Marty Friedman

Marty Friedman

MARTY FRIEDMAN IN CONCERT: From his days playing guitar with metal mainstay Megadeth to his current reign as a solo six-string god, guitar legend Marty Friedman has been a virtuosic force to be reckoned with. At his live shows Friedman showcases his chops with jaw-dropping dexterity, improvising insanely intricate passages with headbanging energy while his backing band thrashes with reckless abandon. His shredding solos use scales from both Western and Eastern styles, making for an exotic musical journey to the edges of the harmonic spectrum. Whether he’s blowing minds with rapid-fire arpeggios or showing off his mastery of the rare "sweep picking" technique on his “Tornado of Souls” solo, Friedman always leaves ticket buyers thoroughly impressed and rocked to the core.

First off. the venue's sound was so resonant and full with amazing clarity. It made for an unforgettable experience when the hundreds of thousands of notes were being thrown at you. The Fine Constant is a band I've seen several times and this was without a doubt the best experience I've had with them. Everyone nailed their parts and were tight with each other. Scale the Summit blew me away with their new material as well as some of the fan-favorites. The new songs they played sounded absolutely massive and it was a real pleasure getting to see Chris Letchford do a bit of improv and melt our faces. Killian and their fill-in drummer helped bring the Scale the Summit-experience a bit of new life and it was an overall joy to watch they perform. Marty Friedman was exactly what you would expect from a guitar virtuoso and he and his band did not disappoint.

Show was crazy loud. Bass and drums were cranked, isn't this supposed to be about the chops of the lead gtr I thought? The riffs in his songwriting have gone downhill. I didn't hear anything off Dragons Kiss. Heard 1 Megadeth lick. Left after 30 min.

Rare chance to see Marty Friedman in the US, so cannot miss this one. Very talented guitar player that draws inspiration from unique places (Japanese music, the most obvious) and takes metal music to new levels. Even if you are not very familiar with his career or discography, Marty's fun personality and his awesome band members make it such a great night of music.
