2nd to last theatrical release for the great story teller. If you can't afford to get to Red State on the Red State Tour make sure you check it out theatrically in October.

Kevin Smith once again delivered as promised. His new film Red State is a horror film in the genre sense that it will scare you to realize people as evil as the Cooper's actually exist in today's society. The Q&A that followed was as hilarious as the film was scary. Red State comes to theaters in October. Don't miss it!

I just did not think it was the great. Not the movies fault but it was hard to hear. The dialogue in the church scene just went on and on. I at not time felt scared or freaked out. I was more horrified by the "Stink palm" in Mall Rats.

The movie was not only amazing, it was brilliant. Kevin Smith has outdone himself with Red State. He says it's simply a horror movie but it's sooooo much more than that... it's funny yet extremely creepy and a very important statement on our country as it stands today. Smith was also as entertaining as it gets during the Q & A, proving why he is one of the best public speakers alive and was not only considerate of everyone who asked questions, but also those who didn't. The man appreciates his audience like no other public figure does and they love him for it.

Kevin Smith was on his game during the intro and post Q&A - funny, insighful, generous - but more importantly, his new film "Red State" is incredible. John Goodman gives one of my all time favorite Goodman performance and Michael Parks held me captive as Abin Cooper. Dave Klein's cinematography was chilling and Smith's editing was spot on. The Red State Tour was worth ten times the price of admission and I would gladly open my wallet again to support the creative collaboration that went into this entire experience: a step forward in the future of film production and distribution.

Kevin's new movie is not a comedy, but done in true Kevin Smith form. This intense psychological drama may offend some, but it definitely makes you think. I really enjoyed it, as I have almost all of his prior movies. A MUST SEE...

'Red State' is an entertaining flick. It's about 1.5 hrs long. If you like horror, this is a must see. Kevin Smith did about 1.5 hrs of Q&A after the movie. He is a humorous, candid, and self-deprecating individual. Due to the cost of the tickets, the majority of the audience were die-hard fans and likely devoted Smodcast listeners. Overall the Harris Theater is nice. It's located right near Millennium Park. The staff was very friendly. The seats could be comfier. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Parking is easy and $16 with validation. Take a look at their site for more details: http://www.harristheaterchicago.org/ .

Kevin Smith brought his latest film with him to Chicago for an early screening and followed it with a Q&A afterwards. I'm a long time Smith fan and I have to say this is my favorite film he has done. It's so unlike his other work that if you saw the film without credits you wouldn't know it was his. I don't want to comment too much on the film itself since it doesn't get a wide release until October and spoiling it would make your experience less exciting. When Kevin says this is a horror movie, he's right but it's not a horror movie by today's standards. It's part horror part thriller. The people in the film believe everything they say and do is 100% right and that is were the horror lies. Knowing these people could actually exist in this world is pretty damn scary. Kevin's Q&A afterwards was a nice counter balance to the film. The film goes to dark places fast and doesn't let up, so when Kevin came out and answered our questions while throwing in jokes it really helped lighten the mood for everyone. Kevin is just a nice guy that he had no problem answering even the zaniest questions. If you get a chance to see him live with or without this movie, do it. I personally can't wait for October so I can see this again. Kevin is releasing it himself without help from major studios. It's a big undertaking but this movie stands on it's own and is worth the price of admission

The film was, to use Kevin's word, unsettling. So excited for the rest of the world to see it. The Q&A was a lovely way to wind down and reflect upon the movie before driving home. Also, having listened to all of the SModcast Network podcasts, I've heard many stories retold on different shows before. However, even when I'd heard the story before, Kevin was great about telling it differently and telling unique details of the story. He is truly grateful for his fans and it shows.

The movie was...unbelievably good. Funny and smart, paired with brutally real violence. Unforgettable and highly recognizable cast. Q&A afterwards was a great chance to be further in the moment of a very creative and unique film experience. I'll tell my grandiose about this one day!

Being a Kevin Smith fan, I went into this movie with high hopes but had pretty much settled on the fact that no matter what, I'd probably love it even if it was 90 minutes of Kevin staring at the camera saying absolutely nothing. I can assure you, however, this was not your typical Kevin Smith movie. No Jay or Silent Bob, not even a Zack or Miri. This was a hard core, edge of your seat, action thriller that scared the bejesus out of me thinking perhaps there really are people out there like the characters Kevin created with the Five Points Church group. The level of suspense is taken to a higher level with the lack of using a soundtrack. As Kevin said in his Q&A after the movie, he didn't want music to make you decide how you felt about a character or scene. I found myself struggling between terror, pity and disgust for the church members. I held my breath as certain chase scenes played out. The stand-off scene is equal to the gun play that occurs in Michael Mann's Heat with Pacino and Deniro; it just never ends it seems. This would be my kind of movie regardless of director, but the fact that Kevin Smith directed it, proves his range and abilities, but it still comes down to his great art of telling a story. And this time, a pretty damn scary one!

The Red State USA Tour experience was absolutely fantastic. The movie was very well-done. Not your typical Kevin Smith movie, and the Q&A afterwards was Smith's typical, frank discussion, filled with long-winded tales and circular stoner-answers. I found it pretty entertaining and, given my own interest in filmmaking, pretty inspiring.

Yes tickets are expensive for this event. But are actually not that bad considering not only are you going to hear Kevin Smith Q&A (check out the Evening With Kevin Smith series) but also an early preview of his much hyped new horror movie Red State months before it's official release in Oct. that you would easily pay almost $20 a ticket to see alone in this theater. Smith is hilarious and this is sure to be a one of a kind offer

While Kevin was funny and told interesting stories, honestly the people that got to ask questions kind of ruined it for me. The first two people asked him to marry (and re-marry) them, then the next two people just wanted to gush for 30 minutes about how much they loved him and tell their life story. I'm a lifelong fan and to no fault of his own, the show was a bit of a disappointment.

While I am not a huge fan of Kevin Smith's movies I am a fan of the man himself. I've heard his talks and Q&A's via YouTube and Netflix and listened to some of his podcasts and I knew seeing him live would be quite the experience. I didn't realize just how much of an experience it would be. The outpouring of love for Smith from his hardcore fans is something amazing to see. His response and openness to that love is equally impressive. This is a person who understands fan service is integral to maintaining a relationship that is beneficial to both sides of the equation. Smith also can easily fill four hours (as he nearly did on this evening) with incredible stories about his life, his career, his friends and family. While many may view him as crude and wonder why anyone would pay to listen to him talk for hours about his life, Smith turns his lower-middle class upbringing and struggles to become a filmmaker into inspirational life lessons applicable to just about anyone fighting to become more than they are. It was an evening of laughter, Hollywood anecdotes and inspiration to follow in his footsteps. I'll never forget it.

I've been watching and reading Kevin Smiths work for years now. Not only did he live up to the hype I had built him up to be, he smashed it. What a funny, smart, loving and generous guy. He was on stage for over 3 1/2 hours and never seemed tired, upset or had lack of desire. He loved sharing his art and did such with great energy. This day had been pretty miserable after learning how Prince had passed away but Kevin Smith talked about his friend and with his great motivational speaking had me realizing the best is yet to come and never settle for your dreams.

YOGA HOSERS was great! Finally felt like a much closer return to "Kevin Smith" form (after Red State and Tusk). It's still for sure weird as hell, but it's so funny and has plenty of Easter eggs from his movies and podcasts. It's definitely made for his audience and the kids of his audience. It's PG-13 but it doesn't really feel like it. It's clearly made for Smith fans and the 14-20 range. And he's said as much. In fact a 16 year old girl in the audience thanked him during the Q&A because she felt like it was made for her. It feels like one of those late night movies that would come on at 1am on like USA or Sci-Fi like 20 years ago. Really off-the-wall, weird, and funny. It doesn't make sense. Just roll with it, and watch Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp crush it as Canadians with over-the-top accents. And if you're a listener of Hollywood Babble-On (liked I am religiously), the ENTIRE third act is lifted from that show. Seriously.

I travelled halfway around the world from the UK to San Diego to see Hollywood Babble-on, and i will do it again next year, it was THAT good. My first time seeing HBO live, I was in town for Comic Con, and snapped up some tickets for HBO, I've been a fan since the podcast started, and this opportunity was too good to miss. Had a meal at the House of Blues before the show, which granted us a pass which allowed us to skip the queue for the show and get straight in. I knew what to expect going into the event, but it exceeded all expectations, Kevin and Ralph were brilliant, the atmosphere was incredible, and I can't wait to do it again next year, Best night of the year so far

Kevin Smith does not disappoint. He claims to be a talker and backs it up every minute he's on stage. He was able to get to multiple questions and was engaging with the audience. You can tell that he really appreciates his fanbase, from autographs after the show to calling a fan's ex-girlfriend to put in a good word. I've watched all the DVDs, missed out on a few live shows, and was finally able to see him live and in-person. I look forward to the next opportunity to see him again. Although McCaw Hall's sound system left a lot to be desired... the movie was very enjoyable. A huge departure from what you might think a Kevin Smith film is supposed to be... and that's what made it great. Not a comedy... and I didn't think it was a horror film like everyone is saying. The movie is suspenseful and evokes a lot of emotion. The Q&A with Kevin was great. Not everyone g their questions answered... but that doesn't mean he didn't answer almost all of the questions that may have been waiting in line. Kevin like to taaaaalk! Great show.

First of all you will totally enjoy any show with Kevin Smith. Kevin has a way of sharing comedic stories about his real life in a way that feels like you are talking with a best friend. The kicker here is.. he truly is and wants to be cool with his ever growing fan base. He s true to himself and true to you! This show was great overall! About the first half of the performance was new material. Mostly dealing with his adventures the day of the event in and around the city proper. Very entertaining and full of detailed color about events and interactions! The second half of the show was pulled almost literally from his Revent showtime special. Since I had already seen the showtime special I was kinda left disappointed and wanting more original content. But, still very entertaining. The venue was your typical small format theatre setting. Seats were awesome and atmosphere was great. I would recommend catching his show if he comes to town or a town near you!

I had an absolute blast at Kevin's Q & A. I went with some friends who are also fans and they had a great time too. If your a fan of Kevin Smith, do not miss your chance to go see him.

Emotional...Engaging...Absolutely Hilarious... The Honorable Reverend Kevin Smith enthusiastically blew the roof off with his stories and lovingly paid tribute to his late father on the stage that his dad had worshiped all of his life with a quite haunting a cappella rendition of the first verse of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" with a little help from the more than willing crowd. RIP Mr. Donald E. Smith. Along with an inspirational story about pursuing your dreams and realizing new ones that you didn't even know that you wanted stemming from the meeting on a plane with the late Ralphie May. RIP Mr. May and thank you for convincing ol' Silent Bob to visit this historic venue. The show wrapped up with a rousing and again inspirational round of Q&A and concluded after an unscheduled extra hour of awesomeness with the Rev marrying (again) a couple from the audience for their 1yr anniversary in the way that only Kevin Smith could. Excellent show and an amazing time.

I really enjoyed the show, Kevin is always a tons of laughs! The only thing I was disappointed in was this was the third time I have seen him and several of the stories I have heard over and over. I know his goal is to make the show be spontaneous and natural, but that comes at a cost to those of us who have seen him before. Regardless, I was laughing most of the show!

Needless to say, if you're not a fan of his, or of geek culture in itself, probably not your thing. However, I am, and I could have listened to him for another 2 hours. I've seen some of his specials on tv before, and could not resist the live show. Note, this is not a stand up performance-this is truly a one of a kind story telling show from the guy who brought you Jay and Silent Bob, and his adventures in the world of movies and comic books.

2nd time seeing Kevin Smith. Last one he ran over by 90 minutes and it was a great show. this was still a good show but I could have done without the audience Q&A part. People were asking him to record their voice mail and 2 couples asked to be married, took time from his story telling. Also, First time to the Center Stage venue and it was a good place to see a show. Cozy but not uncomfortable.

I attend a Kevin smith show every chance I get. He's motivational and awesome. The only thing I wish he would work on is telling different stories. I've seen all his stand up videos and some of the material we've heard over and over. But I will still come back and attend again. If only people would ask better questions.

If you've ever seen episodes of "Fat Man on Batman" on YouTube, you know exactly what you're getting, sans the set. Kevin and Marc discuss current events in the comic-book world and give their analysis in terms of how well things are done as well as their cultural impact and commentary. This is a no-frills performance that lasts a couple hours and will probably include a Q&A session with the audience.

I didn't go to the podcast after the Q&A but I enjoyed myself. He didn't answer as many questions as I think he could have. He kind of went on a long rant to the first question that lasted 40 minutes or so. No complaints though. I am a huge Kevin Smith fan and just being in the same room with him was an honor.

This was an incredibly fun show, full of the usual mix of intelligent/existential thoughts and humor involving body fluids. Andy and Kevin make a great team, and this was them at the top of their game.

I'll see every Kevin Smith show that I possibly can! I love hearing him talk, he's like half comedian, half motivational speaker, 100% amazing storyteller :) His stories always make me laugh and he's constantly encouraging his audience to get their own art (in whatever form it may be!) out into the world.

Fun and funny. He asks for audience questions and took 6 in the 2 hour and 45 minute show. Stories about his novies, actors, life ... it felt like you were sitting in a diner chatting. So much fun!!!

Started out funny. Went on too long and started to feel like he was too self absorbed in his own life. Was not impressed by the celebrity name dropping. The biggest turnoff was that he answered maybe 3-4 audience questions total.

Kevin Smith's Q&A at the State Theater was a great time! Although a minimum of 30 people lined up at the 3 microphones set up for Kevin Smith fans to ask him questions; Smith was honest with the audience that he most likely wouldn't get to everyone because he likes to talk. The fans' questions he did answer led to some of the funniest and at times, very touching stories that I've heard about the film industry from one of its own. Smith has a very down to earth personality and he's very funny. The stage had a couch and table, but Smith stood for the duration of the 2.5 hours of his show, occasionally drinking from a bottle of water. Sure, there were a couple of weird obsessed fans who demanded that Smith give them his full attention when they stepped up to the microphone, but the evening was a night to remember. Smith got permission from the State Theater management to go 30 minutes over the allotted time. Smith closed his show with a funny anecdote about his wife not being a great fan of all of his movies, but being a great fan of him, the person. He even read the text exchanges from his cellphone where his wife encouraged him to be funny, and then misquoted Yoda from Star Wars which Smith corrected, which led to a funny, sarcastic exchange between them before the show. Perfect way to end the show. Smith took the audience full circle from his first movie Mall Rats which was filmed in Minnesota, to his life in Hollywood as a recognized director for his talent and personality.

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Kevin Smith live and I couldn't be any happier. In the last two years he is a man I have grown to admire immensely. Aside from the movies, his work on podcasts and in comics has had a great affect on me. Inspiring me to explore other creative avenues I had might not otherwise considered. The show was three hours of hilarious stories, touching moments, and very inspirational words. I am beyond delighted with the whole experience. Thank you Kevin Smith for being an all around class act!

Such an AMAZING night; Kevin Smith was hilarious and such a nice guy. He really wanted to hear what the audience had to say. It was three hours long I wish it was longer. I recommend to anybody who is a big nerd like me. I can't wait until he comes back to st.Louis.

Kevin was so funny... i laughed my a$$ off. He talked for 3 hours & i could have stayed and listened for another 3. I will go see him every time hes close by! Love love love him! However the venue itself i would not recommend. Seats were crammed together & all on same level so it was hard to see without moving every couple seconds cuz someone in front of you moved. If you ever go to the Pageant get balcony seats... at least they are staggered like a movie theater.
