My 2 1/2 year old son really enjoyed the show and I thought it was really entertaining myself. The duration was perfect with a 15 minute intermission. It was a family friendly environment and everyone was really nice and helpful. My only complaint was that the merchandise sold out fast. They did not have enough Buddy and Tiny stuff animals and every kiddo wanted one. We stood in line and by the time it was our turn they were completely sold out and it was an hour before the show. Overall the show was very entertaining and my son and I loved it. I recommend it to every family.

I felt the stage was too small to entertain the full cast of characters. The voice over for "King Dinosaur" was mostly unintelligible. Also, one of the cast members was absent. Buddy, Tiny and Shiny were on stage but Dawn was absent. The title for the show was "Buddy's Great Adventure" but the plot seemed to center around King Dinosaur instead.

I don't get all the negative reviews. At our showing every single kid AND parent was excited beyond belief! Kids are so enthralled with their friends Buddy, Tiny, Mr Conductor, etc, that they don't even notice the puppeteers. I, for one, am happy they were puppets and not people dressed as the characters; it made the characters much more "realistic" in terms of their proportions (can you imagine what the proportions of a person would do to Tiny's thin frame and neck?) In terms of the staging/special effects, they were no different than a normal play (flat , but very well constructed Dinosaur Train, light effects simulating the passing of the time tunnel). You should have seen the screams of excitement when each of these happened. The story came straight from one of the Dinosaur Train episodes (which, incidentally, happened to air in our area the day after we saw the show- my son felt like he was reliving the whole experience). Yes, there is quite a bit of singing, but it is part of the story, and everyone was singing along. Overall we had an amazing time! Even my husband and I enjoyed it. We want to go again, but they were only in the area for one day. I hope they bring it back. To this day, my 18-month-old applauds and jumps in excitement every time you mention "Dinosaur Train". She didn't do that before this show (and she had seen plenty DT episodes prior). My 4-year old son is still asking where is Buddy and why can't we go see him again. I would call that a successful show.

The dinosaurs were very lifelike, despite the fact that the audience could see the faces of the puppeteers. It seemed that the show was aimed at slightly older children. My 3 yr. old grandson got bored with the songs. The storyline wasn't sufficient to keep his interest.

This was a waste of $80 for 2 tickets. These were not actors in costumes. It was people dressed in black with full size puppets strapped to their bodies, making them move to a prerecorded track. The best was the giant dinosaur at the end with a girl's upper body inside the dinosaur. My 3 year old looked at me and said "Mommy that girl's head is up the dinosaur's bum!" Save your money. Better yet, go see Sesame Street Live.

The Dinosaur Train Show was very cute and well done. I took my almost 4 year old and he had a smile on his face the entire show. He watches Dinosaur Train on PBS. The characters kept the young children very interested. There were even children dancing in the aisles.

My son absolutely loved Dinosaur Train Live. Even I was singing along to all the songs from the show. It was a good time and I would def recommend it. The only negative thing I have to say is that it did start almost 30 mins late which is practically an eternity to a toddler.

Overall my husband and I gave this show one star for the following reasons: The show itself was repetitive and slow. They sang the same four songs two or three times. Most of the puppeteers performances were sadly lack luster (Not at all like the episodes, which are full of energy and exciting to both my young boys) Overall the structure of the preformance and puppeteering was painfully amateur in nature...We were very disappointed with the performance and expected so much more from a Jim Henson's production.

I took my 4 yr old autistic grandson, 15 mins late starting, played for 20 min and 15 min break then 20 min play. The kids were entertained during first half but lost interest during last. The puppeteers should have been all black suited, they were distracting

We were very excited in seeing the Jim Hensen puppet show, but the ruse began with the use of his name to sell very expensive tickets for an unimaginative show! Shame on the producers. Poorly done, this overated puppet show was comprised of 6 actors in dirty black clothes, harnessed in visible mechanics parading back and forth on the stage waving their hands in a feeble attempt to entertain the crowd. Our kids were so bored they asked to go home several times. We stuck it out only to see a giant pink Dino for the painful but quick ending. Don't waste your money! Save it for Disneyland or Knottsberry farm, Cirqe du Soleil, Disney on Ice, they at least have professional productions that are far better than this mess.

very cool show, just the right length for small children. Didn't know what to expect. Initially life-size-puppeteers was distracting, but became interesting once got used to it. Neat to see the puppeteers expressions and puppets movements synched.

Had higher expectations for this. thought would be more lively and more singing/dancing to engage the kids. Story line was slow and what was with the "elvis" king -- not something that the kids would relate to at all!

Very dissapointed with the show.... Why the a actors controlling the dinos did not have a their face and hNd cover was unprofesional.... The whole show your starring at the goofy actors face expression like if they are a part of the dinosaur world.... I have been to a few Sesame Street and yo gabba gabba live shows and this show doesn't come close to comparing them . Worst show of the year I would get a refund if it was possible but I will never go to another dinosaur train live show. I heard kids complaining around me " what are the people doing to buddy" "why are thy on stage they are not apart of dinosaur train". I would recommend dinosaur train to get real customs and not large size puppets.

Horrible show! I wish I can get my money back! What a waste! The dinosaurs have people holding them, so kids realize they are not real. It's like playing with stuffed animals but in bigger size. And mostly singing songs so it's musical show. Very annoying.

Could have been SO much better. Set design was non-existent. Wish they had played to a child's imagination with creative and magical sets. Too much dialog also. Was boring for a 2 year old and unbearable for a 30 year old. Makes me think I should start my own children's play productions...

We were expecting a musical performance that Jim Henson would have been proud of. NOT! The 4 and 5 year old boys we took were engaged for about 5 minutes and you could see the anticipation in their faces, but then you could see the disappointment and then boredom. We left at the break. The boys were happy to leave.

The content of the show is barely an hour long but they inserted a nearly half hour intermission for the obvious purpose of making kids see all the toys and crap for sale in the lobby and getting parents to buy some. Meanwhile, the entire event went on much longer than it needed to, which was difficult with a 3 year old. My son spent the entire intermission asking when the dinosaurs were going to come back, which was pretty hard to explain and, more importantly, totally unnecessary.

My 2 1/2 year old grandson watches the TV show and likes live events so I bought the tickets. The stage was very poorly lit. There was way too much dialogue and not nearly enough action, dancing and music . The first half was ok and my grandson enjoyed it. But when we came in after intermission and the show started introducing a large T Rex with an Elvis voice singing a slow and cumbersome song he said DONE. This show cannot hold a candle to Sesame Street Live or any Disney show or Power Rangers, etc that I've been to both with my own children and my grandson. Disappointing.

This was the worst production I've seen in a long time. Very low budget. There was nothing visual other than puppetry and a train. The entire show was a sing along to the dubbed in music. No bang for the buck and not enough entertainment for the children. Very disappointed in the lack of "fun" and "child interaction" that was described in the original write up.

We really enjoyed this show. We read some of the other reviews and thougth that this was going to be costumes that the people were in. We were suprised to see that they were large puppets. The only thing I had a problem with is that alcohol was bing sold to people in this show. It was a children's show and I do think it should not have been allowed. I do realize there are other shows going on at the same time and do not have a problem with the theater itself selling the alcohol, it should not be allowed in this particular show.

This seemed like a cheap way to cash in on kids' obsessions with Dinosaur Train. The story was almost identical to an already produced episode. There was nothing new or educational about the program like there usually is in the show and my 4 year old was bored by intermission and asked to go home. The puppets looked amazing, but the actual puppeteers were extremely distracting and at one point my four year old actually asked why there was a man's head up a dinosaur's bottom. We would definitely not attend or recommend this show to anyone.

Though actors behind the puppets were dressed in black, even my 4 year old granddaughter "saw them" above and behind the puppets. Obviously to dress as they did in Luon King is too expensive; we would have preferred they totally be in the puppet's costume , like Barney. After all, they mimed to a recording!

This was a wonderful show for our family (2 1/2 year old, wife, and 5 month old)! It was just the right length (with a 10 minute intermission), had all our favorite songs, the puppet costumes were great (especially King Cryolofisaurus). the video screen and live action worked great together, and the time tunnel scenes were fun to be 'in.' Our only two critiques would be that the people actors at the beginning were a little over the top and lasted a little long, and a few of the voices were not the real thing (Buddy and Don). However, we really enjoyed The Conductor and the rest of the crew! Thanks for a great family outing. :)

I had read the reviews for the show and they didn't seem positive. However, I wanted to expose my 2 year old to the theatre so I got tickets. It was wonderful! Someone said the costumes were distracting but they didn't really bother me. Actors are dressed in black and they are holding the dinosaurs and moving with them. Both my daughter enjoyed it. It was about 90 minutes long with a 10 minute intermission. A great way for children to learn about the theatre.

My son loves Dinosaur Train. He watches it all the time. Our DVR is full of it. While I realize why the intermission was hard to keep his attention through and he got restless. He was fine with the show even though I didn't realize it would be more like puppets he enjoyed it. The loud confetti cannons at the end were a surprise and since he is petrified of loud noises it did scare him so it didn't leave the best of impressions. Possibly giving a warning this will happen at the end may be warranted.

This performance was a great addition to the Dinosaur Train my grandchildren have been so excited about on Public Television. The "puppeteers" were so energetic and made the dinosaurs come to life. The actors (paleontologists) were dynamic and involved the audience. The scenery for the performance was very nice and stage managers/handlers moved them around in a very fluid way. Would highly recommend this program.

It was very enjoyable, for my son and me. I was very disappointed at the quality of this show put on by Henson Prod. The dinosaurs were all done by puppets and you could see the individuals who puppeted them. The storyline was almost directly from one of the TV episodes. There were way too many "paleontologists" who were used to basically elongate the show to a barely acceptable length. The kids did enjoy it, so I can't take that away from it, but had I known the quality of the show, I would not have spent $125 for 5 tickets to it.

I bought tickets in the "pit" not realizing we were sitting almost on the stage...won't make that mistake again and on top of that the "pit" tickets were quite a bit more expensive than other seats I had looked at. Also, the show itself was highly enjoyed by my 3 year old, but parents need to take a book or just enjoy watching their child which is what I did. I loved her reactions to the dinosaurs especially "King" because he was HUGE! Maybe due to the fact that we were sitting right under the puppeteers caused my distractions because I found myself watching the puppeteers more than the puppets. My hubby and I were thankful Duke Energy Center offered adult beverages! ;)

I took my 5 year old granddaughter to see this show and she loved it! We didn't find the puppeteers to be very distracting even though they are visible behind the puppets. In fact I enjoyed watching how they maneuvered the puppets. Because the puppets are large, it was easy to see them even from a back row. We recommend this show!

We were surprised to see the puppeteers, rather than costumes being worn as in Sesame Street productions. But the children didn't seem to mind it at all. Keep in mind the general age of your audience and shorten the long discussions and explanations; and if a technical difficulty is experienced, have a back-up plan - or at least have one of the dinosaurs come on stage with music, etc., to keep kids interested. A lot of people left during this time.

We took our 16 month old granddaughter to see Dinosaur Train Live and it was completely forgettable and disappointing. We were expecting live-action actors in full costumes of the Dinosaur Train characters and instead got puppets of the characters operated by people who were completely visible. They didn't even bother to have blacked-out facial coverings giving an entirely unrealistic performance. One of the characters had technical difficulty and the operator jumped out of the mechanism in full view of the audience. They didn't even bother to close the curtains while moving the character off stage.

I would not recommend this to anyone. I brought my four year old. I think it is too much for a two or three year old to sit through, but too low rent for a four year old. So..who was the target audience exactly?? There was barely a performance. The show (music and voices) was all pre-recorded (outside of the first intro song) and there was very little investment in stage props. The script was awful..it was a patched together previously aired TV episode...we knew exactly what was going to happen. I expected much much more. I am such an optimistic person...I stop to smell the roses...but honestly this was a waste of time and money.

If your child is between the ages of 3 to 6, I think this would be a good show. When we bought the tickets for my 3 year old, I envisioned full size characters with people in them. I realized once the show started, that wasn't feasible. There were puppeteers with puppets attached to them. I was disappointed that not all the main characters weren't part of the show (the dad and Shiny wasn't part of the show), and that the story line was a previously televised episode. The screen in the back was too small. However, the voice over and the dancing was very cute. The intro would have been better if it were done in character instead of the fake paleontologists. Overall, my son enjoyed it but not sure if were worth the cost. Oh, it would also have been better if the characters came out after the show for a photo shoot.

Let me start by saying my two yr old was entertained. For the money I paid we had great seats but the show was shabby. The people walked around with the characters attached to them and could clearly be seen thus, cheating the viewers on the experience. It would be helpful if they wore black masks to cover their face and neck. I liked singing the song with my little girl. We loved seeing "King" but he malfunctioned and broke in the middle of the show. Bottom line, the quality of the show was not equivalent to the ticket prices. I expected a better show for the cost. My two year old had a great time though.

The show was over all entertaining, however there was a malfunction during the performance with one of the characters KING. The children began to get a little restless they should have had some sort of entertainment to keep the children occupied. The food was also over priced for a kid show. Chips were 3.50.

I was looking forward to a grand experience for two months with the Dinosaur Train and was so disappointed by the presentation. The characters were big puppets, really Jim Hensen? The puppeteers were so obvious. Of course, the malfuction of "King" couldn't be help, but entertainment should of been a back up plan. Lastly, the content of the show was an exact repeat of a story line in season 2...It could of been new and adventurous.

Took by 3 grandsons and their Moms/Dads as a family treat to celebrate one grandson's birthday. They had a great time! The puppet concept was very unique - my 5 yr-old grandson was intrigued. Timing was just right. I do want to mention that there were some very small children there - not even 2 yrs-old. While they may be captured by the cartoon on TV, there was a lot of crying and parents having to get up and take their children out of the theater.

The show was just OK. The dinosaurs were large marionette puppets with the puppeteers behind them dressed in black. The show was billed as a stage performance with a video backdrop. The backdrop was tiny and provided minimal enhancement. The puppeteers were fine, all the speaking and singing was pre-recorded so the puppeteers were simply providing movement. At one point the large dinosaur (King) that had electrical assistance (because it was so large) malfunctioned and the show had to be stopped for about 15 minutes. Clearly a fluke, but it was a bit of an unwelcome surprise. I would not go to this show again if I had the chance and would instead spend money on the circus or perhaps a larger production kind of show.

Too short and not enough new content. Despite the performance problems, the show was light on entertainment and education.

I took my young daughter and her friend to see Dinosaur Train and was disappointed. The start of the show was very slow. Once the "dinosaurs" appeared on stage, that was a disappointment too. I expected people in dinosaur costumes. Instead it was giant dinosaur "puppets" with people dressed in black behind them, controlling their motions. It was very distracting. Half the time I was watching them instead of the dinosaurs. To keep the kids attention, I think the show should have been more fast-paced. It wasn't very interesting, so we left at intermission. Too bad.

I was very distracted by the people operating the dinosaurs from behind. There was also trouble with the King dinosaur during the production and we had to take about a 10 min. pause. Not great.

I was a little thrown off that it was a puppetry show. I don't think it was bad, but it was kind of hard to pay attention to the "dinosaurs". There was even a child (probably 4) behind me who said, "mommy why i that lady holding on to the dinosaur?".

Set design was pitiful and the venue was way too big for the performance provided. It was an over-hyped puppet show.

This was the first "performance show" for our 2.5 year old and it was great! I've seen other reviews complain about the puppeteers being a distraction, but it didn't seem to bother him and I was too busy watching his reaction to everything to even notice. And yes, there are parts where it got a little slow for a toddler, but that's when I pulled a distraction out of the toy bag (dinosaur, book, iPhone, etc) to keep him occupied until he got interested in the show again. Adults just need to keep in mind that this is a children's show, and they seemed to enjoy the music, the life-sized puppets, and the story. Note- the performance is an hour and fifteen minutes (1 hour show plus 15 minute intermission) and PLEASE TURN THE FLASH OFF OF YOUR CAMERA PHONE WHEN TAKING PICS DURING THE SHOW. The ushers did their best, but it was really rude of people in front of us to take pictures of their kids during the show and thus blind us with their flash.

Great show! My 2 year old really seemed to enjoy as did most of the kids that were in my immediate area. The visible puppeteers didn't seem to be a problem for any of the kids.

My 4 year old had the best time watching the live puppet show. She kept trying to get the attention of her favorite character Tiny. It was a very entertaining version of The Dinosaur Train.

Was very surprised and disappointed that the dinosaurs were just puppets and that the puppeteers were completely visible the entire show. My son kept asking me who those people were and why were they there. The show should have made that clear up front.

We found the puppeteers very distracting. We thought the characters would be dressed up in costume, like a Disney character. My son wanted to leave at intermission. There was no need for a break in the show , it was very hard to get my child settled(along with the rest of the theater's children) to have to take a break just after 30 minutes., Maybe it was just so they ( the venue)could sell pop and snacks and t shirts.

I gave this event an average rating because of 2 things: 1) the venue seating wasn't ideal for a preschooler show. where an adult sitting in front of a child was blocking their view on the main floor. Not sure about the upper levels, but for short people the seats were not angled well. 2) I was a little let down with the puppetry. I didn't know what to expect, but I was immediately disappointed at the lack of technology. We may be a little jaded after seeing Sesame Street and Disney live shows, however my 2 year old was ecstatic to see it anyway.

the show was dumb....they had the characters being operated by people you could see the entire time. I think it could have been done better for the money they charge. My son kept asking who the people were making the dinosaurs move

I think my child being four years old was just bored with this show. She wasn't paying attention and kept wanting to play with the ushers at Hershey Theatre. I think it was because she could see the people operating the puppets. It wasn't until "King" came out that my daughter started to pay a little more attention and I think that was because she couldn't see an actual person operating the puppet.

Took my 3 year old and was expecting people in costume, not poor looking puppets. Even my toddler was asking why there were people behind the dinosaurs. Acting was so horrible, my daughter was bored within a few minutes. We left at intermission and felt like the show was such a huge waste of money.

We took my 3 1/2 yr old son and 9 yr old daughter. It was a little young for my daughter, but my son was riveted and is still talking about it days later. The show was the perfect length---it ended just as my son's attention began to drift. We loved the singing and the audience participation. The only criticism I have is that they did not have enough stuffed animals to sell. They ran out of Buddy dolls before intermission. Thankfully we bought the last Tiny, but there were a ton of disappointed kids. Boo hoo!!

The dinosaur characters are not self-contained, but are manipulated by handlers with black clothing. One handler had pigtails, which was distracting as they stuck out from her head. There is no follow through with getting the audience to participate after spending too much time prepping The storyline is one that is on TV; couldn't the writers come up with a new storyline?!!! In spite of this our 5 year old did like the show, but from an adult perspective, it was a disappointment.

My 5 year old had a great time. The show is a perfect length and did not really need the intermission (but I guess kids = small bladders = more bathroom breaks!). There is lots of music and dancing. Everyone had a great time.

I don't usually write reviews; however, since this was such a disappointment I felt I should to save others the money. My kids were all excited to go see the Dinosaur Train - they couldn't wait! When we got there and the show started, it was actual puppeteers instead of people in costumes. My kids kept asking me, "How come they aren't in costumes?" It was very distracting because the puppeteers were not all covered so you saw all their facial expressions. You found yourself watching them instead of the actual puppets. The puppeteers did do a good job at moving the characters around the stage but it was still distracting.

Story was ok. Puppeteers were intentionslly distracting, which was weird. Lighting was horrible. Wish this was done more like Disney does the Under the Sea show with blacklights so you can't see the puppeteers.
