On Da Reggae Tip

I had a great time. I love the line-up especially the surprise guests like Sanchez and Maxi Priest. I love how organized it was and the location. However, Tessani Chin did not show up and no one explained to us. Because of the amount of people and how tightly packed we were, I was unable to go to the bathroom or purchase a drink. My boyfriend had a great time too.

Great show this year! All the entertainers where awesome!

WONDERFUL SHOW, HIGH ENERGY, QUESS APPEARANCES. I'M not a person who listens to reggae regularly yet a had an awesome time..

It seem as if they rush the artist on their performance and all they have its about only 5-10 to perform, then some artist don't show up and they give you a lame excuse for it (such as, he missed his flight) Really???. It wasn't worth $75, I've been attending this show since the very firts one and it gets worse every year.

the show was good lots of great artists like Demarco, Serari, Ricky Blaze (big up Brooklyn) Barrington Levy, the Marley's and even suprise guests Busta Ryhmes and Dj Kahled. However the only downside is that the artists played like 20 seconds of a song then talked and even in the balconey it wsa packed like sardines. Overall the music was good and started my weekend off right.

G Great but disappointed that Elephant Man wasn't there!

It was my husband and I first time going and we will definitely go again. All the artists performance were great. Hot 97 put a great concert together.

The music was not so good and also a lot of people smoking weed in the place....too many interruptions from the singers and at the end Elephant man did not not show up in the event..I will never go again to this type

Obviously everyone is disappointed that Elephant Man didn't even show up. But we spent more of the night listening to Jabba shout out neighborhoods and islands than actually listening to music. Every artist seemed to want to get off stage ASAP. They did literally 30 seconds of each song and then ran off. Vegas gave us a few seconds of all of his hits and then quit. Jabba ran and chased him and asked him to do more, so he had the DJ play Black Eyed Peas and Taio Cruz? That was absolutely ridiculous. Mavado just stood there and let the crowd sing his songs, until he ran out of songs and had to bring in DJ Khaled and his crew to scream a bunch of dirty south hip hop songs that no one came to listen to. Serani actually did well and Busta was a nice surprise to an otherwise terrible concert.

Can't wait for the 2012 edition!! Was perfect but I put 4* only b/c Elephant Man didn't show up. Mavado, Serani, Mr. Vegas killed the stage.

I enjoyed every bit of the show. I just wish Elephant Man and Gyptian was there as promised, but the show was still awesome.

I love the music, but I need to hear it!!! Get a better sound check, artist need to perform more than 25-50secs of the song...then stop and someone yelling on the mic for 2mins...then 25secs of a song...repeat!!! Let those beautiful girls in the audience Slow Wind (or fast)...let us dance, play full songs, at least more than a couple secs. Overpriced for the product recieved!!

It was increadble, The performers was great and full f life I like that , The croud was lifely , I will go it again next year thanks.

Once again like every other year Hot 97 put on a extremely amazing show. All acts were awesome but Lady Saw took the show. Allison hinds did her thing.

It was just what I expected. Really enjoyed it. Danced all night.

All the artistes did very well, i came when Ricky blaze was performing, and from then i was on cloud nine with my husband...I even loved the special guess artists

The concert was great. It started on time, the performers were GREAT and had TONS of ENERGY. There were sooooo many acts. Thank you so much for having Shaggy! I love him! The only thing I would change were the length of some of the acts. I could tell they wanted to give us more but were under tight time limits.

I have gone to many a concerts but HOT 97 ALWAYS SURPASSES THEM ALL. Its easy to write a bad review but to write a GOOD REVIEW ppl seem to overlook. I HAD TO WRITE THIS REVIEW...THE CONCERT WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Coming from a Caribbean background I could not appreciate this concert more! HOT 97 U HAD ME AT ALLISON HINDS! ALL THE GUEST APPEARANCES...OMG IT JUST BRINGS JOY TO MY HEART! I CANT STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS CONCERT..IF UR A TRUE REGGAE FAN THIS IS THE ONE CONCERT U MUST ATTEND...AGAIN AND AGAIN! PLEASEE DONT STOP DOING THIS CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

This concert was really good. All the artists performed superbly. I felt I got my money's worth. I will definately be going next year.

It was the best concert ever! My daughter asked me to take her for her BDay she was turning 14on sat aug 31 so it was perfect! She was excited to see Nicki!!

I have been to everyone of the Hot 97 on the reggae tip. But this one was amazing, I love the addition of the calypso guess. Because its only right since its labor day wkend to have some SOCA... Overall the event started on time,ended on time..And it was not stop fun... I love you Machel Montano and Ele never dissappoints.

wow where to begin great choices of artists for this show , BUT Horrible Horrible sound , it was almost as if it was a low budget show . because it was so difficult to hear any of the artist perform it was almost hard to really enjoy the vibes that was given . don't think i would pay 80 bucks for something like this again

Music didn't sound right with the biggest performers, show finished at 930, when it was suppose to finish at 10.

Event was okay!!! Expected more, was not pleased with the final line up of artist.

Artists were rushed in their performances. Paid a lot less at met life and prudential for longer shows. next time give each artist more time to perform. liked the pier...enjoyed the open space not crowded. need to find a better way to get people out instead of walking 10 blocks the opposite way that we parked.

This is the worst concert I have ever attended: 1. the sound system was terrible, 2. they brought on quite a few special guest artists, and they sang one or two of their songs--the selector play the actual song(with lyrics), so in essence, the artist was lip syncing. Some of the scheduled artists also sang/DJ'd their scheduled songs by syncing.This is NOT acceptable. 3. The show was scheduled to finish at 10pm. By 9:35 Jabba (or whomever had the mike at that time) thanked us for attending. They should have juggled music until 10pm as advertised 4. The selector did a terrible job mixing for some of the artists. THIS WAS REALLY BAD, and I have attended On Da Reggae Tip in the past. I definitely wont again, especially if it will be held at the same venue (security indicated music was extra low b/c of the location)

The sound set up was bad. More should have been put into that. For such a large venue...there should have been some subwoofers off stage to carry the sound. It is important for the crowd to feel the music....it creates the vibe. I love Shabba...but putting him on after Beenie to close the show was a mistake. His songs are classic....nothing current....so the crowd knew he was closing...the anticipation was gone....which caused the vibe of the crowd to change.....they ended up not carrying the momentum thru Shabba's performance. It was painful to watch. Shabba deserved better from the crowd. Shabba should come on before Beenie. If shabba demanded the closing spot...be should have been talked out of it.

Hot 97 should seriously hire a decent sound man. Jamaican music has to be powerful bass driven and if the sound is weak, it ruins the music.

It was my first time going and it was amazing...it was a great crowd, great performances and awesome food. I wish there would've been more West Indian food but that's just a suggestion

I loved the susprise artists and the lineup. The venue on the water was beautiful and the music was perfect. The only issue is I was by the VIP section and the music was not loud enough.

The shows start time was changed the morning of the event from 7 pm to 5 pm. This alert was sent out only via email. I received the notice the day after. We missed half of the concert. Bad business. We were very disappointed. Sound system was low and they had a lot of technical difficulties. A lot of people in attendance were complaining of the same issues.

I really enjoyed the performers, the lineup was awesome. Everyone came out and gave a great performance and some even bringing out special guest. The venue was a nice pick however they should consider seating for a show 4 hours long.

Started on time and it was nice that it was outdoors. Also loved all the surprise guests. Very enjoyable from beginning to end

I honestly feel I've the event was just putt together.. u couldn't see the artist performing their song, I think who ever planned the event should of planned for a screen TV so people in the back can see the artist. I also feel like the host of the event really didn't rock the crowed. 80$ for this concert was unacceptable. I really didn't enjoy my self and I will not attend another reggae tip every again Thank You, Karen

While the performers and venue was great the overall sound system was terrible. Band was overlapping the DJ, the music system was awful loud base and low treble. Would never waste my money on a Hot 97 event again and I suggest you do the same!!! \u20a9

The artist that performed were great. I appreciated the venue but would have preferred the ballroom. The sound system was horrible. There were no speakers in the back to feel the music. The time the show started was not accommodating to the working class. Doors opened at five and the show started at 6p. No hard liquor was sold, only wine and beer.there should have at least had more of a variety if hard liquor wasn't going to be sold. Overall I give this concert two stars. I attend on da reggae tip every year and I was very disappointed. Iwas even more disappointed becase of the price I paid for tickets, when previous shows were cheaper and more enjoyable.

The artist lineup was lukewarm. The show is in dire need of a revamp. The first 90 minutes were the most exciting. After that, shit just got weird. Don't get me wrong.... I love shabba ranks, but I was damn near asleep by the end of his set. There are HUNDREDS of hot, RELEVANT reggae artists. If it's truly a matter of visa approval/sponsorship they need to plan even further in advance. This concert was NOT at all worth the price. Not sure if I will waste my money next year. I'll just go to Jamaica for Sum Fest instead. At least then I know I'll be getting my money's worth....

Great concert.....perfect venue; sound got messed up during a few performances but overall I really enjoyed the show.

The venue was great and I liked the selection of reggae artists. However, the show would have been better if the main artists were given more time to perform. Eliminating one or two of the intro or non-reggae acts would have made that possible. Shabba Ranks was the main attraction and could only sing a line or two from each of his hits. As soon as the crowd began to cheer in recognition of a song, the tune changed. Beenie Man's set had similar issues plus sound problems. This was my first Hot 97 reggae concert and I would not go again without major improvements in time management.

All Artist n Special Guest did a really nice job considering the sound was not synchronized. The DJs/Sounds in the back wasn't playing any music. The bass n mic wasn't loud enough. It felt like it was Sabotaged......Overall the artist did there best considering all the mishaps.

All the artist put on a good show. The energy in the. place was right!!! The weather, the people, the vibes!!! That's how to end the summer on that note.

Loved it! It was a very high energy show and the artists and surprise guests were very enjoyable. However, I do believe the cost was a bit high. I would suggest considering the cost to be $60. I also wish the performers spent more time on each song as opposed to switching so quickly between songs.

I flew to NY from NC to see Shabba Ranks perform live, because I never saw him perform live before. I was so disappointed in the sound quality of this show, it was horrible. I left I couldn't take it! I don't understand how a big production as this did not do a sound quality check before the artists came out on stage. You cannot play reggae music without base and at a low volume! EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!!!

This was my third year goin to this event and this was the worse one. We enjoyed it every single time but this year was an exception. The line up was great but the sound system was a dissapointment. We were standing by the control area and everyone was screaming put the music louder!! We were all excited that this year was outdoors and the fact that shabba ranks would be there made us want to go even more but we couldnt get into the music with all the issues they were having and to end at 9:30?. Felt like a show for a free concert not at $65 per ticket. Overall not what we were expecting with this type of line up and if its outdoors again next year we will skip it.

My least favorite of all the reggae tips, due to the sound being so low. The venue was beautiful, but the sound was poor.

I did not see the entire show,but was good. Saw most of the other artiste at other events, but this was the first time I saw Shabba and his performance was great. Also, got a taste of Maxi Priest...

First off the show was great; the small grip that I had, or what I didn't like so much was that the sound quality farther away from the stage was not good. When I got to about 150 away from the stage, the speakers sounded muffled. The sound quality for ODRT at past venues were great. Pier 97 wasn't bad, this year but it could better next year.

Show was awesome especially when shabby ranks hit that stage that was when the epicness and entertainment hit the peak of excitement.

Overall the show was amazing the line up was good a lot of excitement...surprised special guests...Shaggy great as always especially bringing out Neyo. Tessanne Chin I enjoyed your set and congrats again on winning the Voice... all the rest of the Artists were great....Beenie Man u nuh seh u a di King of the Dancehall/entertainer.. look forward to next year Hot 97

It was my first time going to an all reggae concert, I enjoyed myself but it ended early which wasn't a problem but the after party spot should've been at a bigger place, or the show should've lasted until 11

All performances were great, but I wished hot97 allotted more time for the concert...seems like a lot of the artists rushed through their performances. Another negative, the line for drinks was super long because there were limited bartenders, other than that great show!

It was ok, but wasnt feeling Movados perfomance cause his mic sounded muffled and you couldnt even hear nicky Minaj

Overall a great show. Glad it began fairly on time. Although youre limited with a small stage which makes it harder to transition acts, there should've been a more experienced and qualified sound/tech team to do their job. There were too many times I couldn't hear djs/artists voices! That was a shame! That forces the audience to pay attention to the background and ask questions like, "why the hell are there so many people/groupies on stage?" Some needed definitely needed improvements especially since I paid $80 for my ticket for the almost the same formatted show done every year.

Very disappointed a lot of artist did not show. Long breaks in between sets. Horrible sound. Worst concert yet.

I love this show, but they needed to turn up the air conditioning. It was unbearable and I wasn't even near the stage on the crowded floor. I stood near to the bar in the back to get some air circulation. I have been before and do not remember the place being so uncomfortable. The Marley's rocked the stage as usual, and Beenie Man but I believe the acts were as uncomfortable as the audience!

This has to be one of the best if not THE BEST concerts I've ever been to. From surprise guest to the atmosphere of the concert. It was simply amazing, I will definitely be going to this concert again next year. If you're a reggae enthusiast or even if you want to have a good time this concert is the place for you

The show was off the hook again. This is one of my favorite shows of the year. The intensity level is amazing and the artists were fantatic.

This event was the best reggae concert ever!! Each following act did better than the one before. Cham, Beenie and I-Octane killed it!! In that order! The host Jabba was great. Funny and did a great job of keeping the crow entertained! Great line up In a great sequence. Beeni Man never seems to get any older. Love him to death!! And don't let Allison Hinds' age fool you!! That lady still got it. It wasn't a hassle getting even with the huge amount of people that showed up. After the event ended people left quickly and the area was clear not too short afterwards. DJ Young Chow did a great job of warming up the crowd! Again best concert ever! Like Jabba said, we came in peace we left in peace!

great show artist didnt have enough time to preform

Overall I enjoyed myself. I love Beenie Man he know how to put on a show and the tribute to Buju, five stars!!!! The Marleys ripped the stage of course! I enjoyed all the performances but I personally could of did without Mavado! He's my favorite but he pissed me off..He didn't perform his best songs and then he bought Nicki Minaj on stage like why..I've never in my life seen anyone lip sync so hard before. Great concert though, just wish Mavado selected more songs.

Although Damian & Stephen Marley were awesome, but they only played for about 20 minutes. Very poor sound and lighting detracted from their performance and that of the other performers. The terrible audio made it very difficult to understand the vocals of any songs you did not know by heart. The lighting crew put the spotlight on the wrong people time and time again. The sponsors tried to pack too many different acts into too short a time. Way, way too much time was wasted between acts by self-indulgent DJs yammering about nothing -- including asking four or five different times (seriously) "How many people here tonight from _______? (fill in the blank with New Jersey, Trinidad, Staten Island, etc., etc., etc.). Was anyone else reminded of shouts of "Hello Springfield!" from a concert stage to draw cheers during a Simpsons episode? I had more than my fill of Hot 97 DJs. The station may have sponsored the event, but it's not much of a concert in my book if the MC/DJs take up more time than the musicians.

i was dissapointed that the concert ended early. The fire fete and other reggae concert in Toronto were much better and cheaper. All the artist was cut short.

I was upset the concert ended with no warning... other than that it was pretty good.

The Show was good but disappointed because Beenie Man was absent from the show. He was the reason I bought tickets. This was deceitful!

Half the artists on the roster weren't there. It was all a tactic to get ticket sales. I went to Sumfest 2012... It blew on the Raggae Tip Live OUT OF THE WATER!!! It's time for Hot 97 to choose another location for this venue... And fire their ENTIRE street team/event staff. Time to start over with a REAL artist line up. Elephant Man is played out... Always doing the same set worldwide. Climbing the speaker tower.... Old News!!! US Government... Please please please reinstate the visas of the REAL artists whose music/performances NEVER get old! Don't forget about the rising reggae stars of the new generation....
