Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

The hip hop self-starters Macklemore & Ryan have gone far in a short time: they brought thrift stores to the masses with breakout No. 1 single “Thrift Shop,” released their debut album Heist to a No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200, and came out in support of same-sex marriage with gay rights anthem “Same Love.” Combining Macklemore’s thoughtful, funny verses and Lewis’ expertly crafted productions, their unique take on hip hop has struck a major chord with audiences, but what ultimately makes the duo a success has been their ability to write some of the year’s catchiest hooks.

Macklemore was awesome! Wish he would have played longer and played some of his recovery songs also but it was awesome the performance he did. Would for sure go see him again. Didn't really care for OT Genises or Busta Rhyme. Thought they played to long and took away from Macklemore.

I think it would be impossible not to have a good time at this show! From the moment they hit the stage the energy never stopped! They didn't need fancy light shows and fire to keep your attention. Macklemore himself sounded amazing live. R.L was up higher so he wasn't lost on the stage. You could see him easily. They did a great variety of songs, and interacted with the crowd the whole time. When they performed "Can't hold us" the place went crazy! Macklemore went into the crowd during this song. I am a 38 year old mom of two teenagers and can truthfully say this show just may be the best I've seen.

This was probably the greatest concert I have ever been to. Although it was general admission in Edmonton, it made it that much more fun getting front row. I managed to get there and the show was INCREDIBLE. Genuinely talented, they know how to keep it interesting, they know how to work the crowd, and they know they're fans very well. Highly recommend this show. ALWAYS.

We all love the music, that's obvious. But the performance was spectacular, exceptional, incredible! When you fall in love with an artist or band or musician, it's found through live shows. I've been following Macklemore for the past year or so and he just continues to get better and better. I didn't see one face in the crowd not dancing and smiling. Everyone was having a blast, making new friends and enjoying/sharing the love of music. Not only was Macklemore and Ryan Lewis incredible, Shad set the bar high! He got the crowd moving and kept our energy at 100%. His freestyles were so dope and fresh. The whole night, even with the rain and puddles and ruined shoes, it was a night I will never forget. So thank you.

Macklemore was so in tuned with his audience. His stories were hilarious, he speaks like a real person.,... Not like a celebrity. He performs as good live, as he does on his album. Ryan Lewis and macklemore have fantastic music, and I cannot wait to see him again some day. Looking forward for another album release one day!

From beginning to end it was organized and rolled well. The only thing was that it just took a little long for Macklemore to get set up;but when he came on it was amazing and worth the wait! The lights, effects, fire, confetti plus the music made the event even more unforgettable and I can't wait for my next sports arena show!

The two warm up bands need to study the master, louder is not better. I appreciate a lot of different venues and genres but the warm up bands blasted the "f" word so often n so loud that even the teens I was with asked to leave until the main event. Macklemore/Ryan Lewis were an absolute pleasure to watch.

The sound for the openers was horrible. There was too much bass, which made it difficult to understand what anyone was saying/singing/rapping. Macklemore was OK, very theatrical, and changed outfits often. Overall, the song performances were good. My only complaint was his buildup/stories leading to songs was a bit too long so the jokes weren't as funny as they could have been.

I've gone to a lot of concerts this year and I believe this has to be one of the best. He has such a great energy on stage and it is really enjoyable to see him live. Concert was great in all respects! The playlist was what you would expect; all of his big hits with a few new songs sprinkled in. The stage was very cool with multiple people running around and playing instruments. Macklemore himself sounded great and had great energy. He never stopped moving around and dancing. In between songs was just as much fun as the song himself. Although they all sounded made up, macklemore told great stories specific to Syracuse and was very funny. Encores were great also. They were all planned but macklemore ended up coming out in a funny outfit for "and we danced" encore plus two other songs after that. Overall, great songs, great stories, great energy, and great interactions with the crowd. Would certainly go to another show an would absolutely recommend macklemore concerts for anyone that's a fan of good music.

Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and all of the others (Mary Lambert, Ray Dalton, etc.) that are a part of this tour are truly talented individuals. They kept the energy up the entire show. There were so many moments that you could just see Macklemore's respect and love for his fans radiating off of him, especially when the crowd cheered so loudly that all he could do was stand there and smile. His music has a message and promotes respect for everyone. This was, hands down, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I would see him perform again in a heartbeat. AMAZING!

While the openers were the stereotypical rappers with every song sounding exactly the same about the same subjects of drugs, money, and bitches (odd choice for macklemore), macklemore was stunning. He had great stage presence and showed his true talents throughout the entire night including freestyling and singing otherside a Capella! And with three encores it was evident he loved being there making the performance "spot on"

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis put on the best show I've ever been to. He said Omaha gave it 100% of our energy- he gave 110%. Every single word is understood, better than any hip hop artist I've seen live. It was a production, very exciting. Loved the show. The opening acts not included. The first guys segue was talking about weed...really. You are opening for M & RL, not wiz Khalifa.

Mackelmore and RL were awesome! The first two acts were a little underwhelming, not many people knew who they were, but they were good nonetheless. I would definitely go see them again!

His show was amazing. I can hardly describe it in words. The opening acts are iffy and the set changes are very long. But when Mack finally gets on stage, you are in a dream of his grace and music. This review is really simple. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis? The greatest concert event in the history of ever. I bawled. I learned. I grew as a person. And I got to see my hero live. Tone there when a stadium full of people sing "Same Love" is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It's a night I'll never forget. That's all there is to it. Awesome show. Agganis Arena in Boston. I'd actually like to see more of them in the media as they have important messages and social causes. To be talented, entertaining and bring important messages across is great. I'm not one for listening to political rants etc on my dime when I see a show but clearly this artist is proactive in his messages in his artistry. The only thing I'd say is that I didn't care for the improv sex acts on stage. Why bring vulgarity into your show which shows women as sex objects. Seems abit hypocritical. Thus 4 stars

The shoe was so great. The two performers that came in before him were so good and got everyone pumped for the show. Macklemore has so much energy when he performs! Although the performances were amazing, a fight broke out right next where I was and a group of drunk girls brought weed in and was smoking it. Security needed to do a better job controlling the fight and taking everyone that was involved out of the audience.

So let me start by saying the entire concert was full of energy the whole time , the lighting, the sound, the dancers, were all so amazing. The concert started with his open act "Xp" or "Xpierence" as he calls himself and I liked one song of he's , I just think his flow just wasn't as hard as Macklmore though he was a real good friend of Macks. And I'm not being bias or saying that because I love Mack, I give credit where it is due and though he isn't bad he's not that good enough (in my opinion) to be a solo act. Once he was done and made a few comments and was very relatable to the audience MACKLEMORE AND RYAN came on. His outfit wasn't much to look at but, I didn't come for that I came for him and he was amazing though he focused on the middle of the crowd people at the top. I was on the left side of the audience (standing from the stage). I just felt like he could of paid more attention to each of the sides but his energy made up for that. I could barley hear the backup singers because of the backing track was too loud and overpowered their voices. The trumpet players were good , dancers, graphics, and his guest star Eric Nally from Foxy Shazam. I was impressed that Eric sang live from Macklemores song "Downtown" that was pretty amazing and the chemistry they had on stage. Overall I just feel like he could of performed more songs the concert was tad bit to short though it could be that I was having such a good time , that the time just flew by. However he did preform two new songs , one old songs, his current songs and all the popular songs from The Heist like Same Love, Thrift Shop, Ten Thousand Hours, Wings, Can't Hold Us.......I think that's it but I will definitely be attending his next Tour! Can't wait for his new album he is a legend in the making IMO..he doesn't stand for the norm or what's acceptable and that I love ...#SHARKFACEGANG

From the second Macklemore walked out on stage until the end of the concert no one sat down. He has great stage presence. He was warm, funny, sounded great live, and had tons of energy. He showed lots of respect and gratitude for everyone in his show from the dancers, back up singers, musicians, to Ryan Lewis. Macklemore surprised me with his lyrical talents. He is a perfect choice for kids that want to listen to Hip Hop but want to avoid language and inappropriate references. He is socially conscious and paid tribute to other artists that inspired him - namely David Bowie who recently passed away. Many of the more popular Macklemore & Ryan Lewis songs were recorded with other artists. In an interview with Jim Shear on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown Macklemore stated that they always try to have these guest artists as part of their show whenever possible. I was hoping they would be available to participate in this show. The show started with BomBom which is an instrumental song that allowed the band to shine. Macklemore came on stage and started in with Ten Thousand Hours ., Crew Cuts and Life is Cinema . The crowd went crazy when they performed Thrift Shop with Wanz. Of course there were several people wearing thrift shop \u2018furs . Macklemore talked about how he had let drugs get the best of him. It didn t allow him to be creative and stopped him from producing the music he wanted to. With good friends by his side, including Ryan Lewis, he was able to get sober and make his dreams a reality. He didn t preach to people that they should stay away from drugs, but rather said everything in moderation is ok. However, if you ever find that the drugs are taking over and preventing you from fulfilling your dreams to seek help. This led into Otherside , which he performed A cappella and Starting Over . Mary Lambert came on stage to sing her part of Same Love and Ray Dalton was there for Can t Hold Us . I was surprised they did this song so early on in their set. I thought for sure they would end with this. The Bay Area s own E-40 also came to the stage to perform Function . The pre-encore songs were White Walls which I hadn t realized was an M&R song and Wing$ . For the encore Macklemore performed And We Danced in a 1980s hair band outfit. During Irish Celebration green, white and orange confetti was shot into the air. Macklemore then introduced his entire band and told a story about each of them. You could tell that they all genuinely like each other. Macklemore said he was being told that they had gone over their time and they had to end the show or be fined. Everyone booed and yelled to keep going. He said he heard someone say F*ck the institution! and said, You know what that means. It means they can t tell us when the music stops. We decide when the music stops. They performed Can t Hold Us one more time with inflated balloons and streamers falling from the ceiling. This was a great end to the night. All I wanted from the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis show was a fun night of jumping up and down and dancing. I ended up getting so much more. Talib Kweli was the second opener. I had seen him once before when he opened for Beastie Boys in 2004. He brought out Res who performed a couple of songs with him. She also performed Fleetwood Mac s Dreams . I didn t care for her version. It s hard to do such a famous song well. Big K.R.I.T. opened the show. I had seen his name but wasn t familiar with his music. I did enjoy Rotation because he kept saying I m just rotating my tires, rotating my tires .

I couldn't be more proud to have artists like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis represent our fair city of Seattle on the international music scene. The hometown crowd was electric and grew more feverish with every confetti cannon blast or explosion of flames. Every time the opening bars of a song pulsed out of the speakers we all cheered until our throats were scratchy and swollen. I never felt more bonded with my city than when Macklemore & Ryan Lewis played the live accompaniment to what was basically a huge dance/karaoke party.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (and crew) poured their very souls into that concert - it was truly epic! I could have happily skipped the first two acts as they weren't really performers I'm into. I love it when a musician has solid undertones in their performances. I loved it when Macklemore told his story about how drugs and alcohol almost ruined him. People need a good example.

Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and the entire show had so much energy the entire time. He was hilarious. The set list was great. The lights, pyros, confetti, and props were amazing! Overall the best concert I've ever been to.

Great performance, terrific high energy music, good fans, and on-time means Mack loves and respects his fans (unlike Madonna). I loved the show a lot!

The show was incredible and it was one of the greatest concert experiences I have ever had. I'm used to going to small venue shows and house shows, so I'm used to that raw and intimate feeling you get with the artist. That being said, I was very nervous when I purchased my seats instead of general admission and I was nervous that there wouldn't be that feeling at this venue or that I wouldn't enjoy it but I was wrong. The show was amazing; from any seat in the venue you could see and hear Macklemore very easily. Macklemore himself happens to be one of the greatest performers I have ever seen, he made the show feel intimate, he made it seem like he was performing for all of us. Everyone involved on that stage had so much hype and energy it just made the show worthwhile. The only complaint that I have is that some of the Key Arena staff that night were rude, very rude. In the big picture though it's not about the staff or anything, I could care less about them just standing there showing people to their seats, it's all about how the performers, perform, and that night the performer killed it.

Absolutely the best performance I've ever been to! Not sure if it's because I'm from Seattle and the energy was just right. Every song was amazing. Every message he had for his audience was amazing. I will be coming to future shows to come!!!

From beginning to end, it was a concert all night long. Macklemore's commentary was funny and witty as he introduced each song. I didn't care for both of this opening acts which went too long in my opinion. I don't recall the names of the opening acts but I can appreciate that M&RL gave them a shot because apparently, they have been longtime friends from Seattle. Macklemore can deliver live which is difficult for a rapper but he manages to do so easily. Their band is super talented as well, my favorite is the trumpet player!

From the opening song "Light Tunnels", to the finale "Downtown", Macklemore a & Ryan Lewis presented what Hip-Hop can be when you take corporate interest out of the artistry. The genuine humility that Macklemore expressed was evident throughout the show, and I left feeling like I got my money's worth. I'm a fan for life!

I attended the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert Saturday, May 28. It was the greatest. They are two great entertainers. Their lyrics, light show and performance was outstanding. They are both always making sure that their crowd is having a good time. Macklemore gives you the feeling that you are watching a friend perform.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis put on the most amazing show I have seen in years! They brought every ounce of energy in their being to the stage and wasted themselves singing their hearts out and connecting to the incredibly appreciative crowd the entire night. We sat outside for 10hrs before the show - to get that kind of payoff, I would do it every day of the week!! Thank you MRL:)
