Hilarious and fun. Wish that Steve Martin would do a book signing now...

I, too believed the show was going to be equal time spent by Ms Fey and Mr. Martin discussing their respective books. Being the great entertainers and professionals they are, it still was a very fun and enjoyable evening. It was also unfortunate to have to share space and parking with the rowdy hockey fans. It took the "class" down a knotch.

I felt very privileged to be in the room (very big room with 7000 or so people) to listen in on the conversation with Tina Fey and Steve Martin. I did not know that KCET and KPCC held Live Talks, but I am going to look into more of these as they showed a montage of past Live Talks before the show. Tina's history from The Second City improv group, touring in a van to SNL to 30 Rock and her movies was fasinating. Must. Buy. Book. Both Tina and Steve are pure class -- so intelligent, so funny, such great timing. We LAUGHED all night. Thank you.

We enjoyed the event. This was our first "discussion" type of event to attend. It is probably our fault, but we interpreted the event to be more discussion with Steve Martin. We did not expect it to be promoting Tina's new book. It might be better to title the event something like "Steve Martin interviews Tina Fey."

This event was very enjoyable! I only wish it had been longer - at just shy over an hour, I wished there had been more from such dynamic hosts. It would also have been fabulous if we had been warned somehow that there was a hockey playoff game that night - I certainly was not expecting to pay the same amount for parking as I did for the ticket. But overall it was a great event.

Steve has been my #1 favorite since I was a kid in the 70's.... he was even better than I imagined.... It was my first and probably (unfortunately) last time seeing him in person. He is a class act that is non-stop funny - it doesn't get better than that.

It's Tina Fey & Steve Martin...need I say more? Tina was hilarious! Steve seemed like he wanted more love from the audience. Overall though, it was an enjoyable night. Can't wait to get Tina's book!

They only spoke for an hour. Too short for two comic geniuses.

If I had any one complaint, it would be about cost, particular of parking and food. Not appropriately priced for the current economic climate. :) Otherwise, the show was fantastic. Tina Fey and Steve Martin were both hilarious!

It was a packed house. Steve Martin was a little bit all over the map with his questions but Tina Fey is so sharp, witty and self-deprecating. He read bits of her book...so funny. She's a great interview. They make a cool comedic pair. Audience spent a lot of time laughing, very respectful and listened intently to every word. Wish it could have lasted longer than an hour!

Been a Steve Martin fan for many years and recently a fan of Tina - because, you know, she is younger and newer to the scene. No offense Steve - I am older than her as well. Considering the fame that Steve has accomplished, he was a very gracious interviewer. There was mutual respect between these two comedic giants. Tina was personable and Steve was his usual witty self. Great insight into the entertainment industry. Technical difficulties did not distract from the show. Would have been nice if it were longer but it was worth cutting it short as I got Tina to sign her book for me. Then when I get home after the show - Tina is on Conan. Tina is ubiquitous. And Tina - if you are reading this - please put this review in your next book. I am a struggling writer and at least then I will be published. Thank you.

You could see how comfortable Tina Fey was with Steve Martin , He being an author too asked good questions and with his quick wit read great excerps from the Tina Fey book.Tina was a great sport she held her clip on mic for 90 minutes.

I really enjoyed seeing and listening to Tina Fey and Steve Martin. The time flew by and I wanted more. Mr. Martin was well prepared and appeared to be very relaxed. He asked some great questions. Ms. Fey's answers were so thoughtful and honest. She is an amazing woman. The interview was funny and smart. Her intellectual energy is inspirational and practically contagious. The only thing that would've made the evening better, is if Ms. Fey also interviewed Mr. Martin, who is equally brilliant and clever. The venue could've been better prepared for the Q and A session. Maybe the microphones and lights could be pre-set so no time is wasted trying to figure out who is speaking and from where.

Great interview, however, extremely too short. Wouldve liked a back and forth interview, not just hearing about Fey, who is great. LOTS and LOTS of technical/sound issues which were incredibly annoying. So much so it was distracting Fey and Martin. Fey even had to hand hold her mic. So dumb to have that be an issue.

I have to say I was disappointed with the event. The audio mike system was a constant problem, both Tina and Steve were commenting on it. Tina was a bit tired, poor thing. And having audience members ask questions was a huge mistake.

This event would not have been nearly as fun if not for Steve Martin. I am a wholehearted Tina Fey fan, but Steve's wit & playfullness made this a really cool event. Many of the audience members seated near us were kind of jerky. I honestly didn't expect uptight snobs at a Tina Fey/ Steve Martin show. No big deal, though, they didn't ruin it for us.

I wasn't exactly sure what this show would be, the description was very vague. But I figured with tina and steve how could it not be hilarious? Well, it wasn't. I'm not even sure if it was supposed to be. It seemed as if neither really know what to do, like it wasn't well thought out. I wouldn't decribe it as a comedy show, but rather something to help writer hopefuls and give advice. But it was priced as a show.....it did not have half the laughs of five minutes of 30 rock. I wouldn't go to it again..

What a gorgeous venue. Nice wine, a benign pretzel friendly attendants, good seats. With the stage act consisting of two people sitting in chairs - and two hilarious, non-vulgar people - should be a simple technical show. Nope. Poor pregnant Tina had to hold her lav mic the whole show. Where was a stage-hand to make quick fix? As casual as show was with these two funny minds, a sound tech entering stage would have fueled more humor from Steve and Tina. Some video clips would be nice to break up chat. Then the only other tech kooky thing that when questions were asked - and the producer-crew knew that would happen, nobody was prepared with a spotlight on audience member so Steve and Tina could see them. These two instances brought a 100 million dollar theater to high school auditorium. Overall it was a fun and relaxed and funny and genuine show. Thanks

I had made a point of reading both of their books before I went - but it would have been interesting anyway. The pre-reading was not really necessary.

Overall it was an entertaining exchange between the two of them HOWEVER, the mics and sound were terrible. Tina Fey had to hold her pin-on microphone the whole time and both Fey and Martin could barely hear the questions from the audience, which made it seem unprofessional and in some cases rude to the audience members who were asking the questions! Next time, double check at the sound check and allow someone to make the necessary changes during the show for the benefit of everyone.

This was an evening of "conversation" with Tina Fey and Steve Martin. I would still recommend such an evening since it was lovely, but I believe it was a bit misrepresented. As a die-hard Steve Martin fan, I was not aware that the evening would be really about Tina Fey (although I enjoy her a lot) - Steve's job was to interview Tina. I was thinking there would be more of a 50/50 - Tina interviewing Steve and Steve interviewing Tina. All in all it was still a lovely evening -- but I wanted more Steve!!

The Tiny Fey conversation with Steve Martin was phenomenal, but LA Live should be embarrassed with the show they put on. The sound was awful. Tina Fey had to hold her mic for the entire show and no one came out to fix it. Steve Martin spent at least a minute or two asking for help with her mic or feedback. Then after the show they announced that Tina would be signing copies of her book. There was no organization for a line, which snaked around the lobby in 10 different directions, then after 20 minutes they said she stopped signing. All in all, I would go to see those two comic icons anywhere, at any time. But never again at LA Live.

What's not to like about this show? Tina Fey is perfect, Steve Martin is a genius. Just a great show to hear them talk. At times it was a little one sided, Steve seems to know how to talk, but it was worth it.

This event was hilarious and wonderful. I wasn't expecting to get a book along with my ticket much less getting to actually meet Tina. The event was well worth it and I would love for it to have gone on much longer than it did. I'd recommend taking the Metro in early to save enough for the eateries around town.

I thought the rapport that Tine Fey and Steve Martin was very special and it was obvious that they admire each other tremendously. How nice to have two witty, intelligent people be so accessable and make us all laugh! It was a delightful evening! Loved it! My only challenge was the billing was a little misleading, in that we thought that Steve was going to discuss his book as well. Perhaps the title should have been Steve Martin: a Conversation with Tina Fey.

Tina was very stiff and unlike her usual self. Steve could have done a better job moderating. It was mostly about her life and book, which people can read for themselves. It would have been much more entertaining with some comedy.

While it was clear that the bulk of the audience had arrived noting it as an event about Tina Fey "talking to this old guy", I think they were please to discover that "this old guy" was actually quite funny. Who knew? So, I was enthralled by both Tina and Steve who's work I have studied and to my best to rise to as I create my own comedy pieces. The structure of the evening was remarkably simple and it allowed infinite freedom for these two bounce and rebounce to and from where ever they saw fit. And all 3000 of us followed. All except for Tina's mic that had convinced itself it was a tiny handheld. I could do this every night for a week! Then I would need to take a shower or something. Maybe get some lunch. Pay some bills. THEN I would be back the day after that!

I have not attended any of the series of 'Live Talks" before and was disappointed a bit with this event. I thought their conversation might be supported by clips or other production elements, but it was just the two of them on stage. I believe the cavernous space of the Nokia Theatre was much too large for the intimate conversation that took place. Not a bad night, just not a great night.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this event, I just know I adore them both and had to be there. Loved the format, these performers know how to entertain an audience without being dull. They handled mic issues like the seasoned pros that they are. The Q & A came as a surprise, but I thought it was handled well. My only complaint comes in after the show. The line up for the book signing was atrocious. After my friend and I found what we thought was the end of the line, we were told it was actually on the other side of this group, that it was stopped by security. The security guard directed us to the real end of the line, only to then ignore 40 other people who cut in ahead of us while "security" said it wasn't her job to control the line, just to keep the exits clear. 10 minutes later, it began to be announced that Tina would only be signing for another 30 minutes. The line thinned, but the employees were very pushy in their encouraging people not to try and wait. Then they announced you couldn't go downstairs unless you had a book. Once we were downstairs, they told us if we already had a copy with our tickets, the book was presigned and to get out of line. After a group complained that they'd stood in line and worked their way to the front, they began to let those of us with signed books "walk by to say hello, but don't stop, just keep going." We couldn't even take a picture of her just signing books. I understand Tina can't be expected to sit and sign for everyone who came, she'd had a long day and is expecting. But that being the case, the signs saying, "no personalized autographs; no posed pictures; only signing 'Bossypants;" should have all been placed upstairs in plain view. Had I known she wouldn't sign any other book, I'd have bought an extra copy for me, as my signed copy is going to be a gift to my sister & I had a different book for her to sign for me. Or I'd have taken my signed copy and went home 40 minutes earlier completely happy. The ladies around her helping pass the books were all very nice and polite, but the man dealing with the line has a lot to learn about politeness - if he'd have nicely said look, if your copies are signed, im sorry, please let others have a chance, I'd have understood. But to demand people who'd stood in line for 30 mins leave without so much as seeing Tina, when our tickets were sold as "Book Signing to Follow?" We paid to meet Tina and see her sign our books, sir. Next time, there should be more information provided about how it will all work, I'd have saved some money and bought the book off of Amazon and stood in line. The crowd control was ridiculous, the staff could have been more proactive rather than wander off when the crowd grew. On the bright side, I got to "meet" Tina and she was very nice and friendly. Tina and Steve - amazing! 5 Stars Staff - room for improvement. 2.5 Stars Event Details - next time, have some. 2 Stars

The event was great. The book signing afterwards was very unorganized. Higher priced tickets that included a book and book signing, had already been signed. we were not notified until after standing in line for the "book signing" that Tina wouldn't be signing the books if they had already been signed. Those who had purchased books outside of the event were however able to get theirs signed in person having paid a lower amount for their ticket.
