Consistently one of the best live shows you can see. Superb musicianship with not an electric instrument to be found. There are really no "stars" in this show since each member is an accomplished artist in their own right. It is impossible to choose a high point in an AKUS show. They're that good.

Nonetheless
A couple of things would have made this a fabulous event for me. #1- Seats closer to the artists so I could actually make out their faces and hear what was being said. #2- Being seated next to a more considerate person who would not be fiddling with their iphone/camera/recorder for the entire concert. So, I will apply what I've learned to make my next concert more enjoyable.

The organizers of this event did a fantastic job in putting together one of the best concerts I have been to in years. Every performer that evening would be worthy to watch in a solo act.

To be honest, I wouldn't have paid 20 dollars for the whole concert, but since the 150.00 I spent on 2 tickets was going to help Haiti, I can only try to think my money wasn't a waste. Alison Krauss is always good (and her band) but didn't care for any of the rest.

While parking was a big of a pain, the event was spectacular! The eclectic mix of artists were all amazing and it's always nice to see Nashville celebrities in the crowd. Compassion is a great organization and I am happy to support their efforts in Haiti.

What a great concert for a great cause. Every artist in the lineup was amazing. Alison was breathtaking as expected but something I wasn't expecting was a band called Need to Breathe. I had never heard of them and now I have their cd. They almost stole the show with their performance and beautiful harmonies. Brandon Heath, Matt Wertz, and my favorite, Dave Barnes opened the show with great songs. I wish they could of played a little longer. They also threw some surprise guests in and it made for a wonderful evening!

Very good performances by all the artists. The poster and the ticketmaster advertisement was a little bit tricky. It was advertised as Alison Krauss, Jars of Clay, Mat Kearney and others. This gave the impression that Alison Krauss was the headliner. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Alison and Union Station were the ONLY ones who received a standing ovation when they came on and left the stage. Next time, I hope I won't be fooled by the wording of the advertisement.

Every artist delivered! Incredible evening and loved the surprise of Big Kenny to wrap it up. I'm a huge Jars fan so loved them and what can I say about Alison & U.S. that hasn't been said. Need2Breath! had not heard them before (I know, I've been under a rock). There wasn't any artist that wasn't fantastic and everyone has me going to get their music if I don't have it already. All of that for such a worthwhile cause.

I attended as a birthday gift to my daughter, since she is a fan of most of the groups. Brandon Heath's songs were particularly well written and performed. Of course, loved Allison Krauss and Union Station. Sorry there weren't more females on the bill.

This event was advertised as Allison Krauss & Friends... Clearly it was more Big Kenny's friends..now hat's off to Big Kenny for organising and MCing this event - it was truly a worthwhile cause. However, the crowd was clearly disappointed that AK only performed 4 or 5 songs. While I hadn't heard of most of the other 'friends' - they were all excellent musicians. But I came to see Allison Krauss - she was the draw -along with the cause for Haiti.

My first time at the Ryman and I get to see the amazing Alison Krauss and The Union Station Band, and also Jars of Clay. . . What more could I ask for? It just doesn't get any better. All of the artists that performed tonight were at top-notch, and gave it their all. On top of that we were given a glimpse of what is going on in Haiti and an opportunity to help through Compassion International. A more complete evening just does not exist :-)

The show was a very interesting mix of artists. My top 3 favorites of the night: Alison Krauss and Union Station, Needtobreathe, and Jon Foreman of Switchfoot. Alison Krauss just blew me away, she has such a powerful voice. Matt Wertz and Dave Barnes are always fantastic and I become an even bigger fan every time I see either of them play. Mat Kearney is also a particular favorite of mine, so having the opportunity to see so many of my favorite artists on one stage in one night...awesome! What a great way to bring attention to such a worthy cause.

Good show for a good cause. Concerts should not just be enjoyable, they should also be fun. A big part of the fun for me and my family is to get to take pictures of the artist to capture the event for us to look back on in the future. We do not and will not make video or audio recordings. My complaint though is when the concert prohibits photography. If that is going to happen, then the pictures that are made by the photographers and the video camera guys who spent a considerable amount of time getting right in front of us and blocking our view should be made available for download on some web site. We did enjoy the music though. It was a good experience that could have been made a great experience if they had allowed us to take photos.

Great concert--all the musicians are incredibly talented and are given the opportunity throughout the concert to show it to the audience. Alison Krauss has a easygoing, comfortable manner on stage and has a good sense of humor that you can see when she introduces the members of Union Station. She has a fabulous voice and I wasn't a huge fan before I went (my husband always has been), but I am a huge fan now.

The concert was excellent!! The opening act was so entertaining and I love that there were just 3 musicians in the opening act; they sounded great and the singer, Kacey Musgraves is a very talented singer and songrwriter. The main attaction was so good! I have seen Alison Krauss and Union Station one other time and love the comaraderie they have between the band members. I have always wanted to see them in an outdoor venue and finally got to at the Chateau Ste. Michelle. Unfortunately, the people around me were totally abnoxious with their cell phones (taking pictures and videos and updoading to facebook) and there was a group of friends sitting behind us that talked the whole time; quite distracting. Very little enforcing of venue rules.

Stellar musicianship, Alison's voice unbelievable. I was hoping for more material off the new CD, and more uptempo material. Too many ballads for me. Also, Alison's outfit (brown top and pant/skirt) was drab and unflattering. Alison, you are beautiful - wear clothes that pop!

Everything about this performance was excellent. Alison is absolutely the best. And if you didn't know, she's won more Grammys than any other female singer - an ANY category. That speaks for itself. She has the voice of an angel, and is always spot-on when it comes to musicianship.

Alison Krauss and Union Station were terrific -- each one an accomplished musician in their own right...but, together -- even greater. Alison has the voice of an angel...and, for her, it is an instrument that she has tuned to perfection! Combined with a very fine (...and fiesty) opening set by Kasey Musgraves...and perfect weather...the evening was outstanding!

This was our first Alison Krauss & Union Station concert....hopefully there will be many more in the future. I wish it had been longer, but every song was great. Worth every dime! Jerry Douglas was really good - awesome with the band. His solo performance was nice. What a talent! The venue was nice (also our first time) TWC Uptown Amphitheatre. The staff was very friendly...everyone of them. The bottled water was too expensive though - $4!

The purest voice ever with the finest group of musicians possible. Incredible evening that could have lasted for several more hours and no one would have left. Alison Krauss has an effortless voice that is as perfect as a voice can be, and she shares the stage with each member of Union Station, each of whom is terriffic on his own. It was heaven in that Allison Krauss has an angelic voice, an easy-going and easy to listen style and manner; it was heaven in that Jerry Douglas is the best dobro player of all time; it was heaven in that the group plays and harmonizes together as well as anyone ... it was hell in that it was hot. It was like sitting in hell and listening to an angel.

Unlike many performers, her voice sounds just as good (or even better) live as on record. And she has one of the best bands of any genre behind her. Meyerhoff was a great venue to see them -- large enough for the interested but not so big as to lose the intimate feel associated with the music. A great, great show

Alison Krauss is one of the great velvet voiced singers of all time. The musical talent of the group, Union Station, and their "guest" Jerry Douglas is unsurpassed. If you haven't been to a live concert, you are missing something special. The venue for this concert was great, very small, no bad seats, and acoustically perfect. Alison Krauss and the boys did a great mix of new and old tunes, thankfully limiting the dirges of dire straits to just a few. Alison played the fiddle more than I remember in past concerts and it was nice to see her instrumental talent at the forefront. A highlight of the evening was the encore suite, where a variety of acapella numbers let the audience float on the sweet blend of their voices. Thanks for a great night of music!

We enjoyed the concert.....however it was difficult to hear Alison sing at times. Her voice was so soft and angelic that the mic needed to be hotter to pick up those delicate moments. The songs they sang are beautiful but depressing!! We left feeling down instead of exhillirated. I could listen to her voice all day long, but would love to hear more peppy and uplifting songs. Bluegrass music doesn't have to leave you in a depressed state!

Saw Allison and Union at the Inn of the Mtn. Gods (New Mexico) on July 19th, 2012. Although her pitch was nearly perfect she seem a little tired (i.e., a little "flat" as far as energy goes). The set was primarily older "traditional" tunes. There were a few of her hits played; I would have liked to have heard a few more, but c'est la vie, its her call after all. All of the playing was great (guitar, Dobro, banjo, the single mandolin tune). Alison primarily played fills and and swells, never really "sawing it in half as she;s capable of doing." All in all, a very pleasurable concert, just not a "Barn Burner." Would definitely go again. But, a few more "hits" (e.g., Gravity [to hold me down], or whatever its called), would improve on what was already a great performance. Thanks Alison; thanks guys, Greycody June 2012

I have listened to Karuss for many years. Seeing her live humanized her in a way that I was not prepared to know about myself. First, her voice on recordings somewhat feels 'polished' but it was different enough live to bring home how incredible she really sounds. I was reminded again just how much and why I love live music. Second, the interaction between all the members of the band made the experience of listening not just "oh, I like the music" but ~ interactive. That band enjoys the music and they enjoy each other. It was nice to see that and it is an experience that will now stay with me in the future whenever I listen to her and the band. Definitely worth the time to see them.

The venue was at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Not so good. It's really not well suited for a concert like this. It's more of a conference center than a theater, I think I would have enjoyed the excellent performances much more if the acoustics and seating were more suited to a concert. The performances were wonderful. While I always swoon at Alison Krauss' vocal talents, I sorely underestimated Union Station's contribution to their albums and to this concert. They are a very talented ensemble and clearly enjoy performing together. They all had good chemistry with each other and Alison has a great sense of humor.

Alison's voice was no less than angelic, and a beautiful woman to boot, that is overshadowed only by her musical skills. What a phenomenal fiddle player and voice. As a fellow musician, I can say that the technical skills of Union Station were very impressive. I particularly liked Jerry Douglas on the Resonator, so much that I purchased a dobro to add this excellent instrument to my other played instruments. Ron Block was amazing on the banjo, and an excellent bluegrass artist. Loved his fluid leads. Dan Tyminski was awesome with his vocals and mandolin. Truly a star. And of course, the talented Barry Bales, quiet and carrying the group along with his tasteful bass runs. He is awesome and his stories are entertaining. The venue at the Beacon is wonderful. It is such a beautiful theatre, and had all the amenities. Good acoustics, plenty to drink (although way overpriced) and an assortment of T-shirts and CDs, that even I got sucked into buying. I love the band, so it was well worth it. I truly enjoyed the show. A great experience, and the dinner at Josie's was great too, An enjoyable night for this fellow musician and his wife.

I myself had only a passing knowledge of Alison Krauss/Union Station's music. Fortunately someone who knew their music accompanied me. We had the most enjoyable evening together. The harmonies of these musicians is unsurpassed. And the musical talent each displayed on every instrument they handled was incredible. Their encore was captivating. Three of them (or was it four?) standing around one microphone and singing a few final songs as if we were sitting in a coffee shop having a jam session - very intimate. Simply a musically magical evening.

It was like a dream come true. The entire concert had been everything I've been dreaming and hoping it to be. It was definitely THE BEST live performance I've seen. The ticket was worth every penny.

The Santa Barbara Bowl first is comfortable and cozy for a concert, and I doubt there is a bad seat in the house, though ours were wonderful. Center - near the control panel booth. Allison has the voice of an angel, and there are also none better musically or vocally than Union Station. They can all play in my backyard or barn anytime the choose. The combination of Bluegrass, Folk, "Hillbilly", and even one "Jazz" piece. was more than enough to keep everyone glued to the music all night. Early on there was a pure downhome kickin, stompin and dancin musical piece which set the stage for what was to come. I have to say, no one was disappointed. Lastly, unlike many concerts which seem to start late or end early, this one started early 7:40 instead or 8:00 and ended at 9:50 or later, when it was supposed to end.

We felt like we were in a Religious Revival Boot Camp. This is not what I was expecting. My first clue should have been when she and Ms. Cox came out dressed in Polygamy-type dresses: All skin covered except for face and hands. Only recognized 2 songs: 'You're the Lucky One' and "You Say It Best When You Say Nothing At All' -- the rest I had no clue. I would not be going back to see her again. I will save my $97.61 per ticket ($79.50 for ticket plus processing fee charged by Ticketmaster) times three. What a true disappointment. However, The piano player was bad ass !!

I LOVE Alison Krauss and US but her voice is most definitely still affected from surgically repaired vocal chords. Usually every note she sings gives me chills. I felt nothing during the whole akus part and they purposefully did more instrumentals and had her singing harmonies. I hope she gets better !!! Willie was fun to see but he was bad most of the night, out of sync with band, talking not singing. Then again he's 81. I'm still glad i saw him at radio city.

Alison sings like an angel and is so much fun on stage also. The rest of the boys do a great job too. Wonderful evening of music and fun. Please come back to Cincinnati soon and if you get a chance to catch them in concert in your town do so. Worth every penny.

Having seen AKUS before, I expected greatness. They WERE great on this night, but I give this one 4 stars instead of 5 because something was missing. Alison seemed a little tired, and although she always leaves room in the show for Dan Tyminski and Jerry Douglas to sing or do other solo work, I think she relied on them more than usual and didn't sing as much as I expected. The show was a bit under 2 hours, and I came away feeling like she left a lot of good material out. She did a good number of songs from Paper Airplane, which of course make sense since she is touring for that album. But there was nil from "Forget About It" or "New Favorite" (although Tyminski's "Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn" was MAGNIFICENT). She sang and played great, and they did a fair number of bluegrass jams. That's nice to see! As always, the band plays beautiful, the sound was excellent - not too soft or loud, and beautifully mixed. That sparkling crystal-like sound in her voice came through wonderfully even during quiet passages. Maryhill Winery is a great place to see a show. It's a nice, small outdoor amphitheater, and the wine and food are good, although pricey. Expect to spend $50/couple if you really want to eat and have some wine. The lawn setting is terrific. They have the lawn terraced into comfortable flat areas, and they are good about keeping people from setting up tall chairs or obnoxious tents that might block your view. Kacey Musgraves was the warm-up act. I think she did a credible job. Being a warm-up is always tough, but the crowd welcomed her and gave her a chance. At first, she tried too hard to be "cool", and her audience banter carried a little too much lazy-cool-how-ya-all-doin'-tonight stuff. I worried a bit about this, because one of the great things about AKUS is that they come on stage and they are always just themselves. You feel like they could be family or neighbors playing for you in your living room. So that whole shtick from Musgraves didn't fit in. But to my surprise, after a few songs, she seemed to calm down, relax, and start being herself more. I can't remember any of the songs, but I do remember that around song 3 or 4, she hit her stride and got my attention; I thought to myself, "Aha. She does have something. Now I see why AKUS invited her to be on this tour." So overall, a very very good show, and I'd highly recommend seeing AKUS if you ever get the chance. Her band is still the best-playing and best performing band I have ever seen. I like a lot of kinds of music, so I've been to quite a few rock, metal, county, bluegrass, or classical shows, and AKUS beats them all for the sheer quality of musicianship, and how well they play together and connect with the audience.

Although I've always thought Allison Krause and Union Station are incredible, the show at Chateau Ste Michelle was nothing but boring. Boring band and really boring crowd. They played a lot of their hits but didn't bring any energy to them and the sound system was quiet. Also, even though its a winery, they should at least serve a few craft beers.

This was the sixth time we have seen Alison and she was incredible as always. However, the music we have seen before, some songs were five years old! Very unfortunate because we absolutely enjoy her music. Beyond Alison's control was the setting at Ste. Michelle. A fairly good venue but not as good as Marymoor Park. Way too many security and people for the size of the grounds. We were held back in line while hundreds of people went before us and were accused of cutting in line even though we would never do that. We stood in the hot sun for 30 minutes while people in another line moved ahead of us, some people even went to the other line to get in quicker. Don't let all this deter you from seeing the best vocalist of bluegrass. We had a good time and the wine helped ease the pain of stupid security guards.

Alison Krauss and Union Station were fantastic, as was the unexpected quality opening act by Kacey Musgraves. The weather couldn't have been better, which made the venue incredible, for those with a good view of the stage. Some grass-dwellers having arrived later may not been blessed with a clean view as the ground is not well graded for optimal viewing on the right side of stage. I was left feeling like I hadn't heard all the songs I wish they played, but I could have stayed all night listening to the A+ quality band.

Alison Krauss & Union Station comprises the finest group of individual musicians playing collectively since I saw the original "Return to Forever." Every turn at a featured solo called for a standing ovation, but the desire to hear what followed was stronger. Their vocal harmonies were so tight, and the audio mix was incredible for a glorified banquet hall. The upright bass was unusually clear and distinct. Jerry Douglas performed a dobro solo of Paul Simon's "American Tune" and an un-named Chick Corea song ("Return to Forever" irony?) that he was "practicing" for an Idaho fiddlers competition (he's hoping the Idaho folks don't notice he's not playing a fiddle). It was outstanding, and I swear there were three instruments playing. The venue on the other hand left much to be desired. The Inn of the Mountain Gods is a really nice resort, set on the shore of Mescalero Lake. I wish they had designed an auditorium specifically for stage performances. We were all at the same level which made it very hard to see the stage.

This was our first time to this particular venue. The room was huge but the stage was hard to see because the seating was all flat. The guy in front of me had a big head so I was always bending left or right to be able to see. If the seating is going to be set up like that the stage should be higher. Possibly the seats could be staggered. There were two monitors but the videographer was not very talented in getting a lot of good shots of who was singing when they were actually singing and they took way too many full stage shots and not enough singer shots. We paid a lot of money to not see very well. The sound was mediocre, and it didn't help that Allison Krauss is very soft spoken. A lot of what the band members were saying to each other was not picked up. This should have been accounted for during sound rehearsal. I would say that you have a nice venue but it is not set up for a high priced concert and I am not sure I will return if that's how all the concerts are set up.

My husband and I left 45 minutes into the show. We were seated on the very last row and I was directly behind a gentlemen wearing a cowboy hat (we ended up standing behind our seats.....next to a woman who stood behind hers as well). Not being able to see was bad enough and even more so because the big screens were blurry and the cameras never once zoomed in on Allison 's face! When she did interact with the audience, we couldn't hear her! What a waste of $130.00! First and most likely last time to attend a concert at the Inn.

Alison Krauss has the purest voice i have ever heard. it was such a delight to hear a voice that melded with her bands voices so well. Great to know that not every performer these days needs to lip sync or be modified. This has to be on my list of best concerts of my lifetime. Very laid back performance. I very much enjoyed listening to "In Constant Sorrow", I closed my eyes and pretended it was George Clooney!!

My husband wanted to see this concert and I agreed to go with him. Boy! was I ever glad I did. Krauss was brilliant... what a pure sweet voice. Her bantering with other band members was comical and showed a genuine close relationship with the group. Union Station is made up of multi-talented musicians. The vocals and harmony were spot on and the instruments were played with extraordinary precision. I do believe that Jerry Douglas is the best Dobro players in the world. His playing, along with Dan Tyminski's vocals are truly the trademark sound of Union Station. Alison playing with this band is an unbeatable combination.

Alison Krauss has the most amazing, beautiful voice and I LOVE her music, but this conert was very disappointing. It looked like she rolled out of a tent, threw on a sweatshirt and came out and played. The songs she sang were a bit sleepy, and two in a row were sleepers. I saw her at Sports Arena 6 years ago and it was AWESOME!! I knew way less of her songs back then too. Now I know way more and she hardly sang any of the good songs. I wish they wouldn't have Jerry Douglas play for so long every time. He's awesome, but I come to see her primarily. I would probably see her again in concert, hoping that this was just a fluke, but if it was like this concert I probably wouldn't go again. :( She's still one of my favorite singers.

What a beautiful voice Alison Krauss has! What a great band! At Humphreys, Alison Krauss seemed tired for this concert. She seemed to have much more energy at the Santa Barbara County Bowl last year. Perhaps she wasn't as into it because this time she just came in after a gig in Yosemite and didn't have time to recover? Perhaps because this concert was only one of many to come - and she was conserving energy? She didn't seem to play for the love of music. Many fans were disappointed because the band could have played longer, but didn't. Beautiful music, beautiful voice, but less than stellar performance that night.

She walked out in a bulky jacket wearing baggy pants... We thought it was a warm up band. There was no intro, they just started playing. About 30 minutes into the show, Alison decided to finally say a word or two to the audience. That was it... A word or two. The conversation on/from the stage was more like a little conversation that was just between the performers. After getting over the shock of the audience not being engaged much at all...we enjoyed the wonderful music. Great music, but not so much stage presence. I had never seen Alison Krause perform live before, and I suppose that's just how she does it.
