Children of Bodom, Tyr and Death Angel was the best $30 I've ever spent. The venue/sound was great, the bands were intense, the circle pits were great and the music was mind blowing. These guys are beyond talented. Masters at their crafts, true professionals

Children of Bodom, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Skeletonwitch all put on great performances. Both Children of Bodom and The Black Dahlia Murder have earned their places to headline shows and Skeletonwitch are on their way! The House of Blues however like most venues in Chicago was OVERSOLD. It was too crowded. RAISE the price and sell fewer tickets. At least people can enjoy being there. Aside from that it could be a great venue.

First of all, Opening bands were good. Crowd got into them immediately. OF course, the main attraction was Children of Bodom, and they played a lot of their great songs. Crowd was into it throughout the whole performance. I will definitely see them again next time they come to Chicago.

This was my 3rd time seeing COB, 2nd time at the House of Blues, and they were amazing!!! the sound was great, they played everything that i wanted to here, and their overall performance was great!!! the only thing i would change was the crowd was really rowdy! i've been to a lot of metal shows before so i know that it can get a little crazy, but it was a little much. there was so much pushing and shoving that at times it was hard to even watch the show. The House of Blues is a great place to see a show and usually the staff is really good about keeping people in line over there but last night they could have done a little bit better! but other then that it was an awesome show! if u haven't seen Children Of Bodom yet i definitly recomend them! you're in for a real treat with great music and an awesome finnish band that will blow you away!!!!

Skeletonwitch went first, they put on a very nice show. Next was BDM and they also put on a good show. I don't know why, but the lead guitar kept cutting in and out. Next was Children of Bodom. They shredded like always, but it was a short set, They didn't play at least 4 songs that are on their usual live set list. The House of Blues staff was rude and pushy.

I'm huge fan of Bodom but have been disappointed in the past with short set times, and bad live mixes. Last nights show was bang on, they played for an hour and a 1/2 and the mix was great. Rhythm guitars could have been a little louder, but Alexi's solo's came through which is incredibly important to the Bodom experience. Band had great energy and definitely seemed to be happy playing for a enthusiastic Toronto crowd. My only complaint was they didn't play Bed of Razors Black Dahlia Murder was also insane, they pumped the crowd up

Children of Bodom was awesome! They even did two encores the crowd liked them so much. It isn't often you come across a band that is as good live as they are on their albums. They far surpassed my expectations. Skeletonwitch and the first band (don't know the name, maybe a local band) were really good too. Overall a great show!!

This show was pure awesomeness. Great energy, extreme moshing, crowd surfing. The band played hard keeping the songs going and even played a couple more encore songs. The opening set was pretty cool. Showed up late, only band I know of was Skeleton Witch. Starland had a full show but the bar areas were more of a cool hang out to relax after crowd surfing. Bottom line, Bodom was awesome, Starland was awesome.

Not only was Children of Bodom absolutely incredible, the venue was totally kick ass as well. It had a huge bar area where members of the opening bands were hanging out with the fans. The area also had an awesome view of the stage, so if the Bodom pit was too much for you, you could still have a kick ass time. They played for a solid 1 1/2 hours and played tons of old school songs that pleased a lot of the fans. I drove 6 hours from Pittsburgh, Pa for this show and it was totally worth it!

I arrived to the show about 10 minutes late but still enough time to see threat signal. They were alright but not great. I think they have potential for becoming a much better band. Next was Revocation. In my opinion they completely sucked. There entire set list sounded like it was just a jam session. I don't think they have any potential as a band whatsoever. They had no real rhythm or beat while they were playing they were probably the worst act that I have seen since Skrape back in '99. I would never recommend that band to anyone. I would have given the overall rating a 5 if it wasn t for them. Eluveitie in my opinion was the best of the night. It is odd for me to say because the main reason I went was for COB I had only heard of them before but they were good things. I was completely blown away by their performance. They were energetic, and were really into the music and the crowd. The use of instruments not typically used in metal was amazing. It gave them amazing Celtic metal sound mixed with folk and melodic death metal. I would recommend them to anyone and I hope I am able to see them again soon. The only issue I have with them is when they were called out for an encore they didn t do it. Then was Children of Bodom this was my second time seeing them. Both times I was thoroughly impressed. They played for about 80 minutes. Alexi Laiho is easily one of the greatest guitars I ve ever heard. They are an amazing live band and I can't wait until I can see them again

I've never heard Threat Signal, but their music is very good, very melodic, and well structured. What doesn't help them though are the clean vocals. Revocation was next, but I didn't care for their music, and the singer thinks he's a comedian. The crowd responded well though. With Eluveitie things really got going. I've seen them before, but not like this. There were great in the past, now they're just out of this world. Powerful, brutal, confident, energized. Things didn't start well though as the drummer had some trouble with his headphone and they started late having to cut their setlist by one song. But once they started, goodness, were they awesome. Chrigel's and Anna's voices were powerful, the drummer is just crazy, and the sound perfect. I'd have been happy had the night ended there. What a performance. The only complaint- they should have been allowed to play more songs. A shame that Eluveitie didn't get to play longer, it took COB forever to come out. Sound was oversaturated and for the first 4 or 5 songs I couldn't hear what Alexi was doing. I wasn't prepared for the setlist either, as it wasn't the same as on other concerts of this tour. Too many older songs and they didn't play several songs which a COB concert must have, like Bodom Beach Terror and Not My Funeral. That was disappointing. COB has a couple of issues live. Alexi does the best he can for the crowd- singing, awesome playing, spinning around, throwing the guitar over his shoulder, his cool water spitting, and so on. But he gets tired quickly. He needs more support from his band. The rhythm guitarist is too mellow, he's a nice guy and plays great, but he's too passive. In the front, it's up to the bassist to support Alexi, and he does. He's active and entertaining. Not so with the keyboardist, who left the stage, came back late, didn't start playing when he should, plus he was all around annoying. He plays great, but he's gotta get serious, and I'm not talking about the scripted silliness. Drums were brutal, fast, and sounded great. The problem perhaps was to follow an outstanding performance like Eluveitie's. Somehow I didn't come out entirely satisfied with the COB show, because of the setlist and the unsatisfying sound.

Sitting through the opening acts was pretty painful, but totally worth it once COB came on. Great to see them in such a small "intimate" venue. No matter where you stood in the crowd, you were close. Since it was their 15th Anniversary tour I wish they would have played a bit more "old school" material (wanted to hear Needled 24/7 SO badly), but it was still a pretty diverse set list. Overall an awesome show; decent crowd, good pit, bad ass performance.

The lineup was great with 3 great entertaining bands opening up for COB. But COB was definitely the best aspect hands down. Performing songs like Kissing the Shadows and classics like Downfall, not one disappointing aspect whatsoever. The Reverb was a perfect sized venue for the group and there wasn't a bad spot in the entire place to watch the show. The tour was really good. I've never heard of Septic Flesh, and I thought they were kinda bad live, but the other two opening acts, Obscura and Devin Townsend, were really good. Sure, the Trocadero doesn't have the best acoustics, but that didn't stop everyone from having a good time!

Having seen Children of Bodom's set lists from other dates on this tour, my friends and I had no intention of sticking around for them. They only have two really good albums (the first two) and were not playing anything from them. I did however fully plan on attending for my hero and all time favorite musician/artist, Devin Townsend. He played a great set with a mix of songs from his previous and current projects. He's a musical genius and puts on a hell of a live show so I recommend catching DTP whenever they are around! As a bonus I ended up really really enjoying Septic Flesh. They were very heavy blackened death metal with cool epic, ominous sounding keyboard parts. I ended up downloading a couple albums by them the next day. Definitely worth checking out. Sat at the bar for Obscura, as I have no interest in deathcore or really any other metalcore for the most part. Overall definitely worth the price for Devin Townsend Project and Septic Flesh!

Septic Flesh is a greek Black/Death metal band that shows promise. I think they sound like a cross between Behemoth and Cradle of Filth. Heavy and deep growls with bombastic overtures, and haunting symphonies. Live some of the operatic expierence is lost but still good to see. The Great Mass is a good buy. Obscura is a technical/prog/death metal band. It has a lot a jazz infused bass and thrash guitar solo's but not too much in any one area. Even though I love death and grind I was there to see DTP, I have been a fan of pretty much everything Devin touches since getting a copy of City by Strapping Young Lad so many years ago. I thought they might be out of place but they more than held their own. They played a wide range from Physist and Infinity to Deconstruction. Then Devin announced he'd be signing stuff after his set. Totally cool. Can't wait to see them headline. Children of Bodom were equally awsome. they played Needled and sixpounder which are two of my favorites. excellent guitar virtuoso. Awsome club concert see it if you can good price and every band is a hit no duds on this one.

Openers Septicflesh were fantastic. They put on a very powerful show that was totally entertaining. Obscura was not remarkable in any way. Devin Townsend once again brought his wildly entertaining brand of metal to the stage. Everyone should see Devin at least every other year just to see what's going on in that head of his. Finally, Children of Bodom hit all the big songs in a big way. Overall, a very nice package tour. I gave 4 stars due to Obscura and the unrelenting, intense, suffocating heat inside of the Trocadero club. No human should (or could) have to sit through that.

I like all the bands that played at this concert, so why 3 stars, why not enough power because the power went out on stage during Septic Flesh's show. They were only a couple songs in and the power cut out, it took the people at Best Buy Theater 10-15 min to get it back and when they did they skipped Septic Flesh and went to the next band. That sucked to me and all the fans of the band who paid to see them perform. I dont blame the band at all, I blame the venue for its amateur bs. They could of let them finish or at least play a few more songs. The rest of the show was great but still it wasnt the full show.

Now, I'm a Guy who's been a ardent fan of Children Of Bodom for a very long time. Being in India did Not help, because irrespective of the bands that were then pouring in, I could predict that COB was not gonna step onto my country soil anytime soon. Forgetting and Forgiving, I landed in New York to pursue my career. And on one of the finest of nights in times square, Children Of Bodom decided to play in The Best Buy Theatre. On a whim, I decided to wear a banana suit to the show. It was definitely worth it. During the first half of the Devin Townsend set, he looks over at me (I was standing front row, to the left) and gave me a funny face, then announced "Ladies and gentlemen, there is a huge fucking banana over there!". I also brought a banana to the show, which he had me touch to the headstock of his guitar, at which point the entire crowd exploded with cheers. He then took my "Got Beer?" hat off of my friends head and put it on and played with it on. Got to chat with him after the show, really awesome guy, invited me to come back next time he's playing in town. I've never been a fan of Obscura, but they did a good job. Septic Flesh is one of my all time favourite bands, and they blew me away as always. They all recognized me as "the guy who's band is named after one of our songs". They were all really cool. I enjoyed Children of Bodom, but Alexi didn't do the crowd interactions he usually does, which irritated me. He didn't even stay to sign autographs, Henkka was the only one to sign. I will definitely be back in 2 months when Devy is back. See you there and watch out for the BananaMan!

For Obscura and Septicfish the sound for both bands wasn't very clear, the tonal quality between instruments were muddy so you couldn't make out some of the music that makes them unique. Devin Townsends signature toying with the crowd and humor mixed with his heavy complex riffs brought the energy the crowd didn't quite have yet for the headliner. Children of Bodom was very energized, they seemed happy to be there and enjoying what they do. This was my first COB show and I look forward to many more.

It's Bodom, of course it's going to be amazing!!! Even though Bodom was late to start their set, because their drummer, Jaska Raatikainen, ended up in the hospital due to back problems. They still delivered! Once Jaska got back, they immediately started playing, and even played 2 extra songs because of the delay! After the show, band members were giving autographs and talking amongst the fans! It was a great night!! I personally was up at the front of the pit for the whole night!! Children of Bodom put on a great show with a great setlist. The opening bands, Tyr and Death Angel, were also great.

All three bands playing were full of energy and put on an amazing show. The only downside was the venue staff were breaking up mosh pits and there was a sign that said both moshpits and crowd surfing were not allowed. Really?

Saw Children of Bodom with Death Angel and Tyr. The show was incredible. The warm-up bands were great and really energized the crowd. When Bodom came on, I was taken to a singularity of space and time devoted to the enjoyment of metal. They played a great set, awesome songs old and new. Do yourself a favor and see these guys live.

Children of Bodom was amazing at the paradise rock club in Boston MA. They brought the house down and metalized Boston once again. The opening acts were also very good bands who also displayed some amazing guitar riffs, tyr and death angel. Overall it was an amazing show. COB played new stuff but also kept it real by playing many fan favorites. I would definitely go and see them rock MA again. Highly recommended.

Tyr and Death Angel both had good performances, though Tyr didn't sound great (probably not their fault). CoB was great. Their sound was a little too bassy for me but the guitars and keyboard were clear. Vocals were a little low, but I was sitting in the back balcony. Overall CoB played some great metal and I would definitely recommend both the TLA and the bands that performed.

The show was great. They played about a full album worth of songs including some old ones. This was my first time at the Fillmore and the venue is great for metal shows. Týr and Death Angel were excellent opening acts as well.

Overall the concert was really enjoyable. Children of Bodom is always fun to watch, but this time both of their opening acts were really good too. Usually you have to sit through two horrible or mediocre bands to get to the main act, but this tour I was really impressed with both opening acts.

Missed most of Ornimental, but thoroughly enjoyed Tyr. I thought that Death Angel's singer needed to have his mic turned up because I couldn't hear him against the guitars and drums. While Children of Bodom didn't play a handful of songs I assumed would be concert standards (Bodom After Midnight, Children of Decadence, Transference) I was pleasantly surprised that they played three songs from Are You Dead Yet?, which I think is their most underrated (and most moshable) album. It was cool seeing one of the guys from Ornimental hanging out in the crowd in his kilt--that kind of personability makes the difference between musicians and true showmen. All in all I was struck by how positive, upbeat, and friendly everyone in the crowd and on the stage was. I was taking a friend of mine to his first ever metal show, so I'm glad that his eyes were opened to just how happy and well-adjusted metal fans are under their crusty, blackened exteriors.

I saw CoB at HoB Sunset a few years ago, and they were amazing. This time around was just as good. The place was sold out, so space was a little tight, but the crowd was good natured, and CoB put on an incredible show. They played super fast and tight, with lots of energy. We caught Death Angel, and they were real good too- heavy with enough melody to be interesting.

Tyr and Death Angel sounded great. Then Children Of Bodom came on who were the headliners and their sound just had a horrible mix. How can the sound man hear that and not fix it to make it sound good is beyone me, that is your job to make sure it sounds good. The mix was muddy for the entire COB show and not enjoyable.

Starting with Týr, right on time at 8 p.m., the sound was perfect. The only negative point of their set is that it was too short, but that was visibly to leave more time to the first acts. I am now ashamed I didn't know about Death Angel. Can't say much about them except they have great energy (for a band that's been touring for around 30 years!) and gave an excellent performance. I'll definitely know more of Death Angel the next time I see them! And then there were Children of Bodom. My first time seeing CoB since I first began listening to them around 10 years ago. They played songs from their whole discography and it was perfect! I'd see it again tomorrow hands down! Bodom line: ATTEND THE TOUR!!!

this was my first metal concert with my fiance, Eluveitie ruled! i loved the way they intregrated the hurdy gurdy i never have seen one. And it was a very interesting band to watch they really had the energy up and going crazy. i was not that impressed with bodom but they were good, but the keyboard could have been turned up a bit more, the energy was not there but others may say different. i was mostly excited until children of bodom came on and then the energy just sank.

All three of the opening bands were great but Eluveitie stood out in particular. They did a great job of getting everyone fired up and had the audience do a wall of death (My first). They even had everyone chanting to a song that i'd assume almost none of the audiance knew before the show. But COB was great! They may have realized that their latest two albums weren't particularly popular and only played two songs from them. They played three encore songs, between which Jenne, Alexi, and Jaska were making jokes and having fun with the audience. The performance was phenomenal. The whole band was very energetic and and instrumentally spot on. Highly recommended!

I came to see C.O.B., the headlining act. It's my 3rd time seeing them, and once again they gave an impeccable performance. Alexi was again a great front man, interacted with the crowd, and the energy was great.

It is very rare for me to enjoy a concert when I don't know half of the playbill. For this particular show, I had no idea who Obscura or Septic Flesh were. I did not expect how impressive those two groups would be. But, once Obscura got into the flow of their set, the crowd exploded into pits and people crowdsurfing within the first five minutes. So, practically at the start of the night the energy from everyone was peaked. And it lasted for the entire night. I don't know about everyone else that went, but that was a first for me. Usually I go to a show and there are groups on the bill that I don't know, and they end up being horrible and -no one- cares for them. The exact opposite happened with these guys. Septic Flesh, too, kept things going, albeit with a much darker ambiance. Immense fog and strobe lights made their set pretty intense... Unfortunately, apparently one of the fog machines caught fire and they had to stop playing. Though, that led to one of the funnier moments of the night for, when the house lights came on during their set and the rest of the band stopped playing, their drummer was still going through whatever song they were playing at full force until someone got his attention. Of course, Devin Townsend followed this, and pretty much ripped the building apart. If anything I was mostly looking for to his set since I have never seen him live before. Now that I have, I heavily doubt that I will ever miss a chance to see him again, he was outstanding. His music, driven by pulse pounding percussion and earth shattering riffs were only further accentuated by his sheer presence on stage. Obviously Children of Bodom were the titans of the night, and for good reason. They don't call Alexi the 'Wildchild' for nothing, and the group as a whole never disappoint. I've seen Children of Bodom three times before tonight, and they always put on an awesome show.

Alexi is as spirited as he is talented. He's an impressive songwriter as well as musician. I can't get enough Bodom. If you are into melodic, shredding metal with harsh vocals, then there's no doubt you are already familiar with this act.
