The Nutcracker had been a tradition with my daughter during her growing up years. Now I had the opportunity to share it with her and my granddaughter. It was a beautiful performance. The performers, costumes, sets, and orchestra were New Yourk worthy. I'm so proud of the arts in our community. What a gift to us all.

My daughter and I try to go every year. Since she was about 6. She's going to turn 12. We have missed one or two years just because we couldn't make it. We look forward to this tradition. Definitely a must-see. We have a blast!

A wonderful experience. We would go again. The scenery and changes were clever, the dancers talented. During break smitten little girls in their holiday finery were in front of the stage pretending to be dancers - maybe some day some of them will be!

It is wonderful performance. My family had awsome time. One thing I think you can improve. It is the sound around, the music may have more lively. I know it comes from record, it seem to be better on sound system. Thank's

It was a wonderful depiction of a timeless classic. My granddaughter is 11 and she sat absolutely entranced through the whole performance. She only leaned over once to say "That's my favorite song" when the candy cane dancers came on. I enjoyed the Christmas angels "gliding" across the stage. The principals were so beautiful. It was just a wonderful afternoon and a memory not tobe missed.

Many thanks to a great service staff that helped accomodate our 'late' arrival. This was the first viewing of The Nutcracker for my grandchildren.....and unfortunately, I thought the performance started at 2 pm. Luckily, we arrived 'early' and were escorted to temporary seats until intermission. The performance was wonderful and the girls were mesmerized. Santa's arrival at intermission was also a hit. Thanks to all for making this such a special memory for them. We're already looking forward to next year and promise to be on time.

This was my first Ballet. I took my wife and surprisingly enough I enjoyed it quite a bit! For anyone who has not been to the Nutcracker, you have to power through the first act which gets a little long and monotonous now and again, but the second act is well worth the wait. some amazing dancing. If you've never been, give it a chance. I think you will enjoy.

We had Orchestra level seats, and really, the Keller Auditorium does not have a bad seat in the house. We felt like we were part of the Ballet, it really was a great artistry masterpiece. I would recommend this show to everyone, its even fun as my wife and I found out to people watch, a specatcular event to just relax, and enjoy the night and be captivated into the nutcracker story.

It was a delightful production featuring choreography by George Balanchine. There was some fun business injected into the first act, where there is a certain amount of leeway in the staging. Technically the dancing was quite good, and the children who danced in the performance had some challenging steps to do and performed them admirably. The soloists were quite good, especially the chinese trio, who spent most of their solo in the air. The Sugar Plum Fairy was exceptional, and her cavalier was a very strong partner, and together they stole the show - as they ought to.

I try to see ballet and dance programs when I visit a city for a conference. This time I was lucky to see the last performance of the Oregon Ballet Theatre's Emerald Perspective. The dancing was fantastic. The set changes were faster than anything I have seen at another program. I especially enjoyed the diverse dance and ballet pieces. My favorites were the contemporary pieces, which I only wish I could have seen in a smaller venue. I will definitely see this company if I ever return to Portland.

It was amazing! The music and the dancing! The scene where the Cavalier pulls the Sugar Plum Fairy across the stage while she is balancing on one point, just WOW! The only thing I didn't care for was most of the first act, since nothing really happens in it, they're just having a party. I felt it was a little dragged on. But that is not the dancers fault, that is the way it was written.

We attended the first performance this year of George Balanchine's "The Nutcracker" at Keller Auditorium last weekend. It was a beautiful event. The orchestra was amazing; several solos were given emphasis that was delightful and in my experience listening to this music, uncommon. The dancing at all levels, children, corps, and principals was beautifully executed. Altogether an evening of magic, as it should be!!

What a wonderful show. I was in attendance at the Matinee with my 4 yr. old granddaughter, her mother and her other grandmother. What a great tradition! This year I took three friends who had never seen the Nutcracker, much less been to the ballet. As someone who grew up in a dance studio, it was wonderful to share this experience with them. Not only was I able to recount hilarious rehearsal stories from my own Nutcracker experiences, but OBT went above and beyond this year with video footage explaining various aspects of the performance. Even I appreciated the behind the scenes perspective, and how it made it more accessible to someone not raised on the stage. Thanks OBT!!

Ok, I'm nuts about Nutcracker and Oregon Ballet. However, must agree with PDxNative: I greatly miss the live orchestra in the pit and this is the only reason I didn't give the 5th star. Music from speakers just doesn't feel the same. And, "the only disappointment I had was the canned music. The sets were fabulous." Oregon Ballet needs to get realistic for next year. LOWER THE PRICES amongst the various dates overall and bring the Orchestra back!

I was very pleased with the ticketing and seat selection process for this wonderful ballet. The costumes, the dancers and acrobatics delightful. It is obvious at least one dancer spends a lot time in the gym, doing several perfect graceful 'Dive bombs' while being supported by 4 men. After 3 years in the gym, I STILL can not one shaky dive bomb on a hurdle or equalizer. Amazing.

The play was great but entirely too many children from their school. For those prices we want to see professional dancers not the campers or whatever they were. It was cute the first time but the kids are a theme in every skit. Really got old after awhile. Otherwise the dancers were all great my fave was queen of hearts. The set design and costumes were spectacular. Just too many adolescents trying to be cute. If you re the parents of a kid in the show you will undoubtedly like it but for everyone else it s exasperating.

Stylistic and highly imaginative, OBT's ALICE IN WONDERLAND is an exceptional local offering. Modern without being pretentious, it showcases the talents of a fine crew of dancers, from, well, they are ballet dancers so one can not say, "...from small to large". Possibly "...from young to slightly older", would be more accurate. The special effects were quite lovely, enhancing rather than upstaging the dancers. Breathtaking is a word that comes to mind. There were a few too many flamingos than one might think strictly necessary, and the segment featuring them tends to run a bit long, but it is a small nit to pick in an otherwise fabulous production. Go see it. It will make you happy.

This is a review of the first half of the performance since we left at intermission (along with the woman seated near us). I figured anything with Gershwin music was a sure thing, but I was wrong. The pianists were wonderful, but the ballet was a yawner. This was modern dance, not ballet, and it was uninspired. I didn't connect with any of the characters or the story.

Production, collaboration, dramatic, but clean staging created the an outstanding evening. OREGON can be proud of this production.....hope we will share it as it deserves an ENCORE!

Thomas and Pink Martini were great, as always. What was disappointing was the choreography. There was a lot of movement to a pose; then more movement to a pose. Rarely any continuous movement unless the dancers were walking into a new formation, like a college marching band. Usually, there are at least some dance moves in any performance that take my breath away. This time, I could barely keep from falling asleep. If this is the best the "resident choreographer" can do, OBT should think about a change.

The first half of the performance was not very good, the choreography didn t mesh well with the music, the dual pianist are to be commended for their outstanding performance. The second half was much more put together, music and vocals really turned the performance around, dancers looked more relaxed and to be enjoying their craft since the choreography and music blended together. The audience woke up and began tapping their feet. Second half made the entire performance worth going.

Great show! To see and hear Thomas Lauderdale play Rhapsody in Blue in a duet was mesmerizing - as good as the ballet. Pink Martini was phenomenal too. Highly recommend it.
