STARS IN CONCERT:Concertgoers are in for an emotional tour de force the minute indie pop collective Stars steps on stage. For more than two decades the he said-she-said dynamic of singers Torquill Campbell and Aimee Millan has been making fans swoon with sentimental bliss. Ticket buyers will be treated to highlights from the band's rich and diverse catalog of emotive tunes, from the heart-wrenching "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" to the tender "Do You Want To Die Together?". The vulnerability behind Campbell and Milan's soft voices pairs seamlessly with the band's flourishing instrumentation, resulting in a strikingly raw live experience fans won't want to miss.

I had next been to a Stars show before - lots of energy and fun atmosphere. Good times however opening band was terrible - but made Stars oh so much better! Good stuff - I recommend seeing them if you get a chance also check out list of songs they played on photo attached to review! :-)

Wonderfully intimate show. Comfortable venue, though there could easily be more available seating at more reasonable prices. The sound system is great, loud but not painfully so, excellent deep end, good separation and clear vocals. Stars put on a great show with a set spanning just about every album. Wonderful.

Venue was good, Stars was better. The crowd was mostly over-enthusiastic twelve-year-olds, but the vibe was okay despite that. Stars threw out white roses to the crowd, and Amy and Torq's voices sounded heavenly.

This has been one of my favorite bands for years. I am just not a fan of their new material, and I feel like for the most part the crowd was not either. If it weren't for some old material being thrown in here or there I would have left earlier. Oh and the opening band...i played with my phone for most of the set.

Once again, Stars gave their all with a performance that rocked the Beachland all night. They played their soon-to-be-released "5 Ghosts" album in it's entirety first and then came back with songs that had received the most votes from their fans. How could anyone be disappointed with that? Stars bring an energy of pure thrill. They love performing and it shows. Amy's voice is absolutely angelic. Can't wait to see them again!

This was my first time at the Paradise and the venue was perfect to see this band. The intimate setting was just what I hoped for. The first set full of sogs I had never heard really reminded me of why I am really into the not so pretty stories sung so prettily by this group, and i cannot wait for their next album. I kind of wish in their next set of songs which have been heard before they had played some songs they just really like playing, and not just fan favorites. But either way I enjoyed myself.

My only complaint is that the show was marked as starting at 8:00, Stars didn't make it to stage till 9:30. However, when a band plays you an entire album, a set of their hits, and two amazing encore songs, it a great show.

After the opening band didn't show up, torq took it upon himself to be our in-house dj for over an hour. Which would of been the highlight of my show until amy milan and the rest of STARS took the stage and blew us away by playing all of their new album, The five ghosts. Not wanting to leave us craving more they played oldies that we had voted for ourselves online. Overall a fantastic show and I think the crowds excitement helped STARS kick off their new tour.

Stars made one of their rare appearances in Boston last night at the Paradise. The show opened with lead singer/songwriter Torquil Campbell doing a DJ set of his favorite tunes, which was pretty cool. His comments were enlightening and funny, and he also sang along in a few spots. Then the band came on to tremendous cheering and applause and played through the entire new album, which is their best yet. Wonderful range of tunes, fantastically performed, touching lyrics, and up to four keyboards at once (more synth on this album than previous stuff). Amy was beautiful, as always, and Torquil incredibly charming. Surprised to hear him say that his family was from Boston and that he used to spend summers in Cambridge "playing tennis badly." They came back for a second set of favorites picked by Boston ticket buyers via the Stars website--great idea. Started with "Your Ex-Lover is Dead" and hit most of my favorites, including "Elevator Love Letter," which Torq said was his favorite of all the Stars tunes. A great, great show, and the band clearly appreciated the warm welcome on the first night of the US tour.

Stars was excellent. They started with an entire set of songs from their currently unreleased album, which got a lot of people pumped. After a short break, they played their more familiar tunes as voted on by their fans online. The structure felt a little cut-and-dry as a result, like they were more restricted--but overall, the group played with great energy. The crowd, on the other hand, was a little irritating. When everyone was screaming a sing-along and bouncing around to "Your Ex-Lover is Dead" as if it was a Justin Bieber ditty, the experience was pretty much ruined.

I was apprehensive when I heard they were playing their new album in its entirety, thinking that was all I was going to hear/see. But they ended up playing two sets, the second consisting entirely of songs that were voted on their website. There was a great mix of old and new songs and the new album definitely will be one of the best released this year.

The show was ruined before it started. Doors opened at 8. The band came on at 10:08! There was no opener, so the crowd stood there listening to recorded music over the speakers for 2 hours. There didn't seem to be any technical difficulties, so the whole build up was completely inconsiderate and frustrating. I've never felt like leaving a show before it started. Driving in from the states and paying $35 for the ticket was the only reason I stayed. Granted, the band sounded great.....when they finally started playing.

I listened to "Stars" new album and I was instantly hooked! Their music is incredible but sadly, I felt like the show was extremely inconsistent. One song was energetic and then the other was super slow. It was extremely awkward. I go to a show almost every week and this show was by far the most disappointing. The opening bands were no where near similar to "Stars" which means the crowd was inconsistent. I just couldn't connect at all. I was waiting for their song "progress" and it never happened. I wished I could have drank more.

I'll admit I didn't see the first opener, but the diamond rings were god awful. I really wanted to walk out on it. It was like vanilla ice, ken block, ron jeremy and some other dude formed a band, and did n*sync and depeche mode covers (which is an insult to both bands I'm sure) Last time I saw stars at Bimbos 365 and Feist opened for them. That was a show worth seeing.

An incredible show! Favorite moments include when the giant disco ball descended during "Hold On When You Get Love," the intimate encore of "The 400," and when the entire audience sang "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" together. I hope Torquil was telling the truth when he said they would be back to LA soon. :)

Stars played for over 90 minutes with a combination of every one of their older hits along with all of the songs off of their new album The North. Every member of the band exhibited enthusiasm and appreciation for their fans. I love supporting bands who have a passion for music and their fans instead of simply touring for money. Stars put small twists on each of their live songs so that they were familiar enough for casual fans, but they felt new for all of us in the crowd who has listened to them hundreds of times before.

Show was good. Diamond Rings was really fun although a bit better recorded. Stars was strong as always even if they seem to be on the decline in terms of energy. Last time I saw them was 4 years ago. The venue is nice but $5 for a bottle of water (and the refusal) to hand you a cup of water and very limited bathrooms facilities added up to a bad experience with the place.

This was my first time seeing Stars, and I loved the show....right up until they told the crowd the band had another show that night, then cut the evening short after playing only 90 minutes. Maybe I shouldn't expect more than that, but to me a concert should be at MINIMUM 2 hours. Just felt like the paying crowd of their first show got shorted so they could go play their free show later that night.

The show was on a Friday night and it took us 1/2 hour to find a parking spot and 1/2 hour to walk from there back to the Paradise. We were willing to pay for parking but the parking lots that we found close to the venue would allow us to stay only for 2 hours maximum. That is not enough time for a concert. Bottom line: very difficult parking should be factored in your decision to attend a show at the Paradise (if, as me, you have to drive to it, of course). The first opening act was good and in line with the Stars' style. The second opening act (the one right before Stars) had a music style completely unrelated to the Stars' one. If I go to see a band, I expect opening acts that are at least somewhat similar. I did not like at all the music of the second act (though some may like it) and I would have rather had no music at all than that.

The show started later than I'm used to, but the opening acts were really good - I definitely am now a fan of 2 new bands! Once Stars got on, though, the place EXPLODED - everyone got really into the songs and the atmosphere was very lively and upbeat. I loved how they played a variety of songs - not just ones from their latest album (which is amazing, by the way). The two lead singers are so endearing - you can't help but love them! After the show ended, all I could think of was how I want to see them live again! Amazing, amazing concert!

Anytime you see Stars in concert, it's a great time. They are just having a blast on stage. They are very very entertaining and keep it interesting. Stars put on the most incredible show -- beyond what I would ever expect. True rock stars, their quality of music and performance was like a dream coming true right before my eyes and hearing and seeing Amy sing was pure, euphoric bliss. Torquil...oh my goodness. Seeing Torquil perform is a memory I will never forget. That carefree, dreamlike smile he had on his face, all of the emotions of the song flickering across his face and the pure joy he reflected from the crowd. He was truly the music personified. The stage was amazing. The rain of rose petals. Amy's voice...her voice! Any opportunity to experience this again is one that I'd gladly surrender any cost to the gods, Stars. And I'll be standing there, close to the stage, cheering them on in awe, immense gratitude, and euphoria. Pure divinity. I love Stars. I am so grateful that they would come all the way to Georgia. Hearts for Stars. Having driven from Orlando, Florida, I would also love it if they had a show here!

We went to see Stars. I had heard Hey Rosetta and liked them but would not pay to see them - until I saw them live. Wow. They were tight, fun and made me dance. They should have been the headliner. Stars was weak. The sound was off and the lighting missed the mark. The lead singer was weak and I was disappointed with the band. We left when the stupid wedding stuff started - that was a stupid idea. Apparently we were not alone. We specifically went to see Hey Rosetta which put on a great opening act. They crank out some high energy, powerful music that swims around the alt rock genre with added horns and strings. There seemed to be a lot of HR fans around us but we failed to generate enough noise for an encore. Not being familiar with Stars, we planned to hang out\u2026 at least for a few songs. Unfortunately the club (or Stars) played opera between sets. It was so annoying we had to leave. Who's idea was that for an audience that came to hear alt rock?

The opening act, Milo Greene, was nothing special--to be honest, they bored me, despite the frankly disconcerting volume--but then Stars came on, and wow. Definitely a different sound from the album recordings, but all the more reason to hear them live! Everyone played great, and Torq and Amy were on fire (no pun intended), dancing and jumping around on stage, telling stories and spurring on the crowd, and the energy was infectious. I found myself dancing and jumping and singing along, right there with them every step of the way--my number one favorite memory of the night is of hanging halfway over the balcony railing screaming "Take me, take me to the riot," my words swallowed up by the roar of the crowd, submerged in the vibrating thrum of excitement running through every single one of us and feeling so damn on.
