Alison Krauss

Alison Krause has the most angelic voice on Earth. She is interactive with the crowd, but not so much as to take away from the music. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to see her live.

Great show. Great set list. Never disappoints. No union station but the band was great!

I wasn't particularly impressed with the opening act, but getting to see Alison perform with Sydney and Suzanne Cox, and even a few members of Union Station (Ron Block and Barry Bales) was an EXTREMELY PLEASANT surprise! My friend and I were blown away by the musicianship and the incredible vocals...chills and hair standing on end, are the only way I can describe it! It was phenomenal! The venue was really nice; however, the rows were so long and so close together, that if your seats were toward the middle (like ours were) and you had any sort of emergency, it would be VERY difficult to get out in a timely manner, and it would interrupt/disturb others from enjoying the show.

Alison and her band are tops in bluegrass and Jerry Douglas is amazing.

Alison has an unvelievable voice. And Union Station was incredible, as always. Jerry Douglas can pick with the best of them! What a wonderful night!

I cannot emphasize enough the clarity ov her voice and the inability of digital media to reproduce it. The concert was amazing. My wife and I did have the misfortune to be seated in front of a drunk who thought he was at a Jimmy Buffet concert and screamed for everything except "cheeseburger."

This concert was amazing. A nice mix of her new songs mixed well with old favorites. Nicely paced with occasional interactions personally shared with the crowd, letting us know a little more about each member of her group. Felt like I was back home, sitting in the living room with my family.

Been a fan since I caught her singing in a Telluride bar in the late 80s, before Union Station was named. Her voice seems even better than when she last toured with Union Station- she sings like an angel, truly mastering every note, seemingly effortless. The band just amazes you with their skill and professionalism. Perfection personified, polished to brilliance. Two and a half hours went by in a blink of an eye, Alison and the band only breaking for Jerry Douglas' traditional solo dobro extravaganza mid-show. I hope the smallish crowd (approx 2/3 Comerica's capacity) doesn't suggest to AK that Phoenicians don't care!

This is the absolute Best group of song writers, Best female singer, Best bluegrass group assembled on 1 stage since Loretta Lynn, Earle Struggs, Vince Gill & Amy Grant sang at the Grande Ole Opry! See the angel voice sing live while you can!

It's the first concert I've been to where they just walked out and started singing. It was unusual, but worked, I think. Alison sounds exactly like she does on the cd. EXACTLY. Dan's voice was amazing, and the playing was dizzying to watch. I thought his fingers would ignite! The only downside would have to be the audience members who thought it'd be clever to recreate the "I love you Alison....I love you more" from the live cd. Really? I'm sure they hear that every town. They ignored it, but I was irritated. I expected it, but hoped we'd be better than that. Sigh. Nope.

I have seen Allison Kraus several times; but seeing her in the Saenger Theater in New Orleans was the best !

She has the voice of an angel. Awesome show and loved the stage setup as well

How could you go wrong? Allison's ethereal voice is satisfying enough and the addition of her musicians and the beautifully restored Saenger will yield you the perfect musical outing in New Orleans. I could go again right now.

Alison is always excellent. The only negative is the audience celebration thru out the music. I did not appreciate the audience whooping it up during each song. It is so distracting. Save it for the conclusion of the event!

It was back to the future with Alison. Lots of old music. Songs you haven't heard in a long time, plus some some songs that were just album cuts. While there were only 2 members of Union Station, the additions were great. An added bonus was the Cox Family. A great concert indeed.

This was our second time seeing Alison Krauss. She was just as amazing as I remembered her being when we saw her 15 years ago. Her band was equally talented!!

Alison Krauss has the most amazing voice. If you like her on the radio you will LOVE her in person. Just a breathtaking voice.

This was my first time at the Saenger Theatre. It was breath taking!! Allison gave an unforgettable performance. It is like hearing angels sing. She brought tears to my eyes. I will definitely see her again!!!

The venue is beautiful and Alison Krauss is a pleasure to watch. Do not pass up a chance to see someone so talented.

Warm up band was good, not great for sure. Allison sang mostly the new country stuff in the beginning. Not a great fan of that music. When she started singing bluegrass and gospel, the house went crazy. No one has a voice like hers. The addition of the Cox family was great. The voices harmonized well together.

I love Allison Krause. I was surprised and disappointed that her band, Union Station, was not with her. Jerry Douglas and Dan Timinsky were absent. They are the core of her band's sound. Very disappointed. Be warned if you love the "original" Union Station.

Combine Allison Krauss, the Cox Family and her Dee White and his band and you have one great evening of entertainment. Starting act, Dee White was very good with a solid 1 hour set. Allison Krauss hit the stage with at least 1 1/2 hours of magic. Really had a great time listening to favorites and new selections. For those that rushed out to beat the traffic, you missed the best part. A single microphone, two acoustic guitars, and a variety of singers surrounding Allison and you have a fantastic demonstration of vocals. Also, the Smart Financial Centre is one of the best venues in the Houston area.

Allison was great as usual. But her band was not the one displayed in the ad for the tickets. Seems union station has split up with only 2 oringinal members still playing. Dan Kaminski and Jerry Douglas will be missed!

Allison Krauss's talent is her voice and she has been blessed with that talent from God. Her voice is heaven captured in the confines of a theatre. It soars into the rafters as if an angel carried it there for the pleasure of heaven. I've attended many excellent performances, e.g., the Young Rascals, the Youngbloods, Los Lobos, and Benny Carter, Buddy DeFranco, Jimmy Knepper & Phil Woods, et al. She is a vocalist who will rank among the great female vocalist of this time.

I've seen her several times. Her voice is simply amazing. Blessed by a beautiful bluegrass singer.

Chill bumps the whole night! It was like another world. The audience was so quiet so as to hear Alison all the better.

Good music, great atmosphere, good dinner prior...

Been a fan for long time but first time live and it was fabulous. She sang all night without a break. Every song was perfect and moving. I think Alison is the most talented performer on tour. Her covers were unbelievable - always loved Willy's Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground but she made it even better. Great night!

Beautiful Voice, Beautiful Lady! Sang songs from her newest album Windy City as well as old favorites.

My wife and I went as part of her birthday celebration. Entry into the Smart Financial Center parking lot was quick and easy using the Ticketmaster smart phone app. Getting into the venue itself was smooth and easy as well. The show started on time with Dee White, who is a promising talent and very enjoyable. Alison and company took the stage after a short intermission to change the stage. She put on a wonderful performance, with some of her best work either being done acapella or with just a few instruments. Her voice is truly amazing. This was our second time seeing her in person and would certainly love to see and hear her again.

Did not care for her song selection the last half of the concert. I was very disappointed

Saw Alison Krauss perform this past week at the Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, Texas. This was my third time seeing her perform live and as usual she was amazingly good. This time she was without her long time backing group Union Station, and the first couple of songs were not typical mountain folk style songs. I couldn t help but wonder what was going on when these songs featured electric guitar and rock style drums, with her second number sounding like something from the Santana playbook. But as the evening progressed,she gave us lots of different sounds and se worked in all of the standards ( Now that I ve Found You , When You Say Nothing At All , Down to the River to Pray , etc. Her accompanying vocalists TheCox s weeeexcellent as we re all the backing musicians who included two from Union Station. My only complaint from a performance perspective was that the opening act (sorry I don t remembered their name) was not good despite coming all the way from Nashville. One dreary song after another with lame vocals from the band s front man. As to the venue, the acoustic quality was excellent, but the assistance finding and getting to our seats was poor, and the popcorn purchased at one of the concession booths had the texture of a batch popped days earlier and reheated before being served. So in summary \u2014 Alison Krauss was wonderful, her opening act was dreadful, and the venue did not have me falling in love with it.

Alison Krauss and her stunning voice were front and center at Smart Financial Centre, singing 23 songs from across her career with an excellent band, including two members of Union Station. Even the stage setup was well done. If you are thinking of attending an upcoming date on this tour, get tickets, you won't be sorry. Two thumbs way, way up!

Concert was amazing and the stage set was well done to make you feel like you were in Krauss' home. Nice to hear some of the stories about her band and how she met them. The arena is amazing and not a bad seat in the house. You can bring your purchased drinks into the theater for the show. Absolutely prefer to see a concert hear rather than the larger venues in Houston.

Amazing musicians. A must see. I could have lived without the opening act, but Allison and her guests were exceptional!

Her voice is unparalleled. She didn't leave the stage the entire time and quickly went from song to song. The night was jam-packed with fantastic songs, and the audience was mesmerized and audibly gasped when she first started singing. Her voice is so beautiful. One of the best concerts I've ever attended.

Excellent concert last night. Dead center, row 34. The musicianship and sound quality was magnificent. Any audio person would appreciate the sonic balance they achieved. The Nashville band, Dee White opened with 6 mostly original songs. Dee is a very good vocalist and songwriter with a young fiddle player who looked like Allison Krause. Allison plays with 3 members of Union Station with whom she goes back 26 years. She has added Susan and Sydney Cox from the Cox Family who I like mucho and have two of their albums. They performed many of the songs on Brother, Where Art Thou. Sydney has replaced Jerry Douglas on slide laptop guitar (and vocals) using a Martin style, very sweet sounding instrument compared to Jerry D's which was a National Steel dobro style with the more dominant banjo type of twang to each note. They closed with a medley from that movie score and then four beautiful folk-style gospel songs. This appeared to really move the audience who stood for the last two clapping along. Both bands put out a richly textured, nuanced sound. No drum solos or high pitched electric guitar. Those can be cool too but not for last night.

Before this concert I had only seen Alison Krauss on tv and always admire her tone-pure sweet voice. But seeing her live added the intimacy that proved extremely emotional. Her rendition of Willie's "Angel Flying too Close to the Ground" brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. Martina was right.

This was a surprise gift concert for my beautiful wife for our anniversary to see Alison Krauss. We started our evening enjoying the Smoked Prime Rib at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill, Amazing food and cocktails as always! We were amazed at how talented and funny Alison Krause was, Absolutely Beautiful Voice and the backup singers and Band were fantastic!

First time seeing this artist. Performance was fantastic. Venue was great. Would love to go again. No complaints!

The music was perfect and unforgettable. Alison Krauss has an amazingly clear and strong voice, and Union Station backs her up without flaw. Highlights were her singing songs from her new album, plus Dan Tyminski singing "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" from the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". Also, the encore was just Alison and the main Union Station members surrounding a single microphone, singing their early hits and highlights from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". What a treat. Highly recommended, but don't expect flash and effects, and don't expect any jumping around on the stage. These guys could have been giving a private recital in my living room. It was intimate and lovely. Jerry Douglas was amazing to watch on the dobro. Before the concert, I bought a few of their albums -- after the concert, I bought the rest! There's real talent here.

Alison Krauss and Union Station were great. They played all the music you expected and had fun on stage which made it fun for the audience.

Nothing fancy about this group, just great music with a singer who has a fantastic voice.

The music was excellent great band and sound just way too hot for a show at mud island amphitheater they need to shade the concrete stadium during the day as it puts off heat for several hours after sundown too big of a thermal mass

Alison Krauss and band were great. The sound in this venue (Smart Financial Centre) is very good. I didn t care for the opening group (I think they were called DW) awful. That 35 minutes felt like an hour and a half. It took hearing 4-5 songs from Alison Krauss to recover my desire to even be there.

We felt like we were in a Church Revival Boot Camp. Her songs were mostly religious- not exactly what I was respecting. I only recognized two of her songs: 'You're the Lucky One' and 'You say it best when you say nothing at all'- the rest I had no idea. My first clue of the performance should have been when she and Ms. Cox were dressed in Polygamy-type dresses: Covered all skin except face and hands. Won't waste my $97.61 per ticket on her again ($79.50 for ticket plus processing fee charged by Ticketmaster) times 3. What a waste! HOWEVER, the piano player was bad ass!

My wife treated me to the Alison Krauss concert for my birthday-it was great! She s not just for Bluegrass fans; she covers several different genres with her music, and is getting more diverse with every album. The Saenger Theater was a perfect venue for it, too!

Excellent band. Barry Bails is a tremendous bassist & love Tom Block. It was a special night also to hear the Coxes.

The Saenger Theatre was the perfect venue to see Allison Krauss. I brought my husband to the concert to see one of his favorite performers to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. It was a great night with true, gifted musicians and wonderful New Orleans memories.

She sounds as great live as she does recorded. Voice of an angel!

Allison put on a great show. Her voice was, as always, lovely. Memphis Amphitheater was a great venue but it would have been better to have the concert in cooler weather. Middle of July in Memphis TN. is very hot!! Overall, it was worth it though.

She was better in person than on her albums!!!! I had a great time! The Saenger is Beautiful!

Alison Krauss was in fine voice and the addition of the Cox Family members was a welcome addition to the show. Her band was in very fine form as well. Interesting stage decor, very tasteful with the props and antique rug etc etc. A very good show even in the oppressive Memphis Heat. The venue......well...as a lifelong Memphian, our city has let the Amphitheater sit neglected too long. Concessions were poorly prepared for the show. If you like Alison Krauss, you will enjoy this show. Well Done!!

MANY rude people thought it was a good idea to hold their phones up with camera lights on and video concert. Very disturbing. Start throwing a few people out for recording concerts and the problem might diminish a bit.

Allison Kraus and her group showed us an enchanting evening.

I purchased two tickets as soon as they went on sale knowing I wouldn't have any problem finding a "date" to attend with. My husband was the lucky one. We made the drive from Mobile, AL on Friday, checked in to our hotel in plenty of time to eat out. Allison and Union Station (and Louisiana natives, the Coxes) did not disappoint. Such a pleasant, entertaining evening. I love the New Orleans Saenger and have attended other concerts and shows there. It is always well worth the drive!

This was an amazing performance by a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice and an exceptionally talented back up band. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect without Union Station, but the supporting cast of characters did not disappoint. The acapella songs were stunning. Thank you Alison and band for an amazing night of entertainment!

To have the joy of hear Allison in person was amazing! My husband said it would be worth losing sleep for 3 days to get to see her!

Alison sang all of the songs we have loved for years and mixed in some of her new material. Closed with a gospel section that brought tears to my eyes.

She was so pure and full of her love of music. Her voice is incredible. While many need to have their voice artificially enhanced her voice is so pure that it s unbelievable. I wish she would have played more bluegrass and less gospel but it was nevertheless beautiful.

Alison Krauss voice is Angelic. That being said, I thought there was too much Gospel Music to end the concert. Overall I very much enjoyed her show.

Alison Krauss is one of the most talented musicians I have seen. The venue is wonderful; in a great location with hotels, restaurants and everything you need within easy walking distance. 2 suggestions: I was expecting Union Station to be her back-up band and although the people she used were good, they were not as good as Union Station who are world class. Also, there were a few too many gospel songs, I would have liked to hear more of her uptempo hits. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed it.

We came to see Alison , not the warm-up band. They were certainly good musicians and if they had played more "known" songs it would have been tolerable ,but as always , they played mostly unknown songs and lost the audiences enthusiasm. Alison Krauss is always a joy to hear, I missed her usual "Union Station! " Things picked up near the end when the Cox family and Alison started "rocking" with some gospel type songs Her rendition of "When you say nothing at all " was weak, more like an obligatory requirement . I'm sure she's tired of singing that wonderful song, but that's what most went to hear.

Allison Kraus put on a fantastic show. She sang so many great songs. Her band was so talented. The only downside, that Win Star Event Center has seats all on the same level until Section D. We were in Section C & had a hard time seeing screens & stage because of tall people sitting in front of us.

I have really enjoyed seeing shows at Winstar. The venue is small enough that there is no bad seat, and I've always enjoyed my time there. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with this show. I've been a long-time fan and was really looking forward to it, but I didn't hear much of the music I love from Alison Krauss. I thought the show was really short and she only did a lot of her gospel-type music. Disappointing, but I would have regretted not seeing her, so now I know!
