Motion City Soundtrack

Since bursting onto the scene in the early '00s with the rollicking single \"The Future Freaks Me Out\", pop punk rockers Motion City Soundtrack have continually impressed fans and critics alike with their shout-along hooks, punchy drums, and battling guitars. In concert frontman Justin Pierre belts out emo-tinged, tongue-in-cheek lyrics with his signature falsetto, infusing each song with raw emotion that's perfectly complemented by the band's infectious exuberance. Especially entertaining is keyboardist Jesse Johnson, who hops over his keys, cranks out the cowbell, and mans the moog synthesizer, which has become a staple of the band's ...

Great venue, been there multiple times. Clean, easy to find, easy to park, great restaurants nearby. This place has it all! Cozy, feels like a private performance, as you can get up close and personal, always a good time! Motion city was great! Small crowd (guessing because of Phili show being announced much sooner) It was so bitter sweet to watch though, knowing it will be for the last time. They played everything I hoped they would. Totally worth going! Good bye guys! Thank you for the memories!

Every time they play in Clifton Park they bring that intensity that gets everyone fired up. They sound amazing and I can't wait until they come back. It's always one giant sing-along and it makes you feel like part of something special. The opening bands ( Sorority Noise and The Spill Canvas) were great and a lot of people were begging for more Spill Canvas ( and Motion of course). If you weren't there, you missed one awesome show..

As always, an amazing show from my sensitive homeboys!! They played a lot of the new stuff but also worked a ton of tracks from all their previous albums into it... overall a delicious concoction of motion. So much love!

I saw them as an opening band for Panic @ Festival Pier and they were AMAZING! First of all, their music sounded fantastic live, and their stage presence was awesome. They interacted exceptionally well with the crowd, and were humorous and quirky. I can't wait to see them again in February! :)

Literally! They were bouncing all over the stage while playing those melodious tunes impeccably. They were an opening band for Panic at the Disco and I left that concert with the fondest memory of them. They are great live, if they play near you I definitely recommend you to give a listen.

The openers were Brick & Mortar and William Beckett (formerly of The Academy Is...), and it was a diverse, but excellent performance. Brick & Mortar was totally new to me. They're just a duo, but with the assistance of some prerecorded instrumentation (bass & drums were played live), they had a full and fairly unique sound. I was really surprised by how good they were. William Beckett then played an acoustic set, which was excellent. He's a charming guy and was able to hold the crowd's attention very well. He played some solo stuff as well as a few The Academy Is... selections. Motion City Soundtrack was full of fun energy. They're not the rock-your-face off type of band, but they did an excellent job of keeping the energy up and the crowd engaged. This is among the most crowd-sings-every-word concerts I've been to. Just a bunch of people celebrating music that's important to them. It was well-worth it.

I saw Motion City Soundtrack for the first time on the 2005 Vans Warped Tour. I only managed to see one song but remember being amazed at how good they were. They came to Louisville 10 years later for the Commit This To Memory 10 year anniversary tour, and it was everything I could have imagined -- incredible energy (even though the Louisville crowd wasn't giving much energy back to the band) and very well done sound -- the sound guy was excellent, it would have been hard to tell the difference between the actual album and the live performance! Kudos to the band for putting on such a tight, energetic show. These dudes are truly talented and it was a real thrill to see them in my hometown. This was one of my all time favorite shows, and believe me, I've been to more than I can begin to remember or recount.

Both opening bands (Now Now and Jukebox the Ghost) were really good and full of energy and set up MCS very well. Motion City Soundtrack played some of their new stuff but didnt insist on playing only new stuff to plug their new album, they spread it out over everything and really knew how to jam. I have seen several bands live and this show was seriously one of my all time favorites. See them the first chance you get!

This show was so great. The band had awesome energy, and sounded better live than recorded. I had never seen them before, and was impressed by their stage presence. The crowd was very excited and into it, but not excessively rowdy. The venue was perfect and made the show feel intimate. Awesome night of really good music.

This was the first time I have ever gotten to see Motion City live, but have been a fan for about 8 years. It was everything I hoped it would be! They played a mix of songs from all 5 albums and rocked all of them. Even the one or two slower songs were great and didn't kill the energy. Also, they change their set list for each show, which is really exciting your fans who know all the songs. After the show, they take the time to sign and take pics with everyone! Truly amazing band!!!

I had VIP tickets for this event which entitled me to an autographed poster, a laminated event pass, and a cute pin. Also, there was a 3 song acoustic set by the band, a q and a session and everyone got to take a pic with them, and give them each a quick hug if they wanted. The venue itself was one of the coolest and classiest small venues I have ever been to. The stage itself seemed alot more spacious than the venue where I saw them the night before. The acoustics were great. There was actually SOME seating available in the balcony, not much but it was a great surprise. They also had food available. It was absolutely delicious. I know I was there for a concert, but the extra treat of great food was a bonus. Now for the band. Justin started alone. Playing and singing a song I didn't know, called bak to the beat. He sounded great. The band of course joined in for the rest of the show which was fantastic. Any true fan of MCS knows that their live shows are a real treat. They ended the show as they have ever other on this "so long" tour with The Future Freaks Me Out as the finale of the encore . So bitter sweet for me, and them, and so many others in the crowd. We were feeling all of the emotions, as JCP is fond of saying Opening acts Roswell Kid, and A Great Big Pile Of Leaves were also great!!!

MCS is an absolute treat to see live. They hammered through about 23 or so songs, with little time wasted on making jokes for the crowd. The venue, unfortunately, just doesn't have a very good (large enough) pit area for a show like this. Very hard to see the stage if you're not in the pit or have a VIP seat.

Pretty much a perfect MCS show. The crowd was enthusiastic and just the right mix of rough and calm, the band seemed in a great mood, and played a long, varied setlist full of hits (and heavily favoring their early albums, including my two favorites, Commit This To Memory and Even If It Kills Me). I'm so sad that these guys are breaking up, cause this tour shows that they have a lot of life left in them. I can't wait to see them one last time in Jersey in August.

It's never fun to say goodbye to a band that you have a strong attachment to, but if ever there was a way to do it, I would say Motion City Soundtrack nailed it. The played all their 'greatest hits' but also threw in a song from their newest record. They all had tons of energy on stage and were clearly still loving the music they play, even if touring had clearly burned them out over the years. Justin did at times, mention the fact that even he was still in shock that the countdown had begun before the guys hung up their instruments. It all felt very real and sincere and they made the show about the music, not about trying to wax poetic about their split. I'm sure they will be back one day, and when they are I'll be sure to grab a ticket.

Outstanding show, fantastic performance from the band. The only thing that dampened the experience for me is that there were a ton of people who didn't seem that into it. EVEN PEOPLE IN THE FRONT ROW. Didn't even move. Just...stood there. What the hell is that all about?

Great, late Saturday night show. We made the 2 hour drive from Louisville to see Motion City Soundtrack on their final tour. My wife and I have each been to 6 of their shows now, and this was the best. All the hits and almost every thing we wanted to hear. We both would have loved it if they played Pulp Fiction, but that was the only minor negative we had about the show. We'll miss you guys.

So far I've seen several shows on this farewell tour and my only disappointment is that it's their final tour. Motion City Soundtrack is an exciting band live. The emotion and feeling the band throws into every song is electrifying. Helping this is the connection their fans make with the songs, shouting along with every word. More people should be following them. MCS will be sorely missed.

Sorority Noise, The Spill Canvas, and Motion City Soundtrack at Upstate Concert Hall was a night to remember. The high energy, tunes that brought nostalgia, and the professionalism onstage was evident. MCS brought the house down with an hour and a half performance of recognizable tunes that got everyone singing along. While Sorority Noise has not been around as nearly as the other two bands, their talent and stage presence was just as impressive. The Spill Canvas did their best tunes in a rather short set, and were also very easy to talk to afterwards.

Now Now, Jukebox the Ghost, and Motion city soundtrack. My boyfriend and I went to finally see Jukebox the Ghost live, and we were happy that motion city soundtrack would be there. I was afraid I wouldn't like the first band Now Now, but I was extremely pleased! I thought they were really good! Usually I don't care for bands with girl vocals but they are an exception and definitely worth checking out. Jukebox the Ghost was the band we went to see, they were the other opener to Motion City Soundtrack. Honestly, they exceeded my expectations. It made me happy to hear the people around me who didn't know them say that they were really talented and of course everyone got really into it once they started playing their fun songs! It was also really nice to get to shake their hands and talk to them or take pictures with them in the back of the room when they were done performing if you wanted. And of course Motion City rocked the house and EVERYONE in the room was having a great time jumping and singing along! It was nice getting to meet the people in the bands that we wanted to and the Masquerade is a really neat venue. It looks a little questionable from the outside, but the inside was really cool and the whole thing was fun. A night I will remember for a long time. I would recommend anyone go to the Masq to see a band you enjoy. 10 out of 10 for Now Now, Jukebox, and Motion City.

But this time was just as amazing as any other. MCS have always been a great band to see live. Their energy is contagious, the boys themselves are adorably sweet, and they play their songs with album-like quality. Saw a few songs by Now Now and was pretty impressed. It was nice to see girls in a band not done up like Nicki Minaj and concentrating on their playing. And this was my first time seeing Jukebox the Ghost but it definitely won't be my last. They were absolutely incredible! Furious on the piano, all around awesome songs and the House of Blues cut their set short and they were so bummed they couldn't play the whole song I Wanna Dance With Somebody that they played the first verse and chorus before jumping into the new song. If you ever get the opportunity, by all means buy your ticket and get a chance to dance your butt off to some catchy tunes.

My friends and I really came to see Jukebox the Ghost, one of the openers, but Motion City was sooooo good, and we're really happy Jukebox is coming back early next year!

I go to concerts a lot. Like, this is a major hobby for me. So, don't take it lightly when I say this was the best show I have ever been to. Ever. Motion City Soundtrack was absolutely riveting. They were magnetic, they were classy. It was a phenomenal show. To top it off, the drummer and lead singer stayed around after the show to meet the fans. I will absolutely see them next time they're in town.

Amazing amazing show in bg Ohio. They were so sweet and hung out after the show to meet everyone. They are extremely nice and down to earth. The show was perfect, and they played songs from all their albums, not just their new one. Perfect! The opening bands were great too!

This was my 2nd time seeing Motion City and they were just as amazing as the first time. I liked their set list better the first time since they played some new songs that I'm not familiar with yet. The venue was perfect though. Clazelle's never got that packed and me and my girlfriend were able to stand above the "pit" where most people were so she could see better (she's short). Opening bands were good, especially Jukebox the Ghost.

Motion City Soundtrack appears to have a Richmond VA following. Hopefully, they can be booked at the National again. I'd go again and bring friends.

MCS was awesome, they did a great mix of songs from all four of their albums. Always a high energy show that is just as good, if not even better than all the times I've seen them before. Everyone should check them out.

First of all i love the band, the sound was amazing, they were great with interacting with the crowd! they played all my favorites! OVERALL AWESOMENESS! my favorite opener was A Great Big Pile of Leaves. I saw them in Rhode Island when they opened for MCS, definite crowd pleaser.

Motion City had 3 great opening bands. Motion City played all of their awesome songs, both older and newer. People were really excited, with crowd surfers and a few mosh pits. It was better than their concert in Philly. Meeting Justin was awesome too, I was able to get a picture with him. It was the best concert I've been to in a long time.

I've seen this band a number of times but it was incredible to see them in the intimate Cambridge Room, two nights in a row, hearing all four of their albums. It was like a giant sweaty dance party & one of the best nights I've had in years.

It was almost too intense. Motion City Soundtrack played every song from all 4 albums (in order) over a 2-night span. It was an amazing experience, but by the end of the second night we were exhausted. The crowd was electric the first night. It wasn't quite as electric the second night, but it still was an enjoyable experience. I think everyone was just getting fatigued by the end of the second night. We were packed tightly into a sardine-can of a concert hall, so it was very hot, sweaty and sticky.

Motion CitySoundtrack was awesome, as always. They interacted with the crowd and in addition to CTTM, they played a bunch of hits. They're openers, however, weren't amazing. But oh well.. We weren't there to see the openers. Ps- kudos for playing all the punk hits from 2005 between sets.

I have been a fan of MCS for years, and have seen them a view times before. This was the best show I have seen them put on. The played Commit This to Memory in its entirety and played a few tracks from other albums at the end. I absolutely loved it. My only complaint would be that the show was scheduled to start at 6:30 and only one opening act was listed. There were 2 opening acts, and the first didn't start until close to 7:30. MCS didn't end up going on until 9:30, but the delay was forgiven because the show was so great.
