Beck
Alt-rock icon and master of reinvention Beck made a return to form of sorts in 2014 with Morning Phase, a companion album to 2002's beloved Sea Change. Beck was so personal and his voice was right on key for a live performance. Before each song he talked a little about how he got the idea for the song and offered background information about it. Made the concert more interactive and fun. Great variety of old and new songs. The psychedelic laser visuals on the big screen in the background were also amazing and enhanced each song. He said it was the first time playing Madison Square Garden. Really nice crowd. I hope he comes back again!

This was a good show. The Pearl supplied their ample JbL rig that was barely breathing for most of the first half. This was a decidedly calm show. The demogaphic was white 30-50 and mostly couples with a few hipsters and lone wolves. Lets just say that most people in the room were Star Wars fans.. Even the stage crashers were allowed to linger for up to a minute before the stage manager posing as security wandered out to offer a hand in helping the lost souls find their way off stage.. There was no opening act and that was Ok, although starting 50 minutes late was not. 49$ per ticket was right on track with the level of staging and production, 23$ for two drinks was not.

Beck and band clearly needed this show to prepare for their slot at Outside Lands, but despite some mistakes and missed lines, they were loose and engaged, Beck was in a joking mood, and they played a tremendous set. At Bimbo's!

Seen Beck perform before several times but this show a real bummer...the show was being filmed and greatly took away from the performance...Helicopter hovering overhead for the first 15 minutes of the show muffling the sound, no less than six camera men on stage for the entire performance hovering around and frequently blocking the performers and distracting Beck from his performance and a camara boom hovering literally six inches over my head in general admission. Not to mention I found the set list not the best and Beck himself very lifeless part of which I attribute to not having any room on stage to move around due to the camara men. Love Beck but not sure I would go see him again...very disappointing that he would allow this to happen.

And Sea Change songs make me want to slit my wrists. This was my first time to the Napa Uptown Theatre and it is now one of my favorite venues. Here's an insider tip: skip the bars at the entrance and head straight to the outside bar that is accessible through inside of the venue. The lines are short or non-existent. There is not a bad seat in the place either. We were in balcony seats, but had a great view. The sound was superb as well. Beck did a great job and played several of my favorites and even a couple crowd-pleasers. He played with the original band from the Sea Change album, which was a treat. This was one of my most memorable shows.

Jeff can do it all - and does in this tour. Any style of music from neo clasical to avant garde & of course Blues/Rock - NO ONE does it better. He brings a solid group the female bassist is particularly strong and at least in Pittsburgh a great young guitar player as a warm up act. If you didn't think this was at least 4*'s you probably don't really like this kind of music and certainly never played the guitar! He did a great Hendrix - probably a lot better than the couple of tribube bands touring last year (which I didn't see).

Good show, always entertaining.. I was way up in the back at United Place on the balcony, so definitely not the best seats in the house, but still sounded good. He always appears to be slightly uncomfortable on stage, but he doesn't disappoint and just keeps cranking good stuff.. Definitely a fairly mellow show, but great venue and a good time.. particularly after squeezing in a little Malecon across the street... Can't go wrong.

Ever buy tickets thinking... "well I'm not really that big of a fan... " then become a fan at the show? That was Beck. I think his live show just blows away his recorded material. and I'm not saying that to be mean. He is just a total showman and really brings it. I am so glad I bought the tickets and when we got home my wife searched to see if he was playing again with driving distance, it was that good!

I was pessimistic at first considering Beck was playing at DeVos Performance Hall. Let's be honest; DeVos Performance Hall normally has symphonies and music classical in nature. Maybe I haven't lived in Grand Rapids long enough but I don't ever recall an act as progressive as Beck ever being played at DeVos. Beck's set list was so eclectic there wasn't one song he played that would not have pleased anyone in attendance. I can honestly say the gravity of this show was more than uplifting and beyond anything I could have ever expected. I can't name every single song Beck and his band played but he has a very large catalog to choose from and highlighted the music from over a decade very well. The crowd was having a super time. Everyone was dancing and singing along and everyone was very laid back. I cannot emphasize more what a fantastic show this was. Conservative old Grand Rapids needs more shows like this in the future. It's nice to know there are like minds out there when you think you're all alone. Sean Lennon's band opening for Beck was merely the icing on the cake. Amazing show, amazing people, amazing time. Bravo!!!!!

I've seen Beck perform multiple time over the years. Once in 2008 after Modern Guilt came out, again in 2013 after The Song Reader, and then last Tuesday July 1st at Summer Stage after his release of Morning Phase. Each performance has showcased off songs from the new albums while seamlessly transitioning into older hits. The flow of the show is great - they play louder more rambunctious hits followed by the quieter more mellow songs. Beck plays to his audience, gamely dancing towards the front of the stage for pictures. His concerts never disappoint, it is clear that through years of performing he has the formula of a great show down to a science.

After listening to Beck for 20 years or so and never having had a real opportunity to see him since I lived in FL most of that time, I really didn't know what to expect. He played some great new songs from Morning Phase and then started to turn up the heat with heavier stuff and ended with the classics. He even invited people to get up from their theater seats and hang out in front of the stage, which we did. He was chatty and friendly and even brought a couple of kids up on stage to play tambourine and maracas which they got to take home. Great setlist and friendly venue staff

Excellent show!! Beck hasn't had many live dates as of late, so I jumped at the chance to check it out. it was really great. Rolling through some of the 'radio hits' along with some B-sides, that only true fans would know. He's band is made up of mostly session players, Justin Meldal-Johnsen s bass playing and crazy fro was great. Smokey Hormel on guitars, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. on the keyboards & Joey Waronker on drums. They play tight as pros but keeps it cool like a garage band. Beck's guitar playing reminds me a little of Jack White's, but without all the hostility. Just easy going and simple. Over all great show! Security was pretty weak since 3 fans decided to run on stage and pretend to be part of the show.

This show was amazing. Luckily, I was in the very front row! After too many years, it is great to have my favorite musician on tour again. :) The whole show was being taped by large cameras and one camera man said it was for a documentary. Hopefully we will be able to see a DVD or online video of the show soon! Beck sounded amazing and played a lot of songs from Sea Change since he was on tour with the band from the album. He also played his biggest hits (like "Loser", "Where It's At") and some welcome surprises such as "Hotwax". This was my 4th time seeing Beck and he sounded better than ever at this show.

Beck put on a truly inspired show. He of course played his hits and some of his new songs, but also had the courage to play some acoustic songs with invited guests. They were beautifully done and the crowd was with him the whole way. He can equally rock out, or sing a ballad. This is my second Beck concert and it will not be my last.

The strobe lights at the back of the stage shining into the audience turned the performers into silhouettes most of the time. The sound wasn't too clear, especially with reverb on the vocals, making it sound like a recording instead of live. The acoustic set weak and under-rehearsed. Something in between the two extreme formats would have been best. Die-hard Beck fans were satisfied, I guess, but those of us who just "like" him left not liking him anymore than when we walked in. It was nice to hear him reminisce, though, and his signature songs really packed a punch, so on balance it was worth it.

I ve seen Beck many many times. He always puts on a great show. This one started late and ran too short. Could have easily skipped having an opening act and played a longer set, especially considering this was his first MSG show. That said, it was still a fun show. We had overpriced super distant seats with a partially obstructed view, in that the speakers blocked a portion of the screens behind the musicians. What we could see of the visuals looked cool. Overall, I had a better time seeing him at Prospect Park from right up front for about half the price. And he played a longer set there. This was still a fun time, but it felt rushed.

I've wanted to see Beck for a few years, so when the MSG show was announced, I grabbed tickets. Little did I know it was his first time ever playing the Garden. WOW! He played his best-of music and the video graphics throughout the show were spectacular. My only regret is that he didn't have any cameras on him and the band! I forgot how small a band can be on stage!! But otherwise, really glad I was there for Beck's First.

Beck's "Colors" Tour at the famous Fox theater was an incredible experience and one that I had looked forward to for years. The beautiful theater interior and memorizing stage effects were the perfect backdrop to the performance. Spanning every album, from huge hits to cult classics the musical lineup was everything I could have hoped for. The rendition of "Loser" was my standout highlight and even included audience participation, and as an added bonus knocked an item off my bucket list. This was a great experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike and something I wont soon forget.

Here s the scoop fellow BECK fans, if you dig what he lays down in his vids, you ll dig the live show! To sum it up real quick, if you are into sitting in your seat, this is not the show for you. Lights - stage set-up and sound was TOP NOTCH, total class. Started the night with Devils Haircut and ended the night with a long set rendition of Where it s at with One foot in the grave in-between and there was loads of song sampling throughout the show (very BECK). Although there was a long wait between the opening act and BECK, he didn t fail to make The Fox a huge Friday night dance party ! We even had to time to hear BECK roll solo with his acoustic were took requests from the audience. BECK wants you to be 100% into being right there with him as he goes with the flow of the night and feeds off the energy of the crowd. He d make great comments like, Ok, now I think we are all alone now , and he d get on with playing a beautiful solo. All in, if you missed this show, you need to fix that in your life! Get some COLORS in your life STAT!

Beck is my favorite artist/orchestrator ever and this was my first Beck experience at long last. He s in a very upbeat and fun and happy place these days. The only part he needs to work on is the mid-performance break time where it s just him alone with guitar; a little clumsy and kind of an energy suck. Still satisfying but several notches less so than all the rest of the performance. Now wanna see him a few more times before either of us dies.

Beck may not seem to age, but his audience at the recent Bham show ranged from 10 years old to people in their 60's. All seemed to have a GOOD time! Beck's music, even early tracks from the 90's, are as relevant today as ever. The song shifts from moods of dance, high energy to more somber, soulful tones create a level of music diversity that most concerts lack. Beck's band was as entertaining as Beck himself. And, the stage set-up with its vivid graphics gave even the folks in the cheap seats something to see clearly and enjoy. I highly recommend this show! And for those not familiar with the BJCC "Concert Hall", the acoustics in there are fantastic (much better than the Arena)! Also all the staff was helpful and super nice. The bathrooms were kept clean and the parking was decent. So kudos to the venue too.

Beck sounds even better than he did during previous years. His voice is so SEXY that it will literally increase your blood flow rate. His new songs sound even better performed live than the studio versions. His lyrics are so SEXY and made everyone scream during the entirety of the concert. He also talked candidly during songs which was SEXY and made everyone in the audience want to marry him, or at least I did/do. Every person should be required to attend at least two Beck concerts in their lifetime. It literally alters your DNA because it is so SEXY and fun. I think the technical term is \u2018DNA Sexification . See Beck every chance you get!!

Beck never ceases to impress his fans. He put on a rockin' show at the Fox Theater, playing a nice selection of his top songs. The band had great energy, the stage lights/backscreem was ever changing, and the crowd loved every minute of it! I was down in the pit, about four people back, and couldn't be happier.

Beck shows always rank among my favorite. His songs are fun, upbeat and funky. His band is extremely tight. There are always great visuals. Beck always looks like he is having a ton of fun on stage and the crowd feeds off of it. The Hollywood Palladium is the perfect sized venue and allows you to get right up close to the band. I was 3-4 people from the stage and unlike many other shows, the crowd was respectful and you didn't have people fighting their way up to the front during the concert. Everyone was just grooving to the music and having a great time. If you looked around at the crowd, everyone's face had huge smiles throughout the show. Excellent, excellent, concert!!!

What a show! Beck is always amazing and this time was no exception. This show would blow away even the casual Beck fan: excellent song list from most of his albums, his band is still incredible (even though I really miss Justin), and the stage and lighting is awesome. The only bad thing is it's so great you don't want it to end. It's been several days and I'm still coming down from it!

First and foremost, the opportunity to see this performer live is very very rare. Beck opened with "Devil's Haircut" from his Grammy winning album, Odelay and finished nearly 2 hours and 17+ songs later with his newest hit "WoW". The Columbus open air concert venue was perfect for the show and the concertgoers, alike. The show managed to be both entertaining and intimate. Very impressive to both the superfan and novice alike in breadth. Loser is the penultimate karaoke Gen X-er anthem. E-Pro and Devil's Haircut absolutely rocked the house and Lost Cause and Wave revealed limitless depth. It was the 3rd time I have seen him in concert ( the last on the Midnight Vultures Tour in 1999). It was great to see how much he has grown and the massive catalog of material he has developed.

This was Beck - how could it be bad? Beck and the band came out rocking hard, and continued to rock until mid-way through the set, when they broke out the acoustic guitars and did a few laid back tunes. Then they ramped it back up until the eventual end of show. Beck himself appeared to be very personable and engaging with the crowd. For sure this was a great show.

Beck sounded fantastic live. 5 musicians producing a fine blend of music. Beck was very gracious and repeatedly thanked the audience for attending. The set spanned his musical career. Lighting & effects were well done. Lots of drinking at Saenger, but no one appeared to be sloshing drunk. A sophisticated crowd that appreciates the smart lyrics and music of Beck.

Beck put on a fantastic show! He played songs from all his albums, and while he stayed true to the recordings, he and the band added a personal flair so that it wasn't just like listening to the CD. Beck took time to talk to the audience. We loved his down-to-Earth, humble attitude.

I've been a fan of Beck for 20 yrs. The man is constantly reinventing himself and coming out with really cool music. Morning Phase is, imo, his best work yet. I love putting this album on, turning it up, and just laying back listening with my eyes closed. It's just puts my mind & body at ease. The show was excellent. He mixed some new w/ some classics...an excellent mix. Just wish i'd been able to attend both nights.

Getting to see a versatile performer like Beck in such an intimate environment -- a rare opportunity for such a popular musician -- was quite incredible. House of Blues New Orleans was sold out/packed (800 cap.), but there still felt like a good amount of room upstairs, and we had great sight-lines on the second balcony level. Beck played a lot of stuff from his new album Morning Phase to start, but then kicked it into high gear with his more raucous music from Odelay and other previous albums. "Hotwax" was a real highlight, and "Beercan" was a rare treat as well. 2+ hours of some amazing performances. Excellent show!!

Beck brought a fairly large band (8-10?) and played a thoroughly entertaining show, mostly songs from Colors but also some older work. He did so in a fairly high tempo, not giving you a chance to get bored. The band members seemed to have fun, playing upon introduction a few licks of one of their favorite tunes (with the others jumping in); it has been a long time I have seen that level of spontaneity.

Opening act was changed shortly before the concert. Glass animals were scheduled and I was very much looking forward to seeing them, and instead Jenny Lewis (who????) took their place. She s not even close to the same genre as Glass Animals. So that was a huge negative. Beck was very good, but only played an hour and 20 minutes or so which was a bit disappointing.

Crowd was totally underwhelming, no excitement. Just when Beck and the dance party were really getting good they finished show. Outdoor, residential area venue time constraints ruined experience for me this time. Beck is always fantastic but wish crowd was more responsive and they could have played longer!!! I want to see them at an indoor venue next.
