Soulfly brought the extreme thunder last night. We got a good mix of old and new, Soulfly and Sepultura. The only disappointment was the 10:50pm end time... No encore, guys? But all things told, we can forgive. Let the sycophants fall!

What a great show! The opening bands were better than anticipated. Even the band full of adorable teenagers playing old-school 80's style metal. :) FOA was super fun, all punked out, and Black Oil was pretty awesome. Great stage presence. The whole Soulfly set was fraught with venue security drama. It was ridiculous. The first song, the crowd was just warming up, pogoing, etc. When the second song started, a couple of kids started to open up a pit, and security guards pounced on them. The guards clearly didn't understand that moshing is NOT fighting. One of them actually said to my boyfriend, "no mosh pits in MY club." But, as you can imagine, even 8 burly men can't stop a whole club floor from moshing if that's what they're there to do. So they gave up after a few songs. Especially after Max was clearly getting irritated and encouraged the crowd to go crazy. The security guards formed a line at the back of the pit and after a while, most of them got into it and were smiling and laughing as they pushed crazy whirling kids back into the mess. It was awesome to watch their transformation from angry haters to willing participants. I leaned forward at one point and asked one of them, "Is this your first pit?" He said yes and I told him that he was doing what I usually do. I told him to just keep his arms up and shove people back in when they came flying at him. It was pretty funny. These giant men taking pointers from a girl. It could have been an awful show, if security had keps throwing people out for trying to mosh. What is usually an atmosphere of cooperation in the pit was being poisioned by the guards who were trying to make it a fight. But it turned out great! Once they started to realize that everyone in that mess of people was having FUN, they relaxed. Max was a terrific frontman as usual, and the band was awesome. I loved the brazilian drums and singing the "oway oway" soccer song in the middle of all that metal. All in all, a great show!

Soulfly was just like in your face all night. The songs they chose was awesome. The pit was big and brutal. So far it has been like the best metal show ive seen all year. Opening bands were pretty good, Incite was the best opener in my eyes. If you like Lamb of God and Devildriver then you'd definitely like them so try to check them out if you can.

First off, the sound system at Showcase Live is amazing. Soulfly brought their A-game in front of probably their smallest crowd ever. That didn't stop them from just being themselves and sounding incredible. Straightline Stitch wasn't bad but the vocals were not there. Incite was by far the best opening act.... Powerful riffs and vocals!

I was very excited for this show, as Soulfly is my favorite band of all time and Straight Line Stitch & Incite have released great debut albums. Despite a small crowd, Richie Cavalera got the audience going with Incite's 40 minute set. They kicked off with The Slaughter (albums title track) and set the stage for what was to come for the rest of the set. Richie has incredible stage presence and this is a bad that is here to stay. Straight Line Stitch came on before Soulfly and I was curious to see how a female vocalist would do. The sound was not great at the beginning, but after the sound board got control of the lead singer's voice and the singer got comfortable on stage, the sound was great. This band has a lot of potential too and I'm excited for their new album, which drops in March. Soulfly didn't take the stage until 10:45 pm, but once they got on, it was all out mayhem. I was pressed up against the stage for the whole set and I was jumping around for all of the favorites: Refuse/Resist, Eye for an Eye, Last of the Mohicans, etc. If you have seen a Soulfly show, then you know how amazing it is to hear Max's vocals and to see Marc Rizzo on the guitar. Marc is one of the greatest rock guitarists around today. When the band went off the stage at 11:45 pm, everyone knew that an encore was to come. For the encore, we were treated to Roots, Eye for An Eye and a medley of a few other Soulfly, Nailbomb and Sepultura songs. It was an AMAZING show! If you haven't seen Soulfly before, then let me recommend that you do so ASAP.

To start, Incite and Rotting Corpse totally tore things up. They almost wore me out before Prong came on! Prong rock the house down, I had to leave the moshpit because it was getting so violent! Soulfly came out with Blood, Fire, War, Hate and all hell broke loose. I thought the very walls of Peabodies Downunder in Cleveland,Ohio were going to fall down! All in all the best show I've been too.

Soulfly was up for maybe 70 minutes, and they were masterful. We got 3 Sepultura classics, Refuse, Troops and Roots. They teased us with a few seconds of Raining Blood and Creeping Death. And they shot through a bunch of the heavier Soulfly tunes without much downtime between songs. It was like they were trying to cram in as much as possible for our maximum viewing pleasure. Max is surprisingly immobile while singing, but he s still the man. His main move is to incite the crowd to bounce, and whenever they did, the whole damn second level would shake like a 6.5 quake. All in all, a great show.

This was one of the best if not the best show I have ever been to. The club was a nice size and everything was cool. All six bands rocked my world. I have seen Metallica, Danzig, Pantera, Slayer and several other bands at much larger venues and this was at least in the top 2 for shows I have seen. It was an experience and I plan to return to Alrosa Villa again in the future if there is a show that intrests me.

I have not seen a show multiple great bands in a few years. These two acts are old-school but remain so fresh, their unique sounds stand the test of time so well. The punching yet grooving bass Prong throws down is such a great pre-cursor to the relentless pounding and percussion of Soulfly. It just makes for a full-on night of hardcore fist-pumping.

The show was great and I was really stoked that Cavalera played some Sepultura as well as some early Soulfly. Prong was impressive I have never really been a fan but their sound was great and I'd definetly see them again The only thing that sucks about the Regency Ballroom is the NO IN AND OUT policy which means your stuck on the side of he building in a smoking section and you can't leave. This Soulfly line-up is the best to date and Enslaved is their best album in years! Max sounds better than he has in awhile and Marc Rizzo always shreds my face off. New additions Tony Campos and David Kinkade bring a whole new intensity to the music and show. David, who is the new drummer, is a beast behind the kit and plays at mind numbing speeds. I would highly suggest seeing this current Soulfly line-up!!!!!!!!!

Although I missed the opening band, Nile, when I arrived at the Grammercy Theater for Soulfly, the venue was hyped and ready for the legendary Soulfly to take the stage. Max continues to be one of the most passionate frontmen in the game and killed it for the NYC crowd, tearing through songs from their entire catalog. Grammercy was the perfect size venue for a show like this!

Therefore, I told friends I would pay for hotel, gas, an extra ticket and more so I could get someone to go with me out of state to see this show!!! I did just that and more, even drove to another city to pick up a friend so he could go and it was worth every minute/dime!!! Didn't really care about the bands before Soulfly, because I never really heard any of their material, plus they all sounded about the same anyway. Note: the singer for Lody Kong, Max Cavalera's son, shouldn't be singing that thrash/scream metal stuff...he so does not have the voice for it. Soulfly, though, was awesome! Only things they had going against them were two things...one, Max wasn't feeling too good, but he still did a good act, minus not really playing his guitar much. Rizzo picked up the slack for it, though. The second thing was that the new band members, Campos and Max's son (the same guy that drums for Lody Kong) are relatively new members, so they weren't just flawless, but will get better with time, which is to be expected. About an hour and a half or so of material from Soulfly, 3-4 Sepultura songs, and even a Nailbomb song thrown into the mix!

It was a cool spring night in New York when Soulfly took the stage and from the opening song World Scum it was clear it was going to be a heavy night with Max and Co. They ran through many cuts from the new record Enslaved as well as old favorites Refuse/Resist, Arise/Dead Embryonic Cells and Roots Bloody Roots. Although they didn't play anything from their previous two albums older songs like Prophecy and Seek and Strike more than made up for it. Having seen Soulfly many times over the last few years, the band sounded much more inspired tonight, maybe the change in lineup has been a blessing. They closed out the night with the traditional favorite Eye For An Eye ending one of the best nights in metal I've seen in a long time!

I enjoyed the performances of Soulfly and Incite at Piere's during this event. Their venue was not overly crowded and the bands were easily visible and heard throughout the club. The merchandise table was easily accessible. I also liked that some members of the bands ran the table. This allowed us to get items signed when we purchased them. The only complaint I could have is that the ticket and information online made it appear as if this venue had stadium seating, when it was standing room or limited seating at the bar or at tables on an upper level.
