Mr. Saadiq and his talented band put on a great show. I wished I could've stayed a little longer because I heard they came back for an encore. But overall, I have no complaints. He played songs from Tony Toni Tone, Lucy Pearl and my favorites from his solo albums. If he's coming to your city, go see him!

After hearing reviews of his performances at SXSW and seeing various TV appearances and videos, I was expecting a far more dynamic show. Raphael's regular female backup singer (a dynamo) wasn't there, nor was the large horn section I've seen behind him at other gigs. He didn't even move around all that much. In short, the show was enjoyable enough -- I still like his voice and his style -- but it failed to leave me with that energized buzzy joy that I look for during and after live performances.

The concert was exciting and hi energy. It was well worth the money and more. I've been a fan since he was with the group. I would go and see him again!! The only thing I wish he would have song 1 or 2 more of the old songs (Anniversary & It Never Rains In Southern California).

IT "FEELS GOOD" TO SEE HIM GROWNING AND BRINGING BACK OLD SCHOOL R&B WITH THE FLAIR THAT ONLY THE 'KING OF NEOSOUL' CAN. WHAT A RISK TAKER! HE MAKES ME PROUD TO BE FROM OAKLAND. WHO ELSE DO YOU KNOW THAT COMES BACK ON STAGE AND DOES A 4 SONG ENCORE. HE'S THE BEST... AMAZING... AND HE WAS DRESSED IMPECCABLY! LONG LIVE THE KING.... (smile)

Wednesday night's show at the beautiful Fox Theather in Oakland was everything a concert should be! Raphael was at his best! His wonderful, charismatic stage presence is a treat whether you're 3 feet from the stage or in the rear of the theater. The band was tight. I enjoyed how he didn't go through the usual musician's intro where each person does their solo, but rather during the entire show he periodically held up placards with their respective name while they showcased their skills during a song. I will definintely pay to see Raphael again, and again!

What a show! Raphael Saadiq's smooth, unique style brought together a vastly different crowd. While his audience didn't look alike, they all shared a common passion for some GOOD music. Raphael had people dancing all around in a newly intamite Fox Theater. I had an amazing time with my boyfriend, who had never heard his music before. But he surely left a fan! My only wish was that he sang his old "Stilly Ray", but didn't get to it. Besides that, I loved it!

Overall, I enjoyed the concert. The opening act didn't really get the crowd going for Raphael so it took awhile for the crowd to get into the groove. Also, it seemed everyone was tired being a weekday and all. During one of Raphael's songs it seemed like the sound went out on some of the most important instruments. During the song you could only hear the drums thumping. Overall, he and his band gave a very good performance. I loved it! I danced so much my knees start aching!

Great soul music, throw back R&B mixed with Neo-Soul and Hip Hop. Raphael has a presence and voice that takes you to another era, while the lyrics keep you in the present. Plus the band and back up singers are extremely talented in their own right. Great show flawless presentation..Don't miss them.

It was a good show. But i did expect him to sing some of his old songs from toni tone tony. He has great stage presence and a great performer. but lets not forget before he went solo all the hit songs he had with the group. If I we're his manager I would have suggested that he invite the old group and do @ least 2 songs with them. That would have brought the house down. Or he should have done some by himself. Either way it would have been more entertaining.

Genius and ultimate entertainer. Raphael Saadiq was innovative, entertaining, artistic, outstanding. I am so proud of his accomplishments and being able to stand on his own music, without the neccessity to rely on Toni, Tony, Tone; although he was the man at that time. As an Oakland native, he did us very proud. He deserved the love and the turnout on a Wednesday night. Keep up the good work.

Show was nothing less than phenomenal. Unforgettable. Electric. Saadiq s band was incredible and the showmanship was impressive. If you re looking for a true \u2018Motown style of performance, you can t get any closer than this. It was like seeing a Motown act in their prime. Plus, if you re a true fan of his music, the musical arrangements and song selection was superbly top notch. They really jam the songs out and turn them in actual performances, instead of playing the note-for-note, bar-for-bar, lick-for-lick recording versions. It s a real treat for those who are familiar with his extensive catalog of great songs. Only slight downside is he didn't play Tony!Toni!Tone! songs. Not a big deal though. The Fox Theater was also impressive. It was my first time there, but I d like to see more shows there in the future. Layout of the venue is really stylish with a number of bars in the main floor show room. For any band you re a fan of, I d recommend seeing them there if you can.

I will keep this short. Saadig and his group put on an excellent show. Unfortunately the sound at The Fox Theater where we were sitting (upstairs, loge) was atrocious. I will very likely be writing the GM of the theater and asking for some compensation - which is VERY unusual for me. Go see Saadig - just make sure they have a professional sound system.

Raphael was great with getting his fans involved. If you were not a fan, you became one after last night. I would like to thank him for representing Oakland in a postive manner and not forgetting where he came from and the struggles he went through to be where he is at. He is the greatest!!!!!!!!! I thought the concert was great. His band was amazingly tight. The backup singers were amazing, and Raphael was on the one. The only reason I did not give the show 5 stars is because he did not play enough of the old hits. He played 1 song by Lucy Pearl, and that was it. I can understand him promoting the current album, but I was expecting a little more. As me and my wife left the show, we noticed that everyone we encountered was saying the same thing. The new album is good, but the oldies were better. Another thing, he leftthe stage too many times.

I am a fairly big Raphael Saadiq fan, so going into this concert I had somewhat high expectations. Also I've been to a wide range of concerts and different performances and really didn't know what to expect from him. Whether he'd do his new stuff, old stuff, Tony Toni Tone stuff? I'd have to simply say he killed it for over 2 hours on stage! Doing a variety of all his music, from lucy pearl to instant vintage, even ray ray and his latest release. He had a full band with multiple instruments and two back-up singers who all were in sync. During the end of the show he said thank you and went off stage while the crowd still continued to give him an ovation. He waited about 2 minutes and came back out on stage to do about 4 more songs! This was probably the second best concert I've ever been to and it only cost me 30$ (jay z cost me 350). Only critique i'd have to say is that he didn't play "still ray" his first single as a "solo" artist that i know of!

I saw Raphael perform 2 years ago as the opener for John Legend at the Tower Theater. I went to see John Legend ,but came away VERY impressed with Raphel Saadiq- enough to purschase tickets for this show. To say that I was dissappointed is an understatement! His style and presentation has changed and not for the better. The acoustics in the venue were horrible, the lighing was bad , over all the show was just LOUD and the performance was just OK with some of his band members and vocalist were missing. All I wanted was my money back. We left before it was over and we won't be going back.

This was my first time at Ram's Head. I received two tickets in the mail for Ticketmasters. The tickets had seat selections. But, alas, Ram's Head is a standing venue! Plus, Raphael took the stage at 10:00, two hours after the show started! Okay if you live in or near B-more. I had an hour and a half ride home and got a few hours sleep before waking for work. Raphael's mic worked erratically, and the band was loud. But besides that, the few songs I heard before having to leave were okay.

If you never witnessed Raphael Saadiq in concert, you are missing a great experience! The opening act was a young lady named Yuna - very sweet with a Corinne Bailey Rae sound. The other act was called Quadron. They are from Denmark - a neo-soul two person act (female vocalist, male keyboardist) - very good - they did a great cover of MJ's "Baby Be Mine" As for Raphael Saadiq, it is rare that you go to a concert and you feel like the live version is as good as the album. He did not disappoint. He covered Stone Rollin (the new CD) the previous album (the name escapes me right now - brain freeze) a little Lucy Pearl and Tony Toni Tone. The down side... It didn't go on all night! As it was General Admission at the Variety Playhouse, seating was first come first serve. Having attended concerts at Variety Playhouse before, I knew exactly where to sit for my personal confort and viewing. Get there early if you prefer to sit, otherwise you will be standing in the front or in the designated aisles on the left and right. Seating is solely in the center of the theater and upstairs. In other words, if you wore stillettos and it was your first time at the Variety, be prepared to soak your feet in Epsom salt!

Bad parking (lack, too distant, and dangerously cramped). Wrong Venue (too small, way too much standing room, and the crowd size probably exceeded the fire limit for the place!). Right Price ($25 online!) Raphael hit all the right chords onstage but he could have had another keyboard player filling in the parts the other wasn't able to cover. (He basically played with a 4-piece rhythm section and 2 singers, and him playing rhythm guitar occasionally. I figure, Raf was on a budget!) Easily the best performances I've seen in years! But next time, I'd review the logistics more before I make a decision to go to that Venue with that kind of Name Talent./Draw.

Having seen Raphael Saadiq perform numerous times, he has become an artist that i will travel to see, I live in Miami, saw him in NYC. I've traveled to shows in San Fran, Oakland, LA, Philly, etc.. He has delivered every time I have seen him and the Webster Hall show was no exception. His new album is fantastic and plays very well live..His band as always is tight and keeps it moving.. The usual complaints are here with the 90 minute show...which aren't really complaints..more songs, more songs, longer show...Basically the man is a professional and with 20+ years performing he knows what he is doing..His catalog is big and it is hard to cram all his music into 90 minutes.. Go see him if you get the chance

Raphael Saadiq may have put on a good show. It sounded like it, but I really couldn't tell. The venue was way over sold and we spent a lot of time trying to hold on to a little real estate in the back of the room. Raphael Saadiq is the man! His stage presence is captivating, his musicianship is off the charts, his energy and positivity is infectious. Plus the crowd at Webster Hall couldn't have been more lively and engaged. Raphael slipped seamless from one song into another. The band was so tight, they nailed every arrangement. At one point, Raphael was in the middle of "Let's Take a Walk Outside," the band shifted on a dime into a different groove, and for the next 20 seconds or so, Raphael was singing Marvin Gaye's "Pride and Joy." And then a second later, they were back into the original song and groove. He took us all to a higher place, and though he played a nice long set, I left the venue wanting more. Bravo!!!

Raphael Saadiq is a star. He comands the stage with great presense, vocals, and songs. My biggest critique lays with his supporting band. Clearly very talented and capable, at times their tone and arrangements where unfocused. Throughout the set, his band poorly executes both progressive rock segues and modern rock riffs. Classic soul and classic rock have a certain and different sound. One needs a particular pocket and the right gear for rock and roll, and these guys "rocked out" like a wedding band; behind the beat, the wrong over-drives, and way too polished. Sorry, Raphael....please stick to soul music with your current lineup.

Raphael Saadiq is an excellent live performer. He sang, he played the guitar, he danced. It was non stop energy, no lulls, so you end up dancing the whole time and this was for over 2 hours. I have to admit I didn't know alot of his new music but it didn't matter because he was so good. Of course my favorite part of the show was when he sang songs from 3Ts, Lucy Pearl and his early solo hits. Everybody was singing along to these songs. It was a great show!

The electricity and stag presence that Raphael Saadiq displays on the Rams Head Live stag was well worth the standing room only concert. If the the Rams Head Live! venue had chairs, people would be bouncing off the roof in order to keep up with the extreme extroverted entertainer. Saadiq's energy level tops the most animated group I have ever seen. His retro group style and lyrics are a breath of fresh air for the music industry. Saadiq attire is sleek, colorful and brighter than the average peacock. I love the way he "Flash". Raphael could easily bring back skinny mini ties and Shark Skin suits any minute now. His music appeal ranges from old school to new school with a melodic R&B. You need to see this brother in action to appreciate the excitement from this talented singer. He is the snap your finger's party!

Great show. He sounded fantastic and the band was slamming. Sang all his hits and performed guitar solos. Feel sorry for those that left before the encore. Raphael did a nice medley of Tony Tone Toni. excellent performance.

I put this in my top 5 shows of all time. As talented as Saadiq is, his backup was right there with him. You haven't seen showmanship like this before.

He opened for Lenny Kravitz. Super awesome show!!! He like actually went on at 8pm and left the stage at like 8:35-8:40pm. We were a little late so we were super bummed. Who actually starts a show on time????? And why was Raphael Saadiq's set sooooo short??? I still loved the show both Lenny and Raphael were the best !! :))

This concert was amazing. From start to finish Raphael Saadiq gave full energy singing all of my favorites as well as songs from his new album. He can play the heck out of the guitar. He still sounds the same. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I was so glad that he came to Philadelphia, and I would not mind going to see him again.

Great energy and excellent show. Only negative that kept me from giving him 5 stars was that the show started 2 1/2 hours late.

My husband and I went to see R.Saadiq. He wasn't into going to see his show due to not remembering whom he was until I said Toni, Toni Toni. This is not normally a show he would go to. After the show I asked "What do you think" his resoponse was he was the talented one in the group (Toni, Toni, Toni). We both enjoyed his show.

The show was FANTASTIC!! Raphael gives you more than your money's worth. He sounds like his CDs and his band is fabulous. He would have sang all night if the venue didn't shut him down....they literally came and got him off the stage and THAT wasn't part of the show! He is one of my favorite artists.

I love Raphael Saadiq and have seen him in concert a few years back on South St. Great performer, but left at 10 when he still wasn't on the stage....maybe I'm getting too old, but I won't wait forever to see an artist, even one of my favorite ones!

Raphael Saddiq is an entertainer, and gave a high energy performance - definitely fun! The Electric Factory is a standing room only venue. We got there at 8pm, but he didn't come on stage until after 10pm. That is a long time period, especially when there is no place to sit down! If the ticket says the concert starts at 8:30pm, I don't think I should have to wait that long.

Rapheal Saadiq was great during his performance, but the fact that he did not perform until around 10pm was unexceptable.

This was my first time seeing Raphael Saadiq and as I was expecting he did not disappoint. His set was great with a mix of old and new. Of course he didn't forget about his Lucy Pearl days and performed a bit of "Dance Tonight" which was one of my favorites. The venue was the perfect size for a very intimate feeling. I would definitely go back in the future and I can't wait for Raphael to come back to NYC so I can see him again.

Raphael definitely put on a show. His energy, performance, and involvement with the audience were impressive. He incorporated tracks from his new release with some of the tracks from the past. For those that were not familiar with the new tracks you were still able to follow the vibe and listen to the lyrics clearly. (Some artists rush through songs or just mumble.) His sound is unique and especially appreciate that the songwriting was creative, fresh, and innovative despite speaking to common topics. Some may list him as "old school" but I believe he transcends the musical timeline. His background singers were outstanding. These people can sing flat out. The band was not fighting to be heard and thus achieved an ideal balance of beat, background, lyrics, and performance. The crowd was very diverse but was surprised this event was not sold out and packed to the rafters. It was crowded but comfortable. The ladies definitely came dressed to get their two step on. Security was cordial and firm. The bartenders were responsive and didn't water the drinks down. The space was clean and different from what I remembered it from a few years back (might just be that my last visit was after midnight while this was earlier in the day). Would definitely see him in concert again!!!

very good concert, great atmosphere on stage and in the public, excellent singers and musicians. + very nice opening part. I still regret that despite an excellent sound system, the sound level has to be set so high that averted listeners need to be wearing ear protection so as to be able to continue enjoying concerts in the future...
