Grits and Biscuits has always been one of my favorite summer events. I haven't attended since 2014 and returned this year. While I loved the performances of Young Jeezy, Juvenile, and Bun B as well as the music which is always lit. However, I miss the party feel of G&B, it felt more like a concert and the rows of chairs made it very difficult to mix and mingle and get your dance on. I mean that was the core of G&B, black professionals getting a bit ratchet and enjoying a good dub session to a dirty south set. I congratulate their growth in numbers, but would much prefer an open venue not separated by railings and chairs and folks fighting to get down to the pit. We all just want to have a good time. Bring back the good ol' G&B experience or just pick a different venue.

I had a fun time, it slightly reminded me of being in high school. However, they coulda went harder! Especially for us real Southern folk! One of THE BEST southern parties I have ever attended to include all of my years at Howard Univ. We printed our tickets and walked straight into the party. We did not wait one second on a line. The music was great! The crowd was live! My friends and I danced all night. Well worth it as always.

Awesome event...genius in fact. So many of us Southerns have found our way up top for various reasons, school/careers..and LONG for a party that takes us back to our roots, southern hip hop...booty shaking...and down to earth, non-violent crowd. I had an awesome time, ran into tons of colleagues, and definitely got a good work out. This was my first time attending the popular event, and it won't be my last!!!!

The best Northeast dirty south party. I you have the yearning for a little dirty every once in awhile you need to check this event out. Its not for those that want to post up and look cute. You will get your hair sweated out and a few drinks dropped on you, but no beef will be had.

HBCU homecoming, the NYC edition. Highly recommended if you are missing the Southern crunk music of your early college years! I haven't danced like this since freshman year - it was too much fun. Was sad when 4 am came and we had to transition to the after party.

When first hearing of the Grits & Biscuits Party I was a bit skeptical of how well this would work in NYC, however I was proven wrong when I showed up to see over 100 people in line. The music that was played was amazing if you are into southern rap of the 90s up until today and I would DEFINITELY purchase a ticket to the next event if it happens again! There was no fights or problems as far as I saw while in the venue and even the drink prices were fair.

This was my second Grits and Biscuits. Me and bestie LOVE it! It s nice to have a spot where there s really good music playing and being able to dance without having to worry about fighting, shooting, or dudes disrespecting you by grabbing and feeling all over you. The venue is a decent location. However there was not enough down south music played. Obviously you want to hear the Drakes and Rihanna s. But at this event I want to hear juvenile back dat ass up, uncle Luke, ludacris etc. the speaker blew mid way through, so the music became inaudible. If someone tried to fix it I couldn t tell because it remained that way all night. (They must get better speakers for next year). The entertainment was ok, T-Pain, Big Boi and Trick daddy. There was drinks and food to purchase so that was a plus for me

I've always heard about grits and biscuits but this was my very 1st time attending and I loved it from beginning to end. I saw a lot of people I haven't saw in a very long time and the overall crowd was just very friendly and there to have a good time. The music was really good too, the only thing I would recommend is that the performers don't perform as long as they did. I personally saw how all performers started to lose the crowds attention by being on the stage for so long. It takes away from just enjoying the music and dancing and overall having a good time.

I've been to Grits & Biscuits two years in a row now, and both times have been great fun! I really enjoyed the music selection by the DJ, coupled with the judgement free atmosphere. My only complaint for both of my times at the event is the temperature of the room. The event has been held in the same room, each year, and has been about 10 degrees too hot, both times. Other than that, hats off to great fun!

I would definitely recommend Grits and Biscuits in any city. Great crowd, excellent music and superb performers!!! The only negative comment I have is the disorganization at the bar. Otherwise, everything else was on point!!

Honestly these are some of the best parties I've ever attended in my life. This was my third time going to G&B and they never disappoint. So fun. The people. The music. Everything was great. It's a party where everyone goes to have fun. No one is really worried about impressing the next person. Everyone is there to JUST have a GREAT time! Everyone dances like no one is watching. Sophistiratchet crowd. What I mean by that is most of the people there have full-time jobs with benefits, college degrees, good credit but have no problem with some old fashioned, sweat your hair out, drop it low, bend it over dancing. I feel like it attracts a 25+ crowd. Mostly music from down south.

The party had great potential for a good time, however the was shut down early, with no justification. We partied for about 1.5 hours before the lights were turned on and music turned off. I have consistently been a fan of G & B! I always have gpod time. The NC crowd was a little shy at first, but they got looser as the night progessed. Since it was a homecoming, a lot of people were a little younger than I expected, but overall I had an amazing time. See ya'll when you're back in DC!
