For authenticity, you wont find a better Doors tribute than the Robby Krieger Band. Robby's authentic guitar renditions and his son, Waylon, on vocals, who had the benefit of coaching by Robby and Ray, lend characteristics to a performance not likely to be seen in another Doors tribute band. Good sound technicians helped deliver an enjoyable experiance.

Robby Krieger sounded as good or better than he did when I first heard him play in '67 (48 years ago). I've heard him play in concert 3 times\u2026.this was his best performance. One of the true heroes of rock guitarists from the 60's. Manzarek and Morrison would've been proud of their band mate.

I have been a fan of the Doors since I was conceived. Jim died shortly before I was born so I love the fact that live Doors music is still out there to be loved and enjoyed. I sat next to my Dad for this show and we loved every minute of it. They played The Wasp!!! I highly suggest seeing them if you get a chance. I would also like to say the venue at Potawatomi is a real diamond in the rough. Small, intimate, friendly staff, etc. Great time. Just like Jim would have wanted it.

I was drawn to this event because I'm a fan of Hendrix, have loved Jimmy Blue's tribute show, and am an even greater fan of The Doors, so seeing/hearing Robby Kreiger again in person was terrific. Because it was a Hendrix Birthday Tribute I didn't expect any Doors songs, so I was ecstatic at the end when Robby et al played 3 of the greatest Doors hits: Riders on the Storm, LA Woman, and my personal favorite, When The Music's Over. It took a few hours to come down off the high of this great evening. I hope they will do it again next year.

The show started off badly with a tribute to a Ghetto Fighters member who knew Jimi. Inappropriate family movie and stripper, yes stripper, during singing of "Angel". The show picked up from there and culminated with a truly amazing set by Robby Krieger who blew everyone away with his Hendrix tribute. He then launched into a couple of Doors songs that stole the show.

Krieger and his band were amazing! The guy's a true musician. He respects his past but looks forward. The band, which consisted of players from Zappa and Allan Holdsworth were kick ass. It was great not only hearing the classic Krieger/Doors tunes like "Roadhouse Blues" and (of course) "Light My Fire" but his new stuff sounded great, too. The Zappa influence definitely showed itself. Particularly fine was "Coffin Riders." Not only is the man a great musician, but he's humble, fan friendly, too. He stuck around and generously signed whatever anyone brought in and took pics with the people too. Mr. Krieger - it was an honor to catch you in concert!

My only real complaint is that I would have liked to have heard more of the classic Doors hits. He/they only played four: Backdoor Man, Love Me Two Times, Riders on the Storm (which is my 2nd fave Doors song other than My Eyes Have Seen You) and Light My Fire. (They did play a few other Doors songs that are lesser known.) Also I believe the set was only 14 songs total and I would have liked longer. Still, Krieger can still really play! He has not lost it at all. He and his band were very very good! The sound was also very good and well mixed other than Krieger's lead vocals were a bit too low in the mix on a couple of the Doors songs. But, all in all I had a great time and it was very nice to see a former Door play live for the first time. I shall not forget it. Kudos to him for still being out there bringing his music to the public.

What an honor it was to see the guitarist of my favorite band up close and person play an intimate set. Robby and his fellow band members played songs from his Singularity album and it was absolutely an honor to be in the audience. The only downfall was that after the performance, Robby was supposed to answer questions from the audience and he darted for the door after his last song.

Wonderful location for a show. Very intimate. Welcomed opportunity to learn about artists up close and personal. Robbie Krieger lets his music speak for himself and he's ventured out into the jazz realm. Was expecting a bit more Doors' songs performed live.

Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek, and band were non-stop in creating an atmosphere of rock and roll excitement. The new lead singer had the audience mesmerized with his stage presence. He was able to capture the intensity of each song's lyrics with his vocal delivery and body language. The band, as a whole, had the audience dancing, singing, and totally enjoying their great performance. In case, you saw the original Doors with Jim Morrison -- i did twice-- and can't imagine their performing without Jim, see Robby, Ray, and their band's show. No one, of course, will ever be Jim Morrison, but these musicians are so talented and the music is so powerful that you may find yourself totally immersed in a beautiful musical madness: "...When the music is your special friend, dance on fire as it intends.."

Performance was awesome. Robbie and Ray were great. Drummer and bass player were great. Music was totally tight and together. Miljenko Matijevic replacing Jim Morrison was great. Okay, replacing Jim is a very tough job, but he did it well in his own modern version which was somewhat refreshing in many ways. One thing is that his vocals were terrific, and that's a big part of what it's all about.. All in all, it was a great concert and my wife and I enjoyed it very much. I give it a 5 out of 5 for what they achieved musically.

It was an unforgettable experience! The venue was cozy and we had great seats! The opening band, Angeles, rocked and was a great way to get the audience fired up for Robby Krieger. The audience didn't wait long for Robby Krieger and his Jam Kitchen to play. We rocked to many of The Doors songs, as well as a few from Zappa, and some new music from the band. It was a really awesome experience and we cannot wait to see Robby Krieger again soon!

This show is the sleeper of the summer! You could tell after the first few notes that these are amazing musicians! Robbie assembled an all star group for this tour ( two former Frank Zappa alumni and drummer formerly with Chick Corea's band) and it's obvious that he hasn't ever put down his guitar either. Expertly played from start to finish by these guys - if you like music you will love this show. Don't miss it!

Outstanding! Good mix of Doors songs, new Robbie compositions (man, he's jazzy!) and Mothers tunes. Robbie was so cordial, relaxed, and friendly with the crowd. Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale is a small venue and it felt like having them play in your living room. Tommy Mars from the MOI kinda stole the show with unbelievable keyboard work. And if you are near Florida, catch The Funky Nuggets, they blew everyone away!

First let me say that The Doors are one of Dawns most favorite bands. Jim Morrison was instrumental in the popularity of the band, and we both had our doubts as to the way the music would sound without his powerful vocals. Also the fact that John was not with them (and will probably never be again) all led us to be very nervous as to the quality of the sound we were going to hear. When we got to the Hilton, we noticed that the first row of seating was reserved for the big casino cardholders. We did manage to snag third row seating and it was looking up. But then the reality of the mosh pit standing section in front of the seated area led us to be a bit concerned for viewing ability once the show started. This was due in part to the fact that Dawn is short in statue and if taller individuals sat in front of us, she would have to stand on her seat to get a good view. I asked one of the security people about the possibility of us moving up to the first row if they were not filled with card holders and we were lucky enough to be able to move up before the show started. So far the visibility factor has been resolved. Then the lights dimmed, and the show began. Out came Ray and Robby, along with Milijenko Matijevic dressed as we would imagine Jim would have been, black leather pants and an open buttoned white shirt. Along with them were Ty Dennis on Drums and Phil Chen on Bass. Collectively these five musicians managed to recreate the original sound of the Doors from the 60's in a most surreal fashion. Mili (as he is called) seemed all night to be a perfect reincarnation of Jim for the entire show. His mannerisms, and posture/gestures were reminiscent of seeing Jim with Ray and Robby. Mili's vocals were dead on duplications of the homage to Jim in one of the most true to the original replacements I have ever seen. Ty and Phil are class act musicians, and complimented the two Doors members as if they were there in the 60's. All the songs were done with perfection, and brought back all the memories we had hoped of in wanting to recreate seeing a band that neither Dawn nor I had seen in our youth. The show was nothing short of spectular, and I would highly recommend this show to anyone who loves the sound and the music of the Doors. To miss this show, especially with Mili doing the vocals, is to miss Jim Morrison reincarnated for a killer 2-hour show.

Robby Krieger and his band FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! They were sincerely FANTASTIC!! While his son Waylon did not at first seem like the ideal candidate to sing Doors songs, his personality and style ultimately fit together with the rest of the evening perfectly. And frankly it was so cool to know that it was Robby's son jammin with his Dad all night. It doesn't get much better than that : ) I would ABSOLUTELY go see this again. And by the way, their version of LA WOMAN was EUPHORIC! No joke! It was like a big heavenly Rock-N-Roll party. I will never forget that show, that set, that night. Thank you Robby, Waylon and the rest of the band for a real celebration of the music that The Doors created.

Robbie Krieger at 71 years old can rock a guitar as great as someone half his age. It was an honor to be in the same room as this legend. This Doors retrospective with his son, Waylon on vocals, and an amazing organ player named Nathan Wilmarth is a once in a lifetime. Waylon has no major stage presence, but I almost prefer that to trying to emulate the one and only Jim Morrison--it would almost be an insult to try to accomplish that. What he gets very right is his tone, and he's a cool, likable guy. They performed so many of the greats from "Break on Through", "Back Door Man", "Moonlight Drive". Their encore was amazing--Robbie broke into "Eleanor Rigby" and then morphed into Julie Andrew's "My Favorite Things". Jim and Ray would've been proud.

When Robby Krieger stepped onstage and started playing, for quite some time all I could do was stare at his hands while he played. I was pretty dazzled for sure - this soft spoken man with very loud pants who remains part of the orchestration of my life, my musical heart, the chords and riffs and melodies that inspired me and provided refuge for me during some of the roughest times of my life. After about a half hour, I finally became cognizant of the rest of the group. The band played over two hours of solid Doors songs, and they chose wisely. The band was all solid, including Robby's son Waylon who is a fine vocalist that helped coax the crowd slowly from the depths of their wine and food induced stupor. (To my credit, I was loud and appreciative from the start. I can't tell you how happy I was to be there.) One of my favorite moments was when Robby first picked up the slide and launched into "Moonlight Drive." I would have started crying if I hadn't been so happy. I realize this is all very emotional response and perhaps someone who is more musically inclined wants to know if this review can be trusted because I have such obvious bias. I've seen plenty of shows, plenty of groups. I've heard and watched other bands cover the Doors. I've covered their songs myself. This was BY FAR the best Doors musical performance I've witnessed and why wouldn't it be as one of the Doors actually hand selected the musicians - keys, bass, drums, Waylon on vocals, and Robby on guitar. At one point, a guitarist who had played in a Doors tribute band joined them onstage and there was some pretty sweet dueling SG action. I don't remember which song, sadly - I was very close and more than a little starstruck. About halfway through, the energy picked up a bit more and Robby started tearing through some evocative and expressive improv riffs that I allowed to carry me where they wanted to go. Loved the musical banter between the keyboard player and Robby. Obviously a highly talented group and it's wonderful to see the legacy carry on with such spirit and honor. By "The End," a lot of us were on our feet for the entire song. I would've been glad to stand and dance the entire show. My soul was on fire for sure. Thanks for everything, Mr. Krieger and co.

Robbie Krieger still plays the guitar with the energy and talent of 50 years ago and he slipped in enough comments about the departed Doors Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek to give some insights. The band can really pay the Doors. Nobody can sing like Jim Morrison, but Krieger's son in his place was very good in his own style.

The band was exceptional, especially the keyboard player. Robbie Krieger still one of the best and a treat to see. Problem is with his son as lead singer. He knows the notes and the words most of the time. No energy or charisma and that was made painfully clear when Eric Burdon came on for two songs that were a ten of 10. It may hurt but Robbie should replace his son.

Robby Krieger was Phenomenal!!! I like everyone else there could've stayed all night long and just listened in total amazement! was extremely disappointed with this venue from the low quality overpriced food to the extra 20% service charge added to your food bill for who knows what. the stage lights would randomly blind people who were looking at the band preform so it was hard to continually watch. the music was incredible. the band had great energy and personality. would've really enjoyed to hear someone who sounded more like Jim but Robby JAMMED!!!

It was cool to see Robby and most of the band, but overall the show was a real bust. If it weren't for the opening act, the night would frankly have been ruined. Robby pretty much just phoned it in from his Where's Waldo-and-pajamas getup, and you couldn't hear what he said on the rare occasions he actually spoke. I was expecting to hear at least a little from him about his days with the Doors and maybe before the Doors and after the Doors, but no, nothing. But the biggest spoiler by far was Robby's son Waylon as lead singer. The dude is a total d-bag who seems to think being a disinterested drunk on stage gives him rock-star cred. He's dead wrong. He's a no-talent jackass. There were probably at least a dozen people in the audience who could have easily put on a more engaging set than that show-ruining buffoon. What a waste of time and ticket money.

For myself I am a huge Doors fan and wasn't able to see Jim Morrison when he was alive. To see first hand a surviving member of the band is totally awesome and an unforgettable experience. Robby played well and I was living it up to be a witness to his guitar expertise. The rest of the band played well with Robby and all in all it was quite enjoyable. Long live the Lizard King, Tribute At The Lizard King's Feet. The legend lives on and his words will hold their own as time surpasses. Robby was lucky to be apart of the greatest band of all times. Robby performed well, as did most of the band. They played a long set of great Doors hits. Unfortunately the lead singer, Robby's son, comes across as lazy, arrogant, and disinterested. No one expects Jim Morrison but this singer was just going through the motions. The bright spot of the set was when the opening band's singer took over for one song. He did a good job and would be a suitable replacement. I stayed to the end hoping that Leslie West might join in but that didn't happen. If I knew this, I would have left earlier in the evening.

I went in not knowing what to expect and was happily blown away hearing one Doors song after another performed by Robby and his son - whose name I can't recall. It was nice to see Robbie out front with the guitar with extended jams, as compared to when Jim Morrison got all the attention. You really appreciated how good a guitar player he is and how many styles he is good at, including rock, jazz and blues. His son did a competent job of singing without doing a I am Morrison trip or veering off into karaoke. They had general admission standing area down front, so even though we had great tickets in the first tier of seating, we eventually went down front by the stage to get a better view. It was funny when his son sang Love Her Madly, which was song Robbie wrote for his mother about them breaking up several times when they were dating. Edgar Winter was great opening act. I had thir album in high school and never thought I would hear Frankenstein live. Robbie played for 2 hours without breaking a sweat and Edgar Winter was very high energy too. Not bad for two 70 year olds!

The Edgar Winter band and Robby Krieger and his band still have what it takes to play rock & roll with power and energy . The performances elevated talent and music over glitz and glam. Edgar played keyboards and percussion and sang it like the old days. Mr. Krieger brought the house down doing a great Doors set with the vigor of a man 1/3 his age. I was also pleasantly surprised by the up and coming opening act Gnarly Karma. The singer has a velvety raw voice while the sound from the bomping bass, lead guitar, sax and drums get you out of your seat. Its great to hear the younger guys keeping up with the older guys. All in all a five star night.

Edgar Winter was by far the better act. They didn't amp up the sound to shrill levels like Krieger did. Robby Krieger still has the chops, but his son as a singer leaves much to be desired. Much to "electric" to remind anyone of a "Doors sound". Rest of his band was ordinary. As usual, the acoustics in the Welmont Theatre leave much to be desired.

It was a good night out with great music. The band played very well and the singer did as good as he could. He had really big shoes to fill and didn't quite have enough full and richness needed. I guess they should interview me for the job. All in all a great night with friends and music. The roadhouse is very nice but the smoking in the casino did carry into the pub. Being a none smoker coming into and leaving thru the casino was not good. The smoke was horrible so thick I got out as soon as possible. I Thought we would play a little afterwards but the smoke was just too much!

The show was amazing. We had a great time reliving The Doors music. Robby has put together a great band. His son is by no means Jim Morrison but does a good job. I would recommend any Doors fan going to this show. Well worth the money.

The show was top-notch. Amazing, as he always is. The sound, however, was terrible. It was too loud for the venue.

The show was pretty good overall. I'm a big fan of the Doors, so this was a great experience to see Robby Krieger live. From his extended opening to Spanish Caravan to his band jamming out in the middle of Light My Fire, there was something for every fan of The Doors. The only down side of the show is that the singer (Robby's son) was pretty bad. I know nobody could ever replace Jim Morrison, but this guy really sucked. Other than that though, I would recommend this to anybody that likes Robby Krieger and The Doors. RIP Ray and Jim

To see Robby Krieger perform is a special treat.get out and do it while you Can! He was aided by a crack band and lead vocalist Waylon Krieger, his proud son !They performed The Doors great songs, highlighted by Light My Fire,Robby's signature song! The atmosphere was electric,as was the performance.

From the 1st song, it was apparent that he has enjoyed playing his music for a long time. His son will carry on his legacy. His band mates were a great compliment to Robby. Thanks!!

We had an excellent night at The Stone Pony seeing Robby Krieger of the Doors. I was a bit worried as I'd never been there before and saw bad reviews of The Stone Pony but I couldn't find anything wrong with the place at all other than it got so crowded but it all worked out just fine. I drank Cosmos which were very good. I even got a bar stool 3/4 of the way through when a couple left early. That was lucky since I have herniated discs in my back. I was very impressed with the bathroom being so clean too. There was a woman there keeping it very clean and it smelled really good. I even heard people walk in saying wow, this smells great for a bathroom! LOL Robby Krieger was excellent but I knew he would be. The Doors are my favorite band but Robby being the only original could make one think it wouldn't be so good but it was GREAT!! I definitely will see him again when he is in the area. His son is the vocalist which was a surprise for me. I'm so happy he is going to keep the music going!!

Real enjoyment flowed from this session. Most of the Doors brilliant songs were performed cleanly, accurately, and allowing me to immerse myself once again in the trip so uniquely theirs. This enhanced by some lovely Robbie Krieger solos, enough to add a very personal, present dimension, while not breaking the mood of the actual Doors songs. As one who dislikes cover bands, I was won over by the singer, having the incredible courage to even stand in place of Jim Morrison, delivering each song faithfully, without embellishment, using his own voice, not making the tragic mistake of attempting to mimic Morrison. While adequate, the keyboard lacked the exciting, sharp attack that was Ray Manzarek's. I believe Robbie Krieger's presence was the critical element in maintaining authenticity, preventing any revisionist presentations, any improvisation, any of which would have killed my experience. Always, I truly hate the abuse of an audience with an interminably long wait between opening act and main performance, when it is obvious the stage is fully set, and one can only imagine the performer(s) backstage, relaxing with a "let them wait" sneer, while the occasional techie walks onstage to fiddle with something, attempting to preserve the illusion of necessary ongoing preparation. Life is too short for this nonsense, while arrogance is always ugly. Of course, with the first note, the club's revenue stream stops: almost no further paid admissions; few liquor sales.

Very upset about waiting through two opening bands, whom I had no knowledge or interest in whatsoever! My ticket said Robby Krieger at 8:00, not 9:30! I would not have gone if I knew about this. My time is very valuable. However, the Robbie Krieger band was very good, although the lead singer doesn't sound at all like Jim Morrison.

Robby was fantastic as usual but Waylon was not even close. I've witnessed many post-Jim concerts with Robby and Ray and most of the singers did passable renditions of the classic Doors songs. Waylon seems like a good kid but the karaoke style of his performance was barely listenable. The singer who accompanied Robby at the BB King tribute to Jimi Hendrix earlier this year was spot on. Robby should enlist him for future shows.

Robby was great and his band was tight. His son, the lead singer, could not sing, had a bad attitude and really ruined the show for me. At one point he told the crowd to "f*%& off." Totally uncalled for and inappropriate. I've never seen lesser talent with such an ego.

Besides singing off key for much of the night, Waylon tried to act like Jim Morrison to a crowd twice his age. He came off like a buffoon. Robby's playing was great as always! Oh.....what a father will do for his son! However, letting Waylon do this shtick was no favor. Maybe at some point he'll teach his children well (oops wrong band but right message)

Too loud. Way too much reverb. Waylon Krieger brought the show down with his out of pitch, weak voice. What was Robby thinking? Plus the drums overpowered everything!

I hate giving a bad review!!!! Love Robby Krieger .But show was terrible.I would think that Robby Krieger being the musician he is wouldn't like too hear what I heard .Lead vocal was hard too listen too.I'm a musician so don't want too be too hard on Robby. But he should not be touring with this band.Left the show EARLY!!!!!!

My husband and I are huge Doors fans and when we found out Robby Kreiger was coming locally, we were very excited and got tickets. During the very first song, we looked at eachother and smiled and were instantly happy we purchased them! Robby was fantastic and played for about 2 hours. The lead singer was Robby's son who we thought did a good job covering. Don't get me wrong, he isn't Jim, but he did a good job! If you closed your eyes for a minute, you felt like you were back in the late 60's at a real Doors concert. People were dancing in the aisles and clapping and singing along. It was a great show!! Go see him!

Was a bit disappointed in last night's show as although a huge fan of The Doors and in particular, Robby, none of us could understand the choice for lead vocals..his son. I can only guess that the regular vocalist had to cancel? Aside from the grating lack of vocal chops at some key moments in some key songs, the kid came off as whiny and at various points acted a bit unprofessional..like responding to the expected chorus of song requests with a snide "Well, the show's already is half over"..party foul dude! And at one very awkward moment in the show, even apologized for not being of the caliber as the other players on stage..at which point he learned a valuable lesson from the consummate pro, his dad, who more or less cut him off mid confession and started up the next song. Sorry if I come off as an insensitive jerk but the kid ain't ready for prime time.. I for one, will be carefully checking the lineup should they come to town again.
