Remember Jones was just AMAZING! the hardest working band in show biz. South Side did not disappoint, played fir hour and half!! Which is unheard of late fir him. the weather was great, brought me back to 1979. Asbury park is back!

That guy sure earns his money. A hard hitting high energy show at Penn's Peak last night. Only complaint was the sound man needs to be in front of the band instead on the stage to the right of the band. The sound was way too loud and it didn't have to be that way. Otherwise, Penn's Peak is a great place to see ANY show.

as usual,southside put on a great show ,played for ove 2 hours and never took a break,i love seeing shows at Penn's Peak and never had a bad expierence there, even though the show was very good, i was very surprised at the low turnout, fans missed out

The opening act (Delta Moon) had another stellar performance. As always, Delta Moon, hit the stage with energy, smiles and lots of appreciation for the crowd. Southside Johnny gave a nice performance and got the Birchmere rocking. Overall, the night was a great success and I can't wait to see the bands return for another performance.

Initially, I was a little skeptical about seeing this band on Broadway with all the commercial trappings. That all changed the minute I entered the club. B.B. King's is a great venue and the band was playing to a hometown crowd. The musicians were "lock-step" from start to finish and the energy never waned. Fantastic!

On a beautiful summer evening in rejuvenated Asbury Park, Southside Johnny rocked the Stone Pony outdoor Summer Stage with about 2 and a half hours of upbeat, goodtimes music. They started off the show by playing the entire album, "Men Without Women", the first solo album by Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. I expected this to mean a guest appearance by Steve Van Zandt, and I was right, although it came later in the show. Steven stayed on for about 5 songs, trading vocals with Southside. They ended the show with the traditional "having a Party," and two three-song encores included some interesting choices; Aretha Franklin's "Without Love" and an unexpected side trip into the Stone's "Let it Bleed" in the middle of their final song, "Love on the Wrong Side of Town." Southside Johnny in Asbury Park on Fourth of July weekend - it doesn't get more Jersey than that.

NEVER the same set twice, you are guaranteed a fun evening of great songs, fantastic playing and a helluva lot of laughs. Johnny's ability to engage an audience is like none other. I will go just about anywhere to see this band. No joke. If you love music, you must go to a Jukes show. If you don't love music, by the time you get out of a Jukes show, you will. Promise.

Made the trip from Ohio to Jersey to see Southside Johnny at the Stone Pony! I have seen Southside many times over the years. His voice has 'aged' over the years but the passion and quality of his shows remains top notched! Played for 2.5 hours mixing new songs with the hits that you want to hear! Awesome venue, awesome performer (and the Jukes as well!), awesome show! PS - opening act, Remember Jones, is definitely a band to see if they are in your area. High energy, quality music, great entertainer!

We saw Remember Jones and Southside Johnny on July 7th, Remember Jones was great during their somewhat short set. Southside seemed off, sound was terrible during most of the concert. He seemed to be off key most of the time.

Southside always puts on a good show and this was no exception . The problems arose with overcrowding and performance times . The tickets purchased from Ticketmaster stated a 5PM start time. The opening act did not come on until 6:30PM and Southside didn't start till somewhere around 8pm. If the 5PM time was only a doors open time it should have been stated with a 6:30 PM start time.

Show was great - I don't think I've seen Southside any better, and I've seen him many many times. A beautiful evening to be outdoors, and the band killed it for the crowd. The venue did a good job managing the facility and the crowd.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes were fantastic on Friday night at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. Southside sang all of his oldies but goodies (brought back a ton of college memories) and the band did a great job backing him. It was the opening night of this tour and they seemed to be on the same page. It was my first time at The Birchmere. A pretty cool honky tonk like environment with table seating and the food was awesome (I had the brisket sandwich and deviled eggs). The beer was ice cold and sold at a reasonable price. Had a really great time. Thank you.

Johnny was full of energy and in a good mood as the last stop of a long tour. It was the best show since W Palm last year at BB King. A great mix of his hits, Talk to me, Having a Party, Fever, Hearts of Stone. mixed with his great covers including Walk Away Renee, and Stones Tunes. Missed hearing Vertigo and Trapped Again- Won't you come to Florida for a Vacation? How do you not do that when in FLA? Played the blues harp and the audience with enthusiasm. The Jukes as always were great. Nice to be in a venue where people can get up and dance (on the sides) It is hard to sit still when the music is groovin. Thanks to SS for keepin South Florida on the tour schedule. God knows we have plenty of people from Jersey right here in South Florida, especially on a holiday weekend. True to his roots, still the best "bar band on the planet " and proud of it!

I saw a playlist from a concert two weeks previous from my date. 5-6 covers! I was praying we would not have a repeat.....and we did not. This was almost all Southside. Better know your Southside at this show. He did a wide range of his songs. Great show lots of fun. I am not the biggest fan of BB Kings set up. But this was a great show. Thanks

The last time I saw Southside Johnny was 15yrs. ago. It is so good to see they are still Rocking It! everyone around me was "Having a Party". They were moving and grooving all night. Southside may have lost some of his voice but the band is as terrific as ever. They started promptly at 8 and had to stop after 2 hours because of a curfew . They played a couple of new songs but mostly their greatest hits. The curfew prevented an encore but they must ve played about 18-20 songs.

With stormy skies clearing just after the Weight Band finished a spectacular tribute to The Band which also included a blistering Atlantic City cover which Mr Springsteen would have been proud of, a full rainbow trans descended just off the Asbury Park boardwalk. Johnny Lyon came on stage just after 8.20 and warned the crowd the show may be cut short due to a threat of lighting. The weather did not put a halt to proceedings and 2 hours 20 minutes later Southside and Jukes rounded off a truly amazing night with Kitty's Back. I've always imagined and dreamed of watching Bruce Springsteen rock the Pony however Southside was a great substitute and a true gem. Pure Gold.

Opened with the Gary Douglas Band - they were excellent! Then SSJ came on - excellent show! Everyone was in rare form, especially Johhny, who was quite "on" as far as his comments (told the keyboard player - a stand-in to "shut the F up when he kept playing after the rest of the band stopped. This year's show was a let down compared to last year! Too many slower boring songs, didn't pick it up until end of show. A lot of people were talking & not paying attention while he was playing a lot of songs. That's usually not a good thing. However, we still enjoyed the show & always love the outdoor shows at the Stone Pony! Fans without tickets were on balconies & lined up in the streets standing & sitting listening & peaking thru the fence to get a free glance.

Random thoughts: Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes mix rock with R&B in an energetic 2+ hour show. I have been listening to their music since the '70s but this is my first live experience. Not my last, I hope. The venue was the perfect size for Johnny to connect with the audience. And connect he did, with elements that evoke the spirit of a shore bar party. He talked to us, not at us. Johnny has the rock voice. He is a showman. He is an entertainer. He is from Ocean Grove, N.J. and proud of it. He wears Chucks. Southside and the Jukes should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They have delivered the best of he genre for decades. SSJ is still out there, still on tour, still playing the music that reminds us that being young is great and getting older is a joy.

If I could sum up the entire weekend using only one word, it would be "amazing"! Johnny and the Jukes worked extremely hard to pull these shows off. The themes chosen were well thought out. It must have been difficult to pick out which songs to play, as there were sooo many to choose from ! Every one of the Jukes were in top form on both nights. The camaraderie between Johnny and the band was palpable- they were doing what they do best, and were having a great time on the stage. The audience really got into the performances. It was one of the best- if not THE BEST- rock and roll weekends ever !

The Carolina Theatre is such a fantastic venue for a concert. The sound quality is excellent, seats are comfortable, parking right across the street (for $3.00!), in a well lit area with lots of eating establishments. My seat was sixth row back from the stage, middle of the theatre. I have seen Southside many, many times, as I grew up in the same area and era as Johnny Lyons and Springsteen. I have had front row and the back of a concert house and everything inbetween. This show was one of THE best I have seen. The guys were really enjoying themselves onstage which had the crowd even happier. Almost like feeding off each other's energy, the show just plain rocked. Some of the songs seemed like last minute choices, not well "rehearsed", but just like watching a garage band practicing, it made the guys look like real people, like our friends. Over two hours of having a good time the guys finally relented and said they had to call it a night. I think they wanted to stay and play as much as we wanted them to. Looking forward to seeing them here again, and I'll pay the extra few dollars for another fantastic seat.

The sound was amazing definitely the best love band I've ever seen over the years. It's always nice to see the Jersey shore rock band that made the Stone Pony what it is today. Can't wait to see another show very soon.

We went to the Southside Johnny and Asbury Jukes concert at the Southern Theater in Columbus. This is the 14th time I have seen Southside in the last 40 years. I can say that I have never seen Southside and the Band have so much fun on stage before. He has more than 150 recorded songs so each set list is unique although he always does the favorites. In addition, he likes to mix in some cover tunes which he did that night. I think he has come to a point in his life in which he really just wants his audience to have a good time as we all get older. The Southern Theater is a gem. It's beautifully restored. The seats are comfortable. The sound was very good, and the facilities were very accommodating.

Southside was sultry, raspy and real. He played most of his hits- but Trapped Again never came. His band was engaging and we all had a blast.. The fair price of $30 made it even more satisfying!

The South is best as a bar band, and even though this wasn't a bar, he made it feel like you got together with a bunch of friends after far too long a time. The band was tight and soulful and Johnny's superb voice was everything it needed to be, especially in emotional moments like "Fever" and "Hearts of Stone."

Was one of the better SSJ shows I have seen in awhile. John truly seemed to be enjoying his time on stage. A lot of stories and talking....which I love.Being the first show of the tour his voice was a bit off at the start but by Stagger Lee which was a great rendition he was right in there.Lots of fun ...a good time with a good crowd.

First time I've seen Southside live. My wife just loves them, I enjoyed their music growing up but was not a huge fan so this was one of her xmas presents. Lot of energy in the room and Johnny is a very good front man. He seems to really enjoy performing and does so with a sense of humor. He doesn't take himself to seriously and we had a really good time. His voice seemed a little more limited than what you would expect but the band was very good and we really like that Jersey sound.

Excellent show by Johnny and the Jukes. Concerned about comment of a venue "curfew" the band made and appeared to ignore, coming back on stage for a couple of songs after the house lights went up. I love the venue at the Rocksino, traveling from Toledo, however, if the venue is going to limit the bands, they need to remember the only reason I go to the Rocksino is concerts/shows. If you make the shows less enjoyable, I won;t have any reason to even show up at the casino

Grew up on Southside and the Jukes. Have seen them many times dating back to the late \u201870 s. This show was sold out and very difficult to maneuver in the Pony. Southside and his rag tag band played most of their hits to the crowd s delight, but Southside s voice has seen better days. Not a knock on him, he s a legend, just being objective.

8:00pm to -9 pm a folk signer from England played getar / sung 9:15 to10:30 we all sat, drank (you could buy drinks & popcorn).No piped in music or entertainment. 10:30 to 12:15 E street band played. South Side Jonny seemed to be disoriented or maybe just disorganized. Sound was way to loud (this was my 3rd concert of the year) acoustics were not up to standards of the Count Basie.

This was my first experience of Southside Johnny's annual New Years Eve show at the Basie. It did not disappoint. His band puts on a high energy show and the crowd of fans loves it. While Southside's voice is a little more gravelly than his earlier years, this adds to the act - he is a master of Blues Rock. The Count Basie Theater, while acoustically excellent and a beautiful auditorium lacks one important attribute - comfortable seating. As a tall person it is difficult to be in anything but an aisle seat in the orchestra, and no seats in the balcony can accommodate anyone taller than probably 5' 9".

This was my 15th year of spending New Years Eve with SSJ. I find it a lovely way to bring in the New Years, and truly enjoy the get up and move factor of the show. I'm dedicated to continuing my tradition as long as Johnnie can preform this show. I do hope the warm up act's will be able to warm us up a bit better next year.

This was our 9th time going to Count Basie to bring in the New Year with Southside and the Jukes. Not sure where Johnny's head was at, but the show seemed very disjointed. We were there to party and for every song that had us ready to rock, it seemed that there were two singing the blues. Not one of his best - bummer New Year

I am a long time fan of SSJ and had put off going to the NY Eve concert for too long. The band and SSJ are such talented musicians it was great to watch. I wish the venue had more room in the seating, my knees were pressed into a metal bar the entire night. I did not like the amount of audience participation in the songs; prefer to hear the act singing, there were so many songs I craved hearing but dragging out the songs made for a less than great night for me.

We've seen the band 5 or 6 times over the last couple years and this show was by far the best. They were really on, and they played a wide variety of songs including tributes to those rock stars who passed in 2017. The crowd was happy so it made for a rollicking good time.

This is my first time in past 25 years to see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes in NYC, 25 years ago ,It was @ Ritz on New Year's Eve . Suthside Johnny became old and me ,too However, energy and sprit of Rock'n Roll still alive and burning. I really really enjoyed the show. Thank you very much for great show.
