Definitely a great experience. Even the music I wasn't aware of, and the games I hadn't played or haven't played yet, were more than enjoyable to hear and watch. I loved the interaction between songs, and the crowd interaction too! We may not go every time, but we certainly would love to go again :)

Nobuo Uematsu is in a small handfull of contemporary composers that could be argued as being the greatest of our time. Unfortunately, John Williams will probably have more support as he has the backing of Hollywood and the like- but as any fan of the Final Fantasy series knows, Nobuo is up there with him, regardless of how many are familiar with his music. I attended both Friday and Saturday nights, and the shows were different enough to make it worth going both nights. Several select tracks were performed both nights, but obviously the good ones worth seeing twice. The only negative comment I might have is that Arnie Roth, the conductor, paused too many times to have the orchestra stand, bow, and wait for applause. And much of his commentary was kind of pointless- it would have been much better to just let the orchestra play the music with minimum intermission. Friday he seriously paused after every other song to have the orchestra stand and bow. Saturday he sometimes let 3 songs go, or two really long ones before doing so. But anyway, if you're a fan of the video games, then obviously you know what you're getting. It was great to hear the full orchestra as opposed to the MIDI I've heard in the past. And on the screen, there were a couple times where they had gameplay video at opportune moments to catch a few big laughs from the audience (About 3/4 of the time it was CG or characters wandering the worlds).

This was my third time seeing Mr. Roth and Uematsu-san perform music from Final Fantasy. Each time has been a joy. I took my children (9,7) and they had a wonderful time as well. The new arrangements from FF13 and FF14 hold up well next to the older music, but the highlights remain "Aerith" and "One-Winged Angel."

My son recommended this concert as he is a huge fan of Final Fantasy. He lives in Seattle and my husband, daughter and I drove from Iowa to visit him. We took a side trip to Vancouver so that we could see this show. It was wonderful and we enjoyed ourselves very much in spite of the fact that only my son has played the games. the length was just right, neither too long or too short. The symphony did a great job!

This concert was utterly amazing. The music brought tears to my eyes and will do so to any true Final Fantasy fan! Seeing the great Nobuo Uematsu in person was great, he sat and watched the concert in the audience with everyone else!! He came up on stage to perform one song, sadly, not Zanarkand...I only wish I had VIP tickets so I could have attended the meet and greet, where many got their prized CDs autographed. The only reason I don't give the concert a perfect score is because there was no music from Final Fantasy XII, which I love and has phenomenal music, otherwise it was perfect, I wish it wouldn't have ended, but kept going all night long!!

The reason for which I saw the concert was to hear the beloved music of my childhood performed live- and in this respect the show was OUTSTANDING- beautifully played pieces and talented performers. However, the beauty of the evening was marred a bit by the, well, quirkiness, of those attending the show. It certainly didn't feel professional, and perhaps I should not have expected the audience to behave as such, but I found the strangeness of the people around me took away from my enjoyment of the music. I also feel that the big screen cut scenes could have been so much more effective than they were. The games are full of beautiful cut scenes and such, but the music was often paired with random battle scenes. The pairing of audio and video was absent, as video didn't much even relate to the emotion of the music being played. Overall I truly truly enjoyed the music, which is the essence of the concert, but other distractors in the form of oddball audience members and average video lowered my enjoyment of the show a bit.

This was one of the best concerts i've been to. I've gone to Video Games Live and this concert was simply amazing. I felt like I was reliving my childhood in 2 hours. Then after the concert I got to see Arnie Roth and Nobuo Uematsu after the concert! They were super chill after the concert and allowed an autograph and a picture.

The Orpheum theatre in Vancouver BC was beautiful. Arnie Roth was lively and entertaining. Nobuo-san was funny, humble, and in the audience right across the aisle from me! Needless to say, the music was incredible. Most of the old favorites along with an audience karaoke version of One- Winged Angel. The meet and greet was definitely worth the extra money. I adored every minute of this show!

I wish we could have gone on all night with these orchestral performances of Final Fantasy music. The crowd was wonderfully enthusiastic with the solos and the symphonic arrangements. Uematsu-san's keyboarding along with Arnie Roth's violin soloing was deeply touching. The encore of One-Winged Angel, having the audience sing as the chorus went amazingly well.

The show got off to a bit of a weak start, since Liberi Fatali is not what I'd use as an opener/warm up song. That being said, it was a very complex warm up song, and the night only got better from there. The strings played beautifully, and while it took a while for the horns/brass to really get into it, they came into their own before intermission. The choir's singing was fantastic, though the female vocals soloist was overwhelmed by them at times, by not fault of the choir. Aside from a few slip ups, everything played was absolutely fantastic, and the inclusion of composer Nobuo Uematsu for the final piece was both amusing and wonderful to see. Among really notable highlights were a beautifully done Aerith's theme, the north american premiers of Clash on the Big Bridge and Blinded by Light, and the updated Final Fantasy 1-3 medley (which now includes the song Final Fantasy instead of Chocobo's theme.) I got exactly what I came for and was rather unhappy the night had to end, though it ended with an impressive bang. Overall, the show had beautiful music, the video work combined with the conductor's own amusing demeanor kept the audience laughing, and even my guest who's never played a final fantasy said the show was enjoyable. I eagerly await them returning to Toronto some day, if we're ever so lucky.

I would have to say, that this was a fantastic concert. Mostly due to the fact that everything that Nobuo Uematsu has composed has been quite fantastic. Coming from someone who is classically trained and has a good music background, I would have to say some of the performance was a tad lacking. You could definitely tell the songs that they play all the time and which ones they needed more practice on. Just because of this doesn't make the concert not a five star. The performance overall was awesome though. It did have some corny moments, but what do you expect. I travelled from Michigan to Toronto to see this, and will definitely be traveling to Chicago for the next show.

A must-see event for any fans of the Final Fantasy franchise, fans of Nobuo Uematsu, or just someone looking for something different. Arnie Roth, a Grammy Award winning artist, has a way of bringing energy to a classical music event that you just won't find anywhere else. From the moment they open the doors there's a very tangible energy; the excitement and anticipation of the fans is unreal, and you instantly know you're in for something great. As for the performances themselves, every show is a little different. Each show features a new orchestra, new choir, and new soloist; each of which brings something slightly different to the table. Each and every show has the same effect, however. A classical music concert with fans so passionate you'd think Daft Punk was playing. One of the shows I went to there was a standing ovation after every piece. I've been to see the Distant Worlds show over 5 times now in the past 2 years, and I'm planning on attending 3 more next year. If you haven't seen the show, it's a must-see experience. If you've already seen a show I recommend going again. Arnie has quite the repertoire of pieces to choose from, so no two shows are exactly the same.

I got these tix for my boyfriend who has played the game so he was familiar with the characters and the music. The event itself was amazing, Nobuo Uematsu, Arnie Roth and Susan Calloway were amazing in their performances and score the would invoke Nostalgia for the Square Enix's venerable franchise and would revive the passion to play through the moments that defined Final fantasy. The editing for the montages were greatly edited and re-scaled graphically to excellent standards and corresponding montage is played with the song of the matching series. The Orchestra itself were phenomenal the scores being played through out the event they did not skipped a beat for the varying scores. The conclusion, the event itself was critically praised and would hope to visit again for the next distant worlds event and would hopefully bring my friend again to enjoy this moment with her. This is not just for the final fantasy fans but for lovers of orchestra who want to hear the new standard of orchestral music.

As a lifelong fan of FF (and of Uematsu's music), I had always wanted to attend a Distant Worlds concert. The show was amazing and included a good variety of classics and medleys and the quality of the performance was excellent. I would have preferred more music from the older games, but all of the pieces were amazing and unforgettable. Everyone in the audience seemed thrilled to be there and went absolutely nuts for Uematsu, who attended the show and went up on stage and spoke briefly. Arnie Roth kept the audience engaged and the show was a lot of fun. If I ever get a chance to go again, I will, and would definitely spring for even better seats or a VIP pass to meet Uematsu and Arnie Roth.

My wife and I had a great time. Met some cool and interesting people. Great show, amazing music, Arnie Roth is amazing! The video content was great, a little repetitive at parts. Loved our seats, the venue was really nice. Concessions were surprisingly pricey compared to other venues. Staff was very nice, other attendees were polite and easy to interact with. We would/will definitely recommend these shows and this venue to our friends! I would like to give this a 5*, but I have seen the show before and there were some things that were better at other shows, all in all we loved it though!

The orchestra, music, lead vocalist (Susan Calloway) and conductor (Arnie Roth) were all great. Nobuo Uematsu being there was also a plus. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough old school FF material. Not counting medleys, there was nothing from FFIV (great game), and only one song from FFVI (one of my favorite works of fiction of all time.). Thankfully, there were three songs from FFVII (great game), but this was marred by that fact that half the video footage being shown was from the Complication FFVII, which I can't stand. As stated earlier, the orchestra and conductor were great. Even if most of the games represented weren't good, the music from them was great, and that is what I'm really here for. I hate MMOs but the vocal song from FFXIV gave me the chills (in a good way.) Overall, I would recommend it. Just play ONE DEDICATED SONG form FFIV...This is my fourth concert of FFDW, and FFIV never gets any love. I vote for Four Lords of the Elements.

Played way too much new stuff from recent titles. I was looking for nostalgia. Didn't get it. The sound was also bad. Vocalist overpowered the orchestra. Crowd was also annoying and interrupted during songs. Overall I would say poor song selection was its biggest downfall though. I waited most of my life to go to one of these so its hard to express how disappointed I am in writing. I've given up on Square Enix.

Being the second Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds concert I have attended, this was basically more of what I love. Though some of the song selection wasn't quite in line with my favorite FF games like the last concert, I still plan to see multiple Distant World symphonies in the future. They really bring the wonderful music to life and the videos are filled with great moments in the series which are well edited to either tell a story or make you laugh. My only small complaint actually has something to do with (what I hear is) a rare occurrence. The great and powerful Nobuo Uematsu graced us with his presence! Which was extremely unexpected and amazing to actually see him in person to take pictures. Except he only said about 3 words total! He said, "If you want." to the conductor when asked a question. Though it was very good English. Meanwhile for the last symphony I went to the composer for Final Fantasy XII, Masaharu Iwata, made an appearance and announced the FF: XII remake with a translator. That was much more impressive to actually have an announcement, but to have him at least acknowledge the audience would have been really appreciated. Or autographs! That being said, I know that is a lot to ask for. Since time is money. So at least thanking everyone for coming would have been great.

Distant Worlds music from Final Fantasy is a collection of classic Final Fantasy songs orchestrated by Nobuo Uematsu and conducted by Artie Roth. If you don't know what 'Music From FINAL FANTASY' means, this probably is not going to interest you. But if you're a fan, or sort of a fan and you're wondering if this is worth the time and money, the answer is yes. I had wanted to take my little brother to the one in the DC region in 2010, but couldn't get the night off from work. So this time we drove 500 miles round trip and had a great time. There were cosplayers, game lovers, and a hilariously a handful of season ticket holders at the venue who had no idea what was going on. I would definitely recommend it to a friend who was a gamer and will try to go again when they do another tour.

What a beautiful show! Most orchestra shows I have been to see have always been very rigid and intimidating. This show had such a homey feeling. Gathering a massive group of people all with a love of the Final Fantasy series growing up was truly remarkable. Fans of all ages and backgrounds. Great performance, I wish Distant Worlds would perform more at various locations. One problem I saw was that they didn't being enough merchandise to sell, only about 1000 shirts, and about 10-100 albums depending on which soundtrack they were selling. They sold out before the first performance ended and didn't have restock or anything for the second performance.

It was AMAZING. For the 25th anniversary, they included a chocobo medley and a special battle-theme medley. And the opera for Maria and Draco from FF6 was so beautifully done. I did feel kinda bad when the director, Arnie Roth, excitedly made an announcement about Lightning Returns and some guy jokingly booed. It was a quiet boo, though. I could barely hear him myself, but a lot of the audience members on his side of the theatre started laughing, and the director was like, "Wait, I missed something, didn't I? What's so funny?" People still clapped, so it wasn't too bad. The concert was still very enjoyable. To top it off, they closed with Aerith's Theme. There were of course some great cosplays from fans, as well. It was just a really good night :)

Choice of songs was great-really brought back a lot of good memories of playing these games. I was pleased to hear more songs from the older games, such as the main title from FFV and "Theme of Love" from FFIV. All three soloists for the opera from FFVI were amazing as well! Overall, it was a nice selection of songs and video, with actual gameplay footage mixed in with the animations from the games. Wonderful to see and hear! The only downside might have been the venue itself. Parking was not immediately apparent, and we were late to the beginning of the show trying to find it. Also, when we arrived there was an usher to scan our tickets, and she barely even acknowledged us. No one directed us to our seats, and it was a major challenge trying to find them in the dark. We also walked into the auditorium in the middle of a song, which I'm not used to being able to do at these concerts. The seats themselves were great, but a little help in finding them would have gone a long way! I would definitely go to another FF concert like this, though. Had a great time overall!

Where do I start? I was excited to see this concert for about half a year, and upon arriving I was not disappointed. The theater was packed with Final Fantasy fans of all kinds, some were cosplaying; others just as jazzed as I was to be there. We arrived early and were treated to a dealer's table and a preview of the concert right there in the main entrance. After we were settled with some merchandise, we went to our seats to await the show. Despite being in the third level of the auditorium, the view was great. The show was wonderful and I was delighted that I was able to be a part of this memorable event.

The night had me on top of the world. It was amazing to see how well Chicagoland Pops rendered Final Fantasy classics. Seeing Arnie Roth and Nobuo Uematsu together was spectacular, as well. And let's not forget the stellar performance by Susan Calloway {spelling}. The pre-concert tournament, swag, and content was pretty decent, too. It was great that they included a pre-concert. Great time. I would love to do this again. Maybe pre-concert stuff a little more interactive, even. But amazing, either way!

Amazing! Must-see. There was everything. Orchestra, Opera, Pop singer-esque (Susan Calloway), Ueamatsu performing live. Arnie Roth is also truly amazing and charming perfect. His live violin performance was incredible, never heard anything so beautiful.

The music was such an awesome experience live, even my GF who has never played a Final Fantasy game enjoyed the show! I will absolutely go again when they come back to the Ohio Theater which according to the composer will be possibly next year.

We waited for several years for this concert to come close enough for us to attend. It was well worth the wait. The orchestra was amazing, and watching the video footage along with the music brought back the gaming experience. This show is one you cannot miss.

That had to be one of the most fun events I've ever been to. Getting to see Nobuo Uematsu was such a treat, everyone there was so friendly, the music was all excellently performed. Highly recommended for fans of Final Fantasy.

Nobuo Uematsu is a master at this music stuff and I enjoyed every moment of it, and Mr. Roth conducted a spectacular performance! If Distant Worlds comes back to LA, I am definitely going back!

LOVED the MUSIC. Got to see Nobuo Uetmasu and Hironobu Sakaguchi. Arnie Roth, the conductor, has got to be one of the best humorous conductor-- loved the atmosphere. MUST GO SEE if you're a FF FAN! I've finally gone after 14 years of loving this game. They show stills of each game as they perform the orchestra.

This is one of the best Distant Worlds I've attended. It had some of the most enjoyable arrangements I've heard yet, and a great variety of songs from the various games.

Distant Worlds is always a treat, and it was especially fun to be at a performance in the same audience with Uematsu. The venue is in a great location, there's a ton to do in Toronto. The venue interior was modern, so not as fun as a grand old theater, but musically it sounded very good. This was a good selection of songs. It was a little heavy on VII, which makes sense with the remake coming out. My only complaint was that some of the songs felt unrehearsed- the choir seemed to not be following accurately at certain points or were hard to hear/drowned out on some songs. I was super excited to hear Apocalypsis Noctis, but it sounded sadly kind of sloppy. Perhaps more time was needed for the local orchestra and choir to really feel comfortable with the entire repertoire.

Fantastic event all the way around. Uematsu's music is beautiful and the music from the entire series along with the video montages was amazing to experience. It did take the sound engineers a few songs to get the microphones set at balanced levels for the orchestra and there was some crackling in the speakers at times, but it didn't detract from the overall experience. Please bring this concert back to New Orleans!

Distant Worlds concerts are, for Final Fantasy fans, one of the most beautiful entertainment-related experiences in which one can partake. The New Orleans show was no exception. Anyone who gets the chance should attend a Distant Worlds show.

If you have a love for Final Fantasy music, this is a show that you'll enjoy and you will not regret. You'll probably complain that the fact they didn't play your "favorite" song, but they'll still play memorable songs that you will/should enjoy. I enjoyed the first one so much that I got up during intermission and got another ticket for the second show. It turned out even better, because they played more songs I was familiar with.

I had been waiting for Distant Worlds to come closer to NYC, and with it being held in New Jersey, it was an easy decision to pick up tickets and make the trip to the event. The music selection was good, especially the focus on FVI and IX, and hearing the music live from the orchestra made it sound that much better than recordings you might hear online. Also, it was awesome to see Uematsu there at the event. My only regret is being able to watch only one of the two concerts held that day. I definitely recommend Distant Worlds to any fan of FF or VG music in general.

Distant Worlds was one of the best concerts I'd ever has the pleasure to attend, and is a definite must for anyone who enjoys the Final Fantasy series. There is nothing like listening to the familiar soundtrack from the games live, to feel the music as they were meant to be played. It was a surreal experience, but in an incredibly good way. The concert was two hours long, but it felt like mere minutes and yet still more than enough to leave me breathless and wishing the concert could have lasted longer. I will definitely attend again when I get the chance to.

A little less than half of the pieces I do not recall having heard before despite having played almost all of the past final fantasy series. Die hard fans will remember all of them and can relate. This is what made each piece so powerful because hearing it brings you back into the world of final fantasy when you first played that scene in the game that featured the songs. My favorite was when RIKKI came out to sing "suteki da ne". It was so powerful I teared. She did it perfectly and beautifully like it brought me back into the game. Wonderful performance for anyone even if they aren't fans of the final fantasy series. But some may just find this performance lacking in the classical genre if they solely base it off of that. 5stars for die hard fans who played all ff games. 4 if you know about the series and played just a few or even none.

I have been hoping to see the Distant Worlds concert for years now, but this is the first time it has come to the NY area since 2011. I had an amazing time and would recommend this show to anyone who has ever enjoyed a piece of music from a Final Fantasy game. Seeing the full orchestra perform pieces I remember fondly from my childhood was incredible! The performance was powerful and moving, and the sound at NJPAC is phenomenal. Conductor Arnie Roth does a fantastic job, and it was amazing to see him play the violin opposite Nobuo Uematsu on the keyboard. If you get the chance to see a Distant Worlds concert, don't miss it!
