Different arrangements from "Fear The Future" tour which sounded produced and like the LP, this tour was more what we love about a live performance. Both were great, just different flavors.

So St Vincent is an incredibly talented person. Her songs are deep and thoughtful. She comes across as very sincere. It was an amazing experience. I can't wait to see her again in concert. The venue is good. It's reasonably compact. I was in the near nosebleed seats, but the view was good from the balcony. My only minor complaint is that the seats are a bit close together. I'm 6'2" and my knees were jammed into the back of the seat in front of me. The seats themselves were comfortable, just spaced a bit close together for a taller person. Sound was good. Really felt the music. Great experience overall.

St. Vincent always puts on a great show. This time Ms. Clark went above and beyond. Beginning with having her Aunt and Uncle, Tuck & Patti, open the show with their inspiring set of songs. St. Vincent then came out to preform accompanied only with her guitar, light and video show. Ms. Clark was warm and personable to her adoring audience. She began with selections from her early albums and ended with her entire latest record from start to finish. The set list; Marry Me; Now, Now; The Strangers; Actor Out of Work; Strange Mercy; Cruel; Cheerleader; Digital Witness; Rattlesnake; Birth in Reverse; Hang on Me; Pills; Masseduction; Sugarboy; Los Ageless; Happy Birthday, Johnny; Savior; New York; Fear the Future; Young Lover; Dancing With a Ghost; Slow Disco; Smoking Section

The venue of El Rey Theatre had a very warm feeling and the performances felt quite intimate. The opening band Wildbirds & Peacedrums had a very unique sound using percussion instruments to create their music, although I never heard of them before, it was very enjoyable. Then St. Vincent came out and all their songs were stellar and I very much enjoyed the performance Annie Clark showed. She can truly shred on the guitar and I enjoyed the evening immensely.

A transcendent experience. Annie really seemed loose and having fun. I had never seen St. Vincent live, and expected a lot of it to be sequenced loops, but it's all live (with minor exceptions). Annie *really* knows how to grind that guitar, almost reminds me of Hendrix sometimes. She takes the songs further than she does on the albums, opens them up a bit and explores their territory. What a treat! The songs are so perfect already, and then to have her making more of them as you watch... amazing. The lighting and stagecraft was brilliant, and for once THE MIX WAS RIGHT. The mix was perfect, I could hear every sound and her voice was front and center. Yay! Oh, and even the opening act was really good. Best show I've been to in a long time.

I saw St. Vincent at El Rey in Los Angeles and it was easily one of the top performances I have seen all year. Annie is an incredibly gifted vocalist and musician, and her skills translate unbelievably well in a live setting. Still thinking about it sends chills down my spine.

Great concert from St. Vincent this spring in NY. I was wondering how some of the back-up vocals would be handled, seeing as how Annie is really the only singer. The opening track (Strangers) didn't fare so well in that regard, but it got better as the show went on. The whole band has admirable chops, and they did a high-energy show.

St. Vincent is a small girl with a powerful voice. The huge band behind her keeps the energy up. She was witty and did well in such a small venue. I'm new to her music but she kept me entertained and I was touched by the feeling of her voice. Pattern Is Movement was the cutest opener ever, but I have a thing for awkward guys - they summed it up when, at the end of their set, they looked up to the crowd and said, "this is our music, thank you for listening to our music."

Seeing St. Vincent perform in person raised this ensemble of musicians to new, unimaginable levels of musical accomplishment in my mind. I thought surely they wouldn't be able to out do the easy musical genius I often find myself singing along to at home until I saw them play live. From my perspective, this performance raised the bar for all other performers, as each band member shifted between different instruments, melodies and rhythms; giving each person an individual purpose. A truly stupendous musical group who should be regaled for their ability to be diverse, yet completely unified. Easily five stars and beyond!!!

St. Vincent put on a great show! Pattern is movement was good too. The show itself was great. The venue was small (which isn't necessarily a huge issue), the crowd was very small and very lifeless. This part of the show was very disappointing, and negatively affected the enjoyment levels of the show.

I'd long awaited the performance of St. Vincent at Webster Hall because I had recently fallen in love with her album. I listened to the songs nearly everyday and was very excited to see them performed live, believing that the vocals lent themselves very well to a live performance. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. After a forgettable opening act, St. Vincent's performance did little to wake me up and I wound up leaving early--a first for me. I spent most of the show sitting in a corner because the slow music and blasé stage presence was making me sleepy. I only wish they played more upbeat songs and put a little more energy into the performance. I don't know if it was a poor set list or just a bad night, but I do know I'm not planning on spending money to see St. Vincent again anytime soon.

st. vincent is a super talented group of musicians. they're all well-versed in more than one instrument and contribute to the multi-faceted sound that matches the quality put forth on the record. seeing them live for the first time was a memorable experience. annie mixes her delicate vocals with her violent guitar playing in an effortless air. and the opening act, pattern is movement, which i've neither seen nor heard of before, were amazing. two bearded gents that play keyboards and drums with strangely fitting operatic vocals. a weird mix of waltz-like melodies, fluttering vocals, and disjointed percussion. truly original.

Annie Clark was beautiful and brilliant as she wowed the crowd with her amazing guitar playing and her angelic voice. I used to be a huge huge St. Vincent fan. I figured she'd be amazing live. Boy was I wrong. It was sooo boring! She did not perform for the audience she just played the music how it was. She barely talked to the audience. She played stuff off her new album which I didn't know and it was boring boring boring. God I was so sad I spent 15 bucks on this! I even left early.

Wrapping herself around the guitar in a death hold grip, Annie claws away flesh from bones, revealing the heart of the beast. A professional hysteric, the slaughter and rebirth occur in a single moment of precision and intensity. A musical mastery. Shamanic journey?

This show was on a the second night of her first tour behind Actor (her second album). Eventhough she claimed "it's better that it's the second night, rather than the second to last night, when we'll all be dead" I might disagree because it seemed like the band hadn't quite gotten its sea legs with no the new songs (almost all songs were from her new album). The sound was a little blurry and there were parts that should have ripped that just didn't get enough umphf from the sound guy. She's a great songwriter and guitarist and I would have like to get more time to listen to the album before I came because the performance, while together, wasn't quite what I hoped for. I think this could change over the course of the tour once they have more practice performing the songs.

Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) is an incredibly skilled and charismatic performer. Her guitar skills are matched by few and her vocal prowess is undeniable. As she convulsed and jumped around the stage during more upbeat and aggressive numbers such as "Marrow" and "Your Lips Are Red," she left no doubt in anyone's mind that attending one of her shows is a true privilege. During more introspective songs such as "The Bed" and "Oh My God," Clark's sincere emotional investment in her music and performances was more than crystal clear. A lighter moment occurred when she asked the audience to clap in time with the beats to "Marry Me." Much of the audience clapped beats that didn't exist within the song and she had to pause and laugh. It was "Your Lips Are Red," however, that truly "stole the show." This tour's arrangement transforms it into a breathtaking epic noise-rock anthem. Clark's live show is truly not to be missed by anyone who enjoys her music.

I was incredibly disappointed that this show was a solo Annie Clark show with her playing to backing tracks the entire performance. Rather than have a full band, all instrumentation (except for some guitar she played on stage) and backup vocals were prerecorded. It made for a very dull show. Having watched videos of her perform with a full band, I was incredibly excited for this show. It was a complete letdown.

This concert did not disappoint. St. Vincent is an amazing artist and the theatrics pulled off for this show was amazing. She did a few acoustics sets of her and the guitar only, her vocals were on point and energy was high. I love St. Vincent and her music. She sang and played her ass off and the visuals (costumes, laser/strobe light effects, videos on back screen) were fantastic. Though her clothing was scant (which I enjoyed), so was the actual show. With no live band act to support her, this was not what I had envisioned and hoped to see for my first St. Vincent show. It reminded me of the cheap rappers back in the day who would just come on stage by themselves with pre-recorded music. This was a step above that though because her singing and guitar playing are great. Save your money. Let's see if she tours with an actual band sometime in the next couple of years.

I have seen St. Vincent before and have enjoyed each performance immensely. However, Anne Clark's brilliant creativity was on full display at the Bill Graham Theater on Monday. I can honestly say that I have never experienced a show like that before. From the very beginning where she came out on a small snippet of un-curtained stage where after each song more and more of the stage was revealed, I was captivated the whole time. I kept waiting for 'the band' to be exposed, but it soon became apparent that, other than Anne's voice and guitar, the rest of the sounds were pre-recorded. This lead to a precision between the sonic and visual show that was awesome in its presentation. I will admit that I do wish that she was backed up by live musicians. There is a different dynamic that happens between all the players on stage that didn't occur during this show...but Anne's vocals and her absolutely amazing guitar work carried the evening. I would have been regretting, forever, had I not gone to this show. Anne Clark is truly a musical genius.

The St Vincent show at the Fillmore in Denver was an opportunity to see a powerful guitarist playing very original music. Annie Clark can shred! And she knows how to frame it in a very diverse blend of songwriting: slow grooves, hard rock, ballads, quirky jams. Her sharp lyrics paint a vivid picture of her life and observations, intellectually satisfying and memorable. I ve been listening to her album, Masseduction, for weeks before the show but, now that I ve seen the songs performed live, I can t get them out of my mind. That is my gauge for good songwriting; when I just can t let it go. Plus, she s a very personable stage presence. BTW, if the Q&A session is available before your show, take that opportunity. She plays a couple of acoustic songs and then sits down to talk to everybody. There were about 30 people there and she was very gracious and engaging, often asking just as many questions as she was answering, and about all kinds of subjects from food to the value of disappointment. I had a great time.

St. Vincent gave us an interesting show. The show mixed reimagined hits of her past albums as well as the full Masseduction album. The reimagined hits were still recognizable and enjoyable. I was disappointed with this show. The sound was far too loud and distorted. This was not St. Vincent. Instead, the audience watched Annie Clark sing and play guitar to pre-recorded music. In addition, Ms Clark had this huge stage to herself, but she could not utilize it because she wore spiked heels. I saw St. Vincent two years ago at Bogart's, and it restored my faith in live shows. I loved the opening act of Tuck & Patti. But when the opening act is the best thing going, the main act needs to reevaluate things.

St. Vincent turned the show into an art piece of sorts. Her Aunt and Uncle --artistic inspirations -- were her opening act. She followed this up with a 2 part show. The first were songs from her first 4 albums with augmented instrumentation. The second part was the Masseduction album in its entirety. St. Vincent really left it out there for the fans (22 songs I believe). Excellent performance from a truly talented artist.

Honestly a great show. There was a huge contrast between the appearance of the venue and the totallity of the music being played but Annie put on a SOLO SHOW like no other. Just her, her guitar(s), and the occasional appropriately dressed figure handing her a differently-colored guitar. The music was hard-hitting, the sound was greatly amplified in the theatre setting, and despite there being seats everyone got up to watch - there was enough room for dancing if you wanted to dance. It was magical, literally. A great performance.

The online build-up for this tour, and the new album, prepared us for something striking, visually and sonically, and Annie's live performance exceeded the teasers! Stage format, using partially drawn stage curtains, was unexpected, so the right side of the front section missed some stage action in the first set for a song or two, so post up to the left for best views.

At first, it was hard to tell what was live and what was recorded, but, I'm pretty sure Annie, the glambot, was in the house and shredding her art out. Once I realized there was no band hiding behind the curtain, I could begin to appreciate the concept. For this was truly a one-woman show and not the expected follow-up to the surprisingly successful tour that accompanied her previous disc. St. Vincent wants you to see what she can do and has come up with a show unlike anything I've ever seen. A bit of art, some glamour, a good dose of singing and a bucket load of loud, guitar music combine with lyrics and a look that create a commentary about those very elements. In the future, when we can no longer tell the difference between the machine and the human, this will all seem normal. It may not pin your ears back like the last tour, but it should perk up your brain cells.

I lived the St. Vincent 'Fear The Future' Enhanced Experience. The second half of the concert was her new CD and they're both very good. The acoustic sound check, listening to Annie listen and talk with her fans and her family was the best ST Vincent experience I've ever had - to include the much more intimate venues of almost a decade ago. I don't know what the rest of her career will look like however; anytime I have the opportunity to listen to Annie, I'll be there and bring my daughter.

I live in sussex county NJ, so naturally it took me a good 2 hours and 45 minutes to drive to Clifton Park and it was well worth the trip. Firstly the venue was pretty good. Very spacious up until the corner where the stage was. Security was pretty light and not snarky or anything at most they were pretty lax which was pretty decent. The opening act which was a Norwegian band of avant gardé origin was pretty interesting, but when Annie and her band came on it was stellar. The lighting was great and so was the sound. I was so happy St. Vincent played songs from her whole discography from Marry Me to last year's St. Vincent. The audience was pretty cool and I made some friends too. Most everything jived and I enjoyed the performance and if given the chance Id do it all over again.

She brings an enchanting stage presence and fiery nature to each song, showing that she feels every beat of every song she plays. I definitely look forward to seeing her again and would recommend the show to anyone, especially fans of her albums.

I liked the show and the venue. The opening act (pattern is movement) was good but I'm also glad they didn't play too many songs like some opening acts do. It was a good balance. St. Vincent was fun to hear and watch. The venue was a good size (small, but not cramped).

I will say that Pattern is Movement was a fantastic opener, but St. Vincent gave a very dull performance. It just seemed lazy, vocally and musically, which is a real shame because I love her music.

Annie put her heart and soul into that show. The Queen was the perfect intimate venue to see her performance

St. Vincent was amazing. I only knew about 5 songs going in, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the show!

St. Vincent is a force to be reckoned with. She put on a genuinely captivating show and was really present with the audience. I had a fantastic time. The one thing I would mention (I didn't notice a warning for this when I bought my ticket, which is why I'm bringing it up) is that the show makes HEAVY use of bright flashing strobes/lights at various points during the concert. If either myself or my companion had a history of epilepsy, I'd definitely have wanted to know about this element of the show ahead of time.

First time at the Orpheum, and first time for St Vincent. Both are highly recommended (but Annie, lose the goofy masks on the keyboardist and drummer).

Well done musically, but could use a little more energy. Also, the lighting was blinding. All in all a good show that I recommend, but could use more work on the delivery.

Massively disappointed in an overproduced concert. The blinding strobes combined with the 140-decibel performance was befitting of a Coachella stage, not the likes of a theater venue. Love ya Anne. Love your recorded music but we left this concert after we realized that the assault wasn't likely to stop. We could only withstand six songs.

Everything about St. Vincent's (Annie Clark's) show was fantastic. The staging, the music, the visuals. Everything. Hands-down one of the best shows I have been too. Annie Clark is both an artist and a performer. Her opening act, Tuck & Patti (her uncle and aunt) were also fantastic! Highly, highly recommend!

I love St. Vincent's music and she sounded great. Unfortunately, there were dreadful stage decisions with curtains up on the sides making St Vincent unable to be seen for most of the show. The show was choreographed for a small club. we were seated on the right balcony and were only able to see her a few times throughout the show. Many of the people from our section packed into the side of the balcony to see what they could from there. This made the event a forgettable experience.

after reading that on this tour st vincent does not have a band and is in fact playing to backing bass drums & vocals, I worried it might be a somewhat boring affair... I was wrong - it was compelling & very enjoyable! she plays new arrangements of older songs for about 40 minutes... then plays the entire new album in order... wish the show had been a bit longer - she is only on stage right about 90 minutes - and the recorded backing tracks don't allow for anything spontaneous... but i would still recommend! we did the vip which got us a 2 song sound check & a 45 minute q&a session as well as an autographed poster (but no meet & greet)

If all you want is to watch her sing solo against a backing track, you will enjoy this show. She used to appear to have fun playing, this show seemed unenthusiastic and overscripted. Annie can play and sing, but the whole show wasn't suited for the Ryman - the curtains she uses to create the views, obstructed 25% of the viewing audience angles. It was annoying and took away from the performance. She also mentioned transgenders and that took away from the show too. Ryman was awesome as usual!

The star rating of three was given only to offset The Pageant getting a terrible review by not giving five stars because the act was terrible, not the venue. I've been to plenty of shows at The Pageant and the sound has never been as terrible as it was for St. Vincent. However, I don't fault the venue. The backing tracks for her songs were off and downright terrible. She butchered her older tunes like Cruel and Rebirth. I was hoping to come to the concert and find love for Masseduction, but left disliking it even more. I don't know what happened to Annie... Perhaps having Taylor Swift's producer co-produce her album has something to do with it. I do understand that Annie fairs on the side of poking fun at the industry and society, but with this show and album I can no longer tell if she's poking fun or selling out. All of that being said, she has golden chops and regardless of what happened on stage Monday night, I am still a fan. Here's to hoping that she unveils this as all one big poke at the industry. (Her film was hilarious, but as a show opener it didn't set the mood for the rest of the night)

St Vincent is a quirky but brilliant performer. Great show. Only downside was the strange stage set up. Curtains covered the sides so if you weren t in the center of the venue it was hard to see. Not sure if that was the design of the show or the venues fault.

This show was amazing. It was strange and artistic. The vocals were crisp and the performance was excellent. The only complaint I have is that the video screen was very far back on the stage and the curtains blocked it depending on where you sat. I was left of the stage and while I could see most of the screen about 1/5 of it was completely cut off. This was disappointing because I was by no means in an area that is usually obstructed view.

I saw St Vincent a few years ago when she opened for the Black Keys and it was rocking. This was not even close to that. First off, I was originally standing to the left of the stage, and all the sudden 3rd song in she has them pull these curtains on the side of the stage so only the VIP people dead center can see her in this small space center of stage. A ton of us had to move to now see and were totally cramped at the back center. Then the music was all artsy and her ego flashes constant pictures of herself behind her. Won't see her again, very disappointed this time.

First of all, the sound mix was terrible. Annie was just barely intelligible over the booming, flabby bass. Now, I like bass even more than the next guy, but this was just silly awful, I thought St. Vincent was Annie and her band. Unfortunately it was Annie alone, and everything else was pre-recorded. Was her guitar live? Who knows. I guess so. When all the backing parts are recorded, spontaneity is non-existent. A big part of why I went to see St. Vincent did not appear. Disappointed.

It was more rock flavor than her album, but still one of the best performance! The special effects were crazzyyy, funny stories she shares, and her guitar riffs are mind blowing. The concert itself was an art. I really love the praise she gave to her team at the end.
