Russell Howard

Russell Howard

Russell Howard, one of the UK’s funniest and most successful comedians, returns to his first love, live stand-up, with his first tour for three years. Wonderbox follows his sell-out, thrice-extended, 2011 UK tour, which included three sold out dates at London’s O2. In this new show, the star and creator of the award-winning hit TV show, Russell Howard’s Good News, promises us more of his trademark brand of upbeat and razor-sharp comedy. Don’t miss the chance to see this unique comedian on his biggest tour to date; back on stage, on-top of the world, doing what he does best.

This was the second time I got to see Max Rosenblum and Russell Howard perform back to back and both times, it was exquisite. Both comedians are delightful and their comedic styles compliment each other well. 10/10 would recommend and would see again!!

I've been a fan of Russell Howard for about six years now and it started while watching Mock the Week. After that I found his special 'Right Here, Right Now' and I was hooked. I really like his kind of comedy. He's not overly cynical, he interacts with his audience and his message about having fun and laughing to make the world a brighter place is a nice change. My face and stomach genuinely hurt after the show because I laughed so much, and I think we could all use more of that. I hope he comes back to the Midwest again in the future and I look forward to seeing more of his comedy.

We lived in the U.K. and watched The Russell Howard Show all the time. He is so funny, bright, and quick. He reminds me of Robyn Williams.

Russel Howard was absolutely amazing. Hilarious! He connected with the audience and had us instantly. He deserved better than this dingy venue though. He easily would have sold out a bigger venue.

So glad that Russell Howard came back to perform in NYC. I honestly couldn't stop laughing the whole time, even with tears rolling down my cheeks. He's a brilliant comedian with lots of wisdom and positivity. I hope he comes back again next year!

So hysterical. So funny. No cultural gap (if you were worried about him being a huge "British" comedian. He isn't - he's just funny!). Great energy, great skits. Will def see him again!!

I've been a fan of Russel Howard for many years, having first seen him on "Mock The Week" and then his own show "Russell Howard's Good News". He didn't disappoint, and I laughed until I cried and gave myself belly ache. His observations about his time in America were so spot on, and as fellow Brits abroad we totally got why he was wierded out by some stuff, while the mostly American audience loved his take on parts of their culture. If you've seen any of his stuff on TV you know what to expect, there's bad language throughout, his family may never forgive him and you will laugh until your sides ache. As a side note, this venue is a synagogue and very beautiful, and despite seat allocations we were sat in the pews. A bit disconcerting but certainly the most beautiful comedy venue I've been to.

I've seen Howard on various British panel shows but never in person. I was actually surprised to see him doing an American tour. So, so glad I bought tickets. He interacted with the audience, told amazing stories about his family, and made me cry with laughter. A great night all around.

I know...the title sounds a bit contradictory but I bought tickets after hearing this guy for the first time on a late show five days before the concert. We did not stop laughing from start to finish. No sour notes. Charming kid. Venue was at best a 6 with lighting and sound that were far beneath what I would expect at a middle school production.

SO much to recommend this event! We'll start with the venue. It's wonderfully located about a 10-15 minute walk from the Wharf and loads of restaurants and bars. We had a bit of a time finding a place that had a full bar and some snacks before the show...but have no fear, Cobb's Comedy Club is here! Their food was EXCELLENT! The macaroni and cheese bites, chicken wings, and quesadilla were particularly scrumptious. And their signature drinks were all delicious as well (I'm especially lookin' at you Mellow Cocoa...). And the service was quick and friendly. Now for the entertainment. The opening act/MC (whose name, for the life of me, I cannot remember...I feel terrible) was hilariously witty (loved his bit about "just stop rapping" ha!). And the headliner, RUSSELL HOWARD, was (as per usual) utterly brilliant! I love his style of comedy...clever and silly, he pokes fun at others just about as often as he pokes fun at himself and his family, and he always engages with his audience. I have been a fan of his for a couple years now, and I've been desperately trying to get my friends to come along with me to his shows. This year, I got a double dose of happiness in that I convinced some of my friends to give it a go, AND one of them was called out during the show (she was the lady who also had the lazy eye for anyone else who was at the show). The evening was a complete success! I would recommend to anyone who had the opportunity to experience this venue, do it and enjoy. And to anyone who gets the opportunity to see Russell Howard, DO IT and laugh your bloomin' ass off!

I was a little hesitant about buying tickets for the show since I knew very little about Russell Howard and his comedy. Ended up purchasing the tickets because they were only $30 and it was a great decision. He was hilarious, one of the best comedy shows I've been to. His jokes were great and he was very quick on his feet and worked with the crowd well. Highly Recommend.

The venue was small and intimate, there weren't enough chairs for everyone so some had to stand. It didn't matter much though because Russell Howard did an amazing job, and his warm up guy was pretty decent. I loved it! Please have him back in Boston again, anytime.

Russell was absolutely fantastic! He had funny banter with the crowd and seemed to genuinely enjoy his time in Boston. The venue itself was average. We had to stand up. Drinks were expensive. Parking wasn't obvious when we first drove by.

One of the best stand up acts I've seen live in a while. The jokes were incisive, smart, outrageously funny and delivered with impeccable charm and Britishness!

This show was fantastic! Russell Howard did not disappoint, bringing all the energy and charisma he has on TV into the small, but well sized, crowd at the TLA. Audience was filled with many die-hard fans and show was intimate and fun. Some jokes did not fully transfer to audience (a couple of jokes about women and abuse did not get big of laughs) but, overall the audience had a great time messing with Russell and teaching him the ways of the rowdy, but sweet, Philadelphians. On a side note the opening act was not super fantastic, felt very stiff and cliche.

Wanted to see RH while back in the UK but couldnt find a show and stumbled on the fact he was coming to philly! Bought tickets immediately and couldnt believe our luck - we were 3 rows off centre stage! perfect seats! He was epic-ally funny and because the venue was small he interacted with the audience a lot which was excellent! I hope he does return as we will buy tickets to this again! I did recommend to a friend in Chicago who might also be going!

Being at the Russell Howard show was magical! I was so excited to know that he was going to be close enough for me to go see him live. I wish that I could replay that night over and over again. There is no way that I'm ever going to forget the opportunity to watch this amazing British stand up comic live. And what made it even better was that my best friend came to the show with me and Russell Howard was his first stand up comedian he ever watched live and he absolutely loved it. I'm so excited that the 6th and I hosted Russell Howard at their venue. They made an amazing choice! It was a night I will never forget!

I've been a huge fan of Russell Howard for years, and at this point, I've legitimately memorized his stand-up routines as well as much of Good News. Unfortunately, this means that I was hyper-aware that approximately 80% of this show was old material. I still enjoyed the evening immensely; indeed, I had difficulty breathing for much of the show because I was laughing so hard. His opening performer, Max Rosenblum, was phenomenal. I am immensely grateful to Russell for picking him, because I've now found a new comedian to add to my list of favourites.

The event was horrible- he really is not that great as a comedian. More than half the show was filled with graphic sexuality jokes that were quite inappropriate. He barrages the audience with personal opinions about sensitive socio-political issues; and I just found it all so irrelevant. I think the worst part for me- was that he lacked a cultural context or understanding of American life in general- so his material was mainly focused on his family and native town in Bristol. If you have no idea about these places, it was so irrelevant and actually boring. Finally- comedians who always have to go the basest form -i.e. rely on sexual jokes for all their material; just seem immature and reveals a poor craft . Why not take your act to the next level? I felt insulted and assaulted by the whole barrage the entire evening- I actually wished I could get a refund. Definitely not worth it- I was so utterly disappointed.

I loved everything about this event! First off, I love visiting The City. I've only been familiar with Russell Howard for a little over a year, but I knew he was pretty well known (at least overseas) and expected the even to be held in a large amphitheater. I was delightfully surprised to find it held in an intimate little comedy club! The Punchline's atmosphere was lovely: clean, nice lighting, comfortable seating and space. I sat near at the bar and had a nice conversation with a couple of the bartenders (they were very friendly..not in a creepy way or anything, and I'm sure it's part of their job, but it didn't feel forced so I appreciated it). I had parked in the garage below the comedy club (which closed at 10...which meant I would have to leave early), and the bartender was kind enough to let me know when would be a good time and where to move my car so I wouldn't have to leave early =) Now for Russell Howard...he was, of course, brilliant. He had the entire room (which consisted of mostly folks who had never even heard of him) absolutely in stitches! He was friendly and engaging with the audience, and as usual his bit didn't seem too structured - like, he's flexible with his stories and jokes and tells the ones that seem appropriate for the audience that he's talking to. It's like you're just hanging out with your buddy and exchanging weird stories. The thing I really appreciate about Russell's brand of comedy is how incredibly smart and witty he is without being mean. Sure, he takes a crack at people doing ridiculous things, but he also makes fun of himself and his family...he genuinely just wants to make people laugh from a good, non-judgmental place. And he's incredibly successful at it. Bottom line is: loved the venue and ADORED the entertainment. I will definitely be back!

He was amazing, even if some of the audience wasn't familiar with his work. Though the set was mostly made up of new material, he threw in a few of the classics from his previous tours that he knew he could get laughs with. Howard handled the crowd very well, and his opener, Mark Normand, was also very good as usual.
