Pittsburgh Penguins

The City of Champions, better known as Pittsburgh, PA, is home to three professional sports teams – the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.  The youngest of the three teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins, was founded in 1967 in the NHL’s first expansion.  A current member of the NHL’s Eastern Conference and Metropolitan Division, the Pittsburgh Penguins previously played at the Civic Arena.  Recognized for its domed roof, the arena was affectionately called the Igloo.

Awesome hard nosed hockey in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The hitting and the will to win by the Pittsburgh Penguins in this game really set the tone for a sweep. The goal tending was excellent on both sides and Phenom, Evgeni Malkin was just heating up in this game to dominate the entire series with a goal and an assist. Miroslav Satan and Phillipe Boucher also had clutch goals to prove their worth as the Pens edged the Canes in a hard fought 3-2 overtime victory to open the series. What a game!

Got lucky...........called that am and was fortunate to get tix to game. Dead center ice. Never had such a great view of the game before. The place was rocking and so were the Pens. Took my daughters one who just turned 16 for her birthday and the other 18. The Pens organization is a class act. They know what their fans want too. The team sells out and they still give 'giveaway's" at the game. Nice touch! Koodo's to the Organization and to the Penguins.....On edge of seat whole game. Most exciting sport to see in person . Can't wait to go again. Great game, great fans............

This was the first Stanley Cup playoff game me and my husband had ever been to, and we weren't disappointed. If you're a Penguin fan and have never been to a playoff game, save your money and go. During a regular season game, it's exciting to watch your team win, but it's amplified during a playoff game. Everyone is on the edge of their seat and everytime your home team gets a goal, you're hugging strangers and high fiving people two rows down from you. It's just crazy excitement. This particular game was pure domination of the "Cardiac Canes". They didn't have a chance from game one and this magnified it. But what I'll always remember is Malkin. He was just playing like a madman. Everytime he was out on the ice, he caught your eye because he was always up to something. Then that wrap around goal was sick. It felt like the roof was going to blow off the Igloo. The most memorable Penguin game been to so far.

This was my first Penguin game in years, and first ever playoff game. After attending the amazing AFC Conference Championship at Heinz Field, I can say that this playoff atmosphere is comparable. The crowd was incredible. The standing room tickets gave us a great view--I might even PREFER standing to sitting. We could get to the concession stand and restrooms quickly, and it made celebrating goals easy--we could run around the concourse and slap hands with all the other peanut-gallery standees. That said, it wasn't really peanut gallery. The view of the ice was excellent, and hanging tvs made up for the fact that the center scoreboard was obstructed

you could feel the electricity in the air as you entered the arena. it was a terrific back and forth game until the pens broke it open thanks to the play of playoff MVP Geno Malkin. hat's off to the canes for trying, but, the pens would not let the canes get the upperhand. geno was playing like a man possessed. that game showed the world what would be coming in the finals.

Fantastic experience, fantastic game! Nothing beats going to a playoff game at Mellon Arena. The sights, the smell of beer and cinnamon nuts, the unique concourse structure where each section is like it's own little venue. I'll be sad to see this building go. I bought a single ticket and am usually not inclined to go to a game alone, but Pens fans welcome you like family.

Seats were totally awesome for this event. National Anthem was emotionally moving with Jeff Jimerson being accompanied with a 5 year old Leukemia patient, Jaddan, who stood there while he sang with her hand over her heart and broadcasted over the scoreboard for all to see. If your eyes didn't swell up during that moment, I would say that you have no heart. Best part of all was watching my favorite team play on my birthday with my daughter be my side. I'm not sure who is the bigger fan. It also helped that the Pens were up 2-0 after three minutes and both goals were scored right in front of us.

Any NHL game is going to be a fun experience. PPG Paints arena is well laid out, has great seating, and is always fun to attend. However, we have gone to games every year for the last 7 to 8 years, and the prices have always been ridiculous. And since coming to a play off game in May, the prices have gone up even more. Some 2 to 3 bucks per item. Other then pricing, I have no real complaints. Our expiriences at PPG/Consol over the years has always been positive for both hockey and WWE events.

Our seats right behind the Penguins tunnel were amazing. The game was alot of fun including a return to the Pittsburgh ice by Jagr and Crosby's hat trick. I live in Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton. WBS Pens were playing in Providence all weekend. Had nothing planned. Read Pittsburgh Pens email at 9 PM Friday night and saw seats were still available. I was just in Pitt Feb 27 to see Pens/ Jets and couldnt imagine what a playoff game would be like at Consol. So by 8 AM Sat, I was westbound for Game 5 in hopes to see the Rangers go home for the season. The money spent this weekend doesnt compare to the experience that I left with. I still have the screams of all of the goals scored going through my head. Already thinking about Round 2...

I purchased standing room tickets through the student rush program for my sister, dad, and I. I have previously attended a game with standing room seats and had good experiences both times. While the tickets were discounted, my dad said he prefers them and would purchase them at regular price. You are close to the restrooms, you don't have to move for people to get by, they'res more room to move around, and there is a shelf to easily eat from. If you are a fan you'll be too into the game to realize that you're standing the whole time.

For hockey games, there is not a bad seat in the house. I moved from 201 (side) at the very top to 228 (behind home net) down to the wall. I also checked out standing room only areas. Be cautious of standing room areas behind handicapped seating. It can be very difficult to see if you are less than 6' tall. You have to see over a ledge where wheelchair access is located. It could make it impossible to see if there is anybody utilizing the handicapped area. Besides this and the Pens playing laxidasical hockey, it was a truly amazing experience!

My first attendance to a Pittsburgh Penguin Hockey game at Consol Energy Center! I couldn't have been more excited and pleased! The arena is absolutely beautiful and I just had the best experience there! Wish I would have had more time to walk around to take it all in however but I would definitely go again!

I really enjoyed attending my first game at CONSOL energy center! Even though we lost the game I attended, I had a great time interacting with other fans and cheering on the Pens!

Don't get me wrong, I love hockey games. I've been to more then my fair share in other cities and even in Pittsburgh when it was at Mellon Arena. This was my first game at the new place and I was really disappointed with everything (save for the players/game). The arena is one of the newest in the arena and yet I'd rather go to Nationwide (Columbus) any day. Maybe in the Igloo the low ceilings and tiny corridors were cool because it was old and gave the place that vibe but this place is practically brand new. I was expecting something more. I felt so smashed together just walking the concourse much less anywhere else. And the entrance was so tiny you could barely move right before they opened the gates. The location of the shop was poorly planned. Maybe on a free day going to the shop would be nice, but there was just no room in there! Although they had way more selection then I had ever seen online. I like to watch warm ups in Columbus but since I was in Pittsburgh I wanted to see the Penguins instead. I had to go to three different aisles before I actually made my way down there! They were very rude and blunt about saying no I couldn't go down there. But guess what? I did make it down there and no one seemed to have a problem with it. Heck, I wasn't alone once warm ups started! The fact that there is only a upper deck and lower deck is annoying too. The number of steps just to go anywhere seems endless. And the seats are so jammed together it's madness. Especially when you remember they are paying quite a pretty penny for them. I sat in the upper deck and I felt like if I fell over I would go flying right out of the upper deck, it was SO STEEP! The people around me were also very rude - bordering on snobbish about their team having to get all the calls and all the goals. It was not at all what I expected.

Nail-biters are fun games to watch, but so are games where your home team just crushes the opposition. Gino scored a hat trick, Staal had 2 (including a short-handed goal), and Fleury shut down just about everything Tampa Bay had to throw at him. An 8-1 victory is a really entertaining one to watch, and it seemed like the whole game was a highlight reel.

Excellent atmosphere, much better than in Toronto where we visited the night before. Great arena, great fans, great team. Ice Crew was also good.

We enjoyed a Limo ride to the February 11th Pens game.. The Pens won 8 to 5. Beating the Jets.. Our seats were awesome and the crowd was great. It was my sister Sandys 50th Birthday. Had a great day.. It was cold but the Limo ride was great and we did not care about the weather..
