Brandi Carlile

BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

There s nothing to forgive! This was the perfect venue for a perfect concert. Brandi, Phil, and Tim can rock with the best of them, and their performance in Asheville was fantastic. They played all of the songs from the new album, but they seemingly played EVERY fan favorite from past albums as well! I have seen them play multiple times, and because they are SUCH great performers and their music speaks to me, I hope I have the opportunity to see them multiple times in the future!

So polished and tight musically yet completely full of energy and passion. Every song felt like it was the last song of the night. So impressive. Brandi was joined by some new backing musicians this time including a string trio and a keyboardist/french horn player. When all 8 players were going at once, there was a massive sound, and then at times, in typical Brandi Carlile style, it was just her alone with a beat up acoustic, or at one point just her and the twins singing un-mic'd at the front of the stage paying homage to the opera house style theater we were in. This was my 6th or so time seeing her. It just never feels worn at all. Loved it.

This was one of the best performances I've ever seen. Incredibly intimate, Brandi and the twins were able to interact with the crowd. The entire show was acoustic. At one point they "unplugged" entirely, Brandi walked around the microphone and amps, and sang a cappella. No problem for her big voice. She deftly navigated covers from John Lennon to Johnny Cash. Relayed an anecdote about the day she met Elton John. Eternally charming. The only way it could have been better is if she were still touring with Indigo Girls

Felt this venue was terrific. The facility is extremely fabulous for viewing and being up close to the entertainer. Food, drinks were well made for this type of entertainment. Am planning to return soon and bring friends to this place. Price for concert was real good at $25 per person.

Brandi Carlile performed for 2hrs at the acoustically correct Leo Rich Theater in Tucson and the room suited her skills perfectly. She is quite capable of rocking the house with full band (i.e. at the Rialto) or providing her delicate balance of voice, guitar and blend of harmonies in an acoustic setting. She never fails to please me with her performances.

I love Brandi, so I was expecting a good show. I saw her last year with A Fine Frenzy. Having enjoyed that show so much, I was excited about the acoustic evening. I didn't realize it would be such an intimate performance. One of my favorite things about Brandi Carlile (besides her singing/songwriting, of course) is that she seems like someone who I could have a beer with and the acoustic show just encouraged that fantasy. Brandi and the rest of the band was so phenomenal. My girlfriend--only somewhat familiar with Brandi--couldn't stop talking about the show!

This was the fourth Brandi Carlile concert that I've been to. She is an amazing artist who truly just keeps blowing my mind. When I think there is no way she could top a certain song she writes another that exceeds it! She sounds even more amazing in concert than on her albums. She's funny and has a unique way of connecting with the audience. Love her!!!

Brandi Carlile is and will always be my favorite musician/singer! My husband says she is the best female vocalist of ALL TIME (I must say, I agree with him 100%)! This was my 2nd time seeing her live and I can't wait to see her again! Her music evokes such strong emotions in me, that I get teary eyed listening to her. She is a lyrical genius, poet and extremely talented musician who is doing what she was put on this Earth to do. Music simply doesn't get any better than Brandi Carlile with her angelic, soulful voice and her awesome band!

My first time at the Montbleau theater. Great venue. We had a booth, ultra comfy and we were so glad when we saw how small some of the tables were there. As for Brandi Carlile, we saw her last year in Reno. What a power house voice she has. She is so amazing to hear, her band is wonderful too. You can just feel her love and appreciation for her fans and her love of what she is doing. If you want to see a real artist that can truly sing... go see Brandi!!!!!!

First, it's important to mention that I never write reviews. The venue was great: it is very small and comfortable, and it had an overall great feel (that can't be described by words). Brandi Carlile was SO amazing live! At one point, given the size of the venue, she stepped out in front of the mic and sang completely unplugged. My only complaint is that the opening gig held everything up by showing up late. This was more than made up for by the end of the night, though. I would recommend this venue and seeing Brandi Carlile to anyone with any interest in music whatsoever.

Brandi Carlile is well worth seeing any chance you get. I felt a little robbed on this show at the start of the set, as the sound-men apparently didn't realize that you should be able to hear Tim & Phil singing or be able to understand Brandi's lyrics...but eventually things got more balanced out and after that the set just kept getting better and better as the night went along.

The show was great. We had awesome seats right up front. Brandi's voice was amazing, and the rest of the band was terrific as well. Fifth time seeing her, and I would certainly go again. This was the last stop on this tour. Amos Lee and Watson Twins were lead in acts, and they put on a fine show as well. Only negative was length of time between acts.

I LOVE Brandi Carlile's music and she sounds just as fabulous live as she does on her records. Her band is amazing and full of energy and this show will just make you smile. She and her band play songs that they don't play on their records such as cover songs of the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel. They did quite a few songs acousticly and her bandmates also sang a few songs. Brandi has great energy and her voice is absolutely amazing. She is the most talented vocalist I have ever seen live.

Ms Carlile is one of those entertainers who shine in person. The audience is engaged by the performers. The cello player was extraordinary, the "twins" were fun, the drummer, Alicia, on target, HOWEVER - the venue of the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand show needs WORK! Number ONE -there are seats along two sets of stairs that travel up to the top sections of seats - the VIEW of the stage is TOTALLY blocked by the metal railings. One has to look through the bars, or stand to see. These seats are sold at the same price as others AND NO MENTION IS MADE OF THESE SEATS AS BEING "OBSTRUCTED VIEW". The view is blocked for TWO [2] seats along the entire length of the railing. Number TWO problem - along that same section D stairway there were two "security guards" -more like temporary fair employees, one older male and one older female outfitted in blue fair employee T-shirts. They insisted on talking loudly about some duty related problem. Loud enough to be bothersome while listening to the music. When asked to speak more quietly - their response was "this is about business" and they continued in their loud conversation. I spent a total of $81.00 for my daughter and I to enjoy Brandi Carlile's music - instead we got a blocked view and babbling security staff. What we could see or hear [after STANDING most of the concert and between the security staff's loud whining conversation] was excellent.

The talent and creativity that was pouring out of every band member created an unforgettable show. The chemistry between them onstage was incredible as was the performance itself. They were truly down-to-earth real musicians, I think we've only seen the beginning... After the show they signed autographs, allowed pictures to be taken, and kind of just hung out and joked around with the fans. Thanks for doing this, it's always nice to be able to talk with and meet the folks you listen to and admire. :)

Brandi was amazing, as usual. She has soo much energy. I love the way she includes the audience so much in her songs. She has the audience do a lot of clapping and on one song the audience does the "ohs" with her, TIm, and Phil. She's really something to see and I would suggest going to see her. The only thing I didn't like was the waiting we had to do at the venue (House of Blues). I've had to wait the same amount for other shows there, so I know it's the venue and not Brandi. We got there at 7 because it was GA and then had to wait till 8 to get in, then the opener didn't come on until 9 and then Brandi didn't come on until 10:20. It didn't end till about 12. A lottttt of standing. But fun nonetheless.

Sunday night the city of Dallas was treated to a great concert from Brandi Carlile and her band. The quality of the songs fit the mood of the evening as the crowd was full of fans, many of them singing along. House of Blues was the perfect intimate setting and the sound mix was as good as it gets. Brandi's voice was strong and up front in the mix. Her backing band was superb and added a version of "Sounds of Silence" that let you know where all those fantastic harmonies originated. The song mix featured many selections from her new album, "Give Up The Ghost". Lucky Pierre says check it out......

I lived in Seattle for 4 years and never saw Brandi until is past Tuesday night in Mobile with the Indigo Girls. I have seen the Indigo Girls many many times and love them however, Brandi rocked the house and truly stood out as the best part of the night. I thought she was amazing but it wasn't until last night in New Orleans that I was blown away! Her voice is indescribable! I was awestruck. I was lucky enough to be in the front row and meet her after the show. She is very gracious. I have seen many concerts throughout the years and met many artists including Madonna but Brandi takes the cake in my book as the most original and most talented of them all.

The only issue i had with this event was the lack of communication from the venue. I bought the tickets to the Culture Room but on the website it did not have an age limit to enter. On the website it actually says that "Age limit varies by performance" or something to that effect. I checked everywhere, i googled the number and called the Culture Room SEVERAL times and my anger increased exponentially each time i heard the voice recording stating upcoming shows and i have not to this day talked to an actual person who works there! Well i just showed up and prayed that they wouldn't check I.D.s........ Brandi Carlile and her band are so extremely talented it is almost unbelievable! They stated off the set with one of her new songs "Oh Dear". She, Tim and Phil (the twins), and drummer Allison Miller sang this song beautifully! She was extremely interactive with the audience, talking with them while introducing songs, and throwing guitar picks into the audience. She did one song completely unplugged and that is when it really hits how astounding and strong and earnest and beautiful her voice truly is. Aftrer the performance she went to her tour bus for a few minutes after letting fans know that she would be back out to take pictures and such. She came back out and took pictures with every single one of her fans who were waiting, she signed everything handed to her, and she made the effort to talk to everyone who came up to her and to let them know that she appreciated them coming out to watch the show. Basically she is amazing, down to earth, and the coolest chick on the planet!

I love Brandi Carlile, so it would be hard for me to NOT find any show I go to of her's amazing. We had excellent seats, the theatre was small, and the house wasn't even filled! I was shocked! She's an amazing artist. Her performances are always amazing. She does the full rock, acoustic, unplugged, and includes the audience. The only downside to the night was the audience.. which was rather dull. I think most people just wandered in off the street not knowing who she was. It was basically me, the two people who I was with, and like five other people who were reallyyyy into it. Nevertheless, I had a GREAT time. Also, it was a really small theater and it was really intimate. we were 14 rows back but we could see perfect.

Holy canole! Talk about an incredible performance. You think Brandi is amazing on CD? She's freaking ten times better live and she proves it when she starts off singing a capella or when she belts out "The Story" as if her vocal chords are her own electric guitar. And the emotion she conveys with her lyrics/tone of voice! Wow.

Wow! Where to start?!? Let me preface all of my comments by saying that I'm a mid- (OK late) 40's guy whose musical tastes range from KT Tunstall to Bruce Springsteen and from Green Day to Eric Clapton. This was the first time that I saw Brandi in concert, although I've been a fan for a few years now. I anticipated hearing that her voice would be much better live than it was on the recorded medium that I had only heard previously. What I wasn't prepared for was the distance of that gulf! I was absolutely hooked from the a capella (mandolins don't count) opening number of "Oh Dear" and from there things just got better. She is endearing with the voice of an angel and what I felt throughout the show that I was at a small intimate gathering of friends. Have you ever been invited to a party and after being there for a short time, you notice that there is a small group of people who are gathered around someone who is telling a story? Do you notice that those who have gathered will be alternately smiling, laughing and nodding in agreement? Then you make eye contact with the storyteller and in her smile and acknowledgement, you are invited into the circle and become part her audience. That is the essence of Brandi Carlile. An invitation and an acceptance - a pass to hear her talk about her life experiences, through conversation, lyrics and song. By the way, conversation is the precise thing that I miss and has dwindled over the years with Bruce Springsteen concerts...

Well I'm glad I get to write a review for Brandi's show because I am always up for telling people how amazing she is. She played two nights in a row (like at the MN State Fair). She sold out the first show the day the tickets went on sale and then booked the next night as well. Love her! Her voice is amazing. She does a song completely unplugged and it proves how loud she really can belt a tune. The lyrics written by her and the twins are deep and personal and they pull you right in. She is very personal and likes to tell little stories between songs and get the crowd laughing. She is very appreciative to her audience and you can tell she is really happy to be there playing for you. She always seems very excited to be back in Minnesota and says it feels like a second home to her. I could go on all day.... but if you have not seen Brandi and her band play yet, you need to do that! You will not regret it. The age group is very mixed. All ages seem to take to her music. People post a lot of good videos of her on youtube if you have not heard her music before.

As usual, it was a pleasure to see Brandi Carlile and the Hanseroth twins perform. This time it was an acoustic show; and they highlighted some different songs from the summer concert I saw with her full band. Very happy to see that they were just nominated for a Grammy. Brandi's voice is so strong and touching and the harmonies with the Hanseroths are CSN-like. The Bardavon is an excellent place to see a concert; and theater was built in 1869. Several times they stepped in front of the amplified acoustic sound and song and played without any mics or amps..and yet they were heard very well. The entire concert was so clear and beautiful...you could hear and understand every word and hear every note of their stellar guitar playing. To me, this is the best band currently playing. I highly recommend.

Stripped down, untethered, exposed, honest & completely connected to the audience. You just can't imagine a performance like this without seeing it yourself. In an age where technology is everywhere, Brandi Carlile & her loyal backing musicians the Hanesroth brothers have gone on a tour of very small acoustically-superior venues without mic's, without amps or PA, without electric guitars & effects, using lighting comprised mostly of on-stage Edison bulbs, lamps & hand-held spotlights. It's like nothing I've ever seen a professional group of musicians do. The lack of wires leads the group to suddenly leave the stage & wander the audience for several songs & the small intimate venue & lack of amplification allows Brandi & the band to exchange jokes with the audience and for the audience to hear all the on-stage conversation. Most impressive is the bravery of performing in a forum where there is no hiding: no vocal effects, no mixing boards, no loudness & noise to cover anything. Any wrong chord, any off-pitch harmony, any volume imbalance would certainly be heard, but there are none. Brandi fans get what they have come to expect: rich harmonies, great lyrics & Brandi's leading vocals that any fan knows can take you from delicate song bird notes to something grungy & angry in a single phrase. A must see for a Brandi fan!

If you're reading this review, then you already know how amazing all of Brandi's albums are. However, what you might not realize is how true to her sound she is live. It's like listening to her CD, but way better! Her voice is incredible, her band puts on an amazing show and really involves the audience. Her setlist also had a nice transition from slower to faster songs to get you hyped up and cooled back down. Not once did it seem that she was getting exhausted or showing any signs of tiring in her voice. She jumped around and gave it her all for the entire concert and I was pleasantly surprised at how long her set list actually was and there seemed to even be a few extra songs thrown in there from previous shows setlists I was able to find on the Internet. The crowd was so POLITE. There was no pushing and I was even able to leave the front of the stage to use the restroom (which had no lines!) and make it back without having to fight for my original spot. It was still there. This show was inside at Stage AE and the venue was great. It was clean. The line at the bar was only two people deep at any given time. Staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely can't wait to see more shows here! I would definitely see her in concert again!

Were the spirit of Johnny Cash put into a hundred pounds of clay you would have Brandi Carlile. You can't talk about Rock n' Roll without discussing its Country roots; and here, at the Orpheum last night, Brandi Carlile and her band put on a show that, with a tipped hat, was a Rock concert. Equally present was a genuine love Brandi's fans hold for her, which was thick in the air. The audience spent most of the night singing along and rocking in their chairs. By the time Brandi began to play The Story no one could remain seated any longer. Bursting from their chairs and rising to their feet, a thousand voices belted out their own best versions of The Story that had evidently captured them all. Among her peers in Los Angeles, Brandi is adored - and did not fail to meet every hope that she might bring her songs to life; there was an atmosphere of fun, love and intimacy that The Orpheum venue affords to those artists who make it there. I, for one, could feel the love. I left the concert a better person for having participated. Brandi and her co-writers, The Twins (Tim and Phil Hanseroth) have made a sound both in lyric and music that has touched the best part of us, and reflects what it is to live with an open heart, with faith and a genuine honesty about oneself. To my friends in Utah (Salt Lake) and Washington (Seattle), the band is heading your way. Don't miss the show.

Brandi Carlile is the real deal for REAL musicianship in today's world of auto tune. She writes, engages her crowd, has the voice that can move a mountain, or make you sob. And plays a cover song or two that will blow your mind. As for this show she covered Prince's Nothing Compares To You, the audience just gasped when the first lyrics came out. Great performer not to be missed.

This was the best performance of theirs I've seen this year (and I've seen like 4)! If you've never seen her/them live, you must! Would've liked performance to last all night though!!! I always leave anxious for another tour date to be announced! Check out cayamo and rock the boat xiii, but she really deserves her own boat!!! We XOBC!!

I saw Brandi in concert this summer, and I thought she was amazing then, but this week proved that even the best can be better! I absolutely loved the concert, and constantly recommend her music to my friends. Her music is so real, and absolutely relatable--anyone can listen to it and relate to her :) cannot wait to see another show!

I've been a long-time fan. This was my 4th Brandi concert. Her confidence level is astonishing, and her enthusiasm is incredible. I have been moved to tears by so many of her songs. She touches a common chord in all of us. It doesn't matter your background, your gender, your politics, your preferences. Brandi "gets" us. She is a treasured part of my life, that I am relieved to find resonates with so many others.

This show was exceptional!!! I am totally in love with the Chicago Theatre and anyone I've seen there has been great, but Brandi was amazing! She sung one song with no mic at all and her voice range through that place like a bell. It was the most authentic and pure thing I've ever seen an artist do. Go buy tickets to her show....right now! Seriously, stop reading...go buy!

My first trip to Red Rocks to see Brandi Carlile and I can't think of a better first show to see at such an awesome venue. Brandi has such a unique voice and wonderful band backing her up. The natural acoustics of the rocks made for an event like no other. A night I will always remember. Thank you Brandi!!!

Brandi Carlile is electrically charged with energy when she performs! That was especially true on Saturday night for her performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. She was completely "in the moment" and soaking up everything the summer crowd offered that night, including a spontaneous and beautiful 3-part harmony. She was thankful and performed "her dream" in a way that brought me to tears. I could not have asked for a better night under the stars at Red Rocks!

Brandi as always gave a great concert. The sound was a little loud for her, though- I've never had to use earplugs at her shows before, and I did Saturday. The band was kickin', and it was a really fun show. Ingrid Michaelson was really funny and totally entertaining. I loved the songs she chose, and she and her band were killer.

We've been fans of Brandi Carlisle for a wahile, back to the first disc. But for some reason, didn't see her live until recently. Twice last year & again Friday at Red Rocks. This was a performance NOT to be missed. As great as she is in the studio, she really shines on stage and there is no better stage (maybe in the world) than Red Rocks in Colorado. Friday night she somehow managed to raise the bar again, this time as the headliner. I'm sure someone's scatching their heads about what took so long. I think Brandi's days as an opening act are over. And the crowd was awesome. Quietly listening, then roaring their aprreciation when appropriate. Brandi Carlisle has been added to a short " DO NOT MISS" list of performers when they come to Colorado. She is quite simply an Amazing talent both as a composer & vocalist. Oh, and Brandi, thanks for Leonard Cohen!!!!

Brandi Carlile has such a wonderful presence. She is VERY humble, and closely attuned to her audience. After every couple of songs she would casually flick her guitar pick out into the audience without even drawing extra attention to it. Since I got to see her in 'The Acoustic Trio' tour (last night-February 8th at House of Blues Houston) she was only touring with 'The Twins' being Tim and Phil Hanseroth, and they had only their guitars. They are all SO talented and the tickets are worth MORE than I paid for them (full price, standing only). The voices you hear on the album are the voices you hear live, which is such a treat. True quality. Brandi Carlile is so talented. I hope she has a long standing career in music because I will forever continue going to her concerts. The concert was so amazing. Time just FLEW BY and it didn't even feel like a long enough show when they walked off. Brandi played almost ALL of her hits, and shared 3 new songs from their upcoming album. Sidenote: I think Brandi could yodel if she ever had the inclination. AMAZING voice, beautiful songs, and touching lyrics. A great way to close the day. I cannot recommend Brandi Carlile enough. GO SEE HER! I attached some pictures - please don't claim them as your own. And the two guys are Tim and Phil - the twins :-)

Everything about the concert performance was unbelievable. Her drummer was incredible, the twins can play the guitar killer enough for their own gig, the strings cut right to your inner heart. Of course Brandi just lit the venue up with her vocals and made every lyric hit home. Truly hope she returns to Louisville!

Playing the largest venue she has ever done in St Louis, Brandi Carlile is one of the best live performers out there. Combining a lot of her new songs with some older classics, it makes for a great show. Bringing out the opening bands to sing is also an added bonus

Brandi Carlile was fantastic, but what really impressed and surprised me was the opening act. The Secret Sisters blew my wife and I away; their voices were made for each other. Better yet, Carlile noticed how empty the venue was during their performance (due to the annoying practice of people skipping the opening act and climbing over everybody to get to their seats an hour into the show). She brought the Secret Sisters back on stage in the middle of her act when the venue was full, allowing them to play for a packed crowd. It's good to know the music isn't all that's good; Carlile and her band are fundamentally good people. A blast!

Brandi Carlile was on fire. She even said, "I can't believe this is my job." She and all the band members looked as if they were having so much fun. Her music is very emotional but can also be so upbeat and fun that every single person in the Peabody were on their feet singing, clapping, dancing. She had all the house lights go on and you could look around the entire venue and see everyone there having a great time. It also helps that I just love her and the twins and entire band.

This was my fifth time seeing Brandi and once again, she puts on an amazing show. It only gets better. I so enjoyed her variety of songs she plays and the stories that go with it. She is funny, talented and so honest. This particular show she opened with the Secret Sisters who were great as well, and they joined Brandi a few times too. The Hanseroth twins are not only fabulous singers but so talented instrumentally. I love the relationships they have with each other. Brandi talks about her sexuality, family and how that resonates in her music. She also belted out Led Zeppelin's " Babe I'm gonna leave you" with such passion and confidence, it was spectacular. The Chicago Theater is one of my favorites and any concert, show I have seen has been a great time. I will see Brandi again, she is a wonderful performer.
