The Pointer Sisters

I don't write reviews all that often. However, Ruth, Issa, and Sadako performed all the original songs flawlessly. I paid a little extra to get seats near the stage and it was well worth it. Ruth put on a show worthy of someone half her age. Her daughter Issa and grand-daughter Sadako absolutely do justice to the original Pointer Sister's sound. My 24 year old daughter went to this concert with my wife and I and she also felt that the performance was incredible. At one point during the performance Ruth stopped to introduce the members of her band, her grand-daughter, daughter, and herself. The audience gave her a standing ovation that went on for about 5 solid minutes. Ruth was very touched, it nearly brought her to tears, but I think it also invigorated her and she sang like she wanted to earn the applause the fans gave her. If they're performing again near me I will absolutely plan to see them again.

This was an event I will always remember. Front row center was a chance in a lifetime. The ladies were very personable. At the end of the show they reached out and thanked those in front with a hand shake. All three ladies looked fantastic and sounded even better than I imagined they would. I hope they return again.

The show was great. They are just as good as they were 30 years ago.

The show was wonderful. The group can really sing and their songs brought back great memories. Since it was an older group not many were on their feet dancing to the music. I did a lot of dancing in my seat and had to control myself.

The Pointer Sisters show was excellent. Their voices still soar, they performed all the hits, and were extremely gracious with the fans. I highly recommend this wonderful act.

High energy--dancin' in the aisles music. Never out of date--never out of touch. Feel good and soulful, too.

A great show from start to finish. Ruth & Anita still have their amazing vocal quality & Shadako is a true compliment to this group. The energy of the show just kept building & the 2nd half of their performance was electric. Even before the end, the entire audience was on their feet. The individual & joint talent of the Pointer Sisters' band was awesome.

The Opening Act was Sayed Sabrina who was AWFULLLLL!! She just did this annoying Janis Joplin screaming and growling and she pranced around the stage in a dress and leggings that were 2 sizes too small w/unruly hair. She should be performing at a strip club and not opening for the Pointer Sisters. She lacks the requisite class, grace and TALENT to open or share a stage with the PS. We seriously contemplated leaving during her set...boy were we glad we didn't let her run us off! The Pointer Sisters were AMAZING...Beyond AMAZING!! They played all of their top hits and there were more than I remembered. At 66 and 68, Anita and Ruth look AMAZING and their voices sound as good as they did in the 80's! Ruth's granddaughter Sadako acts as a replacement for the dearly departed June and she adds a lot of Beyonce-esque sass and youth to their performance. I wish they were doing 2 shows at the Saban because we would have come again-only skipped the opening act!! So happy the Pointer Sisters are still "ON POINT" and just as relevant as they were in the 70's and 80's!!

The Pointer Sisters brought it to the Saban Theater. Their voices were amazing and they knew how to work a crowd. Fabulous show!! The granddaughter that made up the trio was amazing and brought some extra fun to the show. Great voice and adorable!!! The set list was perfection :)

What a great night. The Pointer Sisters were as strong as ever. They encouraged the crowd to dance and to have tons of fun. That is exactly what we did. We danced all night. The Sisters were very friendly and welcoming to the audience. Fantastic show!

Last Thursday evening I took in a show billed as The Night of Proms . The nice 2 level theater with great sound and sight lines was almost at the 6000 capacity thanks to many comp d tickets and generous ½ price deals leading up to the show. I, like many, got my tickets for free. I didn t really have a grasp of what the evening was to entail otherwise I might have passed on the show even though it was free . I thought it was being advertised as Night of Proms because of the four groups in the line-up: The Pointer Sisters, Nile Rodgers, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald. You know, older groups, maybe prom type music in the 70 s and 80 s. Wow, was I WRONG! I had heard there was an orchestra but it still didn t click. Later I would find out that Night of Proms is an Orchestra, Choir and Opera show that has been in Europe for some time and they will feature rock and pop acts. This is its first time to America. I think it originated in Belgium. The show was almost 4 hours long about and only about an hour of it were the four acts I went there to see. Basically it was classical music and some opera for 30 minutes then you got 15 minutes of one of the rock/pop artist. Sure everything sounded good, a great light show, they tried to incorporate some humor with the opera but overall IT WAS A BREAT DOWN! There was a host sort of a Lawrence Welk kind a guy who talked between most of the songs. The classical music they was more well know sopngs. I had heard much of it before, and they played whatever the song is that Iron Maiden used as the intro on the Brave New World tour. That was cool. However if it hadn t been for that fact that I had never seen any of the 4 acts and it was a 40 minute from my home drive I would left!! The best part of the evening was seeing McDonald and Loggins duet on This is it and What a fool believes , I don t how often you get you to see that. When the Pointer Sisters hit the stage(40 minutes into the show) they exploded with some much needed energy. They looked good and sounded good. 30-40 minutes later Kenny Loggins played. This guy is still stick thin and very youthful despite being in his 60 s. I didn t know his 1st song; he did a lame sing a long on the 2nd song. His last 3 songs were good. At some point in the 2nd Act Nile Rodgers finally played. I love all his old disco and funk music, but he only got to play 3 songs. He did get the place on its feet. There was some guy that wrote and played for Tina Turner he did a few songs even a good version of Queen s Bohemian Rhapsody. Then another 30-40 minutes went by and Michael McDonald played. He was really over weight and bloated. He still has that distinctive voice but he seemed to be struggling in the short time he was on stage. At the end everyone came out on stage and played We are family . Very quality performers but it just wasn t my thing. Of course many shows might have been a let-down after seeing Boston the night before. The show of the year. Exciting and dynamic, everything I expected and more.

My wife, Daughter and Son-In-Law all attended the event and we all enjoyed the concert alot. My daughter was worried that she would not know any of the songs but she knew them all.

Pure energy for 70 minutes. Wow! They were dynamite. Really fun to enjoy those great songs, some of them 20 years old but seem as fresh as yesterday. And the ladies well into their 60's showed that 60 is the new 30! Show was a little shorter than I expected, but very fun. The band was excellent too.

The Pointer Sisters concert at Columbus Commons engaged the audience with lively music sung by three women with powerful voices. I enjoyed the performance very much, but the simultaneous video on the side screens was done very poorly. The administrators of the Commons need to get more highly skilled camera personnel.

It was a lively, interactive and exhilarating. A concert full of fun and amazing music and singing . In addition , the band, together with the Pointers Sisters, was out of this world!!!!! It was a night full of fun, we wanted to get up and dance!!!!!

It was a beautiful show with a lot of good memories. The Pointers Sisters still have energy and the meaning of entertainment. The musicians was simply excellent with a marvellous sense of rhythm. I recommanded highly these singers, the harmony of their voices will give you a feeling of those years when it was a mix of good melodies and good performance. It takes a couple of days to get out of the fabulous atmosphere of this show. A must !!!

Not the same as the original sisters. Kind of like a lounge show.

This show was outstanding! Had I known that the theater was this intimate and the sound quality this good, I'd have made the trek for far more shows than this. The staff are extremely polite, the atmosphere in the theater itself was comfortable, and the entire show seemed to be meticulously monitored so that the lighting and sound levels were absolute perfection.

These ladies were totally awesome! The show was entertaining, and the ladies were coreagraphed and doing the same movements. It was a joy to watch and to listen. The band was also great! I forgot that they had so many great songs.

This was fantastic!!! Our group really enjoyed the show. They rocked and sung songs people know. The audience was up on their feet dancing. The show appeals to young, old, black, and white alike. It is a must see! I highly reco the time wmmend!

They came on stage and the party didn't stop. Their voices are the instruments that time enhanced even with the new additions to the group. A show not to miss.

This was the second time in less than 6 months that we have seen them. If at all possible this show was even better than the first.

While only Ruth of the original Pointer Sisters could make it, nothing was detracted by the performances of her daughter and granddaughter. It was fun to watch the grey-headed audience on their feet and dancing like they were teenagers again! A wonderful show worth much more than the price I paid.

Short but Sweet! Ruth's daughter and granddaughter were very talented but would have enjoyed it more had all the sisters been there.

Absolutely one of the finest shows I have seen in years...and I have seen and loved all the Circe de Soleil shows. The ladies are true cultural jewels and have a "light" of their own that makes you smile for days.

We went to the show expecting to see the Pointer Sisters, but there were only 1 of the original singers that performed. The other 2 singers were one of the singers daughter, and grand daughter. I paid to see the original 3.

What a fabulous, fun filled evening.. The girls were full of energy and sang their hearts out! We LOVED it!

It was a nice show. Lots of country songs, some of the hits came later. No "automatic" :(

This was my first time seeing The Pointer Sisters in concert, and I was glad my sister and I did! This is a group that has had so many hits that I loved when I was in middle school in the 80's and they brought back all of those memories for sure! It was great to see two out of four of the original members Anita and Ruth, and Ruth's granddaughter Sadako who is the new member of the group. All three of these women look amazing, and Ruth and Anita look and sound as good as they did back in the day. They sung all of their famous hits, and I was chair dancing all night! They even sung a forgotten favorite of mine, Dare Me, so I was very surprised and that ended up being my favorite part! This was a great show, and even more great since we had front row seats to it. All three had so much energy all night and the crowd was very into it, as when they sung Neutron Dance, the famous song from the movie Beverly Hills Cop, everyone got up out of their seats and little by little, people started coming up to the front and dancing, which I didn't mind because it was towards the end. The only song that they didn't sing that I wished they would've was You Gotta Believe from the 1976 movie Car Wash, which is one of my favorites, but that's OK, LOL. After two encores the show was over and it left everyone still wanting more! This is a show that I will definitely see again!

Amazing concert!! All the hits. Ruth still has it. The daughter and granddaughter have stepped right in to fill the shoes of their aunt and great aunt. Enjoyed it from start to finish.

Show was on New Years Eve so it started late, approx. 11PM. It ran about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Great to hear the old songs I loved growing up. There is only 1 original Pointer sister who is terrific! The other is her daughter and grand daughter. Not the same. The backup band was subpar and sounded like a wedding band. Overall enjoyed the show but not as much as other 80's acts that are touring.

The Pointer Sisters were always a great act. Great Songs, great personalities and lots of fun. Now Ruth, the only original, is singing with her daughter and granddaughter and they are wonderful.

Ruth, her daughter Issa and grand daughter Sedako really turned out BBKING. Still pros, still tight and I enjoyed the way Issa took over leads made famous by her aunts Anita and June. Sedako has amazing stage presence. Ruth of course is the glue holding this set of Pointer Sisters together. Ruth signed my copy of her autobiography! Am so glad they continue to delight audiences all over the world. C. Leon

My husband and I loved the show but felt it was too short. Would have liked more than an hour.

The Pointer Sister show was great. Ruth Pointer was absolutely amazing along with her daughter and granddaughter. Just as strong and talented as the group always was. The band is the bomb. Highly recommend seeing them all. And we loved Twin Rivers. We were amazed at the size of the complex. We don't gamble, but felt at home and safe. The staff and employees were all wonderful and accommodating. Its a great place to see a show so relaxed. And a great place to eat so many choices, and we are sure a really fun place to gamble and play the machines. And I loved that you could buy drinks at the concert!

The show was great. Ruth's daughter and granddaughter have amazing voices and fit right in. Loved hearing all those songs again.

Still got it! With only 1 original member, Ruth Pointer, the show still goes on! Ruth has enlisted her granddaughter and her daughter (not her granddaughter's mother), to perform the old hits. The show did not disappoint. Issa (Ruth's daughter) has a set of pipes on her. In my opinion, she has definitely inherited a great talent and was fun to watch. They all sounded great, and I would recommend this show. Keep it going ladies! You have something good going there! :)

I bought tickets as a birthday gift for my husband. We first say the Pointer Sisters at the Music Tent in Cohasset at LEAST 30 years ago. But their music has always been favorites of ours. I didn't realize 2 of the sisters are gone, but the Pointer Team did not disappoint! the voices, energy, movements.... ALL wonderful. And as I turned to see my husband - he was standing, waving his arms, singing along..... He must have thanked me 10 times this weekend and tells everyone we met how great they were. When are they coming back????

Show was great. Seating was not. Had tickets on the floor and people were standing in in front of us.

The Pointer Sisters is made up of 3 generations of Pointers. The original , the daughter, and granddaughter.

The Pointer Sister was really great. They were very engaging and interact greatly with the audience. Ruth Pointer was really classy, smooth and still have her great powerful voice. LUV IT!!!

The show would have been so much better, had Anita been there. Not to take anything away from the other girls. But , I wanted to see the original girls that made these songs famous. Ruth had a delivery of her songs, that no one else can match. the strength and experience was there. and I would of loved to of heard Anita's voice doing the same.

I was nervous going in. After 40 years, what would they be like? We found out - phenomenal. Ruth and Anita sounded amazing after all these years, and Ruth's granddaughter was wonderful in the spot left by sister June. The were funny, charming and sincere. They sang all of their biggest 80s hits, plus a few echoes of their 70s music as well. It was a fan's dream come true.

Only 1 of "The Pointer Sisters" actually performed that night. Ruth Pointer had her daughter and her granddaughter onstage with her to perform many of their hits. The concert was just over 1 hour long and if they had not come back to perform a 20 minute oncore I think the audience would have felt very disappointed with the act. The back up band performed very well!

Sadly, the show we saw on New Years Eve should have been titled the Ruth Pointer family singers. While Ruth, her daughter and her grandaughter did a nice selection of the Pointer Sister hits and the band was OK it lacked the harmonies, energy and vocal tightness I expeted. It was comparable to a local Twin Cities B level club performance. Perhaps it should have been obvious given the hits occurred 40 years ago that we were not likely to see the original product. However, the fact that there was only 1 pointer sister felt like a bit of a bait and switch.

The Pointer Sisters' concert was fantastic! All their hits plus many more songs! If you can see them in any other venue, do it!
