It was like inviting Eddie into our living room fir a chat. The Tivoli s acoustics and seating make for a very intimate setting for a show.

We went to see Eddie Izzard at the historic Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga. The show about his book was great. He has a way of delivering his dialogue that is always funny. However, I think if someone went to this show (Belive Me book Tour) because they heard Eddie Izzard stand-up was great (which it is) they may have been disappointed. This was a book tour and he pretty much told us about his life and that was the show. For those die-hard Eddie fans, this is definitely icing on the cake.

The evening was Eddie reflecting on his life and sharing bits of his book. It was still funny and entertaining but not like a stand up show. Like sitting and having a conversation with him in your living room. If you're a fan, you must go!

Eddie Izzard never disappoints...Lot's of new material with a heavy dose of Izzard's deft observations made for an excellent evening. Truly a visual performer, Eddie took us from the day the Earth was created through modern day with plenty of detours (Eddie Izzard style) to keep it all interesting and relevant. In a word, "It Killed"

Eddie Izzard is, without question, the greatest stand up comedian of his generation. Actually, I feel calling what Eddie does "stand up comedy" does not really grasp the essence of an evening in his presence. His amazing ability to tie together what appear to be dozens of loose threads is astounding. He is capable of integrating wildly divergent cultural references (the Bible and Aliens?) without any of it feeling forced or contrived. Eddie Izzard does not go for the obvious laugh--in fact, he seems to eschew the easy routes and often pursues lines of thought that leave the audience baffled for stretched before pulling it all back together. You cannot be lazy when you see him--to do so is to miss out on what makes him a true genius in his milieu.

Eddie Izzard is brilliant. Entertaining, smart, clever. Just adore him. He came to lobby after show for a Q&A. I'd see him anywhere. NJPAC, my first time here. Venue is not bad. Bring cash, eat before you come, not many choices. Seat was not worth the price. Had obstructed view. Couldnt tell from the seating chart. Having been now have better idea.

Eddie is still the smartest and funniest guy out there. He is collecting historical tidbits from the concert locations along the way, and he incorporates them into the show. In addition, you get cameos from Jeff, Steve, Darth Vader, God, Jesie Chrisie, and many other characters. He skewers stupidity at every turn, and he does it in such a cheeky way!

We really enjoyed the show. Eddie Izzard delivered a smart and hilarious set in the same flavor as his previous shows. I approved that drinks were allowed in the theater, however it was very distracting that the group seated in front of us got up about 4 times during the first half. The Warner Theater is beautiful.

Though this is only the second of Eddie's live shows I've seen, I own all of his dvds and have watched them numerous times. This is easily his best performance in years (no small feat). Laying groundwork with what seem to be meandering references, Eddie masterfully pulls the bits together into frenetic crescendos of mime and imagery. As a special treat for long-time fans, references to previous routines are sprinkled throughout the new material (Darth Vader and Mr. Stevens meet again!). The show ended and I wished I could watch it all over again; eagerly awaiting the dvd.

The Hollywood Bowl venue was amazing - espcially seeing Eddie Izzard take off from the stage and run all the way up the stairs to the back of the bowl to say hi to his fans. Our seats were far away but there are two huge video screens to watch the show on. At the intermission they played animated clips of Eddie's most famous jokes made by fans on youtube. Awe-some!
It was great! Eddie Izzard is funny like no other. It didn't appear that his show was scripted or maybe it was and I couldn't tell. He ad-libbed most of his show and I liked that. He even ran all the way to the top to say hello to us with cheap tickets. I would see him again, maybe at a smaller venue though :)
"You know, I've just learned something. If you SAY your going to do something to 20,000 you have to ACTUALLY do it!" ~ Eddie Izzard upon returning to the stage after going straight up through the crowd to the top aka "cheap seats". After that it was just 2 hours of comic genius. To try to describe it would do it an injustice. It's Eddie Izzard. He is one of our greatest living stand-ups. You know you missed history as he commanded the Hollywood Bowl at near capacity with his only opener being the composer of his documentary's theme song singing 2 numbers. BRILLIANCE! He was also right that we had better seats than the front row: 5 screens plus Eddie PLUS we saw the entire crowd in his little British hands. Bravo Eddie... BRAVO!
We have seen every one of his DVDS, and quote him often, and he blew us away! He was so funny, upbeat and he worked in enough of his old stuff to satisfy us! His new stuff was fantastic, and as good or better.
He was so amazing at this show. No matter where you were sitting it was worth it. :) He ran all the way to the top of the bowl and still did an amazing set.
My family and I are huge fans of Eddie Izzard and were so excited when we heard he was bringing Stripped to the Bowl. It wasn't an exact retelling of Stripped which was great. A lot more jokes and discussion. The whole section I was in was laughing to the point of tears which really added to the environment! It was such a great night.
The Hollywood Bowl has never hosted a solo comedian in the past - and this should be a reason to book them more (if they are as "comedically" impressive as Eddie of course). Eddie jumped off the stage and ran to the very top of the Bowl to give everyone in the audience some excitement and attention. That started off the night perfectly. Eddie's humor is universal - its a slap-stick-mime routine about historical events we are all aware of, and silly imaginary situations (raptures driving cars in traffic?). His style seems to never fail (in my opinion). If you could ever go see him live, do your life a favor, and do so. If you haven't been to the Bowl, DO THAT AS WELL. Its a great facility and if LA PHIL is hosting the show that night, they allow you to bring in your own food and wine.
I thought I knew how to laugh. Until I saw the Stripped on the Shore show. Obviously, I have not mastered the art of laughing. Oh, I have laughed before, thanks to other comics, but this was the first time that I laughed so hard, so uncontrollably, that I physically suffered from a cramp in my leg. My left Hamstring locked up as Eddie was doing his 'Latin and Hannibal' bit.. It hurt like a sonofabeech, but I couldn't stop laughing. Mind you, this is about 2 hours into the show. Two hours of strenuous laughs. Picture me squirming in my seat, trying to stretch my leg, happy tears running down my face, simultaneously laughing like a madman. "Hannibal? Elephantus?? Quod the Faaak?!" Ahh.. you had to be there. Thanks Eddie for the most pleasant painful injury. I'm all good now, but want to go back in time. Back at Shoreline.
Eddie Izzard is bar none one of the most talented comedians working today. He's creative with subject matter and his mimes are really hilarious. He also incorporates specifics about the venue and the people there into his routine and that makes it doubly interesting. He's so amazingly quick and nimble on his feet, I can't believe it. I nearly had tears from laughing so hard. I would see another of Eddie's shows in a heartbeat. I wish he were in the Bay Area all the time, and I wish he had more television specials.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Eddie was very animated and firing on all cylinders. Loved the intimacy of Massey Hall but would buy better seats next time to make sure I don't miss any of the subtleties in his jokes. Eddie makes you laugh without even trying. I think he is awesome!
you'd think that in person he wouldn't be as awesome as his DVDs - but he was of course! and we waited at the stage door (for 2 hours!) and got to get his autograph, have a chat and a photo - he's even the same up-close-n-personal! funniest guy alive! thanks Eddie! we love you - my girls and I! we quote you all the time. keep it up. hope to see you again in California very soon. Yes, we did fly all the way to Vancouver just for your show :-)
As always, I love seeing Eddie. I didn't think this was his best, but am still glad I went. The theater though, was almost unbearably cold, which made it hard to relax and enjoy. I think, too, I am spoiled by seeing him at smaller venues. Eddie, call me..........
I have been a fan of this man's comedy for years, so to go see him live was great. He was much funnier in person and it was a great night. The Nokia Theater was an amazing place to see it.
Eddie Izzard's performance at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live on Friday, January 29th was incredible as always. Eddie continues to be one the best comedic entertainers in the world today! Nobody does solo two-party conversations at all like Eddie does. Nobody has internal conflicting, revealing and pragmatic discussions outloud in front of a large crowd nearly as poignantly, politically and personally revealing as Eddie does. And he does all of this with the incredible ability of hitting home with every audience member on a personal level. Eddie's gift of internal conflicted gab continues to amaze and entertain audiences. Whether he acts out our social and personal idiosyncracies in the voice of a typical California hipster grappling with their i-gadget, as early man struggling toward enlightenment by way of a large stone, or as a velociraptor cleverly disguised as a jazz-chicken band manager, Eddie's vantage point strikes a chord with all of us and he does so in the hillarious manner that we have all come to know and love in our one and only executive transvestite! Long live Eddie!
This show was awesome! It is amazing to me that one man can play to a crowd of thousands with such energy and enthusiasm. If you are a heavily religious person, this isn't the show for you. But if you aren't you will find the show fantastic, and he has the guts to say the things you've always thought. :) I can't wait for him to do another show! Eddie, you are the best!!!
I saw "Dress to Kill" on HBO in 2002 and I was hooked. My wife and I bought all of his DVDs, (though we still don't have "Sexie" or "Stripped" as they are only available in PAL versions). He is funny, funny, funny. He lampoons many deserving targets without making it personal. His reason and rationality enlighten as well as amuse. Also, he looks like a million bucks. Looking dapper in coat and tails with some rather sexy looking jeans; simple, but elegant. ALSO, we bid on seats in the charity auction and sat three rows from the stage. I hope we didn't scare you, Eddie! Thanx for the wonderful show!
Hear me now and "Believe Me" later, an evening listening to Eddie Izzard reminiscing and reading from his autobiography was entertaining, interesting, funny, poignant, lovely and sweet. Being a V.I.Bee, which allowed me the opportunity to meet Eddie and have a photograph taken with him as well, was AWESOME! The Best Friday the 13th Ever! For me it was an evening to remember.
❤ A wonderful human being. "I just believe in the goodwill of people, the power of people to do something positive." Eddie Izzard

I was delighted with Eddie's appearance at Town Hall on June 14. Thus was my third time seeing Eddie; saw Stripped and Forced Majuere in Austin. I took my wife and child to the show in Birmingham, AL as a birthday present for my wife. While I have no problem with those who do not share my views, I do not ever seek to offend them for theirs. This show was so anti-God and offensive, we left early. If I could get the $150 we spent on tickets refunded, I would. It was awful, barely intellectual, and completely ignorant in parts. I regret spending the money on this trip and was highly disappointed. All this was discovered after we spent $90 on merchandise. I've been a fan since Dressed To Kill, but had I known where this one was heading, we wouldn't have wasted our time, nor our money.

Eddie Izzard's Force Majeure show was just as good as I hoped it would be! He is easily my favorite comedian and this show lived up to all of his past shows. He even had a surprise (well, I don't know if it had been announced anywhere else, but I hadn't heard about it) Q&A in the lobby after the show. Surprisingly, most of the audience left before he came out to the lobby. I was actually surprised by the length of the Q&A, he answered quite a few questions.

Have every dvd this comedian has ever produced and can't wait til this one comes out on video!! Wonderful venue for this one man show and Eddie lived up to everything I expected and more! Only wish I had felt up to staying for the Q&A in the lobby after the show - would have been even more special! Such an outstanding performer - wouldn't have missed this for anything!!! Spending a couple of hours with Eddie Izzard is always and enjoyable time. Some of his material made us laugh hysterically. This is my 4th time seeing Eddie, and he was in top form. A lot of brand new material, with enough call-backs to older classics that got a great reaction from the crowd. His energy was great, and this was the best-timed show of his I have seen. Bonus points for the Q&A in the lobby! As for the venue: my seat was great and the staff was lovely. the drinks were pretty reasonably priced for a concert venue. I am from Boston, but visit family in Vegas often and will keep an eye on their schedule for future shows.

What a fantastic show. Having never seen a comedic performance at the Bowl, I wasn't sure how it would be but my apprehension eased as soon as Eddie stepped on stage. The large video screens made it easier to see his facial expressions etc and the sound quality was amazing. Even sitting all the way back in section T, I had no problems hearing him. The show itself was amazing. Everything new with a "Death Star Canteen" homage and new jokes on Julius Caesar, Lord of the Rings, Ghengis Khan and more. A fantastic show that I would definitely see again. CON: The only thing I was upset with was the fact that the t-shirt booth only had size Medium in the baby T's. They didn't even have any other sizes. Apparently there was a mixup and only Medium sizes were sent. Other than the shopping issue, an amazing night and well worth the money spent.

Starting with a laser light show typically reserved for a rockstar, then Izzard being ushered to stage with Bond theme music, a quick hello and off on a series of rants beginning with "Human Sacrifice." Only person able to pull this off is Eddie Izzard: action transvestite. He provides a high-brown history lesson to the audience by guiding them along a series of imaginative "had it been," "what if" scenarios, back to reality and down another rabbit hole with god wearing scuba gear. Well done!! The Majestic Theatre is gorgeous (understatement). Sound was excellent; so clear it was if we were on stage with him. Downside was the intermission line with a rowdy drunk hassling me to let him move up to the front. Would be nice to position a couple theatre employees / volunteers nearby. Et voile.

This is our first concert to see Eddie Izzard, and hopefully will not be our last. His material was fresh and new with a few references to his classic material. With this in mind, he was smart, funny and insightful as usual. He references real world historical events in his act. This prompted me to look up the Battle of Alesia as I am also a history buff. The crowd was pleasant and typical of the Eddie Izzard fan. You could easily determine who really knew his work as they got the subtle references he made during the evening. This was our first time at the Hobby Center and we had a wonderful time. The lighting and sound was a big part of the presentation and made a very good impression. Before the show, the food concession choices were varied and well presented. I would happily attend another event at this venue. My only feeling of sadness stems from the fact that he had sooo many fans waiting to meet him after the show that we did not have the time to participate. I guess that will have to be for another day. At least I have a picture of me in front of his life size poster that was on the wall.

I got to see Eddie on his Sexie tour many years ago in Los Angeles, so this was my second experience seeing him live. As a long time fan, the show delivered. Lots of laughs, good interaction with the audience, great bits that looped around and paid off again later. Eddie balances the ridiculous with the intelligent, often with a lesson beneath a silliness that so many of us relate to... he just has the guts to be silly on stage. For people familiar with his other shows, he throws in a nod now and then, like a private joke among friends, but not to the exclusion of new fans. All in all, a great comedic performance by a wonderfully intelligent and compassionate human being.

Eddie had injured his foot, while it may have slowed his typical movements on stage it did not slow his mind. He kept the audience engaged and laughing the whole evening. We were expecting a comedy routine. Instead, this is a book promotional tour. Eddie talked about what s going on in his life and his experience writing his book with little to no comedic interjections. We drove three hours to get to the concert and felt that the entire journey and event was a total waste of time. If you want to hear about his life, buy the book. The venue in Thousand Oaks is great. I have never seen Eddie in person before but have all his disks. He was great. I learned more about the person and that he ran 27 marathons in 27 days .. as just one of his running ventures. It sounded like he will be out of the Entertainment business for a while ... joining Parliament. I wish him the best .. a little sad we won't be getting our comic relief for a while. Best in your journey's Eddie ..

One of the best comic shows that I've been to in so long. Eddie captured the audience with his wit and wonderful humor. Such a great night and family experience.

When I found out Eddie would be performing locally, I jumped at the opportunity to see him again. This time around his performance was a little different then the last time I saw him, but I still love his quirky humor and attitude. I look forward to seeing him again in the future. The venue was surprising. I ve passed by it numerous times, but never had the opportunity to actually go inside. The seats were great! The vantage point was higher up, then I planned (my bad, should have had my glasses), but still amazing. I will definitely make an effort to see other performances there.

absolutely top quality entertainer. brilliant and funny. If you're a fan, you'll get the "cake or death" phrase. Yes - he was promoting his book, but it was in his inimitable, hilarious style. He has a lot to say, and gives you some wonderful things to think about as well. highly recommend it.

More interested in selling his book than putting on a comedy act
If you were interested in seeing an Eddie Izzard comedy show ...this isn't it. If you are looking for a show ABOUT Eddie Izzard, then this is the one for you. Instead of the usual high energy, stream of consciousness, side splitting antics Eddie is known for this was more like sitting in a class room getting a lecture on the life and times of Eddie while promoting his new book and a recent documentary about him. No energy, lots of photos of Eddie's child hood, a few chuckles, and at the end Eddie takes a bow, the lights snap on and everyone stands up and says "was that it?" We've seen Eddie's shows before and walked away from all of them feeling we got our money's worth. Not so this time. We could've saved the ticket price and just bought the book.
The event information didn't specify so I wasn't sure what we were in for, but this clearly was a book tour. It was still enjoyable to see Eddie, he was a big part of my entertainment past, but I was expecting something else, something comedic like Dressed To Kill. I also expected Eddie to research where he was speaking, and make some of his comments topical to the area, but he stuck to the script which was just a recap of his life. When asked about the area he didn't know anything, and unfortunately the weather in the area was bad so his impression was bad. The show was still interesting, and he is still an interesting dude, but I was underwhelmed. Oh well. Also, Ticketmaster fees are expensive.
My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at the Silver Legacy for my birthday and bought tickets for Eddie Izzard's "comedy" show. What a disappointment his show was! Not funny at all. All he did was show videos and narrate pictures of his life. He even used Google Earth on the screen to show where he's lived. I work on computers all day, so the LAST thing I want to look at while at a show is a website. We ended up leaving about 40 minutes into the "show". We saw several other people leave as well. Very disappointed! Not funny at all.
Eddie Izzard, a documentary performance, spent his 2-hour Silver Legacy stage time to whip quip through life's challenges, sharing experiences as a young man learning to honor diverse gender desires, as a growing professional performer, transforming into famed transvestite superhero, and soon to be a candidate for the British Parliment, further building upon the wave of success he's riding. Dissappointing for me...his performance seemed self indulgent, borrowing license from his fame with only lukewarm antecdotes that inspired loyal laughs, while the rest of us felt underestimated. His book is an easy, fun read, however. But, for a better time at the live show, don't read it before you go or you'll know too well his script.
I attended the show at the Silver Legacy the venue was very comfortable the audio was great and the Jumbotron s were great Was looking for that sassy snarky comedy from Eddie but it s pretty much a verbal dissertation on his book as a child growing up and how we went into comedy and then he focuses on a political statement at the end I was disappointed I was looking forward to more comedy
I purchased these tickets expecting a comedy show what we got was a life story documentary him tring to hock his book and is tv documentary. I don't even think he told one joke. Absolutely a complete bust and waste of time
Eddie is humble, humorous and beautiful in his delivery. This show was a little different than the ones I have seen before. It was a narrative of his life but in a fantastic and funny way. I can t wait to read his book (got one), was hoping he would come out and sign it, but he didn t. I would recommend this show!

Paid for and attended a comedy show and also paid for a room. Ended up being a plug for his future political efforts and a brag show for his humanitarianism. Expected "cake or death" but he didn't deliver what people went there to hear. Very disappointed and a waste of my hard-earned money.

I went to see a comedy and got an auto-biography of Izzard's life, it was presented like a slide show. it was not very good, I saw his show last year at Shoreline and this was not even close to that performance 2nd the seating was all wrong at the Exposition Hall, we were moved 3 times, my wife was verbally abused by patrons and staff when asked why we had to move when the tickets matched the seat , it was really bad ... never again at the Silver Legacy

Having watched Eddie s stand up CD from 2000, I expected the show would be funny. It was a only a story of his life with slides. Why would anyone want to pay $65 not to be entertained. The show was a summary of his life. Not the comedy show we expected!

We are big fans of his comedy standup stuff, but this was a long slog through his life story instead of his usual stuff. I'm sorry, but this is not what we'd hoped for. It was funny but sparingly so. He has a fairly interesting story but not that interesting. There were liberal moments but not overly obnoxious. Just being honest.

Having seen Eddie Izzard twice before in performance, i had great expectations for this event. Unfortunately, i was very disappointed in his act. While he was mildly entertaining, there were few laughs, and he was nowhere near as good a performer as i had anticipated. He basically told his life story. I think he could have made it more enjoyable.

Horrible! As a huge fan of Eddie Izzard, I was so disappointed at this "comedy show". I watched as people around me fell asleep and/or got up and left half way through the show. This was nothing but a 90 minute advertisement for his book. Very sad and disappointed!

Eddie Izzard is my hero of stand up comedy. He is just that combination of idiotic childlike humour and historical information that makes his comments surprising, charming and hysterically funny. Dressed to kill was much more so but this was really good fun too.
