Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 at the Izod Center was a great evening. Great variety of musicians doing the music of the Band and Levon Helm. Highlights of the show were Grace Potter's rendition of I Shall Be Released, Joe Walsh and Robert Randolph doing Up on Cripple Creek, and Dierks Bentley and Garth Hudson doing Chest Fever. Other fine performances were John Hiatt and Mike Gordo doing Rag Mama Rag and Roger Waters singing The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. A great tribute to Levon Helm.

It was a good show- some good moments. For me too many starts and stops- there was little jam improvs - everyone was great and there was LOVE for Levon! With people like Robert Randolph - Warren/ Gregg- Jorma- Joe Walsh- Bruce Hornsby- Roger Waters, etc- I expect some more jamming- John Mayers had some flavor- but Joe and Robert had the most powerful moment- there was a lot of talent there, just wanted more musical interplay!

What can I say? A lot of people, musicians included, loved Levon and his music. It was a fitting tribute to a man who influenced so many. I have read in many reviews that this was Levon's Last Waltz and that's a pretty accurate description. The only things I wished were different, I wish that Garth Hudson played on more of the songs as he is simply amazing! I also wish that Randy Ciarlante, late-period drummer for The Band, was there, as well as Aaron Hurwitz, The Cate Brothers and Ronnie Hawkins. Overall though, it was fantastic! I loved Roger Waters' story about the hat. The harmonies were perfect. Thanks to Larry Campbell and thanks to all involved!

The venue was great, great view from any location. The collaborations were intense and beautiful. It was a casual evening of Music and friends getting together to create something outside ourselves. The entire experience couldn't have been any better even if it was held in a living room or backyard

Truly one, if not the best show I have seen....and I have been to many different shows over the years. Just when you think it couldn't get better you would get blown away with another great rendition of a Levon tune. Heard it may be something that might continue, above the Ramble events.. I would go again in a heart beat.

Larry does Levon proud - humility with heaps of talent and generosity. The variety of musicians and seamless changes between artists made this a great event. No speeches and beautiful music.

This benefit concert was just an amazing experience. It showed the stretch of performer's love for Levon as they ranged from country to blues to rock. The highlights of the show were definitely the finale of the Weight, Eric Church singing A Train Robbery, Dierks Bentley performing Chest Fever with Garth Hudson and Grace Potter. Such a special night, I am so glad they are putting it out on DVD.

There certainly was Love for Levon on October 3rd. Great show...one amazing artist after another. From the beginning with Warren Haynes and Greg Allman to John Hiatt , John Prine. Highlights included an amazing rendition of I Shall Be Released by Grace Potter , the stellar jam with Joe Walsh and Robert Randolph , and Roger Waters with My Morning Jacket... OUTSTANDING !!!!

What can I say? So many great musicians and songwriters at one concert, and such a great cause. A concert I will never forget. Grace Potter stole the show! (until Joe Walsh hit the stage, and then Roger Waters... chuckle) We had nose bleed seats, but an anonymous gentleman in a black suit approached us and asked if we would like better seats... wow, we got to sit in the 2nd row lower level, center of the venue!

What a show! The variety of artists paying - and playing - homage to Levon was truly an incredible experience. What dampened it, unfortunately, was the quality (or lack thereof) of the sound. Too garbled/muddied. I have, in the past, seen/heard similar - high volume - shows with better clarity - in other venues (Beacon, Welmont, etc., especially Levon's barn/ studio).

Although was a tribute/fundraiser was expecting the vast lineup of headliners to present some of their own songs. The presentation of only the bands works was often flat and uninspired sounding. First time i have EVER left a show before the encore!

I've been to hundreds of shows/concerts and this stands out as 1 of the top 3 in my life! The talent on stage that night was inspiring. It was a moving, soulful, rockin, sad, joyous evening. For those who didn't make it you missed an historic event. Levon was pleased, of that I'm certain! I would definitely attend another event at the IZOD. I must comment on the friendly staff and parking attendants!

So many artists that are my favorites all in one place for one night. I can only wish it could happen again in my lifetime. I know they recorded it and I can only hope I can get a hold of the recording so I could relive every moment of the show!!! The set list is amazing. It reminded me of The Last Waltz twenty-five years later. Unbelievable, everyone was going home with a smile from ear to ear.

Outstanding tribute to the late, great Levon Helm. His band mates in The Band ,Rick and Richard were honored as well as celebrity guest musicians covered The Band and Levon's solo work.A beautiful night. The only down side is that the Izod center is a dump, and the sound is horrendous.Music cannot sound good in this old shed.Luckily there will be a DVD so we can hear all the instruments and singers clearly.

Tremendous tribute to the late Levon Helm ... too many highlights to recount them all, but Grace Potter's take on "I Shall Be Released" was sensational. My Morning Jacket kicked tail. And elder statesmen Joe Walsh and Roger Waters did a super job on their versions, respectively, of "Up On Cripple Creek" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." Shoutout to Gregg Allman & Warren Haynes for a great version of "Long Black Veil" ... This one is likely coming via CD & DVD. Keep an eye out ...

Wonderful gathering of talent for a great cause. Sound mixer had mics off or too soft to hear too often to be forgiven. I spoke to several other people who attended thinking it might have been where I was sitting, but he was on the main floor & heard the same thing. Several times with Mavis Staples mic was off or too soft to hear. some solos couldn't be heard. Bass feedback on double bass. Couldn't hear background singers. And the drum sound which was overpowering was good for a band that wants that 20 foot high drum sound - nice job on that, but for another concert. Basically all you could hear most the time was booming drums & the lead vocal.

what a lineup! that show was one of the most incredible shows of the hundreds i've seen over the years! i had goose bumps on my arms most of the time and the crowd was incredible. the average age of the crowd was probably late 40s which was great to see because i am usually one of the older people at the shows i go to these days

From the onset until the end Couldn't say enough about the Love that was felt. Ken Dashow Q104.3's DJ started the introductions and they kept on coming through the night as many artists paid homage. Warren Haynes started us off with the Shape I'm in and then invited Greg Allman up for another. Song after song through the night was memorable and gave me new found appreciation of some artists I had rarely heard before. Roger Waters & Amy Helm's haunting version of Wide River to Cross to end the show before the whole cast of musicians came out for an excellent version of the Weight. A sight to be seen not only heard. There were so many memorable moments from this concert. The Party could of definitely continued as everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves from the musicians to the fans. Hope they get this one out on CD/DVD.

Great talent and I could even hear a few people. Grace Potter, Mavis Staples, Joe Walsh and a few others. But the mix was TERRIBLE. The lead instrument throughout was the KICK DRUM that shook the hall. It obscured everything when it hit like a depth charge. This was SUPPOSED to be in honor of Levon's barn events even though it was held in an arena. The mixer did a TERRIBLE JOB by pumping up the kick drum as if this was a STADIUM ROCK SHOW. IT WASN'T! He also gave us a CAR STEREO MIX: all treble and bass, no midrange. THIS WAS A FOLK MUSIC SHOW but you couldn't make out voices, just sibilants. When My Morning Jacket arrived it got MUCH better. I BET they brought their own mixer in, or gave the lame brain doing the mix specific instructions because suddenly there was midrange and the drums were properly placed in the mix...otherwise it was unlistenable and we ended up leaving because we couldn't hear much other than that friggin' kick drum. OH and the signage for getting into the Izod arena is TERRIBLE.

Warren Haynes started the show off with a "Bang". John Mayer and Jow Walsh showed how rock and roll has persevered by lighting the place on fire with their guitars. Grace Potter probably took the performance of the night. She left the entire arena in tears! Great show!

No doubt that there was a lot of talent in the house but the interaction with the audience was minimal at best. The concert seemed very business like and not very intimate. No pictures of Levon, few stories about him and rather a disappointing memorial to a great musician. Less performers, more time for performers on stage and more emotional connection with the audience would have gone a long way.

it was everything i'd imagined. a really varied assortment of musicians , among the best in their fields , uniting to honor Levon . best way to play that is to pick 'em out and do 'em up right .their talents and hearts combined to cook it up nice . my faves were Joe Walsh' and Robert Randolph's "Cripple Creek" and a kick-ass version of Grace Potter at the keyboard singing the hell out of "I Shall Be Released ." it was well worth the weeknight roundtrip roadtrip up from Philly .you there ?you know . missed it ? maybe a dvd , cd , pkg. ? NPR will milk the Hell out of that at Beg-a-thon time .

I didn't know My Morning Jacket or Grace Potter and they were great as well as Jakob Dylan, John Hiatt, Gregg Allman, Mavis Staples and all the others. David Bromberg and Joan Osburn was a plus.
