And you could tell the band was passed on this energy, because they extended songs halfway, at the end and when they came back for the encore which lasted more than half an hour on 4 songs with long repetitive guitar riffs and returning chorus (one more fucking time...!) Of the 4 or 5 times I've seen S.D. this could have been one of the best, together when White Light... came out Really glad I lived this experience in my life time!

This was a special concert for me. My daughters (16 and 13) started listening to Social Distortion after they heard a few songs on my iPhone. I saw the show at the Ryman several months ago and decided that we would go, and this would be their first concert. They counted down the days until it was finally time to go, and it was absolutely fantastic. The Ryman is like Rock and Roll church. I wouldn't have picked a better venue. The crowed was made up of obviously dedicated fans of the band and they were very representative of the punk and Rock -a- Billy culture. They new the songs and helped make the experience complete. Social Distortion did not disappoint at all. They were very lively and active, engaged the crowd, and sounded amazing. In fact, my thirteen year old said, "they sound just like the album!"

The moment Social D hit the stage the crowd went wild and never let up (Including me). The energy they bring is contagious. The set list was amazing. After doing this for 30-some years, Mike Ness still has so much that he brings to the stage. You can tell he loves singing the same songs he's been singing for years and loves that you still love them after so long too. It was magical getting to see my favorite band that I've loved for so long. The first opener, Dave Hause, who is also the singer of The Loved Ones was an awesome surprise! The Loved Ones is one of my favorite punk bands, so I melted a bit when I realized who he was. He tried to bring the audience into his show and he was really funny at it. The second opener, Cheap TIme, I didn't really care for at all. They aren't really my thing. I thought they sounded like a mix between The Strokes and Sex Pistols if both those kinda made your head hurt. I tried to give them a chance but I just wanted it to be over. They went from one song to the other to the other without any pauses between. I feel like pausing in between songs and talking with the audience and just saying something makes the audience connect more with you. Overall, I had a GREAT time. The only thing I was a little bummed about was that they didn't play Diamond in the Rough, Footsteps on my Ceiling, Faithless, Down Here (With the Rest of Us) or Sick Boys and those are my favorites. I looked at setlists online though and I knew they weren't going to play those going in so it wasn't THAT much of a letdown since I was expecting it

This is the second straight time I saw Social Distortion. Mike Ness has such an amazing onstage presence that I was originally just a casual fan, but their show made me a big fan of the band. This show was no different. Just incredible the "hard" frontman demeanor Ness has mixed with incredible heart in the softer songs.

We arrived very early, allowing us to get very close to the stage. I had never been so in the mix. I usually will hang out on the sidelines. I was so close to the band!! The crowd got a bit rowdy, but I stood my ground. I was not about yo give up my spot up front. I have never had such an amazing time at a show. Outdoors, Mike Ness, amazing music.... How can it get any better? Mike had been ill prior to this event, but he didn't let that get in the way of the evening. The guys put on a great show. I was sorry to see it end. Mike really won the hearts of us moms when he took some of the young kids up on stage, had them introduce themselves and take a bow. They were given drumsticks and a pound from the big guy. It was well worth the 6 hours on the road to get there and back. The Stone Pony Summerstage was a perfect setting for such a great night!!! I'd love to go back again.

Social Distortion was great. Sounded good, Mike sounds just as good live as he does in a studio. I'd highly recommend seeing Social D. play.

Great Venue. Reasonable beer charges. Clean but small bathrooms. Outdoor stage set up was incredible. If we lived in the area we would go again for sure

I had never seen Social Distortion live up until last December, even though I had been a fan of their music for some 20 years. I went last December and loved them. So much so, I went again to this show and they were even better! They switched up the setlist (loved that). They were tight and even more energetic than the first time!

Great show, violent audience. Be in the first rows was complicated. Lots of gang guys, but nothing to worry about. Play it all the hits, great bands opening: Lindi Ortega and Biters. Loved Lindi Ortega. Great Biters, very electrical.

Social Distortion had greater energy and intensity at the House of Blues on last Saturday night (6/23) than when I saw them last summer. Both shows were awesome, but last weekend was markedly more energetic. There were some equipment glitches, but that aside, the set was blistering and the House was packed. I would love for them to add a few more songs from Hard Times & Nursery Rhymes, but really no complaints on the set list.

This venue has great views no matter where your seat is! And the sound was spot on. Lines for bathroom and bar drinks were minimal. I will definitly be going to another show here again soon.

Sound quality downstairs at the Masonic sucks, echo echo. Band played well, Mike Ness as awesome as ever, but the show was kinda flat, I know their sound is their sound but the songs don't need to all sound the same, the Sound Engineers were standing around bored. They could also up their stage setup and presence a bit, something more than the same old props with 2 geezers playing guitar off to the sides. Would have liked more than 1 song off WLWHWT too.

Social D was rushed because second warmup band played too long. We came for Social D, liked the first band, but got very little of what we came for. They only played a few hits, but we did get to hear a few new ones. On a number of tracks, Ness s voice cut out. Why? Dunno. Venue? Social D sound tech? Solar flares? Left unsatisfied... might have to catch another show.

Love the venue, I have seen many shows at The Masonic, every time from parking to security, food, drinks, ushers...everyone is amazing. Clean restrooms and facility. Social D used to be one of my favorite bands. Over the years they seem to have lost their enthusiasm for punk rock, and putting on a show all together. Last year I saw them both nights at The Fillmore for St Paddy's Day. Night 2, Mike Ness ruined it for me about 3 songs to the end when he verbally accosted a fan AND failed to note any sort of apology or excuse himself then or anytime after. I decided to give it another go this year, see if they could win me back. I am sorry I went. SF was the first stop of the tour, the following night the same "script" was used as the night before. Lost respect for everything I thought they were about. Grateful for all the new music we are blessed with in the Bay Area!

I really enjoyed the Social Distortion show but they didn't play several big hits of theirs. They didn't play Ball & Chain, I Was Wrong, and Through These Eyes just to name a few. It's the second show in a row where they didn't play several of their songs. I don't know if the venue had limitations on time or what but I was bummed out and several people were saying the same thing as we walked out. Great band but what's so bad about playing all the hits??? I mean come on I paid 110-bucks for two tickets. That's a lot of money for not all the hits.

Third time I've seen SD. Don't care for the Masonic. Not great acoustics. As for Social Distortion, a bit of new music, good to see as the old regulars are still good but getting a bit stale. Still very tight; vocals strong; guitars impressive. But for me the most enjoyable part of the three band show was the opening act, Aaron Lee Tasjan. Had never heard of him; great stage presence; very good guitarist though still young, and a very solid four song set. The second band was OK, but nothing special. Overall, the three group show was more than worth the money. I'd pay that much to see either Tasjan or the SD again.
