This show was horrible. Doors opened at 8 and i think i left at 11 and they still hadnt gone on. There was some dj that looked like ron howard that played for a bit, but all his stuff started to sound the same. all in all i would have rather have stayed home.

Empire of the Sun knows how to play an entertaining show. The set is great with impressive costumes and lots of good back up dancers. The show was a little short and the opening act was just a DJ that wasn't very entertaining

If I could I would follow empire of the sun while they continue there walking on a dream tour. This was the best concert I've ever been to. Luke Steele is a genius in two ways: song writing and performing. This was the best performance ever!!! I recommend this to anyone no matter what age. Empire of the Sun blew my mind!!!

Since they only have 1 album the whole set was only a little past the hour, probably about 1:15.... But it was amazing!! The show is great, the dancers, the colors and how they perform the songs.... epic. Hopefully in the future I get to see them again with a longer set, but a venue such as this, kind of small that is. I'd never been to the Music Box, it's beautiful.

Can't stop talking about this show... Empire of the Sun not only put on a non-stop entertaining performance, but they created a huge party within the venue. Everyone was dancing throughout most of their performance. The dancers and costumes were also incredible. It was a great escape from reality and something I will definitely want to experience again.

one of the biggest reasons i hate pop music is the unnecessary background dancing. last night was a major exception. the choreography actually added to the music and the overall surreal feel of the show. my mind was completely blown. i felt like i was on a different planet. the swordfish dance needs to be seen to be believed. granted, EOTS only have one album, so the concert was short but they more than made up for it with extended or re-worked versions of just about every tune. my only complaint was the extremely loud sound system; especially the bass (too mushy). but it was only a minor annoyance. nick littlemore was also absent but if you re a real EOTS fan, you know what s going on; good luck to him. in the meantime, here s hoping for a much grander performance at next year s coachella.

I had a great time seeing empire of the sun. It is one thing I can check off my list. I wanted to see them last october when they were in DC for a festival, but I was unable to go. So as soon as I saw that they were going to be back in town, I jumped at the opportunity to buy tickets. I wish I would have known earlier though, I would have looked at getting a table on the upper level so that I could see everything. Finally, there are two members in the band but one was only there so, I thought that was weird...unless he was playing guitar in the back ground.

One of my favorite bands out there over the past 10 years. Their live performance is high energy, theatrical, and lives up to the expectation I had seeing their performances on viral video. I was proud to be there and represent the white-middle aged, heterosexual, military veterans community. The crowd was mostly LGBT and hetero-females in their 20's and early 30's. Not trying to "mansplain" (whatever that means) here. Just stating the obvious. I have a variety of friends from all cross-sections of life. The only part of the show that lost me was the "I'm your father Luke" moment where his dad's head pops up on the back screen. The lead singer and dad have dialogue and then the lead singer appears to have a near melt down as he segways into the next song. Daddy issues? This aside, the sound system, dancing, theatrics, musicianship, vocals, and flow of the performance were all outstanding. EOTS seemingly borrow from a number of influences (Bowie, Depeche Mode, Possibly ABBA, NIN, Prince), to come up with an eclectic sound all their own. For music enthusiasts who have an extensive palette, I highly recommend seeing EOTS.

I've been to many concerts in my life but this was an amazing experience. EOTS opened with Friends and DNA. Each song and chorus exploded with lights and smoke, while Luke hit front and center and sang his heart out before a super high energy crowd that jumped with every bass hit, which made your seat shake. It was an amazing sight from above and I can't imagine the way Luke and the band felt during that. The band was tight and the dancers were on point with their costumes, which fit the style of dancing, with the music and visuals. Besides the obvious songs, I'll be Around was another highlight that slowed things up. It was beautiful live and that guitar! Also the songs most people skip sounded great live which was refreshing. I did wish the main synth melody was present for Concert Pitch and the rhythm guitar for Standing on the Shore. At one point Luke smashed his guitar like a rock star! Closed with the anthem Alive, pretty awesome. The sound quality was great. There was a moment of noise during Way To Go but I could not make out if it was part of the performance. I got there when The Avalanches were playing. They are unique and they had a great set. I had to Google them because they were pretty cool. We stayed at The Cosmopolitan so getting in and out was a breeze. They have some interesting art to view though. Getting to our seats was easy. We had the last seats on the top floor on the last row but the way its all designed, we ended up dead center and its actually close to the stage and the bar. Downstairs you stand but wow the energy of the crowd was amazing. For those of us that like to sit and chill or want to bring your child, the top is the way to go.

You have not experienced a concert quite like this one. Empire of the Sun was everything that people said it would be. We sat next to an Australian couple who was really nice and asked us if we has ever been to one of EOS 's concerts to which we let Them know this would be our first and they let us know we were in for a treat! They also mentioned they had seen then at the Hollywood Bowl and that it was a memorable experience. All in all even if you've never heard of EOS I encourage you to go see them at least once. They provide an energetic and visual experience for all.

I have been listening to Empire Of The Sun for years now, and I had been wanting to see them live for a long time. They were playing this year's KROQ Weenie Roast, which was part of the reason we went to that show. I was completely blown away. When you can visualize music, and hear what you visualize, (synesthesia) you get Empire Of The Sun. I couldn't stop listening to them and watching live videos, and we found out they were playing this particular show at the Pacific Ampitheater, my Boyfriend surprised me with tickets! By far the most energetic, fun, happy, beautiful, creative live show that I have ever experienced. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND SEE THEM LIVE!!! They are changing the world one happy song at a time.

Hellogoodbye was a refreshing, fun, playful surprise. Can't believe this great local band got so little support being minutes from their hometown. Barefoot dancing on a Mexican blanket with a ukulele...unguarded and pure. Loved this band much more in person than the music/ videos I've listened to and watched. The whole band was great! Would definitely see them again. Thanks Hellogoodbye for a great show! Empire of the Sun...had mixed feelings. Want to get mad that Nick Littlemore didn't show up because I so enjoy him. I know you can't believe everything you read, but I searched BEFORE buying our tickets because I didn't want to go without him being there. I'll just say: Nick, you were SORELY missed! Hope all is well with you. Kinda like making a long, special, expensive trip to see people you love, they know you're coming, then one doesn't show without explanation...That being said...got greater appreciation for Luke. Seems much of his acts music had to be pre-recorded; voices and riffs... Especially disappointed in the crowd arriving SO late. Showed disrespect for the opener and for Empire... The opener finished on time, voicing such to the crowd, but we had to wait an entire HOUR for Empire to take the stage. It was announced the reason was so many fans were still arriving in the parking lot. Nice for those who cared to arrive on time. Maybe there was an unseen reason for this, can only hope so, but then they took stage and without Nick...definitely disappointing. However, Luke did an awesome show. Theatrics on stage were great. Music sounded good, some especially so. The quality waned near the end but the songs were loved so still enjoyed. The stage props/ dancers/ costumes were great, lighting was great, Luke's headpieces did not disappoint. Wish could have heard more of their musical only pieces like Lux, Etude, and Big Country. They played most big hits I love. Luke took an audience walk which was great fun...as well as gave his visibly proclaimed 'Luke Steele' guitar a beating (not the Who mind you) but he was fun to watch. Would love to see this band again but won't unless there's a way to be certain Nick will show up. The theater was NOT smoke free as promised but guess that's to be expected but REALLY NOT smoke free to an extreme.

Couldn't have asked for a better performance, Empire was so entertaining!! The venue- Hollywood bowl is beautiful, really cool design but unfortunately where I was sitting sec p row 13 the sound was super disappointing. Was getting a slightly delayed sound and didn't feel surrounded by the music it was more like watching and hearing it from a far which made it hard to really get into and dance. Also would have liked it a little bit louder to drownd out everyone talking around us during the show. I imagine closer seats seats make all the difference-reserved for only those who can afford. :/

Their visuals were insane. Empire of The Sun shows there passion for their music and fans on that stage. I was front row at this event and the only thing that bothered me was that all of the fans in the front were just standing there throughout the whole concert. I have to start off by saying that the Las Vegas crowd was absolutely amazing. You could tell they were real fans that wanted to have a good time. Sometimes the band is good and the crowd sucks, so it brings you down. This was not the case. Both the band and the crowd were great. Empire of the Sun is one of the those bands that sound fantastic live and also puts on a great show. Everything from the costumes, to the dancers, to the confetti being thrown on the crowd, left you always feeling entertained. The show was about an hour and forty minutes and every minute was amazing! I would highly recommend anyone to go see them.

Holy cow! I had no idea what I was in for when I went to see them during Life Is Beautiful. To say they were fantastic is a severe understatement. This show was completely amazing. It was like watching a full theater show, but to amazing music and huge sound by Empire Of The Sun. My girlfriend counted eight costume changes that each of the four dancers went through. If you love lights, digital screens, costumes, effects, smoke, confetti pouring down from the ceiling (a first I have ever seen at any live show) then this is for you. It was complete with what I call a "smoke monster" machine (when I saw them at Bonnaroo they used a different smoke for outdoors, it lingered, and created this amazing misty atmosphere that the lights bounced off of. House Of Blues inside show they had to use quick dissipating smoke, but it was still great). The drummer was wearing this insane Romanesque head dress, rocking out and beating on the drum set. This show was amazing, they all lined up at the end and bowed like it was the end of a Broadway show - which was totally deserved.

I loved listening to their music and looking at their pics before. I def made it a point to NOT watch any their videos or Concert videos. I wanted to be surprised at their show. This is a band that not only sings and plays instruments but puts on a performance! TRUE ENTERTAINERS!! I ended up selling my tix for the NOLA show after they added Houston, my city. Houston sold out so quick that I was stuck without any tickets. Without divulging too much I ended up still being able to see them in Houston. I'm still so excited that I got to experience this show and it's def in my top 10 shows of all time!!!

The civic theater on the opening night was nothing short of perfection. From the staff. To decor, lighting, sound, acoustics, all were amazing! The opening act Alpine, had some catchy songs that moved the crowd. Empire of the Sun was one of the best, if not the best live show I have ever seen. This is saying quite a lot considering that over the years I have seen shows such as KISS, U2, Pearl Jam, soundgarden, rage against the machine, white zombie, sting, 311, Marilyn Manson, Alice in chains, guns n roses...and so many more. Empire pulled out all the stops to solidify their place among the Rock Giants! Amazing lights, costumes, props, dancers, vocals, sound, etc. This was made even better being in a smaller venue as you could really feel the energy of everyone there. This was the best birthday ever I am so happy to have shared with my wife!

Empire of the Sun was absolutely amazing! From the interesting costumes to their awesome visuals and theatrical coreography. The opening band, Alpine, was also really nice. They had some nice sounds although the instruments were really overpowering the singers' voices. The Civic is a very nice venue to go to, and it's a bonus that they actually keep the room cold there. The experience was just beautiful. If you pass on an Empire of the Sun show, you're missing out!

I have been a fan since their 'Walking on a Dream' album came out and, of course, was on cloud nine when I found out they were coming to the Twin Cities! The venue really meshed SO well with their costumes and sound. I don't think I've EVER enjoyed a show this much - Luke Steele is simply mindblowing. I think if this show would have been in any other city, it would have sold out immediately - unfortunately no one has really heard of them here, which is great for me (since I'm a bit of a music snob), but, of course, bad for them. I LOVE EOTS - favorite band - hands down. Alpine, the opener, was impressive as well and really complimented EOTS's sound and overall musical direction. They gave a GREAT performance, even though at that point only maybe 1/8 of all seats were filled...

Excellent performance!! Such a great time!! I loved the costumes, lights, and the passion that went into each song!! We were in row F, so we were close to the stage, and I just loved it. I thought the sound wasn't that great though--that it wasn't that amplified. If there were issues when we were in row F, what was the rest of the crowd not hearing? But overall, they're great performers!! LOVED IT!

We were in section W1 and had a tough time hearing the acts. Not seeing, hearing. Everything was muffled, vocals were almost nonexistent. If you want to buy cheap seats, like I did, maybe reconsider. Its almost not worth it. :(

I have been waiting a few years to see Empire of the Sun and I have to say that my jaw was on the floor most of the night. The visulas, dancers and band were out of this world and breathtaking. I could not have asked for a better experience. **Side note ** St. Lucia opened and they were fantastic as well!

Have been a fan for a long time, always stunned by their crazy album art and the show graphics and costumes were no exception! Sound could have been mixed slightly better but still sounded awesome. They sound just as good live as their albums. St. Lucia was great too, such great songs and great performance!

I bought cheap tickets to see Empire of the Sun at the Hollywood Bowl on a whim, after listening to their albums and really enjoying the music. The show itself seemed great and pretty good but our seats were just so far away that the volume wasn't loud enough and I felt so detached. This is more an indictment of the Hollywood Bowl as a "legendary" venue than Empire of the Sun. If I was much closer I think I would have enjoyed the show a lot more. Obviously, that's true at any venue, but I feel the disparity is much greater at the Bowl. Unless you have the really expensive box seats, you're practically in another zip code. I did appreciate the BYOB nature of the event, however.

I really loved this concert!!!! The light show and performances of the opening act as well as the main event were so good. It was my first time at the Hollywood Bowl and it was a great experience. We had good seats and a great view. The music was fantastic.

I dont know if there was a problem with the sound or it was part of the show. It seemed like the sound was coming in and out. It wasnt very loud either. The show was amazing. The dancers, the visuals, the music was on point like one should expect from Empire.

Huge fan of Empire of the Sun and first time visit to the Hollywod Bowl. Hollywood Bowl is quite an experience and definitely worth going to at least once in your life. However, it is so big that the personal connection one has when seeing a band they love seems to get interrupted. Perhaps it's the distance to the stage or the band members not gauging the amount of energy they need to transverse the entire bowl. Which is what happened on Sunday night. Definitely could of used more energy from the band so that the folks in the back felt it. During the concert i actually wondered if they had just flown from Australia and perhaps the jet lag was making it difficult for them. Nevertheless, had a good time and glad we went.

The Hollywood Bowl was an amazing venue for this fantastic production. So few artists put in the time, money and energy to produce a full on show - worthy of a Broadway run. Luke Steele captivates the audience and brings them willingly into musical servitude displaying devotion through non stop hopping, dancing and singing along. By the end of the show, everyone is a devoted follower. To see seated patrons sipping their wine and dining on picnic baskets suddenly hop up and down for joy is an amazement on its own. The music commands you to dance and feel good to the point where when it ends you feel the emptiness. An Empire of the Sun show is an artistic, creative and spiritual journey - Thanks to Luke Steele for sharing his charisma, creativity and TALENT with us. His world is amazing, if you get the chance to see them perform - DO IT!!!!

I arrived early at the venue I extremely enjoyed my time there I got there at 6:30 p.m. ,and ticket holders were already being allowed in search was a breeze I put my stuff at the coat check downstairs and I left 30 minutes before the concert was over to retrieve my belongings and there was no line, there are bathrooms everywhere on every floor no long lines, there were bars everywhere too, very fast service it was a little warm inside but tolerable as long as you fan yourself with something, all in all I had an excellent time!! Holy Ghost, St Lucia, and Empire of the Sun gave me the best time of my life for me and my boyfriend an amazing birthday present thank you Bill Graham Civic Center.

Two bands leading up were disappointing - ticket didn't say anything about an opening band(s) that played up to 3 hours before Empire started.... but when Empire did come out it was epic!!! Chills from the opening, and the closing left me in awe. One of the best shows that I've ever been to.

One of the best live shows I have ever seen. The attention to detail and set design that EOTS puts into their live show is incredible. Amazing visuals, incredibly showmanship, lush/beautiful music and destroying guitars like a true rock star. The best.

One of the best concerts i have been to in a long time and I go to a lot of concerts! Great intro, fantastic music, feast for the the eyes. A true master performance. Really enjoyed the whole effect they were conveying to the crowd. The songs are unforgetable and will stay with me for a long time. The crowd loved him and was totally into the music. His music being sentimental and romantic in such a cool way and powerful way...

Wow! What a night. I discovered this band about a year ago and was thrilled they were coming to town. I was blown away by the music, elaborate costumes, dancing, video display, etc. Luke Steele is the Emperor...now I know why......as my cousin described the 2 hour set...."it was kind of like Luke and the rest of the band landed on the rooftop of BGCC...put us all under a trance then at the end they took off to their planet in their spaceship". A night I shall soon not forget. I look forward to their next album.
