My Review Overall I Enjoyed the Women Who Worship! Things I felt needed improvement or consideration: 1. I felt each performer was RUSHED! 2. There where to many IN-BETWEEN MINI-EVENTS crammed into the night. 3. The camera crew / grip crew where OFF-POINT - ex: a. I constantly saw the cameramen behind the performers while they where singing b. before, during, and after performances there should have been a black curtain up so we the audience didn't have to see all the Behind-the-scene activity. c. Watching the performer on screen, was constantly interrupted by the other camera arm popping up in front of the performer or the videographer was in the shot.

The gospel Fest was fun! The only thing I didn't like about it was the time in between acts. It took the stage crew soooo long to set up the stage for the next act! I attended this event last year as well and I don't remember the set up taking that long. Other than that it was very inspiring and uplifting! I love Aretha Franklin, Lord knows I do but her performance felt like a long church service! Let her sing two songs and that's it!

This year's gospelfest was GREAT. It was good to have Donnie and Kirk Franklin back. They rocked th house. Also, TD Jake's message was wonderful and very inspirational. I hope that 2012 lineup is just as good. Last year - 2010 was horrible. I left feeling like it would have been my last year. However, when I saw this year's line up, I justr had to purchase my tickets. Great....

The sound was off, all the gospel groups had bad microphones. Also the acoustics were terrible. Td jakes had a great message. For a corporation as big as McDonalds to sponsor this event I expected way more. Not going to Gospelfest 2012 :-/

The event was awesome. All of the performers were great. I only wish that the host would not have been so rude at times when it came to getting some of the singer of the stage. I understand that there was a time limit that everyone gets to do their thing, but at some points he was just telling people to get of the stage, telling them to hurry or just plain taking mikes from them mid song. But overall I enjoyed myself. Love Hezikiah, Donnie, Kurt, and Vicki. Loved T.D. Jakes.

I loved the performers at Gospelfest but the sound system was so poorly balanced. The lead vocals were inaudible for the entire 6 hours I was there. The performances themselves were wondering. It was a shame I could not understand anything they were singing due to the terrible sound board work. I hope they fix this next year.

The sound was not very good and the show seemed like it lacked a rehearsal. Host were announcing performers before they were ready to go on stage. Faith Evans had to ask for a mic stand in the middle of her song and they gave her one that didn't work.

I would not recommend sitting up top. The event would of been great if the speakers had clarity. I was able to hear 1 performer. I had to leave my section (211) and walk down to listen to other performers. The atmosphere of the people was great. I just wish my family and I could hear the performers sing or the announcers talk. When they song, you was only able to hear yelling.

For such a large scale concert I was shocked at how bad the sound system was at the prudential center Saturday. It's like they didn't do a sound check. All of the sound was coming from a few speakers in the front. You could only hear the lead singers, not one sound from the choir members way in the back. The instruments overpowered even the lead singers. And several times the microphones went out so you couldn't hear any singing. This production was very unprofessional. It felt like something a small, storefront church with no budget would put on at a local school. McDonald's really needs to do better. The lineup was great, it just would have been better if you could actually hear everything the way you should at a real concert.

My husband and I have been attending Gospelfest for four years now. We absolutely love the event. We get there before 3PM to see the youngsters perform. After leaving there, we always feel uplifted. This year we like that they dedicated the event to Woman of Achievement and handed out awards, however, we felt as if it took away from performance time. Overall, we love it.

This was my first McDonald's Gospelfest and I was very excited to attend this concert, I traveled from Virginia. Let me say that I enjoyed the majority of artists but wasn't sure how Melba Moore became a part of the lineup. The concert started late and was too long. While it was nice that the first ladies of the various tristate area churches were honored, I don't feel it should have been a part of this event. It made it a very long event and I didn't purchase a ticket to see them honored. I left the event when Hezekiah Walker (didn't pay to see him either) took the stage because I had already been there for over 6 hours. The venue was very cold, especially where I was sitting. I'm not sure if I would attend another McDonald's Gospelfest.

Didn't know that I would not hear the headliners until almost 7:00 :(....next time I will have dinner and arrive about 6:30. Although some of the performances were ok, I would never recommend anyone sitting 10 hours for any show. It was an exhausting evening, and I missed many of my favorite artists because by 9:00 p.m. I needed to go. I love the artistry of all the artists that were scheduled to perform, but was much to tired to stay for their performances...booooo If I go again, I will sleep all day so that I can sit through this very looooooong show! Thank God for Vicky Winan and Tosha Cobbs, they were worth the cost of the ticket.

I have been to the last three Gospelfest presentations! This far exceeded my expectations. The room was bursting with excitement and the love of God. Not since I was a young girl have so many mega stars performed on one stage at the same time. Each one in their own right touched the hearts of all of us in attendance. Even Kelly's testimony added to the moment... It just proves that God wants all of us from every walk of life to acknowledge Him. Fantastic!!!

I have been attending the Gospelfest for many year now. This is the first time felt compelled to give a review. I did not like how they did the first lady awards. I believe the awards should have been handed out during the competition session of the show, or at least handed out all the awards at one time instead of the constantly stopping the show. The breaks made it difficult for the audience to maintain interest. That time could have been given to one or two of the performers, especially since it appeared as if some of them were rushed. Also, I wish you stop inviting Shirley Caesar and then rush her off the stage. Everybody knows that her shows are lengthy and to rush a queen like Pastor Shirley is terrible. Either stop inviting her or give her more time. I understand time is important, but have you ever heard of putting on a good show by giving the crowd what the want. I do not believe extending the show past its time will be bad. Also, maybe handing out program line up for the show would be great. The worst part of the show was Melba Moore and Kim Burrell; I think Kim was worst at least Melba knew all the words to the songs she sung. Kim loves to take credit for being a part of Whitney's life, yet she has yet to learn one of her songs. Having said that, overall the show the show was Great!

First off the performances were great! Every artist that took the stage had my attention, I got there after the competition, as I could not spend 8 hours there, and thankfully I went with my gut and went for 6pm! Here is the problem I found: The seats- too tiny, a lot of elderly people were in attendance as well as young people and a lot of them were also complaining about the seats too small, no room for your legs, you literally had no room to move, so if someone came to sit down in your row and pass by you- you had no choice but to stand up and pull yourself against your seat. The staff working during this event were not very friendly nor helpful with assisting with finding seats once things got started....I thankfully was able to find my own seat, but other who came later like myself, were complaining about being pointed in a direction and then the usher walked off. Their sound system wasn't the best- at times I could barely hear what was being said- I don't know if it was the person holding the mike, or the system itself. Music was at times louder than the artist who was singing.... I do not intend on visiting that venue again!

This show just didnt flow. We had to stand outside for an hour before we were allowed to take out seats!! And the sound was horrible!! People should be more informed about the contest, if I had known this contest would take place and take so long I would have went to dinner first! It dragged, it didnt flow and I was too tired to stay to then end. I could not make out what any of the contestant rapped, sang or hear the comedy. Sound was just muffled, until T.D. Jakes came out and the crowd having had enough began jeering, We can't hear you!! Then it got better, for a little bit anyhow. And the Word was awesome! Aretha Franklin in her vain glory ruined it for me, by then I just wanted to go home!! Finally Pastor Donnie came out and we praised the Lord!! Soon after we were on our way home almost 12 midnight & the show was not over yet!

This was the worst event I have ever been to. First of all I wasn't aware that their was a amateur competition. My tickets or the announcement has never said that. There were way too many non talented people performing just group after group with 30 people or more in each group and each person got to sing their own song. This happened over and over. It was just crazy. I took my senior mom and senior aunt we arrived at 4:30pm and at 8:00 they were still talking about nothing and letting people perform. They killed me when the host A Farrow set up a table in the middle of the stage and let someone interview him about his life. Dude nobody came here for that. I really believe he ran out of entertainment because we asked when the stars would be performing and an usher told us that nobody was there yet everyone was late. We left a little after 8:00 and got to see no stars at all perform. What 8 hour plus event would someone take their senior mother to like this. On top of that it was raining outside and freezing cold inside. So basically they tried to kill us. This was a hot ass mess!

This was my first time attending and I didn't realize the amateur competition portion would be 3 and a half hours long. That was waaaaay too long and I don't even know if anybody won. Also they need to add TV monitors for the people with seats at the back of the room. Its very hard to see and connect with the acts on stage from the back if you can't see the performance well. I didn't enjoy the show as much as I would have liked. After being there almost 5 hours, I left before the show ended. Oh, one more thing...selling alcohol at a gospel show?? In poor taste, I think...

The show was awesome, the choirs, MC, Faith Evans, and gospel singers. My biggest issue is the sound system! The clarity was horrible! The soloist and speakers were muffled and couldn't understand most of what the MC was saying or anybody else for that matter. They really need to get better microphones, speakers, whatever when they charge so much for the tickets. I was really disappointed because I couldn't understand them when they sung or talked. The other issue, is that they had no room on the stage for the bigger choirs so they were standing in the back of the stage and those choirs were barely heard as well. I don't think I will pay that kind of money to go see that show again. The Prudential Center needs to really do better than that!

Love going every year. But, there are too many talent groups as well as too many stars performing and not enough time. I go to church every Sunday morning at 7:00am and have to leave the show very early to get back to New York, so I miss a lot. I You should consider having the show on Friday night instead. Or, you should bring a pre-show back to New York at the Westbury Music Fair on the Friday night before going to New Jersey.

This was a Mothers Day gift to y mom, and I have to say that I was very disappointed in the choirs.. There was a whole lot of screaming instead of singing. The microphone were loud so you can barely understand some of the words. I liked the competition a lot more than the actual concert. Also, they ended up cutting the mic off on a certain choir because they were not aware of the time limit on stage. So that was embarrassing. Last year when iit was the Lady of Praise - where they were soloist, IT WAS AMAZING!!! You really felt the spirit., but this show was not that great. Okay, but not great

I purchased 4 tickets - with a plan to take my parents for an enjoyable musical experience to celebrate Mother's Day. Unfortunately, the specifics of show length, address of preferred park'g garage and, most importantly, headline artists stage taking time were not advertised. Although I searched for info about show length, before securing the tkts, I was unable to locate it. I presumed it would be about 3/4 hours. This was not an issue we couldn't overcome of course and minor in comparison to issues locating the park'g garage and learning the headline acts take the stage at 6pm. Since the website listed event start time was 3 and recommended arrival time was 2, we aimed to be on-time. - My parents traveled from Bklyn (departure approx 10:30AM) - Met us in Jersey for an absolutely enjoyable brunch. - We ate, departed and arrived in Newark about 1:45. - There was no listing of the exact address or cross streets/intersection of the venue's garage. We drove around, in annoying tight traffic trying to locate it, not having visited the venue before, for 25 minutes. The printed garage reservation had all info except that - We finally got upstairs to our seats to learn the main event, began at 6PM. Now although this was actually printed on my tickets (you know what they say about fine-print), I had no incling it was there and there was no reference to the headliners start time on the advertising/details of the event (KEY NOTE - the stuff you look at when making decisions to buy tickets). I printed the tickets and never scrutinized them - lesson learned for me!! - Both parents being in their early 70s and having started their day early understandably we less than interested in passively passing 3 hours somewhere until the main event began. Even I was disinterested in that so we hung around for about 45 mins discussing options and decided to leave. - Had I known about the 6PM headliner start time, we would have had late lunch (not brunch) then enjoyed all the wonderful performers. We weighed the desire to see the artists but just couldn't face 'passing' 3 hours. The best thing about the attempt to partake of this event was absolutely every venue member I encountered (garage assistants, security, food court attendants and seating assistants) was helpful, friendly, polite, very appropriate and more. I cannot compliment them enough! They were the only upside to a very very disappointing frustrating. I can't say I'll visit the venue again, but if I see something advertised there, I'll scrutinize the tickets for 'caveats'. At this hour, I'm not even certain if the 6pm reference was listed until after I paid and was queued to print the tiks.

This is definitely the worst concert I have ever attended in my life. The sound acoustics were horrible and so was the Gospelfest Staff who consistently lied to patrons who went to them to complain about how the sound quality sucked if you were any higher than the first tier. I have been attending Gospelfest for the past 15 years and I've never seen such craziness. This has definitely taught me that this festival has ran its course...... NEVER AGAIN. The entire show was great, But the audio was absolutely lousy. I paid 68.75 for my tickets and I was really angry that I could get the full effect of the performers.

The sound system ruined this show. It was extremely loud and distorted. It was almost impossible to hear what people were singing. I would not recommend this event. I have heard the sound has been terrible in the past. This was a shame because it could have been an enjoyable time. I came at 3 pm and left at 8 pm. I could not take the loud noise anymore. I left with a headache. Also, some of the talent after the 7pm show started weren't so talented. I am not sure who is responsible for the sound but the Prudential Center is a professional space and one would think the quality of sound engineering would be excellent. It was really embarrassing.

I have been attending the Gospel Fest for over ten years, the first two years "you were able to bring in a bottle of water or juice" since the times you are being told you're not able to have anything brought in, first of all everyone doesn't drink fountain drinks, prices at $5.00 and $5.50 are just crazy, there were many first timers that had many complaints, saying they could not understand the performers amongst other things. Overall I always have a great time, looking forward to the next TEN YEARS PLUS. Thank you Gospel Fest. Just allow the people to bring in a sandwich or so.

The show was good, as much as I could see. never get tickets in the mezzanine area, it's the worse place to sit. always check on your seats in advance

This show was not as good as years past. However it was decent. There were too many "older acts". Don't get me wrong, that's ok, but what was needed was a few gospel artists that are relevant for today. Where were the Tasha Cobbs, Deitrick Haddon's, Tamela Mann's or those artist which have current music on the radio station. And, while I love Faith Evans, having her do an R&B set in the middle of a gospel show was kind of out of place. This wasn't the forum for her. I am a huge supporter of the Gospelfest, but hopefully next year will be better.

Although the show was long with the competition of groups it was very enjoyable. There was gaps of time between the host announcing the next performer and them actually getting to the stage it made you lose interest until the performer started. I got these tickets as a mothers day gift for my mom and she enjoyed it we agreed on the time management that needs some work and the sounds of the instrument over powering the singers/choirs but overall a great show.

This show seems to be off key.. not organized enough. It was rushed and it look like it was thrown together at the last minute.

I bought tickets for this show in march and was very disappointed. There was not enough praise and worship...there were too many awards given out and sponsors recognized between performances breaking the spirit. I wont waist my money again . honestly I spent $155 at a time money is hard to come by to sit through a large infomercial. ..thanks for nothing and to God be all the glory...

This was a service unto God. I sang, I laughed, I cried and I danced. My section was anointed. To God be the glory! The music ministered to my soul. The only thing that I would try to change is the award ceremony. It interrupted the Holy Spirit a couple of times. We would be high in the Spirit and then have a commercial break. It was like church announcements. More singing, less artists and the awards can be before the concert.

The event was awesome. Loved the singing but the honoring of the first ladies and the speakers were too long. The show lasted 6 hours and the competition was 3 hours, too long. The seats in the Prudential center were extremely uncomfortable and you could not leave the building after you go inside.

Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, upon this rock I will build my church. On Saturday, The Rock was Church. A little slice of heaven in Newark, the Holy Spirit was definitely in the building. One anointed woman after another blessed the audiance all night long. I was up praising, shouting and dancing all night. This was more than a concert, it was a blessing to all that were there. The honoring of the First Ladies was inspirational and moving. Thank you McDonald for continuing to sponsor this wonderful event, and to all the organizers for the hard work that they put in to make this a success. The competition was great too.

So many powerhouse Women Of God who really "Sang" and lifted up Jesus!!! It was a nice touch honoring the local church "First Ladies" with awards. The Prudential Center Staff was great helping me choose the best seats so my Mom (92 yrs young) and my special guest had a good view even when the people in front of us stood up.

This was by far one of the most fabulous evenings I've ever spent. Not only was the theme "Women Who Worship" one that spoke to my heart... but the collective positive energy that was created that evening will continue to touch people's lives for a very long time. Why do I say that? Because my my rebellious teenage son (who only listens to alternative music) turned to me and said "Wow! This really IS amazing music, mom... these women are fantastic!" Thank you, Irving Street and McDonald's for giving us this wonderful experience. I look forward to next year! _/\\_

It was outstanding from the competition to the main event. Hope the blind kid, Keith won. Wasn't fond of Melba Moore and Cissy Huston, too much screaming for me. Would like to heard more from Kim Burrell and Tasha Cobb, since the others sang 3 or more songs. Will come in 2015.

This was the 2nd year that I attended. Both times I had to leave early because the time at these shows are not properly managed. Last year I left before seeing Donnie McKlurken because it was nearing midnight and I have an hour drive home. This year, my mother-in-law came with me and at almost 80yrs old, she couldn't stay in those seats for too long (no leg room). Both years I skipped the talent portion and arrived in time to see the stars. This method doesn't work either because we still have to endure unnecessary talking in between each act and the awarding ceremony of First Ladies. This should have been completed before the stars performed. That wasn't fair. This year I didn't get to see my favorite Erica Campbell!!!! No one wants at attend an 8hr concert.

It gets better every year. It's so wonderful to be able to go hear live gospel music being performed. Such a great variety of artist and songs. Most importantly it's a Mother's Day outing my siblings and I do for my mom each year. It's a time we can share some great moments with her. It's especially sentimental coming from a musical(gospel) family going on 5th generation.

...They could have done without all the extras....I don't want to see politicos at a gospel concert. All the first lady awards could have been done in the beginning before the actual show. But I believe Mickey D's or the director knew exactly what they were doing...they left all the good acts for last. Which is not fair to older patrons who are not able to stay as long. You might want to consider having fewer acts and less time for the acts because there were a few that could have been a little longer.

I was so excited to go to GOSPELFEST and my Mother even flew in for the event. We were most disappointed. We waited a total of 22min just to go up on the elevator and once we arrived at our seats they were so inclined (section 230) that both of us had vertigo terribly. In addition, the upper TV's were not on (just one big screen) and we could not hear anything. The sound was terrible and muffled. Needless to say, we left after an hour. We paid for event tickets, an airline ticket, tolls, fuel and parking for an hour of a very disappointing show. I wish at the very least they would refund our ticket money.
