Vertical Horizon and Tonic with their songs of the 90s and early 00s were literally music to my ears as they rocked the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon! Their chemistry among themselves and with each other was evident and made the entire show that much better! UNFORGETTABLE!

The Vertical Horizon show at the Golden Nugget was awesome. The venue was quaint and intimate and the perfect size to see one of my favorite bands. I've seen VH many times and they just seem to get better and better. Their shows are like an informal interactive jam session right up until they play one of their poignant and moving songs. Lead singer and writer Matt Scannell's story telling while introducing their songs is the perfect set up to the incredible music they play. I know a lot of people come to see their older stuff (i.e. the Everything You Want) and I'm a huge fan as well but their new music is fantastic. There's not a new CD since the ground breaking Everything You Want CD that I don't fall in love with a half a dozen songs or so. I'd see these guys every week if I could. Keep up the great work guys and can't wait to see you again.

I saw Vertical Horizon at the HOB in the Cambridge room. Small intimate venue. Opening bands were very good. A few sound problems. Then came Vertical Horizon. I have been to many shows and I can tell you.....they delivered...in a big way. Amazing talent. Great songwriting, vocals, musical arrangement and the incredible guiter playing and drums rocked. One of the best shows I have seen in a long time!

Matt Scanell looks exactly the same as he did 10 years ago. I am a super fan and this was the first time I saw them headline. So I guess I am not a SUPER fan but they never came to Cleveland. LOVED the show! The opening act was great!

My 16 year old wanted to attend, so my husband and I gave in and went. Late night for us, but well worth it. They were great! I am so glad we went. Revolution Hall was a great place to see them. My daughter was all happy, she was right up close to the stage. She got to meet them and get their signature after the concert. Definately the type of band that doesn't mind mixing with us regular folks. If they are in your area definately go see them you won't regret it.

Vertical Horizon is a great band, and it was great to see them on stage finally. The Venue left a lot to be desired, But thats Recher for ya. Definately was not a packed venue at all either. But That just made the band play more hits for a Dedicated fan base/crowd. Good Cheap Time.

Vertical Horizon recently released their cd "Burning the Days" after a six year hiatus and as a band the music is as strong as ever and so is the band's ability to put on an amazing show. The band's chemistry between each other and the ability to interact and relate to their audience make for some amazing moments for fan participation during the show. The band takes time to craft a stellar setlist which enables enables them not only to create a varied and diverse setlist showcasing new songs off the album like "All is Said and Done", " The Lucky One"," Middle Ground" and "Carrying On" which it's subtle instrumentation showcases lead singer Matt Scannell's ability sing from the heart with depth, emotion and range. However, the band's setlist does not confine itself solely to new tunes but refreshes old ones as well such as "Give you back" which is begun acoustically and ends with a full band and " Liberty" a welcome suprise since it rarely played in concert. All in all, Vertical Horizon started the night strong and ended the same with "Everything You Wanr" and an encore of " We Are" with a "Comfortably Numb" Pink Floyd interlude and "I'm Still Here" which is is a song about standing tall in the face of adversity and Vertical Horizon can stand proud because they are still here and so are their fans.

VH put on a very good show. They played old favorites (some with extended instrumentals) and songs from their new release. They had energy and really seemed interested and seemed to enjoy themselves. They played a long set with a very satisfying encore. The performance was everything that you would want from Vertical Horizon.

Great show, perfect weather, awesome music! Vertical Horizon was really on their game-a great live band, they really know how to engage the audience. Played the best of their hits, a few great rocking tunes from their big CDs, Go and Everything you Want, 2 or 3 accoustic songs from the really old stuff, and several from the newest CD that releases next week, Burning the Days. Matt Scannell is quite the showman and Keith Kane was flawless. They even brought up some of the Pat McGee Band members for a few numbers. Save Me From Myself, the new single, was a high point to the show. But the best was the encore of We Are with a segway into Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb then back to finish out We Are. What a show! Pat McGee Band played before VH. They were awesome. Started out with Anabelle and Elizabeth, two favorites, then went right into some of their best from These Days, Save Me and General Admission. Pat's vocal's remind me of Jackson Browne-They even covered "Runnin' on Empty" and I have to agree with his Mom, they do it better. Brian F is a master on the guitar. Chardy on Percussion ROCKS. They are five guys living in 5 different states, but they play like they are together every day. Best of all they are havin' fun, and the fans do too. If you haven't seen either band, get there. Both are amazing live. But if you can't get to a show, pick up a CD. These two bands are way too underappreciated!

This isn't a large venue which makes it a great way to see bands on a personal level. I couldn't have been happier with the event and the bands on the stage who seemed to really cater to the crowds! I was introduced to Shane Gamble's music, meet Pat McGee who is one of the nicest guys out there and Vertical Horizon really got the crowd involved in singing along with their music.

I love Vertical Horizon's lyrics and the stories they tell, so I'm a bit biased about the group and the fact that I am always entertained by the sounds of the band. However, the sound was a bit out of whack in the venue this night, but it could also be that I was right in front of a speaker that we were told wasn't operational. I've seen them more than 6 times, and am never disappointed, and I'm expecting the next time I can arrange to be a VIP so that I can tell them how moved I am by their music. Crowd is also always into the music too, which absolutely helps.

I bought the tickets because I love three or four of their songs, the ones which receive a lot of radio play back in the day. I ended up loving this concert so much because I heard new stuff which was as good or better than their old stuff. Plus there was a genuine connection with the audience. Opening act was a very young brother-sister duo with powerful stage presence and dramatic but not mawkish lyrics.

Vertical Horizon (Matt Scannel) has long been my favorite band. Matt's writing skills are unsurpassed. He touches all the points with me as far as brilliant lyrics, melody lines etc. and as a guitar player myself I think Matt us sadly unrecognized for his lead guitar prowess! So imagine my delight to see them live and watch Matt tear it up solo wise. The whole band was so tight! My only complaint (not really a complaint ) is that there wasn't another 2 hours if show as there were probably another 20 songs I was dying to hear. If you ever have a chance to see them live, leap upon it as you will not be disappointed!! I'm looking forward to their next return to New England

I have seen V.H. at least 4 or 5 times and they are one of my favorites. This performance was not great though, as either the band or the venue was having major problems with the sound system that not only affected the quality of the sound but also the performance as it was also causing significant problems with the in-ear monitors for the band. They even had to stop one song and start over. A shame - they are so great, but difficult to perform under such conditions. Footnote for Matt - I'm not in love with your seemingly new, much more processed guitar sound. The "Eric Johnson" tone works for the new song but other than that I'd much rather hear the lead guitar cutting through the mix a whole lot more than it did.

Vertical Horizon played a great show at B.B. King's in Manhattan. The venue was absolutely perfect. Sizeable enough to hold a good-sized corwd, but laid out well enough so that the packed house remained comfortable with great views of the stage wherever you might be. The set list was a perfect combination of old and new songs. Props to the sound crew for an absolute perfect mix.

Went to the show for Vertical Horizon but really got into the Tonic set as well. Sound quality was not great but that is more due to the venue than the equipment or bands. That said, when either band returns to Nashville I will be there to see it.

I've been wanting to see this band live for a while and I was familiar with Tonic who was headlining with them. Vertical Horizon got the audience involved with their music while explaining his purpose behind writing certain songs. The audience would sing along to the song while he played and at times he instructed the crowd. However, the band Tonic just picked newer songs to jam out on. So, you basically got a 15 minute version of Sugar with a guitar and drum solo which would have been better during Open Up Your Eyes.

I loved the VH show. Went specifically to see them. Bought M&G ticket, expecting to M&G with VH. They told us as we were going in that the M&G was for Tonic, NOT VH. Made this abundantly clear throughout the evening leading up to the show and prior to the VH set. After the VH set they apparently decided they would allow M&G ticket holders to M&G with VH but at that point I had already left so I missed it. NOT Vertical Horizon's fault. Wildhorse dropped the ball there.

The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars was Tonic. Could not believe that Vertical Horizon would be the "warm up" band and since when does a warm up band play for 90 mins and an encore? Matt performed so well and the way he interacted with the crowd was great! We along with about 30 others walked out after 20 mins of Tonic.

Vertical Horizon was great! Loved all the "stories" behind the music. What he was feeling and/or what was going on his life when he wrote the song. I've always loved TONIC! Tight sound, great songs. Definitely a highlight of the night for me. Every time I go to the Wildhorse I'm reminded of what a great venue it is for bands. Nice airy, great sound, great views of the stage. We were greatly looking forward to this show, because we had seen VH before and they were excellent. VH was in its heyday when my husband and I were first dating, and I always associate their music with our romance. I play Everything You Want on Valentine's Day. After about 3 songs of Matt asking the audience to sing the song, I was over it. Asking us to sing more by saying "I'm greedy" once, might have been heartwarming. But using that same line again was not cute nor funny. Out of the whole night, there were maybe 2 or 3 songs that we were not asked to sing alone (or sing alone) during. The stage lights were often turned directly on the audience while we were singing too. Perhaps Matt was having trouble with his voice; he alluded to a special drink for his vocal chords. Regardless, by halfway through, I couldn't wait for the show to be over. On one or two songs, it's nice to acknowledge that the audience knows your hits, it's heartwarming and good fan connection. But not on every song. We paid to hear the band, not to come out for a singalong.

I've been wanting to see Vertical Horizon and have been wanting to go to the Paramount for awhile, so I figured I'd get two for one and see VH there! The venue was great. I had bought tickets for seats, but was able to walk right up to the stage without getting hassled by security. I'm not familiar with Dishwalla and Tonic, I only knew a couple of songs from either band, but I felt Dishwalla played great and Tonic, not so much. The crowd seemed really into Tonic, but I felt the lead vocalist sounded very whiny and kept the same tone for every single song. I love "If You Could Only See," yet in person I was really disappointed hearing it. Let's just say I was verrryyy relieved when Vertical Horizon finally came on. They opened with "You're a God" and had everyone in the place singing. The lead singer took time before every song to talk with the crowd, making jokes or explaining his inspiration for the upcoming song. They played really well, but I definitely enjoy their music from the nineties better than their more current stuff. They introduced the song "Lovestruck" from a soon to be released album.....::shudders:::....songwriting went out the window on this one!!!! Thankfully, they redeemed themselves by ending the night with "Everything You Want." Overall, it was a decent show. I wouldn't mind seeing Vertical Horizon again, just for the sheer nostalgia.

Being a big fan of Matt Scannell, I've seen him play live with and without Vertical Horizon several times over the years. As always, Matt and his band put on a great show. They played a good variety of Vertical Horizon's songs from their history. Many songs I had never heard them perform live until this show. And naturally, they played several songs from their new record "Echoes From The Underground" as well. They sounded great and Matt always interacts with the audience, sharing some behind the scenes stories about his songs. The opening band was Dishwalla, followed by Tonic, and lastly Vertical Horizon. Dishwalla played their radio hits and sounded fine. Hard to believe that "Counting Blue Cars" is already almost 20 years old! Tonic also had a lot of fans in attendance. They played many of their hit songs as well as some less popular music. Lead singer Emerson Hart sounds great and still performs with a lot of energy. The concert was really good and everyone had a great time enjoying a night of good music.

First, the venue at the Howard Theater is excellent. Great location with easy street parking and plenty of restaurants and pubs in the area for pre-show. Sound was good and clear, if a bit loud. Dishwalla opened and they were so-so. Not a lot of variety to their sound, one or two really good songs, but overall not anything to write home about. Can see why they were pretty much a one-hit wonder. Tonic played second and they were outstanding. This was 3rd time seeing Tonic and it was the best thus far. Plenty of energy, engaging with the crowd and a great selection of songs from throughout their career. Vertical Horizon closed. And although they were good, it was a tough act to follow such a good set from Tonic. Perhaps if they had played 2nd it might have seemed better, but as it was their set was just mediocre.

Second time seeing Matt and band. Matt is an amazing, gifted writer, poet and musician! Band sounded great! Only draw back was they went on way too late and did not play long enough! The Paramount is an excellent concert venue but they need to work on their sound system. We sat in the seats in the back, the sound was too distorted, so much so that when the lead singers spoke we couldn't understand them. Loud is fine, but it needs to be clear/audible. As far as the concert, Tonic & Dishwalla were on stage too long thus Vertical Horizon went on way too late and we had to leave after just 3 of their songs. Most people attend a 8pm Vertical Horizon concert to see Vertical Horizon not to sit through the opening acts for 2+ hours. Live and learn....

Dishwalla was great. We came to see Vertical Horizon, who we assumed were the headline act, but apparently Tonic thought it was the headline act. Tonic played so long, their drummer actually left the stage to use the restroom. Food and Bar service to tables had stopped before Vertical Horizon even came out and then they played far less than I would have liked. The show ended abruptly ass well. For what they played, Vertical Horizon was fabulous, but they could have played a lot longer.

I'm a huge VH fan, but thought Tonic was better, played much longer and that Dishwalla was really good. I was very impressed with the Howard Theatre. Great venue to see a show. I highly recommend you guys going there. Out of all the theatres in the DC/Baltimore areas, this was by far the best, especially acoustically. Matt Scannell was awesome and they played alot of songs from the new CD, but the show was really short compared to Tonic and no encore. Tonic played and Irish song at the end and a rendition of The Smith's 'How Soon is Now" , which was terrific. Hope these guys continue to play together for the rest of the sprng and summer and that they come to Baltimore.

I was there to see Tonic and they delivered despite a subdued crowd. Vertical Horizon was good but was unable to get the average sized audience to sing along. Vertical Horizon came on stage kinda late and we started to see some headed for the door early. If dishwalla came on stage at 7 instead of 7:30 I think the crowd would have been more receptive to vertical horizon later that "school night". Props to Tonic...u guys rocked!

We went to see openers Dishwalla. Apparently so did most of the very sparse Friday night crowd. The band currently consists of original members Rodney Browning Cravens on guitar, Scot Alexander on bass, George Pendergast on drums, Jim Wood on keyboards, and Justin Fox on lead vocals, who in 2008 replaced original vocalist J.R. Richards. The set was way short - 5 songs - which were inhaled deeply. A full 1/3 of the crowd hit the exits when they finished. Tonic are terrible. Emotionless, lacking soul, meh vocals, bland songs. And Vertical Horizon were only slightly better. By the time they were halfway through their set, the house was pretty well empty.

What a great show! All three bands came ready to rock and the energy was awesome. I am very partial to Tonic, one of my favorite bands ever, and they totally rocked it. Smaller venue meant there was not a bad seat in the house and the lead singers hung out outside afterwards so you could meet and greet, which totally rounded out the experience and made for an amazing night. A friend bought me a ticket to see VH at The Coach House. When I got there and saw the band, it was actually a different band that I thought we were seeing! Surprisingly, I enjoyed the heck out of Vertical Horizon! We went again to see them a few weeks after that at Roxy with Juke Kartel! Looking forward to seeing BOTH bands asap!

Vertical Herizon I could care less about, I went to see the opening act of Juke Kartel. They are amazing! So cute and so talented! I don't understand why they haven't blown up yet here in the States. (They're from Australia) Vertical Herizon was quite honestly, boring. Their lead singer gave long winded explanations about each song and why it was written before singing it, which I'm sure their fans loved, but I just laughed at. The 5 star rating is purely because of JK! Their energy was amazing, it was a perfect set list....an overall amazing performance by my favorite band.

Matt Scannel is not only a fantastic vocalist but also one of the greatest guitar players I have seen. Incredible how he invokes the sounds he does out of a guitar.

Matt has a great voice and he engages the audience. Awesome music and very entertaining. I like hearing the stories behind some of the songs. They played for 2 hours. Even though The Coach House is a small venue, they played as if it were for a huge stadium.

I had never been to a concert at the Fine Line in Minneapolis, but the acoustics are phenomenal. I was glad we got mezzanine tix because the sound is much better up there. VH rocked the new release album as well as the older favorites. We Are with a Floyd influence was a great end to the night. They may just sound better live than on the record.

Vertical Horizion was amazing at the Fine Line last night. Intimate, personal, and amazing. All the hard driving guitars you want with a tight drummer and amazing bass line. Matt and Keith have fun - and so the crowd does too! Great variety of material including some "acousticy" stuff. These guys are a huge national act yet they play like they are your buddies playing in your garage - so humble yet so talented, a very heart felt performance. Matt talks and works with the crowd, everyone sings and has a great time. A solid 2 hours of music covering hits and new stuff. One of the best shows I've seen! I hope they come back to Minneapolis soon!

Vertical Horizon put on a GREAT show. They played all their old hits as well as many songs from their recently released album. So glad I went. Worth every penny.

Vertical Horizon totally rocked yet again!! This was my 4th time seeing them and they did not disappoint. They again had Cory McCormick with them on bass, he is amazing!! And Matt tore up the guitar as usual. They played a good mixture of old and new stuff. I hope they come back soon!!

This show was awesome! One of my favorite venues and we had a good viewing position to see the whole band performing clearly. Their energy and musical talent is amazing! They performed a lot of my favorite songs both old and new. They had a good mix of instrumental solos to make the show more interesting than just performing the songs exactly like how they were on the studio record. In the middle of "We Are" they inserted a cover song (Comfortably Numb originally by Pink Floyd) which was an awesome interpretation!

Wasn't a very good turn out in Grand Rapids and a lot of people missed a great show. Vertical Horizon provided a good mix between their old hits and new stuff. Their lead singer sounds great and is an amazing guitar player. He showed off some on some great solos including a cover of Pink Floyd. They played for over an hour and a half. Great show.
