The Paramount theatre backstage was the perfect venue for John. In that intimate setting his stoires and guitar mastery were close up and personal. He is as relevant today as he was when he was knocking about New York clubs honing his craft.

The lovin spoonful was a great band but after seeing John Sebastian, I can understand why he was playing alone. He played for barely 90 min and talked though most of it thinking he was charming the audience with stories of his hay day. He obviously thinks very highly of himself and took every opportunity to brag about his life s accomplishments and conquests. His voice is shot and barely played one song start to finish without taking a break to talk. He even insulted someone in the audience, accusing him of being on the internet....when half the audience was on their phone. I no longer believe in magic!

As a fan of most all the happy music produced by the Lovin Spoonful in the 1960's that I enjoyed as a teenager growing up in Brooklyn, I looked forward to seeing John Sebastian perform. I was amazed to see 1/3 of a 300 seat venue in Norfolk Connecticut empty at show time, but by the end of the show, I understood why. Although it's to be expected that a man in his 70's shouldn't sound as he did in his 20's, it was the performance that was disappointing. John played for barely 90 minutes and spent most of that time relating life stories with self-praise as the main theme. His voice is gone and so is the magic! He didn't even bother to play Summer in the City!

What a great evening with a great performer. If you want to go back to teen years for a few hours go see John Sebastian especially at Bethel Woods. Great songs, stories ,harmonica and even whistling . Having fellow guitarist Arlen Roth added even more talent to the evening. The only thing missing to complete the transport back in time was the autoharp and some tie dye!

Did not play many of his old time hits...too much talking about the old days ... too many songs I did not know. Not what I expected. Played 1 1/2 hours...not worth the ticket price.

We were disappointed with the concert because John Sebastian's singing voice was terrible. That is too bad, because he was very likeable. John's guitar playing was very good and his stories were interesting and entertaining. The concert lasted about 90 minutes, and he spent 45-60 minutes talking, not playing. John played several hits (Nashville Cats, Do You Believe In Magic, You're A Big Boy Now), but did NOT play the following hits: Darling Be Home Soon, Summer In The City, Rain On The Roof, Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind, Jug Band Music, She Is Still A Mystery, Didn't Want To Have To Do It, Six O'clock, Younger Generation, Welcome Back.

I almost didn't go to this show, but I am very glad I did! The between-song storytelling was well worth the admission, and all of the songs performed were very well selected. I grew up listening to The Lovin' Spoonful (courtesy of my dad), and I was not disappointed by the song selection (about half Lovin' Spoonful songs) - I also enjoyed most of the non-Spoonful songs. It was a truly one-man show, and John Sebastian has a very engaging & entertaining stage presence. Highly recommended!

John entered the stage in a beautiful venue and was just his normal self as expected. His stories about the songs he sang tonight were just as entertaining. First time I saw him with the spoonful was in 1965 At Kingston college in PA. they were the opening act with the beach boys. I have been a fan ever since. It was nice to see John again in his natural element. He was 'Beautiful' one of his favorite phrases. Back at you John! You deserve it.

He was very entertaning. His voice although a little weaker still maintains his distinct tone. All of the old favorites were performed and many memories were stirred.

John was excellent. He is one heck of a great guitar picker, storyteller, comedian, and musician. He is a real joy to listen to and I love that he encourages audience participation.

IF YOU'RE GOING ON STAGE YOU BEST BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A GOOD SHOWING AND NOT WHAT SEBASTIAN DID LAST SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 2016 IN FT. LAUDERDALE. IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE THAT HE IS IN HIS 70'S BUT HIS VOICE IS SHOT, EXCEPT FOR THE TWANG. HE SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE IN THE PAST AND MOST OF ALL IN BETWEEN SONGS HE TALKS AND TALKS AND TALKS AND TALKS AND TALKS AND TALKS TO NO END PRACTICALLY BRINGING THE AUDIENCE TO A COMA WAITING FOR THE NEXT SONG. WHAT WAS THE FINAL STRAW FOR ME WAS AN HOUR INTO THE SHOW. THERE WAS A LADY IN THE FRONT ROW THAT WAS USING HER CELL PHONE TO TAKE PICTURES OF SEBASTIAN. SHE DID NOT HAVE A FLASH ON AND WAS NOT ANY INTERRUPTION TO HIM OR ANYONE SITTING BEHIND OR NEXT TO HER. HE FIRST MADE A COMMENT IN GENERAL TO THE WHOLE AUDIENCE AS TO HIS DISLIKE OF CELL PHONES IN A CONCERT USING A CYNICAL PHRASE. HE SANG A SONG AND WHEN HE BEGAN TO ENDLESSLY TALK BEFORE THE NEXT SONG HE STEPPED OUT OF CHARACTER AND TOLD THE SPECIFIC LADY "THIS TIME I AM NOT BEING FUNNY OR KIDDING; I WANT YOU TO PUT THAT AWAY". THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE LITTLE AUDIENCE THAT ATTENDED WERE ALL OVER 60 YEARS OF AGE AND FAR BEYOND. THIS IS AN AUDIENCE THAT IS NOT USED TO HAVING CELL PHONES IN A FORMAT OF A CONCERT JUST AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT BOTHER ANYONE WHICH IN THIS CASE IT DID NOT. SEBASTIAN IS FORTUNATE THAT TWO MUCH MORE SO OVER ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE WENT TO SEE HIM TO MAKE SUCH DEMANDS OPENLY TO HUMILIATE A FAN THAT ATTENDED THIS MISERABLE PRESENTATION. WHEN THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ABOUT TEN PEOPLE GOT UP AND LEFT INCLUDING MYSELF AND MY WIFE. MEETING OUT ON THE LOBBY WE ALL AGREED ON THESE POINTS AND ONE MADE A STATEMENT AS TO "NOT COMING TO SEE A CONCERT WHERE A CPA LOOKING OLD MAN BARELY COMES ON STAGE AND SINGS IN A COMPLETELY OFF KEY VOICE". FOR SOMEONE THAT I HAD BEEN WANTING TO SEE FOR YEARS, I WAS NOT ONLY DISAPPOINTED BUT ANGRY FOR HIM HAVING THE AUDACITY TO PRESENT HIMSELF SOLELY ON THE LEGACY OF HIS NAME AS HOW HE IS TODAY IS NOTHING NEAR WHAT HE WAS BEFORE.

If you want to spend a great night of Lovin Spoonful memories and smiles with other baby boomers, this is it. John Sebastian is a fabulous story teller as well as a musician. So much fun walking down memory lane with him, listening to stories of his early career, what inspired certain songs... We never miss him when he is in the area. Guess he likes the warm weather when it is soooooooo cold in Woodstock. Might be nice to hear him play with his son as well. Thank you for making us believe that we are forever young... what a day for a daydream or two or three...

Although John's singing voice has left him, his guitar playing & story telling made the evening a wonderful experience. If you see the show be sure to put away your cell phone or John will ostracize you publicly.

John's voice is not what it used to be (I knew this beforehand). But, he still provided a wonderful evening filled with song & banter about his life & music. Just John and 2 guitars! We enjoyed this unique concert a lot!

John Sebastian's still got it. A great guitar player and an awesome story teller. He played all his hits and even with no back ups or rhythm tracks etc. his tunes filled the room. The Amaturo Theater is an intimate venue and there are no bad seats. Some jerk in the first row kept using his cell phone and Sebastian told him to put it away at least 4 times. So if you go see him, no cell phone. I was and still am a big fan and Sebastian delivers!

Played several great hits and did a great impromptu song. Before and after every song he added very funny stories giving each song new meanings. I would go again for sure if the opportunity arises.

This was a pleasant evening listening to a '60's musician tell stories and sing his songs. Sebastian's voice is nowhere near what it was, and he knows it, so he avoids tunes that could challenge his voice now. He compensates by telling funny, self effacing stories about himself and his music, and his guitar playing is strong as ever. This is a guy who had mega hits with the Lovin' Spoonful, fine solo albums , and played for half a million people at Woodstock, yet he genuinely thanked his audience for coming to see him, and signed albums and was happy to talk to anyone interested after the show.

Show was terrific. Facility was nice but cramped. 26 seats in a row with only aisles on the ends. Space between rows is tight. Difficult for some seniors.

Very entertaining show with lots of memorable songs. Sebastian no longer has that singing voice, but more than makes up for it with his guitar playing, story telling and bubbling personality.

Our first visit to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. I was not familiar with the name John Sebastian. Lovin' Spoonful sounded vaguely familiar. In all honesty, we only attended the concert because we knew the artist whose work was being displayed in the lobby. But John S surprised us. He can play that guitar. Once he played them, I did remember several of the songs. And his talk in between tunes kept us amused. Five stars or whatever the top rating is at PVCH. We'll be back.

I have followed John Sebastian from his time with The Lovin' Spoonful and even saw him at a local festival in Maryland with his jug band. While his voice is no longer strong, h is sense of humor, stories and guitar playing made this a memorable event. I felt like he was talking and playing to me. Hearing about how some of the songs were created was fun.

Jonn Sebastian was in excellent form. The interplay between these two veteran musicians is magical. The set list must have pleased everyone in attendance. A great variety of songs from his solo career, Lovin' Spoonful, blues standards and plenty of wonderful stories. Jimmy is a wonderful guitarist and singer and added much to the evening. Don't miss these guys!

Very talented musicians! I couldn't have asked for a better venue for this concert. The acoustic properties of the Bethel Woods Museum/Auditorium were excellant for this type of music. The performers were genuine in their love of the music they were playing and of the apreciation of the audience. It was like having them perform in your living room on a personal basis. I would recommend this type of venue to anyone who appreciates talented musicians performing live on a small scale. I look forward to more of these type of concert venues at Bethel Woods!!

Like strawberries and cream, pinot grigio and grilled sea bass or lobster and drawn butter, John Sebastian and David Grisman are deliciously perfect together. The acoustical harmonies of John's guitar and David's seemingly effortless pickings on the mandolin had me toe-tapping and felt like a warm blanket of folksy comfort that I remember from back in the late 60's. This was, indeed, a special night of music that had me begging for more, in a venue that was intimately warm and welcoming. The complimentary glass of wine was the cherry on the sundae.
