The Lord Of the Rings, In Concert with the Dallas Pops was truly a work of art. the care and energy that went into the music was obvious, and extremely impressive. We especially enjoyed how the soloist stood out in constume. The actual voiceover of the movie could have been louder, and the upper reserve was very warm - like sweat in your seat warm, which was not pleasant. Thank goodness for playbill/fans. I would definitely recommend this to others. My family and I found the score amazing and it was incredible to watch it being played out live as the movie progressed. Nice job, Dallas Pops.

Not quite like the original. Several of the actors were a little over the top and not quite rooted in what they were saying; they were "acting" it. Dancing was great. You could see the dancers were giving it their all. Singing great. I did think a few points were a little too "choral" sounding....too much concern with crescendos. Also one actor felt the need to over enunciate and kept saying "It twas" this and "it twas" that; over emphasizing his "t's". I also didn't care for some of the "updating" and changes that were made; it made some of the tension of an audition disappear. I didn't want to see the director. And why oh why would the "director/choreographer" dance the final dance with everyone? I know it's the curtain call, but I just thought it wasn't right for that charcter to be in that number...at least not the whole thing. Some musicals need to stay written and sung the way they were originally intended. I'd recommend it to anyone who has never seen this musical simply because you won't have a comparison and you'll enjoy it. Especially if you love theatre - the songs speak for themselves. But the script and the direction just left me just saying "ok".

My family and I typically only buy tickets to one musical per year due to cost and schedules, but this year was an exception. My niece called me up a couple of weeks ago and said she had to attend a play of some sorts for her English class. She has to write a paper about her theatre experience to turn in the first day of school. A Chorus Line was the only show playing at a time convenient for the both of us. I've seen the movie many times, but she hadn't so she didn't know what to expect. I thought this musical was PERFECT for her! She recently auditioned and made the senior dance team of her school, so the whole audition setting was dead-on. Also, she's 15 so the scenes about puberty and first loves struck a chord with her. She was cracking up at times and made comments about asking her boyfriend if he ever experienced what the men mentioned...I won't repeat it in a review. :0) Anyway, after the show we decided that she can put a personal spin on the paper as far as not just writing about her theatre experience, but actually relating some parts to her real-life experiences. We're both glad this was the only show playing at a time convenient to us.

This classic show has withstood the march of time. It's got incredable choreography...hard to remember when those moves were revolutionary. And a superb cast. No one can forget "What I did for love" or "One" once you've heard them. Brilliant.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this performance, and I was blown away with how incredible it was. I would like to personally thank the musical talent that brought this performance together. The music is a huge part of what makes the LOTR movie, and hearing performance live playing off of the emotion in the movie was an incredibly experience. I would highly recommend this performance to any LORT lovers, or anyone who hasn't seen the movies but can appreciate a good performance. You will not be disappointed. I love the concept of having the live performance to a movie, and I hope this trend will expand and there will be more opportunities like this one.

My husband really enjoyed the show. I know the movie was an integral part of the show, but it was distracting from the incredibly beautiful music. As time went on , though, I became comfortable with the dual attraction and ended up loving it. Best part, however, was when they ran the credits and you could really focus on the music.

What an amazing show! The set was so colorful and unique, the costumes were detailed and extravagant, the orchestra played every note to perfection, accompanying absolutely beautiful vocals. The actors had not only perfect comic timing, but every voice was spectacular. Overall this was a great musical that I would go see again. The set designs were beautiful, magical and had me sitting up in my seat wide eyed like a child. The songs were memorable from my childhood and some of them you were able to sing along. It was cute & catchy & delivered a message about family as most of us are so busy with trying to keep our heads above water that we forget the little things that makes life important.

I saw the Beatles in Memphis, Tn in the 60's. Rain captured the Beatles so well they took me back in time to that event. I was 15 and still recall the sights and sounds of the Beatles live performance, Rain duplicated that moment in time. A truly, amazing live performance. Rain exceeded my expectations since they performed live music that even the Beatles could not do in the 60's and 70's. That was one of the reasons they stopped touring, because they could not reproduce live what they created in the studio. Rain through technology and amazing musical skill were able to re-create in a live setting what the Beatles could not do.

Two of my children got together to get tickets to this event. They didn't tell me anything about it, they just told me that on June 12th I had to be at their house by noon "and dress nice" , they told me. When we walked into the Music Hall and I saw the playbill for Stomp I was really excited. I have rented every one of their performances on DVD and had wanted to see them when I was in New York last time but it was sold out. The live performance was everything I had hoped it would be - energetic and engaging. Without ever using words, the dance leader got the audience to clap and snap fingers in set rhythms and patterns on command. Believe it or not, the routines were humerus as well. These performers are athletes as well as dancers. Even the women have well developed muscles for all the hard work they put into the show. The only bad thing was that the performance ended to soon. I wish it had gone on longer.

I do typically like very big, gay, campy musicals. So, if you like campy, passé musicals, then this is the musical for you. If you are looking for a big, gay, fabulous musical, then don't go to this production of Xanadu. The acting in the performance I saw on on Wednesday night was not even close to being a Broadway production. The cast's vocal performance was not up to par either. You could not prove Michael Jenkins' claim that Dallas Summer Musicals is Dallas' premiere Broadway production company, if you watched Wednesday night's performance. This is evidenced by only about 1000 seats sold out of 3400 seats.

At first glance, you wouldn't think that a show where the dogs are played by people and their human companions are played by much taller people walking around on stilts could possibly work, but it does. This charming adaptation of one of the world's favorite dog stories takes its inspiration from the original 1956 book by British author Dodie Smith. Even if you've seen all the Disney movies twice, you'll find something fresh and original in this production. Rachel York is fabulous as an over-the-top Cruella De Vil. I never thought anyone could top Glen Close in this role, but Rachel comes close. The music is irresistible! Dennis DeYoung, founder of the legendary rock group "Styx" brings an energy and pop sensibility to the score that will keep you humming the tunes long after the show is over. When Julie Foldesi, as Perdita, sings "One True Love" it's easy to imagine this song becoming a top-ten hit. The ensemble of children playing the puppies are inspiring as they sing their signature anthem "Break Out." Best of all, of course, are the 15 real Dalmatians who steal the show with their amazing grand finale. This classic tale of good and evil is something children, their parents, and dog lovers everywhere will all enjoy.

We went to this musical feeling a little trepidation, but was simply blown away! The whole spectacle was exhilarating. And the special effects were beyond belief. I want to see it again.

"Ghost" was a pretty bad production in general. No fault to DSM but honestly, it should never have been made into a musical. The pit orchestra (which I normally love) seemed to compete with the actor's trying to sing louder and louder. Actors screeching their numbers. Could not understand the reason for the chorus numbers. Missed lots of dialogue because of poor sound quality, it seemed (had not had that in the past). Poor chemistry between the leads. Lighting was HIGHLY annoying. The illusions were amateurish to me. That they stuck to the story was redeeming and some of the acting was good, but overall, I simply could not wait to leave and take something for my headache.

My wife and I enjoyed the performance. We both agree that Ghost - The Musical was one of the better shows we've seen. Loved the way video and lazers were incorporated in the show. Thank you to all the cast members for a memorable night

We were not expecting the show we saw. We figured it would be a very watered down version of the movie. WOW!! We LOVED IT!! Ghost was the movie my wife and saw on our first official date.

The sets were awesome. That's the positive review. The songs were too long. Just didn't like it. I saw many people leaving during intermission. This is the only musical I have ever been to when I left before it was over.

My daughter and I flew from Phoenix to Dallas just to see the production of Ghost. We had seen the play both on Broadway and in London and really enjoyed it. The special effects were very well done, but the actors voices and acting was very average.

The stagecraft and visual effects of this show were interesting and at times impressive. The audio engineering was... I have no other word than horrible. Vocals could not be appreciated due to the overwhelming volume of both the vocals and the instruments. My impression of the singing was negative, but the experience may have been different with a more deft touch on the mixing board? It felt like the actors were always shouting rather than projecting.

The casting for this musical was superb. Swayze, Moore, and Goldberg would be proud of those that played their characters. From the opening scene through the closing scene each character added talent to the overall storyline. The choreography was great. I believe the audience was pulled into the story and I know around our row there wasn't a dry eye during some of the scenes. The Fortune Teller was spot on and played the role like it was a natural part filled with a little drama and a lot of laughter.

The sound was awful...it was so loud it drowned out the performers while giving the audience a headache. I didn't enjoy all those strobe lights directly in my face...in other plays I have seen they were just used on stage. Overall, I just wouldn't recommend this performance....& those garish backdrops of moving traffic...just awful.

The show was amazing. LED and interactive lighting and graphics made this performance a one of a kind show stopper. Seeing is believing what GHOST is about. Outstanding!!!!

I really enjoyed this musical however the sound was very difficult to hear. I don't know if it was the location of our seats since we sat on the front of the balcony or what, but the words seemed mumbled together with the extreme background music.

This musical was not really what I excepted. I get the movie was never a musical to begin with but I could not hear the singing that well. Molly and Sam are legends when it comes to this movie. The characters were not up to par like the movie. I expected much more. It was good to see but I would not go again.

The audio was way too loud. So much so I found myself putting my fingers to my ears to filter the sound. There was also very little dialog in this play and was about 95% singing. I think it needed much more dialog to get the audience involved in the story line.

I attended Ghost The Musical with my family on opening night. We had great seats in the first balcony center section. First off, I must give credit where credit is due, and say that the special effects were extraordinary and the main reason I would recommend this show. The acting was mediocre at best , with the exception of the actors who played Oda Mae and the angry subway ghost. At times it looked like the main characters were running through a dress rehearsal! Their singing was off key and the dancers lacked energy. I will chalk it up to "opening night jitters"

Great play, great music. Worked wonderfully in the Fair Park theater. I was not able to see well around the person in front of me, but we moved to empty seats and were able to see just fine. The actors were great, sound was really good, heard every word spoken and we were in the top balcony!
