Wow...growing up in the Metropolitan NYC area, I rarely had the opportunity to see the west coast-based Murder City Devils perform live. In fact, the first time I saw them was in Coachella 2009. Compared to last year's performance tonight was positively different. What a great theater, the NOKIA, to have the chance to see them fully-pumped. They seemed too restrained and mechanical at Coachella. Tonight, they were sporadic, not synchronized, and spontaneous. Completely what I wanted to see in this quintessential garage punk band. Leslie seemed quite ready to finish her part and head off to other more important activities. This seemed to bother Spencer judging by his cynical comments. I loved the drama. It was a real "blue-collar" band just trying to perform with the only tools they had in their arsenal. Spenser's forays into the crowd was the catalyst to get the crowd completely wound-up. For whatever reason their set seemed really short and I found myself asking the question, " Where did the night go?" (at 12:00am). Feral Children did a great job and could definitely use an accomplished producer but they will definitely be a force in the future. Oh...really bad merchandising. No posters, no tour date shirts, oh well...this adds to their "buck-the-system" charm.

First I d like to say how impressed I was with Big Business. Great show. Now on to MCD. Once again a stellar performance. They played songs from all over there catalog. As always o just wanted them to play a little longer. Best band you never heard of!

I thought the set was weak. They seemed like they were not really into the performance. They did not play an encore which was disappointing, especially after the effort people made to get there in the snow storm. Should have gone to see Queensryche at the Palladium.

We traveled in the middle of a snowstorm because we couldn't miss the event. Murder City Devils puts on an awesome show. The opening band, Zip-Tie Handcuffs, might be the best band I have ever seen live. I will definitely be going to more of their local shows in the future!! The show was absolutely worth risking my life to see!

With their new (?) drummer, the MCD were at peak form, and ready to go at at, song after song. Their keyboardist looked especially chic as she stepped off to the side to have a smoke or two during numbers she wasn't playing (lucky girl!). Wish they're played "Boom Swagger Boom", but alas, 'tis was not too be. But they rocked our faces off anyways. Wish the lead singer had stayed a bit more sober (if that's what it was - it could just have been getting into character) throughout the set. But it was a rockin' good time and I'd go again in a heartbeat. Just stop announcing "It's our last show, man" please, and get out there and rock instead!

This band almost never comes to the east coast, if you have the chance to see them do not let it pass up. Thier music and the energy at the show was great. I would go see this band again without any hesitation. The venue was very nice and convenient to get to by the T, and they let you go out side and come back in to smoke without a hassle.

Let me say I love this band, I do. Seeing them now made me understand just how great they were when I first started going to see them in like 98 or something. He was always drunk but could pull it off and sound good. Now , ughh at least they have some money I guess from those ticket sales becuase they sounded messy and all he did was sream the lyrics. People who didn't know any better were having a great time it seemed.

Very good. good acoustics...crowd was good...beer was predictably overpriced...Great opening act, feral children, and the main act performed very well. Good Event organization though a sign for the bathroom (or one I wouldn't have missed) wouldve been helpful.

Feral Children were interesting and different. Very Enjoyable. Murder City brought it from the second they came out onto the stage. They opened with Press Gang and the crowd didn't stop surging back and forth until the 75 minute set was over with. This band still tears apart their material live. I love their albums, but live is the way to hear them. ANY CHANCE to see them should be taken.

The Devils are always awesome live, but I greatly prefer 21+ shows to all ages ones such as this one - too many idiots moshing and crowd surfing.

I was a little worried because I heard these guys were ferocious drunks. They were actually really tight and played a long and exciting set. But the sound at Nokia Theatre is EXTREMELY muddy. The club itself is cool enough, but I think they should spend some time making the place sound a little better for music other than hip hop.

The Nokia Theatre itself is a surprisingly nice venue. Large, clean, nice bathrooms, two tiers for standing and one with seats in the back. That being said, the wait was a little ridiculous. Doors were at 8, the first band didn't go on until after 9. Then there was another hour + wait before the Murder City Devils. It's probably just so that people would kill time (and spend money) at the bars. Not cool for the rest of us. Especially because then the floor is filled with sloppy drunks who spill their drinks and smoke in the crowd. Ugh. Thankfully, the band was great and that's the whole reason I went. Everything else was just annoying.

i expected them to be drunk, loud and out of control, and they were. first time at nokia, and i was impressed with the set up. i wasn't, however, happy with the sound mix. terrible job by the sound team. they could have at least done a sound check, but mcd was too busy gettin plastered.

The Murder City Devils were not that great last night but I was more upset that the Nokia Theatre has one of the worse sound systems for an expensive club I've ever seen. Way too bass heavy and muddy. It was tough to get through despite my love for the MCD. Most people don't notice the awful sound because they get lost in the infatuation. The dude behind me was singing along to words Spencer never said. I had fun (hence the second star), but it seemed like the band was just going through the motions and trapped in a venue too large for their sound as well as stage presence. Really want to go see the House of Pain in March but after three consecutive terribly sounding shows I will probably pass...the price of these shows doesn't help.

I was very disappointing this time. Barley one hour show. Lots of old songs. The sound wasn't all that great. Vocal could 't be heard from up front. NO ENCORE, come on you guys.
