Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam is undoubtedly one of the most popular rock bands to emerge during the early '90s. The band, which then consisted of Eddie Vedder (Vocals), Stone Gossard (Guitars), Mike McCready (Guitars), Jeff Ament (Bass) and Dave Krusen (drums), released their multi-platinum debut album, Ten, in 1991, and they were soon ruling the airwaves with hook-laden tunes such as "Jeremy," "Evenflow," and "Alive." In 1993, they released a second album, Vs., this time with Dave Abbruzzese replacing Krusen on drums.

TPearl Jam was unreal....after 25 years they sound outstanding and you can tell they really enjoyed playing. 31 songs over 2 1/2 hour set. Every seat was only $85! I had the unbelievable luck to wind up in GA and was amazing to see them up close.

I've seen this band countless times by now and I am never disappointed. Their energy and commitment to a 3 hour show is second to none. They tap into greatest hits and some new stuff. They are the best live band I have ever seen. Msg2 was a treat for cheap trick and sting joining them on stage for a cover each. What a surprise and a great one at that. The only down side to pj is they don't tour every year and I don't know when the next time I see them will be. Now I know why people travel to their shows!

I have gone to over 350 concerts in my lifetime and without a doudt this ranked in the top 10! The best Pearl Jam show I have seen and I have been to 6, 2 in Chicago, 2 in Los Angeles, 1 in San Francisco and 1 in Phoenix. It was so good I am trying to get tickets for the second night but it is sold out just like last nights. The quality of sound was superb and it was one of the loudest concerts I have heard, comparable to The Who. Speaking of The Who, PJ did two stiring renditions of The Who's, Rain or' me and Doctor. Vedder also did a very respectable tribute to Michael Jackson, masterfully doing appropriately Neil Young's Needle and the Spoon. For an opening night of a tour the band was outstanding especially the lead guitarist. Go to the show! You will love it and agree with me.

Pearl Jam may have been better than when they first hit the scene touring after "Ten" and "VS." They are now a much more mature band with an extensive library of work to choose from. If you haven't seen them get ready for loud. The whole crowd sings the words to the songs in stadium-like chorus- unbelievable! Eddie Vedder's ties to Chicago and references to the suburbs he knew, made for a 'back home again' edge.

I personally didn't care for their opening act (Bad Religion). Once Eddie and Pearl Jam took the stage, the show was awesome. Their setlist covered everything. Old, new, and everything in between. Definitely a show for a true hard core PJ fan. I didn't even know all the songs. They put on a great show with two encore sets.

Pearl jam is one of the greatest bands EVER. Period. Musically, lyrically, emotionally. Eddie Vedder and his team give a 150% percent during their concerts. Played for 2 hours (with a couple of small breaks in between)!

It started out with Bad Religion. It turns out that I am not a fan. However, Pearl Jam rocked. They played a good mix of songs from all of the albums. The only issue was that it was on a Sunday night and it was a little difficult to get up for work.

The best thing about Pearl Jam is that their music transcends generations and is always new, fresh, and unstoppable. Three encores, and closed with a Yellow Ledbetter. If you are a true Pearl Jam fan you heard songs that only a true fan would be familiar with. Eddie and the band sound better than ever.

It had been 12 years since I've seen Pearl Jam live and I must say that they are as good as I remember, if not BETTER! Their sound is flawless, their energy is uplifting and their genuine like for us Torontonian s is very inspiring. for all intents and purposes, i missed a great pearl jam show, even though i was there......i am in a wheelchair, and in 300 and 400 wc sections, it is impossible to see the stage when everybody stands. and for a high energy show like pj, everybody is standing for the entire show. i even had to look around people just to catch a glimpse of the video screens. considering there is no discounted price for these seats, this is absoutely unfair. if molson amphitheatre is unable/unwilling to make the neccessary changes to ensure better sighlines for those in wc's, then the seats should be sold as obstructed view seats, w/ some kind of discounted price.......

Pearl Jam as a band is simply phenomenal. I loved the humbleness of Eddie Vedder and the way he took requests from the crowd to make the public feel welcome. One feature I did not like was that we were sitting behind the stage, thus, viewed the band mostly from behind. I think in the future, the venue and/or bands playing, should consider a rotating stage if the goal is to fill the entire arena. Nevertheless, breathtaking show.

I've been a PJ fan since 1991. They don't tour the U.S. much anymore so I've waited a LONG time to see them and they did not disappoint! They played for 3 hours to a sold out house and gave the crowd much love. Eddie Vedder is Ah-mazing! I'd go see them again in a heartbeat!

They aren't 30 year olds any more, so the energy is different. Fear not, though, because the band just keeps getting better. The two-headed guitar monster is the best in rock, and when Eddie joins in, things just soar! At three hours, it was longer than any previous PJ show I've seen. There's nothing quite like the feeling of watching Pearl Jam!! Now the bad. Considering what happened 35 years ago in that building, what were Riverfront Coliseum officials thinking by not opening more doors? We arrived on the plaza at 7:30 (scheduled start time) and didn't get inside until 8:20. Fortunately, the weather was warm and the crowd was cool, otherwise, things could have taken a turn for the worse. Kudos to the band for waiting until most were inside.

I have been a PJ fan since TEN was release 20+ years ago. I attended Lolapalooza in 1992 (at then Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion) which was Pearl Jams first major tour, but as they were still relatively new to the scene, they played early in the day. Unfortunately, we arrived as they were finishing their set, and I missed them. Over the years, I just never got around to catching them live (the last time they passed through AZ was 10 years ago)... but once the tour was announced, I knew I had to see them. What we got was easily one of the best shows we have seen hands down (and we go to a lot of concerts all over the country from DMB & Radiohead, to smaller local and indie bands). Ed and the guys absolutely play their hearts out and it shows. They play to their audience better than anyone I have seen. The respect they have for the fans is amazing. They played an AMAZING set filled with rarities, classics and new material. Even playing well past the venue curfew of 11pm (which surely carried some hefty fines) just to ensure that every fan in the building got the best show he or she has likely ever seen. There are a thousand little things as well that really made the show great. From the lighting design, stage setup, even the director of photography for the video screen feed providing an almost concert documentary look to it. The venue (jobing.com arena) is nice with all the standard amenities as far as food/drink etc. Staff was helpful and the crowd was great. I didn't see or notice any issues with fans and or staff (drunk people being ejected, fights etc). If you get a chance to catch Pearl Jam on this tour, or any upcoming... DO IT! We were also lucky to see Ed perform solo in Phoenix last year which was an outstanding show as well. Catching a solo Eddie show, or the full band is well worth it. You will have fun, and they will leave it all on the stage for the crowd!

PearlJam was amazing! I have never been to a show where the band played for three hours straight and maintained their audience completely involved. The sound was great. Eddie Vedder drank wine on stage & hung from the light fixtures. Eddie Vedder is a mad man! Incredible showmanship. It's a unique rock n roll experice. But be warned: every show is different no set list is alike. Sometimes Eddie just makes it up as he goes! It's truly a unique concert experience.

I took my wife to see her 1st Pearl Jam concert. After 3 hours and 35 songs, I would say it was the perfect show for her to see the first time! They opened the show with Long Road and then went into Release. They played classic Pearl Jam hits, such as Corduroy, Porch, Daughter, Even Flow, Alive, Better Man, Jeremy, Once, Elderly Woman, Wishlist, Go, Given to Fly,etc.. Then to the lesser known, except to diehard Pearl Jam fans, powerful gems such as Around the Bend, Hard to Imagine, Alone, Footsteps, Bee Girl and Spin the Black Circle. They especially played a lot of material from Ten and Vs., and of course played many songs from the new album Lightning Bolt such as the title track Lightning Bolt, Mind Your Manners, Getaway, Yellow Moon, Infallible, Future Days and the already classic Sirens. The 2nd encore of the night included the rock anthem Rockin' In the Free World and Indifference. Pearl Jam made up for not playing in Phoenix in over 10 years in a huge way. It is not new for Pearl Jam fans to witness an incredible show from this spectacular band. They exceed expectations every time and everywhere they play a show making them the greatest rock-n-roll band and hottest ticket today.

PJ played 31 songs in 3 hours to support their new album Lighining Bolt. They played 6 songs from the new album including the self titled song, Mind Your Manners and the recent single Sirens among others. They openedsoftly with a spectacular Wash along with Eldery Woman, Animal, MFC, Even Flow, Whipping, Unthought Known, Immortality, Wishlist and RVM to close out the first set. The 1st encore highlights were Jeremy, seldom played Supersonic to poke fun at Eddie and recent sarcastic comments about OKC stealing the Seattle bball team. The 1st encore closed with the band knocking hanging lights back and forth and running between them while playing a scorching version of Porch! All the 2nd encore songs were played with blisterring energy. They were State of Love and Trust, Black, Alive, Baba O' Riley and closed with a slow Yellow Ledbetter. I am more of a rare song guy, but the trio of Black, Alive, Baba O' Riley took me to the stratsophere and I thought I would have been fine with those songs. WRONG! They almost melted my face off. Cheers to the BEST RnR band on the planet! Keep on rockin' in the free world ...

I usually don't care for arena shows, they don't feel intimate and you usually can't get seats close enough to the artist. But, i had to go to this one... It's Pearl Jam for crying out loud! My niece and i were in section 113 row s. It was a side stage view of the show, but i could see the band pretty good. They tore the roof off The Chesapeake Energy Arena. We drove 600 miles to Lexington to see Pearl Jam at Rupp Arena. It was worth every mile. It was my daughter(20yrs old) first show, my husband & I's 2nd. They are the best that ever hit the stage! I love that they change the set list every night, that they connect with the crowd, that they talk to us, even thanks us in the upper levels & know we're there! I think EVERYone who attended felt like we do, that they love us as much as we do!! Now for Rupp Arena, that's for letting me choose my seats, which was on the Mike & Jeff side because I LOVE watching Mike McCreedy He loves playing & we love listening! He's so full of energy for a 50yr old!(HA HA). Thanks again Rupp or my daughter wouldn't of had such a great time. I wish more places would use "I'll choose my seats"! PJ shows are always an experience, but this one was simply amazing. We had tickets to the side of the stage, in the front row of the upper deck. I didn't know how much we'd be able to see, but they turned out to be great seats. We were closer to the band than we would've been had we had tickets at the front of the stage. It was fun to see the roadies setting up, etc. They had a screen above the stage and it projected on both sides, so we had a great view of the back side of the screen. Fabulous show, fabulous set, fabulous experience. My only criticism is that the merchandise tables inside the arena could have been better managed. It was basically a mob. Just some taped off "lines" leading up the the tables would have been a huge improvement. Still, there was no pushing or fighting, etc. Just a lot of PJ fans wanting to get their hands on some posters and stickers to remember the night.

There we were...then PJ came on and proceeded to tear the house down! It was sort of surreal for the first few songs, but then when they kicked into 'Even Flow' man it hit and I knew it was the real deal, it could have been the early 90's all over....I've dug that band since the beginning. I've waited for over 20 years to see Pearl Jam in concert, and this show far exceeded my expectations. PJ was the last concert on my must see bucket list, so I'm very satisfied. Very skilled showmen: Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder especially, though all were very good. They really work the crowd well. It was the first major rock concert for my oldest and youngest sons. My daughter goes to all the shows I do, and she agreed with my opinions of the show. The setlist was very good. There were only a couple of songs I would have liked to have heard live, but we got to hear them perform "Immortality," "Even Flow," and "Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns" which more than makes up for anything left off the setlist. I don't like politics at a rock concert. I really am sad for the fans in Raleigh as I feel they were unfairly punished for the actions of others. I hope most of them got to see PJ somewhere else. I still love the band regardless :) I would definitely go see them again!

This could possibly be THE BEST Pearl Jam concert Ive ever seen. Ive been to about 12-13 but for them to just pop out VS in its entirety?!?!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!! Now as for "The Well" the sound was AWESOME!!! We started at the highest row possible and somehow ended up 4th row from the stage ;) #CWoods the ONLY thing I think EVERYONE would agree on is the way they had the drink stands setup....ON BOTH SIDES OF THE HALLWAYS?!?!! This caused a cluster of people in line on both sides & the traffic moving through was STUCK!!! Had this not been the case the show wouldve been 5stars. I dont hold PJ accountable for what a venue does on their layout of the drink stands. The staff was really nice & thecwhole venue was really clean. So glad I got to see this historical Pearl Jam concert. Ive only been a fan since 1992 :/ lol

I'm more of a 70's classic rock guy but Pearl Jam was my favorite band of the 90's. I have always wanted to see them live and got the chance last week. They did not disappoint. The show was on a Wednesday night and it was the last of the Florida shows. That along with the fact that they started 30 minutes late made me wonder if they were going to be into it. I forgot about that a couple songs in. The energy was fantastic. They played a 3 hour set and hit almost every song I wanted to hear.

It had been 8 years since Pearl Jam played in Florida. Although it was a long wait, it was worth it. They played 32 songs...almost 3 hours. Eddie sounded great. His voice is stronger and better than ever. Great set list, covered the entire "history".

Because of the absurd ticket sell outs (30,000 seats is 3 minutes... really? how does that happen?) This is only the third time I've seen Pearl Jam... it was BY FAR the best. They were in top form and Eddy was kind enough to to play most of the hits, even Jeremy!!! It was really just an awesome show they played for over 3 hours. Great cameo by Rick Nielson for Baba O'Riely. What am I gonna tell you that you don't already know? One of the greatest Rock bands playing their greatest hits and some stuff they just felt like playing. It doesn't get any better than this!!!! This show is now in my top 10 ever!

It's taken some time, but I have finally seen Pearl Jam in all five states that border Georgia. And in Georgia, of course. And in Wisconsin. Anyway, they certainly didn't disappoint. As usual, they performed an eclectic, 30 song, set list distributed throughout their entire history. Starting with a couple of new ones off the latest LP, Lightning Bolt, they soon dove into the older, deep tracks that give their shows the variety that keeps us coming back again and again. Even threw in a couple of my favorites, "1/2 Full" and "Do the Evolution" and their only Grammy winning recording, "Spin the Black Circle." During the second half of the second encore, all the house lights were illuminated and it was if the band would not leave the stage, quickly transitioning from song to song until they finally called it quits with "Yellow Ledbetter."

For a 3 hour concert, I definitely got my moneys worth after driving 4 hours to see them. Besides the fact of playing NO CODE in its entirety which is not my favorite PJ album, the guys played a pretty good batch of songs. I was pleased to hear a good amount from TEN. You always feel part of the show with Pearl Jam since they are great with the fans.

I've been a fan of Pearl Jam since the beginning. This was my first chance to see them live and had great seats. Now in their late 40's, PJ still has the ability to rock out like no one else. Eddie Vedder was his charismatic self, and the rest of the guys were in top form. My one complaint was that it seemed like TWCA turned the lights on right at 11pm, basically telling Pearl Jam that it was time to go. They had played 32-35 songs at every other stop on the tour to this point, but were held to 30 in Charlotte. That seemed like a slap in the face to a band who has the ability to not come to Charlotte for 10 years and still manage to pack 16,000 people into the arena.

I like Cameron Crowe. And like a good rock analyst, I will start by saying tonight was one of those defining moments, as Pearl Jam was in top form and blew the roof off Time Warner Arena, it's like U2 and the Stones in the late '80's, or Bowie in the 90's- at least for me. Eddie Vedder was your jovial, convivial host to a Charlotte crowd who had not heard them in 10 years, even dedicating ballads to married couples and remembering US soldiers in the upper level. PJ concentrated on letting the music do the talking, leaving behind the political slant. First time playing the Lightning Bolt opener track, "Getaway", as well as most all of the new album. Nice to hear the pensive 'Present Tense' and "Off He Goes" and bold tracks as "immortality" and "Low Light'. "Sirens" was inspiring. Guitarist Mike McCready was wielding angular solos on extended jams, Stone and Jeff amply backing him up including old fav's like 'Evenflow' and 'Porch', and the encores included "All Along the Watchtower" and The Who's "The Real Me". Sometimes, a concert leaves you feeling changed, this one definitely changed me, and lifted me up, and you will want to experience this more than just once! Peace, "Woodstock" Dave

First time attending a concert at John Paul Jones Arena, I have been to several basketball games there so I am familiar with the venue. For concerts, the building feels very cozy. The acoustics sound amazing. There are no echos or over amplification of the sound to make you feel like you are overwhelmed with volume. This is the best sounding building I have been in so far when it comes to music events. As for Pearl Jam, this was the best show I have been to yet for them. The building had a lot to do with it because the sound was so crisp and tight and there was so much positive energy flowing. The fans and the band fed off this and it made the show amazing. The band played an incredible set list and they proved how important their fans are to them simply by recognizing us rather than playing a boring, choreographed show. I highly recommend both this venue as well as the band, Pearl Jam is a must see.
