Roxette

Roxette is a pop-rock duo hailing from Sweden, with Marie Fredriksson on vocals and Per Gessle on guitar and supporting vocals. Before Roxette, both Fredriksson and Gessle had established musical careers in their home country, until joining to record their first Swedish hit single,” Neverending Love.” From the band's inception in 1986, they achieved international acclaim in the late ‘80s, thanks to Look Sharp!, their commercial breakthrough album. They have sold over 60 million records globally and received gold and platinum awards for their Joyride and Look Sharp! albums.

They played all the best Dressed For Success, Sleeping In My Car, The Big L. Spending My Time, It Must Have Been Love, Fading Like a Flower, Crash Boom Bang, How Do You Do! , Dangerous, Joyride , Listen To Your Heart The Look, Church Of Your Heart. I loved the concert, the first time I saw them, I missed them in the 90's so finally I could be there.

I've followed the group ever since "Look Sharp" was released. Mainly because the music is so fun and the songwriting is impeccable. I have not had many opportunities to see them live, so I jumped at the chance to take my 19 year old daughter to see them in Winnipeg. We had great seats (center of 5th row) and we enjoyed every single song of the concert! Roxette is so genuine, awesome performances by each band member. The whole MTS Centre was having a blast, it was the best concert I've been to in ages! Thanks Roxette!!!

Being a Roxette fan for over 20 years I was going to the concert at Beacon theater, prepared for the best show of my life. And Roxette managed to surprise even me and exceed all my expectations!!!! From the first Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! of Dressed for Success till the finishing chords of Church of Your Heart it was pure magic in the air! Every detail of this show took my breath away - the rock sound of a 100% live show, the power of Marie s voice that reaches deep down to your soul, the energy of Per, his harmonica solo or fun interaction with Christoffer during the mind blowing guitar riffs, awesome key board solos from Clarence totally blew me away!!!!! Dea was charming and Pelle and Magnus as always at their best :) Not to forget Magnus s gig with sex machine during the band presentation - it was so cool! Every single one of them gave us 200% of their energy and love! The band members interacted with the audience and the audience response was outstanding! We sang along every song from start to finish and I never wanted this concert to end. This is official Roxette is the best there is! The US fans are hungry for their music and never stopped loving Per and Marie! I really hope this is the beginning of a new era of Roxette in the US. Time to give them their well deserved publicity here and join the rest of the world, who s been admiring the pure talent of Roxette for over two decades now.

It was a bucket list event for me to see Roxette in concert. Their music, while not as popular in U.S. is world famous. The band behind them was sure professional and had great chemistry with Marie and Per. Only regret they didn't play "Wish I Could Fly" and "One Wish." The act before sucked!

Roxette is one of my favorite bands of all-time and it was phenomenal to see them finally after all these years. What was great about the show was the energy that Per & Marie had in them. They know they're not the greatest, especially not in the U.S., but they knew this was a small, intimate crowd of their die-hards in the NYC area and they didn't disappoint. The show was so much fun. Their set-list was great and for the first time, I didn't see an artist shove their new material down the crowd's throats.

Roxette was superb! I have been a fan for a very long time and it feels like a dream come true to see them perform live. The opening act by Hesta Prynn (a DJ) was totally not a good fit for this audience. No one (including me) was excited by the opening act. While she appears to be a really good DJ, her material was just not appropriate for a crowd of middle-aged listeners trying to re-live their 90s Euro-Pop memories. Modern pop/hip-hop and 90s pop don't mix!!

Roxette know how to put on a great show. Two hours of nonstop rocking awesome. No fancy sets or costumes. Just good old fashioned high energy music. Per and Marie both sounded excellent. The set included almost all of their biggest hits. The only glaring omission was I Wish I Could Fly, and more songs from Charm School or Travelling. But every song they did play was a classic.

I have travelled from the US to Europe twice in last 10 years to see this amazing band and each time, it was WELL worth the excessive cost just to get there! Roxette concerts are something quite special... a place where thousands of dedicated fans of all ages and backgrounds come together for one of the most surreal and amazing nights of music, fun and entertainment you will likely ever experience in your lifetime! The first time I saw them was a quaint but amazing accoustic performance in Seattle in 1999 in front of about 200 people. Two years later, I was fortunate enough to see them in their home country... twice... each time in front of about 16,000 screaming fans! That was easily one of the most amazing experiences of my life, one I thought I may never equal... until 2011 arrived! After Marie's health problems, I figured we would never hear anything new from Roxette but especially never see them on stage again. Fact is, she had a 5% chance of surviving. Not only did she survive, but she amazingly has regained that amazing voice and re-learned the lyrics to all the songs you will hear in their concerts! This fact alone enhanced the two concerts I saw in Budapest and Prague in 2011, but the crowd electricity was so electric, especially in Prague... it probably rivalled if not exceeded the 2001 concerts in Sweden, something I never thought I would be saying! Now, Roxette is coming back to North America for a 2 week+ tour of the US and Canada. I'll be attending the shows in SF, LA, and Vancouver BC. Trust me when I tell you that you cannot go wrong in making the effort to see this band live! Even if you only remember or like a few of thier hits, you will no doubt have an amazing time. Well worth any amount spent, without a doubt!!!

A band that can squeeze 25 International Hit Singles, span a career of over 25 years, and sell over 75 Million records worldwide, is impressive by any standard. In Swedish standards it is ABBA or Roxette. Don't miss the performance from this Legendary Duo!

I've been a Roxette fan for 21 years and finally had the chance to see them live overseas last year. Don't miss this show if you can help it! It helps to know that the female singer, Marie Fredriksson, has recovered from a near-fatal brain tumor which affects her memory and balance, so she isn't able to move around the stage very well. Taking that into consideration, this show is 100% live and is really fun. Marie's voice is still fabulous and the male singer/guitarist, Per Gessle is full of contagious energy.

Where do I begin, As a young boy I remember the first time I heard Roxette on the radio. It was clearly unique and someting unlike anything I had experienced before. I was able to see them in Boston over 20 years ago and it was my first concert. I always wondered why they never came back and never thought I would get to see them again. When I found out they were returning this year I couldn't believe it! This concert was very different from the first but just as incredible. It is very obvious that Per and Marie care about their fans and enjoy performing for them. I can't thank them enough for returning to us and hope it will not be the last time. I wish I could have stayed after the show, it breaks my heart knowing that they came out and I missed a chance to meet them. Thank you to ALL the band members, a night I will never forget and if you come back I'll be right there with you again.

Concert was amazing - that's because I REALLY love Roxette, but I also liked Beacon Theater (my first time there). Sound was good, the venue was nice, check in process was prompt, etc. However, our seats were too far - even though the tickets were quite expensive (i2nd most expensive option). Everyone in front stood up, and it was hard to see the stage. Sound was good, tho.

I was a Roxette fan since age 15. I have been dreaming of attending one of their concerts ever since. I finally had the chance and it was exactly what I was hoping for if not more. Only thing that ruined it for me was the two idiots fans who stood in front of me the whole time until I decided to stand up and walk to a different location. Would be happy to go see them again.

This was one of the most enjoyable concerts I've been to - and I go to many! Marie and Per sound just like their records ! They are great onstage with a solid backing group. I have been a huge Roxette fan for the last 22 years and I finally watched them live for the first time at the House of Blues in Boston. They were at their best....they were full of energy.....one of the best concerts I have been to. The set list was great. They played most of their biggest hits. I absolutely want to watch them again. I hope they will come to Boston again whenever they are are in the U.S next time. The turnout here in Boston was low which indeed was a little disappointing. But everyone who attended the concert was singing along. Per Gessle and Marie did a great job of engaging the crowd. I would recommend watching Roxette even if you haven't heard about them. I wish them all the best for the remaining concerts in this tour and hope to see them come up with more albums in future.

Roxette hasn't played a show in the United States in many, many years, so I was really looking forward to this show. They didn't disappoint, the show was fantastic from top to bottom, I can't recommend it enough. The opening act however, I think her name was Hester Prynn or something, she was absolutely awful. Her faux DJ act was totally out of place on a live stage, and when she actually tried to sing, I thought she was going to bust a chandelier. I could have gotten onstage and done a better job warming up the audience than she did.

This was my first time seeing Roxette in concert. If you don't count the mini concert they performed at the Virgin Mega Store in Times Square. They were like a fine wine. Aged to perfection. They played all of their classic hits and a few of there newer songs. The only song that they did not play, that disappointed me, was Wish I Could Fly which is one of my favorite of their songs. But I guess they can't please everyone. But that does not take away from what was a monumental night as this is Roxette's first US concert in 20 years. I can't say enough good things about this concert. I will remember it forever.

Maybe it was the fact that they hadn't been to NY in 20+ years, and maybe it was because we had second row center, but Roxette put on an amazing show. They did nearly all of the hit singles, with the original arrangements that you love and remember. It was so wonderful seeing this band after so many years and so many awesome albums. The set definitely leaned heavy on the 80's and early 90's material, with a few detours into the later years. It will be a night I will remember for a long time!

This is my all time favorite band and they delivered everything I'd hoped they would. This was fantastic. They invited everyone to sing along during all the songs. But there would be points during certain songs where they would stop and prompt the audience to sing the lyrics instead. It was great and really fun that way. The venue was gorgeous, exactly what you'd expect to find on Broadway. The drinks were priced as you'd expect and they had a wide range of choices. They had minibars set up on all the floors, which was great because i didn't have to run down stairs and stand in line for just one mini bar. The sound was great, the band was great, the lighting was great (except for being blinded a bit). Overall I had a great time and would recommend this to anyone who's a fan of Roxette.

At 67, I may be one of Roxette's oldest fans, although the fans who came to see the show seemed very diverse, which says much about Roxette's wide appeal. Per's ability to write songs that are timeless and meaningful and Marie's ability to honestly express these lyrics with true enthusiasm and passion combined with a unique and wonderful voice is evident and the crowd hugely responded! I have been to many, many concerts in my lifetime, many were considered some of the top artists of all time, but I will ALWAYS personally remember this one as being near the top of my list. That's just how they impress me, especially Marie. I was fortunate to be at a side street some time after the concert when Per, Marie and members of the band came out to leave the venue. They all took the time to talk to and sign autographs for as many people as they could. They impressed me as being very gracious to do this and genuine in the love of their fans. I especially wanted to meet Marie, and I was afraid she would have to leave before she got to me, but I got lucky! As she was signing a valued momento for me I told her that "you and your music mean A LOT to me", which is true, and a hug and kiss on the cheek from her made this the "Perfect Day". Definately an amazing evening!!

A good show, but seemed short - 2 hours flied by like 15 minutes. Marie's voice is just as clear and beautiful as on a remastered CD. The guys are very simply dressed and not vulgar and got along with the public. Performed some of my old time favorites like ''spending my time'', ''listen to your heart'' and so on, but a lot of hits seemed to be left out for the sake of the unknown songs. It was fun to see them live, and remember Sweden, and the 90's. :)

Two years ago we tried to get tickets to Roxette in a ridiculously small Finnish town with 16 000 inhabitants, but the concert was sold out. Probably it was meant to be that way since the concert here in New York really was worth waiting. Roxette owned the audience from the first second and just tightened their grip song after song. They were professional yet very genuine. There were tears of happiness and tears of grief. We bought expensive seats, but ended up standing of joy and excitement the whole concert (like almost everybody else). One con: the warm-up DJ was ok, she but had a compulsive need to drink water all the time. Maybe she thinks it is cool, it is not.

Roxette played Beacon Theater in 1992. And blew everyone away. 20 years later, they are back. To imagine they would pack the theater with more people, and sound fresher than ever!! I have never been to a concert where the entire audience was on their feet for the whole show, and sang EVERY SONG. Marie Fredricksson is a goddess, and an inspiration to everyone. She has been through hell and back, and gets up on stage and SANG FOR HER LIFE. She has a gorgeous voice, although deeper than before, still has a jazzy-raspy range, but still has the soft emotional tone. She had a small trip and fall on stage (the remnants of her battle with cancer) yet laughed it off and just soldiered on for the rest of the show. Per Gessle is a ROCK GOD who writes amazing material. This was the BEST show i have ever seen. Roxette loves their fans, and took time after the show to sign autographs, shake their fan's hands. Marie is a pop icon who deserves every award and accolade in the world.

I have always loved Roxette but never thought I would get to see them live. The venue was moved from the Orpheum to the House of Blues and in either place the show would have been great. Coming out at 9:15 PM after an hour and fifteen minutes of a DJ playing songs seemed strange, but Roxette just started playing hit after hit with no time in between songs. Per Gessle seemed amped for the show, but Marie Fredriksson was a little low key. Her voice does not seem to have the range it used to, but at times she would surprise you and reach those high notes. She also seemed to move around the stage very carefully. What I did not know at the show was, she battled brain cancer for 3 yrs (2002-2005). Since 2005 she has done quite a bit and really wanted to get Roxette back on the road. Including the encore, they played for about 1 hour and 15 minutes and the sound was excellent. The musicians who played with them were very good, and some were from the 80's band. Here is one more 80's group I can check off my list as groups I have seen and enjoyed.

Came for the ballads and a good ole' fashion rock-n-roll show broke out. Very amped-up and plugged-in performance of their amazing body of work. Lead guitarist was cranking all night! Marie was understandably frail of voice, but didn't disappoint! The packed house of loyal Roxette fans transcended a beautiful vibe throughout the show. Great night and even greater music by perhaps the greatest female lead singer for a rock/pop band in Marie Fredrikkson along with possibly the greatest songwriter of his generation in Per Giselle.

I saw them in 92 at the same venue; 20 years later they were even better than before. They played all their hits and and more! Marie's voice was outstanding and held the audience's attention all night long. The band was energetic and rocked the house during the entire performance! They are pretty late in their career due to Marie's illness but it was great to see them back in action in the United States!

Roxette finally returned to the US and delivered a top notch show and the crowd ate it up! It was certainly a night to remember. Marie sounded fantastic! "Perfect day" was a highlight. Per bounced and sang his way through the entire concert. Overall a great night of music. I thought the concert started around 9:15 or 9:20 which isn't that bad for a Saturday night show. I certainly don't remember it being 9:45pm. I hope they come back soon.

With the special guest of Glass Tiger opening the concert to the throw back to the 80s it was a great stepping stone to what was to come in the night when Roxette finally got on stage. Opening with Dress for Success song for the night set the pace of all great music from the 80s to the early 90s that Roxette has as a hit and some a song or two that is new that I had never heard of, but it sure has a Roxette feel to the songs. An unbelievable night of listening to some really great music that I grew up listening to on the radio.

Roxette has always been my favorite group. Marie's voice has always captivated me in the CDs, so it was a wonderful opportunity to see her live. She still sounded great and I really enjoyed the performance. I did not give 5 stars just because Marie tried to avoid high notes that she used to do in the original recording (I would give 4 1/2 stars). But her unique vocal color is absolutely a treat. The Roxette band was definitely awesome, I especially enjoyed the lead guitar and the keyboard. The venue, Gibson amphitheater, is excellent, the seat is pretty comfortable, the viewing angle is superb, and the sound system is great. I would definitely come back for more concerts there. Thank you, Roxette and Gibson Amphitheater!!!

After seeing them for the first time in L.A. in 1992, I thought I would not have a chance to see them again. I was so excited they came back to L.A. Per and Marie were amazing as ever. The energy from the crowd was pure excitement. Everyone sang along to all the songs. I loved every second of the show. I went by myself and had a wonderful time making new Roxette friends. I hope they return very soon. Thank you Roxette for your great music. Hurry back..

The ACTUAL concert didn't start until 9.45 or close to 10 and the ticket shows 8.15pm, yes I've been concerts before, but the waiting was ridiculous. Other than that, the band still played awesome and brings back old memories!!!

Flew in from Colorado to see the show and worth every penny to see one of my favorite acts from back in the day! Still sounded great, especially in the smaller venue. Glad to finally get the chance to see them live. Hope they come back to the states again soon!

I was SO looking forward to seeing Roxette! I LOVE them. First Marie is 54 but looked and acted 100. She was very stiff and seemed out of it. OMG she couldn't remember words to the songs and would break pitch HORRIBLY! She would be right on pitch and remember all the words for one song and then just destroy the next three. Per was full of energy and had a ton of fun. He sounded great. The band played perfectly although the other guitar player was really weird in how he acted on stage. The crowd was singing with all the songs and Marie said at one point, "You all sound great", to which the guy sitting next to me said, "At least one of us does". VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY disappointing.

After waiting over 20 years for Roxette to return to the states, it was a fantastic show! They seem just as good now as they did 25 years ago. Marie Fredriksson doesn't get enough credit for her abilities. I'd rank her up there with any female performer today, even those half her age.

It's been 20 years since their last San Francisco appearance, but Roxette turned the time machine back & had the audience on their feet.

I've been a fan of Roxette for over 20 years, which means they're getting up there in the years, but they're rocking harder than ever! Comparing this concert to the footage of tours they did 20-25 years ago, they've got a lot more energy. I think at this point they're just doing it to have fun and for their fans, and it shows. They encourage everyone to sing along, and while they covered all the big hits, they certainly played a lot of songs that didn't chart here in the US, but are still fan favourites. The Pet Shop Boys concerts will always be my favourites because they're more stage productions than just music concerts, but for a straight-up music concert, this is probably the best one I've ever seen.

I feel like my life was made after going to their concert last night. I've been listening to Roxette since I was seven. I didn't think twenty years later I finally got to see them live for the first time. I was worried that I'd be disappointed since they're supposed to be the band that can do no wrong in my eyes, but wow ... their performance in San Francisco last night was amazing. I'm so glad I went. Marie and Per sounded great, and they had so much energy even though they've been touring for months and playing so many shows before this. Everyone in the crowd was dancing and singing along to the songs. I'm really happy to see so many people were enjoying the performance as much as I was. I hope they come back and perform again in SF in the next year or two. I will definitely go to see them again :D.

Finally!!! Roxette returns to the US after a 20+ year absence and we finally get to experience what the rest of the world has had the pleasure of tour after sucessful tour. I caught them on their first US tour in 1992 and would not have missed this concert for anything; driving 2+ hours to get to NYC to catch this show and would have travelled a greater distance if need be. Although it would have been wonderful to witness them in a large arena as they're accustomed just about everywhere else on this earth, the intimate venue was great. They sounded wonderful and seeing Marie back in action after all she has gone through was very uplifting.

I've loved Roxette for years and was thrilled to be able to see them live for the first time. It was all I had hoped it would be and more! Was also pleasantly surprised with Glass Tiger as I wasn't very familiar with them but after seeing their performance I came home and purchased some of their music as well!

I flew up to Boston from Baltimore to see my favorite band in concert again after 20 years. I first saw ROXETTE on their "JOIN THE JOYRIDE" tour back in March of 1992 @ the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. They were riding the waves of superstardom at that time, reaching #1 on the Billboard charts (4) times and also reaching #2 (2) times in a very short period. The show in Boston was moved from the Orpheum Theater to the House Of Blues venue. I love ROXETTE and have all their albums and have followed them from the beginning. I couldn't believe I was seeing them in concert again. I didn't care that I had to fly as long as I got to see them perform again. The show was FANTASTIC!!!. The thrill of seeing Per & Marie again was almost too much. They opened with "Dressed For Success" and the crowd went nuts. The band was super tight, intense, and ROCKED OUT like you wouldn't believe. ROXETTE is much more rock & roll in concert. Per is quite a showman and an incredible guitar player and singer. Marie is breathtaking. What a singer and inspiration. It was like a dream back in time. They sounded incredible, unbelievably terrific, words can't describe their energy and performance. They sang all the favorites, "Joyride", "Must Have Been Love", "Listen To Your Heart", "Dangerous", "Fading Like A Flower", and great hidden gem hits like "Stars", "7Twenty7". The crowd LOVED them and sang along to every song. I think I lost my voice about 1/2 way through from screaming and singing. It was a dream come true after a 20 year wait. YOU MUST GO SEE ROXETTE.....you will be BLOWN AWAY!!! Folks, you've got San Francisco & LA coming up. DO NOT MISS THEM IN CONCERT. You'll have one of the best nights of your life. WE LOVE YOU ROXETTE!!! Please don't keep us in the USA waiting too long for a retrun visit.
