Small club, awesome place to see legendary thrash metal band OVERKILL. Played old faves, Wrecking Crew, Rotten to the Core and Hello from the Gutter. New stuff from The Grinding Wheel like Mean Green Killing Machine, Bobby Blitz has one of the most recognizable vocals in metal. Second favorite live band after SLAYER. Great show.

Good show, but seriously, the sound should have been better balanced. I am one of those people who wants LESS BASS rumbling. Symphony X was really good and I hadn't been familiar with them before. Overkill was lots of fun. Salvation was pretty good. Thanks to the security people who helped me out with a minor issue.

The 5 stars is not for the overall show its just for overkill because with the exception of Forbidden all the other bands were a waste and boring as hell trying to recreate and capture the essence of 80's thrash but were shown up when the big boys showed em how its done. blitz is one of the most amazing frontmen I've seen live. He pure energy on stage. and the rest of the band was flawless and the sound was perfect. Next time it should just be overkill for 5 hours and then it would be the best show EVER!!!

Great show! After nearly 30 years, these guys are still composing A+ thrash metal, and never release a bad album. Set list included lots of favorites with a few new tunes sprinkled in. It's a shame no one knows about the best thrash band of all time. Let's face it-- Metallica, Megadeth & Anthrax have put put out some disappointing crap, Slayer is stale, and Testament had that growling "Demonic" album after Chuck's surgery-- but OverKill has been hammering out great stuff consistently since 1985's "Feel the Fire.".

The opening acts were very good including Forbidden, which I seen some years earlier. Then Overkill came on. Just amazing is the only way I can describe them. I have seen them many times in the past going back to around 1987 opening for Slayer!!! They came out and tore Firestone a new one. They set the bar so much higher. They along with Testament are as good as any of the Big Four if not better than some. I hope its not so long next time they come around.

Incredible. Every band was good, some better than others. Backlash, the local band, was okay, but not breathtaking. Bonded by Blood was alright, but I didn't like the singer. Gama Bomb was easily my favorite opener, with Evile a close second. Forbidden was good, but I was wasn't feeling them. Overkill was beyond words. Every band is thrash, but they each have their own unique approach to the style. If you haven't seen Overkill, like I hadn't, then you need to because you haven't seen a REAL thrash metal show until you've witnessed their relentless performance of power.

Forbidden was amazing live and sounded tight as hell after a 13 year live hiatus. Phenomenal musicians playing their classic bay area thrash as well as tunes from their new album Omega Wave. I have followed them since their Forbidden Evil release and was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to see them perform. Just wish they could have played a full set....looking forward to seeing them again. Highly recommended! Overkill was solid as always and played over an hour and a half. Sound was incredible except rhythm guitar was a little lost in the house mix. Saw Overkill once before and they never disappoint....110% energy from beginning to end! They played all of the stand out songs from their vast catalog. Go see 'em!

OVERKILL IS THE MOST UNDERRATED BAND IN THRASH METAL. THEY'VE BEEN AROUND 1980'S AND THEY ROCK. BLITZ STILL ROCK AS GOOD AS HE DID IN THE 80'S. THE ONLY THINK THEY MISSED ITS THEIR OVERKILL LOGO ON THE STAGE, JUST LIKE THE ONE YOU SEE ON THEIR "HELOO FROM THE GUTTER" SONG. THE STAGE WAS NOT THE BEST, BUT THEIR PERFORMANCE WAS AWESOME. NOW ADAYS, STAGE SET UP COUNTS ALOT, BUT YOU PROBABLY CANNOT ASK FOR MUCH FOR A $25 SHOW. IF YOU LIKE OVERKILL, THEIR PERFORMANCE IT IS ALWAYS GOOD.

Great band, very underrated, but makes music the way rock was meant to be played. They are a living example of what it means to be hard working and yet be more successful than the noisy thrash bands of this modern era. Long live their exclusive brand of electrifying and pulsating music.

We arrived at Times Square only to be held back by NYPD barricades and told "the terrorist threat was high" and we could not go down the block. The two blocks flanking that street were blocked too. $160 wasted! Travel time to/from NYC and Mastic Beach 3 hours! Parking, gas, etc. So dissapointing. Found out yesterday that Nokia theater was NOT evacuated, only the streets....So Overkill played! AAAARRRGGHHH!!!!! what now?

I have been a fan of overkill since their first release back in 1985, the first time I saw them live was the under the influence tour in 1988, and have not missed a show in the new york/ new jersey area since then. I must say they are like a fine wine, their shows and performances seem to get better as time goes on. Last night was an amazing show and the band was absolutely air tight!

I'm not Linda, I'm her son Paul (I was the one who went). OverKil was the best band I've seen live, although we'll see if Maiden can't top them come June. San Francisco sucked though. Too crowded and most people there verry rude. Over all overkill was great.

The show was amazing! Overkill is one of the very few bands that in their long and illustrious career have NEVER compromised their musical integrity for the record labels, the masses or for what was trendy or in demand at the time. They stayed true to their core values and it shows in their music. They surprisingly crank out albums which never cease to impress and inspire passion in the genre. Now, as for the show, all of that applies to their live performance. It's rare to see a live metal show where the musicians are so tight, so attuned to one another and so intense all at the same time. These guys defy time and throw down with the best of them....actually, they are one of the best shows I've seen. Period. And I've been to scores of concerts over the last 20 years.

Overkill was one of the original thrash bands of the 80's and is still cranking out fantastic albums 20 something years later. After seeing this show it's obvious while they've survived so long, The put on a spectacular live show. They played three great songs from the the new cd "Irounbound" (The Green and Black, Ironbound and Bring me the night). They also played some of their many classics: Rotten to the Core, Feel the Fire, Wrecking Crew, Hello From The Gutter, Elimination, Bare Bones, Coma, Gasoline Dream to name a few. As great as their material is on cd, it really comes to life when played live. The have a presence on stage that commands attention and should act as a model to all other metal bands. Overkill is one of the best live bands I've ever seen and will continue to see them every time they play in Los Angeles.

With the popularity and caliber of experience of Overkill, we feel that they did not need so many opening bands. At most, three bands could have performed before them. The fact that FIVE bands opened for them was excessive. For this number of bands to have been appreciated, the show should have started a couple of hours earlier. In the long run, we would have had a much better time at the show if only a couple of bands performed before Overkill came on stage, and we could have fully enjoyed their performance instead of being so exhausted by the time 12:30 came around.

It has been 15 years since I have been able to catch an Overkill show, having seen them seven prior times. They did not disappoint. The sound, the energy, and the feel just made me remember why I still buy their discs and listen to heavy metal in general. I am giving the show a 4 star rating just because they played 4 new songs, which at show time I was unaware that they had released a new disc. The songs and disc is vintage Overkill and great work, but I would have loved to hear more older songs. Four is a bit much from a new record when only playing 16 songs. Add in that three other of the songs were from the the first three records leads to lots of history being left out, complete albums untouched. Expected from a band with so much to choose from, but disappointing nonetheless. I definitely hope they return soon to KC. I'll be there.

I went to see Accept. Without Udo I can live. TT Quick sounds better these days anyway. But C'mon- No Fast as a Shark- Lovebite-Midnight Mover? Nothing. I know they had a new album out, but C'mon. It's NYC. I saw them open for Maiden at the Coliseum on the world slavery tour, during the Metal Heart album. Probably at their US peek, playing THOSE songs. Not the other crap. No neon nights. They all sounded tight but just a disappointing set. AAlso how does Overkill Not play their biggest charting song? In Union We Stand? I sometimes don't get it. Metal rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OVERKILL is without question one of the best metal bands of all time and the consistency of their live performances is remarkable. Many singers lose their edge with age, but somehow Bobby Blitz is as good now as he was 25 years ago - amazing! Excellent sound, exceptional musical ability and the song selection is a perfect mix of older songs and newer material. The VIP meet'n'greet is a 'MUST DO' because they are truly a great group of guys who actually enjoy meeting and talking with their fans. The show was not some 30min performance either. It went for a good 100mins+. Do yourself a favor and go to one of their concerts - the best value for money metal show you may ever see.

The line-up of Sabaton, Accept and Overkill was incredible. It was my first time seeing all three bands and they all killed it. Sabaton was amazing live, they have such energy and are so much fun. Accept was everything I expected and more, everything was on point. The vocals were fantastic and their performance overall was seemless. The show was great !!! VIP tickets did NOT give me anything extra for the money because everyone (the acts) were late and Overkill had to leave immediately after the show for their next location. Spoke with employees at Jaxx three times and they really did not have any answers about meeting the band, two times no one even bothered to get back with me with any information. Finally learned could not see them before or after the show. Have been to Jaxx numerous times and this is the most disappointed have been. Drove from Harford County MD to see a band that I really admire and did NOT get what I paid extra money for. Seats ended up being general admission NOT VIP that I paid for.

I went to this Starland Ballroom show celebrating Overkill's 25th Anniversary and was not at all dissapointed. The night was filled with some good opening acts like Forbidden, who rocked after such a long absence! Overkill came on stage and shredded with some new and old stuff alike. Everyone it seemed was stage diving, including Bobby Blitz during the show! My body ached after the show from all the moshing, jumping screaming, and pushing...but I wouldn't have it any other way! After 25 glorious years Overkill still wreck your neck!!!! God Bless 'em all and looking forward to many more shows!

The show was billed as a 25th anniversary show, so there was a ton of old school stuff. Aside from the four tracks from Ironbound( which is easily their best in years) they mixed in, nothing was newer than Necroshine. Would have loved to have seen some stuff from Killing Kind, I Hear Black, or From the Underground, but the tracks they did play were great deep selections. The Starland is THE place to see show these days...great venue.

Overkill at the Starland Ballroom was simply amazing. An evening filled with a collection of thrash bands chronicling the history of the genre itself. Strong performances from up and coming bands like Evile, Bonded By Blood, and Gamma Bomb set the tone for the evening, only to be put into overdrive by veterans Forbidden and Overkill. The Starland Ballroom itself is a great venue, enough room for people to pack into the pit area, and plenty of seats around the bar for those who want to stay out of harms way. The crowd was electric for this one, but i don't think anybody could of expected any less.

This entire show was absolutely AMAZING!!! I last saw Overkill about 18 years ago in a little bar in Atco NJ. I was a little hesitant about the show since many of the bands that were around in the 80's have fallen to absolute terribleness!!! I was so pleasantly surprised!!! Overkill was just AWESOME!!! I would recommend that anyone who liked them back in the day definitely go check them out again!!! It was worth every penny!

When Bobby Blitz came out onto the stage and ran up to the mic, I knew it was going to be a great and unforgettable show. He retained the energy of a young rockstar even though he's 51 year old! The band was at the top of their game and dug right into their metal energy. They began with "The Green and Black" and never lost a bit of energy throughout the entire show. There was crowdsurfing, banging heads all around, and lots of metal love. They played some of my favorite songs like "The Green and Black", "Wrecking Crew", "Give A Little", "Old School" and some others! I loved it soo much.

I was never a fan of Over Kill. I went to see them in NYC as part of their Killfest Tour with Vader. I went to actually see Vader. I stayed for Over Kill. Man was I surprised! They totally delivered the goods. Thats why when I saw that they were back in my area, I automatically got the tickets and just as I expected they totally delivered again. Every song was dead perfect, sounded great and totally energenic. I also wanted to see Bonded By Blood on this leg of the tour and if you havent seen them yet, you should. Get on the left side of the stage and watch the lead guitarist. This guy has mad mad skills. The band know how to write Thrash music to satisfy the old schoolers and the new schoolers. And keep in mind, they are a bunch of young guys. Evile was a surprise to me. I can beleive how good they were. Great sound, pounding thrash that keeps you headbanging. I am now a fan and will be picking up they music. Gama Bomb was a fun band to hear and see. I am not a fan of Forbiden but if you go see them, keep your ears trained on the drummer. His double bass drum sounds as if he has 4 feet - fast, tight, dead perfect and thunderous. And it sounds amazing. He was the highlight of that band. But to anyone reading this review, even if you are not an Over Kill fan or just never got into their music, this is a band to go see. You will be a beleiver. They made me into one thats why I went to see them again. And playing with bands like Bonded By Blood and Evile will intoduce to you some great Thrash metal that you didnt know existed. Check you local listings! LOL.

Overkill still has it after 30+ years. Lots of energy,a new mix of songs,a new drummer (Jason Bittner from Shadows Falls) and a never ending mosh pit. They deserve more credit then they receive, however they probably do not care anymore. Crowbar was direct support and pretty good. Havoc played before Crowbar and they were excellent. Overkill is the best band that I have seen live. They are always on point and Bobby Blitz's voice is amazing live and has gotton better with age. Last time I saw Overkill was in May, 2010. They were awesome back then, and they haven't changed a bit. A powerful hour and a half of thrash music to headline the Metal Alliance Tour. I enjoyed all the band on the bill, but, Black Fast were the best of them. I described them as Cradle of Filth meets the speed of Megadeth. Thats the band to watch for in the new few years. I'm keeping an eye out to see them again. And,of course, when I can see Overkill, I will definitely see them.

These guys can really do no wrong in my eyes, especially live. They are one of the heaviest and tightest live bands in the world. In my opinion they are far more deserving of Big 4 status than Anthrax. The fact that their last 3 albums have been some of their best material in more than 20 years and they pull off every note live is incredible. If you're a thrash metal fan you must see Overkill next time they come to town.

Symphony X entertains and builds the momentum for the main act Overkill. They are just as tight and dynamic as they were back when I first saw them in '86. With a catalog of music their size they managed to please the crowd with a good mixture of classic and newer. Great band.

Excellent night- the three bands combined were a bargain. Sanctuary's set was short but sweet and a rare opportunity to see them reunited. Dane's live vocals and stage presence were excellent. Symphony X was unbelievable- very tight well-choreographed set. Overkill closed the night with a great cross section of its catalog and three encores. Veteran bands performing at their primes. Great venue too- set up very well with intimacy and separate bars. Friendly fans gave me Mets-Cubs score updates too. Worth missing NLCS Game 1 for this event!

Overkill never disappoints and they were really good tonight. After 35 years I do not see them slowing down. The catalog of songs is so vast that they can never play all of the songs that I think they should play, however what they played was great.

I always enjoy Overkill. Their stage presence is unforgettable and their energy contagious.. They tore through their set with the precision and power I've come to expect after seeing them many times. A good mixture of new and old material made the show that much more enjoyable. They also always have an old-school moshpit where everyone is having fun and looking out for each other. That is not so much the case with newer bands that are on the scene now. I was not familiar with Symphony X before the show but found their music engaging as well. More melodic than thrash but an impressive sound and stage show none the less. Would definitely see them again if the opportunity presents itself.

The lights dim and the smoke covers the stage. Everyone in the crowd stares at the hanging poster of Chaly behind the drum-kit. Then, Overkill hits the stage and makes the night one of the best in the world. Bobby Blitz is still on top of his game, constantly running around and singing those high notes at such a faced paced speed. And the only people that can keep up with him is the incredibly talented band backing Bobby's vocals and the moshers in the pit. To say that the music was great would be an understatement,.. it was perfect. Never have I seen a band more alive and thrashing than ever before. What an awesome performance by them!

I've waited for over 20 years to see these guys play, everything from work to funerals always foiled my opertunities with tickets in hand. All said it was worth the wait. New and old songs alike were just killer. These guys have been around for a few years and they play with a vengeance. A brutal full throttle assault and I loved e.very second of it. Best part was open floor so that I could get in the pit then work my way right to the front. Oh yeah and to top it off I got one of D.D. Verni's picks. All in all it was one hell of a night that I will never forget. Thanks guys.

I couldn't believe how good Blitz sounded. The band is tight, the new album is killer, and Blitz is one of the best frontmen out there. I can't wait to see them again.

Overkill kills and always has. The first time I saw them was before thier first EP came out in like 1983 with a band called Takashi.....they shred more now than ever! Great sound....great crowd participation and totally cool shirts (special ones for each show) They (as always) have the eeirie green light, crunching guitars and thunderous double bass that beats in your chest......plus BLITZ screeeeaaammmmmzzzzz! Totally recommend......blow off other shows-but never miss Overkill.

Overkill was in top form. What a great bunch of guys. (did meet and greet) I have no idea why they are so unappreciated here in the states. They've got so many great songs. They would have to play for several hours for me to get my Overkill fix. Blitz was great and the rest of the guys are superb musicians. What more do they have to do....Go buy their music! "From the underground and below" to "Electric age" go get them.
