Lang Lang started with a crisp performance of Bach's Partita No.1 in B-flat Major. This was followed with a highly emotional beginning to Schubert's Sonata in B-flat Major, D.960. It was sensitive, agile and powerful. The Chopin Etudes were played with vim and vigor, as well as passion. Lang Lang's relaxed style led to some incredibly gentle moments, then he'd be back forcefully with fff extravaganzas. This was a wonderful performance. There are two places for improvement: I wanted two tickets - I had to buy two single tickets in two separate transactions - the Ticketron software doesn't seem to be able to say we have two tickets left at different price points and in different parts of the house. The program notes are wanting - no BWV number on the Bach, no description of the music. I heard a critic on the radio saying the general public don't want to hear when a piece modulates from one key to another. But that's what makes a concert meaningful - explaining the different movements of the Partita, describing how the sonata form is used in the Schubert, for example is interesting. Some people next to me did not go to classical concerts regularly - so a good explanation of the composers, their style, the structure of the music would have helped them.

Lang Lang, as usual, was magnificent on this solo piano performance. The audience, however, is awful. For one thing, many of them coughed and make a lot of noise while Lang Lang was performing. There were audience who were as young as under 6 years old, making one wonders how they would be able to appreciate the music that is to be played. Many audience also went in and out the seat during the piano playing.

The Lang Lang 101 Pianists concert on Sunday was truly amazing to watch and listen to. Where else would you be able to hear 101 pianists on one stage playing at the same time under the direction of one of the world's greatest pianists? Lang Lang deceives accolades for this wonderful concept of gathering a group of talented piano students of different ages and levels and bringing them together in this way. Bravo!

Probably the most unforgettable night! His music and his technique is just incredible. And at the end I even got his autograph which I'm gonna cherish forever. Only problem is that they didn't decorate the stage for him and he didn't even receive a microphone so when he had to say something to the audience, he would have to cup his hands and shout.

This show was so dynamic. The listener was drawn into the music by Lang Lang's masterful talent and his showmanship. Very emotional. Lang Lang leads this audience through the slower hypnotic parts of the music to a transition into the intense complex runs of music. The listener is left in awe. Perfection.

Beautiful talent, matched with the expressive, engaging but gentle personality of Lang Lang. A polite & gracious presence onstage, and always a pleasure to listen to. The evening was more than just his amazing talent; it was his whole person.

Lang Lang exudes nothing but total confidence. His playing is fluid and the music comes easy to him. How lucky, he is! He is the "Horowitz" of China. But therein lies the problem. Lang Lang becomes more important than the music. No regard for the composer's intentions and style whatsoever. Hence, a very shallow style of playing. For example, he "milked" the second movement of the Liszt concerto, so much so that one had to wait and wait ...for the next note. It did not sound Liszt-like at all. In comparison, the Russian pianist Kissin, is a prodigy in the truest sense. His playing is a cut above Lang Lang's. Also, the Chinese pianist, Yundi Li, has a much better style of playing. Very sensitive to sound, and obeys the composer's intentions. Wish Lang Lang could keep his arrogance aside and be sincere in his playing.

It seemed like pure emotion was at work; yet he was able to produce excrutiatingly difficult and beautiful music, with seldom a glance at the keys! How is that possible! But it was! The orchestry played Mussarsky's "Pictures" beautifully too. Overall it was an outstanding, unforgettable evening.

I didn't realize this is solo piano concert and thought it would be accompanied by an orchastra. Lang Lang was faily good except the selection for the first half wasn't great. It started really slow. But the last half the concert, the selection was better. He ended the concert was a high note. Overall, i would say it didn't meet my expectation. I expected to see "the hottest classical music performer", but just didn't get it. I have seen Lang Lang's other performance on Youtube, which was more dymamic. What I saw was just average piano performance. I'm sorry that I went.

Lang Lang showed his extensive range of style at this performance. But the truly memorable portion of the evening was when he played a series of etudes by Chopin. I had a grin on my face the whole time.

I very much enjoyed Lang Lang's piano concert. He was great! The California Theater is beautiful and our seats were good. I like how this theater is small compared to the Performing Arts very large building.

My family enjoyed the concert very much. San Jose Is a better choice than San Francisco for my driving and parking. Unfortunately, we could not stay after the concert to get LangLang's autogragraph, because the next day was a school day for my 4th grade son and the line for the autograph was long.

I thought Lang Lang was the main feature but it was actually the orchestra that played more than he did. I wish they chose a piece where Lang Lang had more solos but it was still an honor to hear him play. The orchestra overpowered him at times and couldn't hear his playing but overall, he was amazing. Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lang Lang was superb as expected, but the accomodations were not what was anticipated. The concert hall was attached to the university and was similar to an auditorium. I was expecting a large and state of the art performing arts center, especially for the price tag attached to the tickets. Lang Lang's performance was duration of about 30 minutes and the remainder was orchestra. When the tickets were purchased, we were under the impression that the entire performance included Lang Lang. Overall, he was outrageous, but the event was not.
