I took my girlfriend to see The Weepies as a surprise for her. I didn't know much about them going in, other than I really like "Be My Honey Pie." It turned out to be a great show! Deb was a real trooper, performing with a fever of 102°! Acoustic shows are when the musical talent can really shine, and this was one of those shows. Go see them!

I have been a Weepies fan for five years or so and have been wanting to see them in concert for just as long. The show at the Variety Playhouse was a long-awaited treat, and I was expecting it to be exceptional. Steve and Deb (and Johnny Flower, their bassist) blew my very high expectations out of the water! The set was impressive; the balance between music and talking was perfect; their performances were spot-on (even with Deb having a 102 fever!). It was the perfect night of music.

Deb and Steve were outstanding! Although they got a little bit of a late start, it was worth the wait. From the minute they appeared until nearly two hours later, they gave the audience an experience. The evening was a glimpse into their songwriting process. It's always a joy to hear an anecdote or the story behind a song, and they certainly delivered in their cute and clever way. The encore seemed a little gratuitous, though. It would have bee just fine if they'd stayed on and played one last song. Can't wait until the next show! Always a pleasure.

The Weepies put on an excellent show. They brought the full band and each member shined. Harmonies were tight, dynamics of the sound were excellent, and the arrangements of the material were fluid and engaging. The band played to a sold out crowd and generated a well deserved standing ovation at the end of the set that reflected the humor and charm they displayed at the venue. Don t miss a chance to see them live.

My daughters (ages 9&11) and I traveled from Idaho just to see the show. We were not disappointed! After wanting to see them live for years it was a nice surprise to see they were everything we had imagined. Their music is soulful and their lyrics can describe the human existence better than any I have ever heard. Thank you Weepies for a great experience! As for the opening act, Lucy Schwartz: My girls found her drummer to be the most intriguing person of the show! Watching their faces light up as she played was a highlight of the night!

We loved thw Weepies the first time we ever heard them back in '07 or '08. Their first tour around here was way sold out and this one we grabbed at as soon as the tickets were available. I don't know who the intro group was but they were pretty good too. As always the Weepies were awesome. We enjoyed them and their back up band. Love the new stuff but wish they would play more oldies.

The music was exceptional; The Weepies and Lucy Scwartz are such talented musicians. Not only can they really sing, they all played multiple instruments and had great bands. I was entertained from beginning to end. The venue was pretty good as well; the lines were short and we got great seats. I would pay to see this show over and over because the quality was better live than on CD. How many atists can you say that about?

The Weepies are wonderful, regardless, but they're honesty and (over)sharing during the live show were brilliant. Deb and Steve are one of the best duos out there and I'm thrilled that I got to sit in front of them and listen.

The Weepies are such great songwriters and a really enjoyable duo (plus band) to listen to. They have a remarkable talent. The show was enjoyable, relaxing, and filled with beautiful songs. I highly recommend going to see them. I waited a long time to see them, since they haven't toured much in the past.

The Weepies were simply divine. Melodic magic, heart washing lyrics, as always. The band was tight and voices were flawless. They rule. (And the opening band Parlor Hawk was a surprizing gift. Woo-hoo for a cute boy band that rocks! Check out their video on youtube-Not to be missed!)

The only bad comment I would have is that I wish it were quieter when the opening acts were playing because I couldn't hear much and I wanted to enjoy them too. Other than that the venue was nice and cozy and the performance was amazing.

I was incredibly impressed with the talent that i witnessed, however, the show was scheduled to start at 7, so i allotted time to be there from 7-10 and that would be fine to drive back home from LA. well the show didn't start until 8:21, Lucy sang no more than 5 songs and was off the stage and then another 30 minute wait until the weepies finally came out. I left at 10 and the concert was nowhere close to being done.

Steve & Deb played straight through in the basement ballroom of the Taft . They played several of my favorites from the 2 albums I own . Deb has put out a new solo album , but they didn't say what it's. Called . They each performed separately for about 15 mins . He is Very funny !! I did not know that Deb had battled breast cancer . It was a wonderful evening .

This was my second time seeing The Weepies. I can't rave enough about their performances. Steve and Deb are the ultimate power couple; they infuse each performance with so much soul and energy, their signature quirks and openness and stories compounding their tracks with a very raw, very real love. For their fans, for their family, for each other. The stripped down acoustic set was organic and "on the fly" - they picked from a list of 49 of their songs (out of 138+) and used this as an opportunity to highlight Deb's upcoming solo tracks. Very effective, even greater still in the small Wilbur Theater.

I have known of The Weepies & their bewitching sound since the early 2000s and have ALWAYS loved listening to them. I never thought they would ever come to Buffalo & I never imagined they would sound more beautiful live and in person than listening to their studio stuff. this was the BEST! So intimate, so engaged. I hope it was everything they were looking to do because it was everything and more that we as an audience could have hoped for. From the old Deb....OMG....to the new stuff, the classics, the obliged requests from the crowd and the storytelling...we LOVED every minute. I especially loved the venue. I went to the last of the two shows in Philadelphia. One we were able to reserve a seat and enjoy dinner and drinks beforehand, the other, we thought was going to be first come first serve seats but got there and they had removed all the chairs. For intimate performances such as these, standing the whole time is not ideal.

The Weepies were absolutely incredible. I would see them in concert every night if I could. My only complaint was that there were two women standing right behind me who would not be quiet even when I asked them to. I don't understand why someone buys a ticket to a show just to talk through it! But, this issue was no fault of the Weepies (obviously) and would highly recommend seeing them in concert. I wish the Wilbur would be more responsive to people disturbing the show. If someone is ruining the show for other people they should be kicked out, simple as that.

The Weepies are, simply put, amazing. They have a great live sound, and anyone who's been a fan for years can appreciate the personal touches they add to each performance--the anecdotes and humor to the little props on stage hinting at earlier albums. A special note needs to be said also for the venue selected--The Wilbur is small, thus grabbing floor/standing-room tickets made for a really great & intimate experience. You can't any better than being 10 feet away from your heroes.

The Weepies have gone with me through every life event, emotional moment and hardship since I was a freshman in High School (over 9 years). I was completely stoked to see them live, however, because how could they live up to my expectations?... My friends... They exceeded them. They were even BETTER live and it was fantastic to see just how authentic and honest and candid they are with their audience. They played a fantastic blend of their new album (which is amazing and I usually don't like hearing the new stuff at concerts) and their old classics. I for one teared up during "You Can't Go Back Now." They opening act was wonderful too, loved that they're all literally and figuratively family. Greg Tannen (younger brother) was a fantastic vibe vacillated comfortable between Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson and his co-writer Amanda Brown was reminiscent of an R&B Norah Jones. Both I will start following. All in all, a wonderful, magical night.

I've always loved The Weepies and their sound, so when I saw that they were playing just two hours away from my school, in Atlanta, I was beyond thrilled. Words cannot describe how excited I was just to be able to say that I saw my favorite band live. I was not expecting their performance to surpass my expectations, but it did. Allow me to mention that my expectations were extremely high. Not only did they sound good musically, with voices and instruments, but their set was adorable and THEY were adorable just when they were talking to us, the audience. Once again, The Weepies have given us an evening to remember! Their songwriting, musical versatility mixed with a heartwarming gift of sharing those talents combined with showmanship can't be beat! I was so happy they were returning to Georgia and the Variety Playhouse! I hope to be able to see them again and again! I brought my daughter this time, who is also a young songwriter. Deb and Steve were fantastic, as I had anticipated. This was an all acoustic show with base accompaniment only. Deb, in her frumpy smock, was bearing an illness and a 102 fever but sounded as great as ever. They are really made for each other in so many ways, not the least of which are there fantastic melodies and beautiful harmony.. If you haven't experienced the Weepies, you are missing the most talented duo in music today. Thanks for coming. I was privileged to see them twice in six months. Weepies were amazing live, far better than listening to them on a CD. I love their chemistry. The stage set was also very cute (: Only complaint was the venue and the fact that they charge for bag checks. No big bags allowed in the concert. It was $3 to check it which was really stupid. AND no water from outside. They dumped my water out of one of those re-useable containers, that was pretty obnoxious. Anything to make money...

I may be biased since I'm a Weepies fan, but the concert was amazing. It was just the duo with the bassist and the venue was intimate and not overpacked. The sound system was clear and precise with no echo or other noise (safe for maybe a couple of random signal interruptions from mobile phones). My only criticism is the psychedelic screensaver that was on loop pre-show. Wasn't a very pleasant experience to the eyes!

The Weepies' NYC show last year was magical, so I guess I had high expectations. But I was disappointed-- there were no magical moments, the set was too cute, and they lacked energy this time around. I love the unplugged idea, but somehow they didn't pull it off to the best of their abilities. And it was basically the same setlist as last year, so I found myself underwhelmed and even a bit bored.... And finally, the lack of an opening act meant that we were all stuck listening to lame radio tunes and watching stupid repeating Irving Plaza graphics on a screen for an hour before the show. Disappointing!

The Weepies are my favorite band & I am a big Deb Talan & Steve Tannen fan so this was by far one of the best concerts I've ever been too! They both have great onstage personalities & have great musical chemistry. They had the audience in hysterics several times & are even better live than they sound on their albums. I was excepting them to play mostly songs from their newest cd but was pleasantly surprised that they played mostly older songs from Say I Am You & Hideaway as well as some Deb Talan songs! Amazing performance, would highly recommend to anyone & everyone, I didn't want the night to end!

Steve and Deb were magnificent live. They were able to captivate the entire audience with their soft melodies and playful love songs -- I myself was in a complete stupor and could think of nothing else but their music over the course of the concert and for the several hours after. The past two days I have had no motivation to listen to any other music. The acoustic guitars sounded better than their already incredible tracks on their CDs -- something I thought was impossible to accomplish since they already sounded perfect. They joked around with the audience, made sure everyone was having fun and involved. Steve and Deb played two different versions of songs from their CDs, which was really cool, and played a brand new song they haven't released yet (Do Do Do). Unbelievable music, I loved the originals and the different changes. This weekend has been very difficult because I'm having such trouble talking about anything besides this concert!!

I would give them 5/5 but it was odd that the venue opened doors at 8, but the show started at 9 and basically the only seating cost and extra $25 per person. It was odd too that we had to line up before the doors opened a block a way so people that didn't wait could just walk right in ahead of the people that waited.

My 17 year old daughter and I went together and we both loved it. It was nice to see the different ages and backgrounds of people blended together in the audience. The stories were endearing and the band members seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves as they played their wonderful music. I would highly recommend this group to others that like Indie type music.

We had heard one song by the Weepies during a movie and I instantly Google'd them, bought tickets and a month later had the chance to see them perform. Of course by the time the show came we couldn't recall much about them and hadn't heard more than the one song from the movie. As concert night approached thought was given to skipping the show. That would have been a mistake! The room was packed! Deb, Steve and the band were awesome! The stories that Deb and Steve told greatly enhanced the experience! The music seemed very familiar yet completely original. The diversity of songs entertained us through the encore and into the finale! I would absolutely recommend the Weepies!

Deb and Steve are the cutest together - it is a joy to watch them on stage, singing their heartfelt music. It was a tender and personal concert and the small venue contributed to the intimacy of the experience. The Weepies make you feel good and remember that life is more than the day-to-day.

We drove down from Vermont for this concert (8 hrs round trip!!)... we've been waiting to see the Weepies in concert for years! Totally worth the wait and the drive. The set was wonderful and I really appreciated the small venue... it would be wrong to listen to that music in a huge place. The Weepies are excellent in concert, plus they're full of great stories and personality. I just wish they could have come to Burlington! They would be great at Higher Ground, and there are plenty of fans up here who would love to see them!

It was an intimate show with Steve Tannen's brother, Greg, opening up for the band. Greg is a New York musician and is a strong singer and song crafter whose sound is very similar to that of his brother's band. The crowd was enthusiastic and polite and Greg did not suffer the audience impatience of many an opener. The Weepies arrived on stage to much enthusiasm and applause and played a great set with most songs off of their new album Be My Thrill and the 2006 breakout album Say I am You. Deb barely opens her mouth when she sings and has a tiny speaking voice but somehow delivers full throttled vocals and she and Steve harmonize as well live as they do on their studio albums. The music is more energized in concert and has a bit more edge while remaining quite beautiful and lush.

Deb Talan's voice couldn't be any more perfect. What a sweet show! Plenty of stage banter and crowd interaction - Deb & STeve even kissed at the end of their set. They are so adorable. And tiny. Seriously. They are two small people with big hearts, minds, voices and talent.

I'd never seen them live, and fell in love with them a few years ago. However, seeing them in person was worth the wait! I recommend this band to anyone who loves a good pop/folk song. These two are one-of-a-kind.

Hands down, The Weepies are one of the best musical groups I have seen / heard perform live. You know when you love a group's cd so much that you worry they won't sound nearly as good when you see 'em in concert? Well, you don't have to worry about that with The Weepies because they are BETTER than their recorded tunes. Honestly, my expectations were surpassed; witnessing their poetic lyrics and musical talent s live and in living color strengthened my appreciation and love for The Weepies. The voices of Deb and Steve are magical, moving, powerful, beautiful, and tons of other positive adjectives. Their zest for life and music, and their love for each other, is so evident;. Deb and Steve really know how to put on a a great show, and I would recommend seeing The Weepies to anyone and everyone who appreciates and adores indie-folk good'ness.

As good as a sound system as the club had live sound often obscures lyrics, so, unfortunately, some of the subtlety and intricacies of Weepies lyrics was lost. Fans know them, but I had a friend along to hear them for the first time. Nevertheless, the performance was a charm; the band is such a smooth rythm section and Steve and Deb's banter and conversation were funny and sweet (e.g Steve's affable/daffy manner telling about marriage spats; being nervous on stage). I love their temperment and poeticism, but, I am ready for them to try some new melodies and orchestration and let somebody add some real soloing once in a while. Liked the stylized stars stage motif.

Deb, Steve and the band were right on. Great music and harmonies. They have a great connection with the audience. And Megan Toohey on the electric guitar! The venue--a nightclub--wasn't great. Everyone wanted to sit, but there were only a few benches upstairs. 100-200 people stood for the 3 hour concert. It's great music, but nothing that you stand for or dance to. How about Cutler Majestic Theater or Somerville Theater for the Weepies next time?

So awesome to hear them again after a few years! the time flew by and they were done before I knew it! There was a bit of waiting at the beginning of the show and then in between the opening act and the weepies - at least three or four songs worth. Just wanted to hear more!

The Weepies, despite their name, play soulful, playful, fun, uplifting, and reflective folk music all the while presenting a relaxed, fun appearance. In the intimate venue they were able to talk to the crowd and really have fun. It was completely delightful and I can't wait for the next tour!

The music was so great; they played their best songs. They have a great dynamic, and therefore very funny transitions. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to see them play.
