Al was in a good mood for last show of the Opus tour USA. Fiery performance and great band interplay. Show was electric set, acoustic, and electric for the close. I ve seen Al ~150 shows over the years and this was up there. Curious, though, why he doesn t play tunes from Land of the Midnight Sun.

In a music landscape filled with meaningless content and a complete lack of talent, how refreshing to enjoy an evening with a true artist of the highest order who has stayed true to his art and continues to amaze all who are fortunate to attend his concerts. Historic!!!

Al and his band of world class musicians were truly unforgettable! After a technical problem (which Al handled humorously and engagingly with the audience) the group performed flawlessly and provided us with the performance only the very best guitar player in the world could provide. DO NOT MISS AL DI MEOLA - YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

Incredible show. We were lucky enough to get front row seats and it really made the experience amazing. Al and the band were super tight and rocking the whole night. There was a glitch with his guitar rig that caused a half hour or so delay, but he entertained the audience with jokes until his rig was fixed. One of the best shows Ive ever seen.

Al Dimeola is a fantastic musician. His music is melodic Jazz fusion with multi-cultural influences. His earlier work was more Jazz fusion rock and now has evolved to have a European Jazz flare. He spends a fair amount of time in Asia and Europe to reach his fans there and when in the US we are treated to a wonderful and special experience. Al is all about the music and his fans. He plays his notes with and around the time of beat. Amazing tempo technician. He takes time after performances to do meet and greets and chat with his fans. He is the best at what he does, but if you asked him he is humble and talks about all his influences including the Beatles. Anyway go to his site and there will be a great Bio that you can read.

This man is amazing. His music is like a chemical stimulant to my brain. I first heard of Al Di Meola when someone put on his first CD on the submarine sound system. I've been hooked ever since. It's great to see him with an electric guitar in his hands and I can't wait for this new tour. I've seen him many times, but I'll always remember the concert in 1982, his 'Electric Rendezvous' Tour. The lineup was as follows. Al Di Meola - Guitars Steve Gadd - Drums Mingo Lewis - Percussion Anthony Jackson - Bass Jan Hammer - Keyboards Philippe Saisse - Marimba We still have the t-shirt from the concert!

Al Di Meola's performance at this concert exceeded my expectations. He was approachable at the end of the concert and seemed to be humble when he was signing CDs and posters for his fans. I know he is phenomenal because I have witness several of his concerts over the past 21 years. The band members complement each other very well. When is he coming back to Atlanta?????

My first time seeing Al live and he delivered a great performance! He started out with songs from his new CD and ended with an encore of two older songs including the one we were waiting to hear all night - "Race with the Devil on a Spanish Highway" What more could you ask for? I will see Al again if he is in the area or near by since he sounded very good in this venue that is not bad, but other concerts did not sound as good at this location.

Big fan... Saw him and his extraordinary band the last two times they performed at the Variety Playhouse (and numerous times in NYC). He says he loves to perform here and the audience is terrific and respectful. He even stayed in the lobby after the show to greet fans and sign his new CD. It simply never ceases to amaze me about how melodic, technical and just simply magical he is with his guitars and his musical arrangements. The great thing about AL Di Meola is it really doesn't matter what he plays - his live performances are truly wonderful... Can't say enough good things about this wizard of good!

We actually did not attend this show. We purchased tickets, but learned that once again Al DiMeola would be accompanied by the grating, omnipresent accordion player who (from our standpoint) entirely ruined his last show at the Variety Theater. The accordion is a strange instrument with little utilitarian value in most musical genres. It seems to lend a Parisian cafe feel to everything it touches. Frankly, your mind wanders, and you begin to imagine the guy with a little suited-up monkey on his shoulder and a tin can on the floor. Perhaps he's a good musician. Just not my taste. Anyway, we decided it was far better to take a loss on these tickets, and miss seeing Al D - one of my husband's all-time favorite guitarists - to avoid the unpleasantness.

Yes Al is on the mark as always no argument... Tho I would have liked to hear a few tracks off his "Kiss My Axe" Canvas... The new sounds are very well done, I have not heard Al in over a decade and it seems this latest tour had a very Parisian theme with the "Accordion" leading the charge throughout most of the show. I along with the friends I brought with me were hoping for a bit more of the Latin flavor, as I had bragged to them of his unique style throughout this arena. All in all the show was outstanding and Al continues to walk his own unique path.

I last saw Al about oh.....20 years ago. Saw the friday night in SF trio and the Electric rendezvous tour . Last night his first 6-7 tunes were all fairly new and featured his accordian player. I feel that all the songs sounded very alike and did not care for the accordian player. Although I can appreciate his skill I feel that al has replaced keyboards with the accordian and I just dont care for it.As far as the "oldies" they were ok but I prefer when musicians play tunes like I hear on the album instead of mixing in what ever comes to mind at the time (improvising) Al is still great but I guess I just dont care for his newer stuff.

It was such a pleasure to witness this high level of skill, ability, and entertainment at the concert. Al was engaging, there were some issues with feedback and he brought the audience into resolving them. He was very personable and is clearly and artist with very high standards of sound presentation. The band was quite good. The percussionist in particular was a hoot and "sparred" with Al a couple of times in the "center ring" of the stage, trading virtuosity on guitar vs. triangle and gourd. I loved the concert. Thanks Al, for bringing it.

Great little venue for a show. 2nd row on balcony brings you pretty close to stage. Bathrooms unfortunately are in the basement only . Show itself was not his best effort, a little disorganized which surprised me for such a seasoned performer. sound techs had conflict with Al and he had to stop the show twice to straighten it out (no sound check?) the only other complaint was the stage lighting set up behind and on sides of the band. The LED lights where aimed directly into the eyes of the audience and were so bright myself and others actually had to put on sun glasses while others were holding their hands in front of their eyes. (not a great way to watch a performance) Now the good part. When Al was on focus, he was great, acoustic set was nice, but too short. backup was just ok and drum solo ending the show abruptly was weird. Came back for encore of a few songs. Overall a "C" performance.

The sound was spot on and he and the band were in great form! I was taken back in time when he walked onto the stage wearing a black vest over a white button-front shirt (and a big smile), appearing exactly as he did on the Elegant Gypsy album cover (which I had brought with me and left in my truck with a copy of the same on a CD in case there would be a chance to show this long-time fan's devotion)...talk about nostalgia. Everyone had a great time and the seats my friends and I selected in one of the booths allowed a good view most of the time as well. Tunes are still swimming through my memories! A fabulous evening with friends... Cindy Rock

I waited 40 years to see Al DiMeola -- and I was not disappointed. He is one of the great guitar gods. He is now in his 60's -- and sadly, his fans have all aged with him. There should be some way to turn on younger audiences to his incredible talent.

Dimeola and crew were superb. A range of material from his RTF days to now, mingled with handsome selections from Elegant Gypsy. The set s organized as electric, acoustic, electric and does not disappoint. The last time I saw Dimeola was forty years ago when Elegant Gypsy debuted, and he is even better now. Mature, thoughtful, warm and still able to hammer it when necessary in his characteristically fluid lines. The band, mostly younger players, were amazing. Refreshing to be able to see and listen to one of the premier young guns from the early days of fusion re-present what was so exciting about this music in the first place. Loved it!

Al DiMeola is a legendary guitarist. The fact that it is the 40th Anniversary tour of the Elegant Gypsy album (his 2nd solo record) and that he still commands the intricate incredibly fast guitar licks and solos he is known for is amazing. He joked and played with the audience. His respect for and the mutual admiration of his band mates is testimony to their love of the music they created together. The Parker Playhouse is one of the best venues in South Florida for intimate concerts. The sound was dialed in. This concert was one of my favorite nights out in South Florida in recent years and I see a lot of live music. It was a standout show. From seeing him at 18 on the Passion Grace & Fire Tour in 1983 until now all I can say is I'll never miss an Al DiMeola show.

The show was a little late, but played long and hard, with one intermission, Senior Mouse, The Magician, and great new stuff, (If you haven't let the binary reach you, you are missing a whole new thing). In this performance I found signatures of songs fit directly into other songs and the craftsmanship was outrageous! these guys are a team, one that can play at champion status, If it were a game. Lots of Seventies stuff like Casino and Gypsy. But to hear this stuff, Its all new, thanks to the arrangements you get 4 hours of music in 2 ! You must be fully alert to catch the savvy! Carolina Theatre was a great venue for an intimate evening with the one and only Al DiMeola. Parking was exceptional and due to a forecast of 6 inches of snow the theater was not over crowded. Al played for 2.5 hours with a short break and bantered with the crowd all night. He introduced multiple songs in Spanish (that always translated to "no more snow"!) and demonstrated his prowess on the guitar as he has for more than 30 years. The mixing was top notch as were his bandmates. Definitely one of the best shows I have seen in many years.

What a great set for his return to electric guitar. There was a mild delay during Senor Mouse due to technical issues with his pedalboard, about which he jested was originally the reason that he gave up his indomitable prowess and creativity on the electric for acoustic so many years ago. I will listen to whatever he plays. Al was in rare form otherwise and they re-booted by performing Senor Mouse again even better than the first time. The highlights of the show for me were Senor Mouse near the beginning of the set, the acoustic solo work in the middle and, for obvious reasons, Race with Devil to cap the night off. The entire band was in lockstep unison and fed really well off each other, given the technical issues, and I would say the problems may have added to the entertainment factor as Al kept us all laughing during the hiccups with pokes at his guitar tech and roadie as they nearly take center stage for a portion of the act. The meet and greet after the show was absolutely the best part. Al came out about 10 mins after the show ended and took pictures and signed autographs with the VIPs which included a free signed copy of Elegenat Gypsy on CD (Made in America, yall!). Mark one off my top 5 bucket list.

And they were on display in full form last night as he played a set of flamenco/latin/jazz fusion with his World Sinfonia group. However, in showcasing pure technical skill, especially in such a complex and arcane musical genre, sometimes melody and accessibility are sacrificed. Songs lasting 6 to 8 minutes can begin to meander and lose focus. With Di Meola and most of the band reading from sheet music most of the night, it had the feel of a recital excercise, perfectly executed, but not exposing the soul of his musical muse. His interplay with accordionist Fausto Beccalossi was at times delicate and delicious, as during "Michelangelo's 7th Son". However, the accordion has a limited sonic range which risks monotony, and I found myself thinking some songs would be better served with a respite from its singluar tone. A welcome addition to the set list was his arrangement of "Strawberry Fields Forever", rendered on his PRS electric. The recognizable structure and melody anchored the song and welcomed the audience in. More succinct pieces like this would have been a better showcase for Di Meola's mastery.

Al and his band were terrific, he was very entertaining in every way and Evan Garr, the violinist was spot on, his soloing and dueling w/ Al were the highlight of the show in my opinion. It was a great night of music, and Al was pretty funny with his banter also. I had a great time. I was pretty disappointed that Brand X did not perform as the opening act, as scheduled.

The same guy who played legendary guitar music with Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin has been reduced to hard rock which, although interesting, is annoying. The audience was bombarded with both ear-splitting sound and blinding spotlights; I had to leave at intermission.

The musicians were great, the only comments is that when setting up the sound, it was too loud, impossible to listening it carefully. I left before the show ended because I couldn't bear it.

This was the best show I ever saw with Al DiMeola Band. What was impressive was the wide range of music chosen for this tour. Heard some favorites from the past but also was impressed the RTF Romantic Warrior, Solo Beatles, and new music. Even though Race with Devil on Spanish Highway is a standard, glad he did not do that. The best part though was the Elegant Gypsy tunes to incorporate violin. What a great combination when they performed harmonized portions of the melody.

Thoroughly enjoyed Al Di Meola's music. He did a mix of electric and acoustic, some old hits and some numbers from his new and upcoming album. And his band is a hoot! The percussionist was a character and the violinist we phenomenal. Even his sound guy/stagehand gets in on the act. Our seats were in front of a stack of speakers that blocked our view, though. I'm short, so if it hadn't been for the giant screen beside us, I wouldn't have seen anything going onstage. Also, the seats were uncomfortable.

Show was good, music was awesome as usual. for a small venue it was super load, almost to the point where it was sounding distorted. I have seen Al 8 times and he never disappoints.

He's still the king of speed and clarity. His violin player and utility percussionist stole the show.

Been following Al DiMealo since early 80's & saw him live when he toured with Paco de Lucia & John McGlocklin. The guy is a ridiculously professional, true musician. I love the Blues, but to be honest, it's Kindergarten vs Graduate School. The jazz fusion Al & his fellow virtuoso band mates play is so complex & intricate, it amazes me, as a non-musician. Before he even started, he introduced & gave a little background on each, showing how much he values each.

I haven't seen Al Dimeola in 40 years and he is as fast and fabulous as I remember, unbelievable! The show was terrific. Even my husband loved it and he usually hates concerts.

I have been listening to Al since 1980 and my affection for his music and playing ability increases over time. The man doesn't seem to age yet he is 62 yrs. He is one of coolest and most humble artists I have seen. Any time Al comes to town,I will be there. His band was top notch as usual and his violinist was giving me visions of Jean Luc Ponty in his playing abilities. Was a great show with a touch of cannabis in the air. Never thought I would ever see Al do Zeppelin but he cranked out a fine version of Rock n roll with his fiddle player handling the vocal arrangements on the violin, which was very cool, perhaps Jimmy should give him a call. If you've never seen him, do yourself a favor and go! If you've never heard him run out and pick up Kiss My Axe or Tirami Su or, well you get the point. Just an amazingly talented artist.

The venue for Al Di Meola's concert on February 12th, was on the money. It was comfortable, big enough to handle the crowd but felt small and personal. Al's performance was awesome - my first Al Di Meola concert but not my last. The musicians performed as if they had played together for twenty years - they were outstanding! The violinist (can't remember his name) was neck-in-neck in terms of popularity with Al; his performance was jaw dropping! The young man has what it takes to go big in the industry..... After this performance, I have become a bigger fan of Al's music. He managed to make the audience feel right at home, being very personal with his private life (the birth of his daughter). He also managed to play for close to 2 1/2 hours without hesitation. Whenever he comes back to South Florida, I will be front and center to listen to his performance.

Tight Tight Tight! I Just saw this show in Ft. Lauderdale, Al Di is touring with five burning musicians- Keys, Vio, Bass, Drums & percussion. We need to support this incredible music & take a youngster. out of my four daughters at least one of them doesn't understand Rap, my thirteen year old & I left this show with our heads spinning from being punched by AL & his band with incredible Melody, Changes & dynamics. They Played the entire Elegant Gypsy recordings intertwined around many others, The band was having fun playing 2.5 hours, 3 encore Tunes & I believe the last tune ( Herbie Hancock's 4 AM) they played because the SE Florida crowd was actually good (Usually LAME!) from a Detroiters point of view. ONE of the best shows I have seen in SE Florida! This Area needs more Jazz Fusion!

All of the players delivered virtuoso performances. Al Di Meola received a thunderous standing ovation and generously played an additional three of four pieces to a crowd that was on its feet. No one wanted the concert to end. I think we were there two hours and listened to great electronic and acoustic pieces. A GREAT show! The sound in the room was perfect. This is a very good and comfortable venue with comfortable seats, easy access, and available parking. I will be looking for things to see at this location.
