The show as a whole was amazing. The performers were all excellent. The music was uplifting & had my entire family moving & grooving But Richie Valens stole the show with his La Bamba performance. The actor also played a few other parts & he did not disappoint.

Buddy Holly was upbeat and energetic. It was amazing to see how many of the performers were multi-talented and gifted with the musical arts. It was funny, inspiring, and factual. Todd Meredith did an outstanding job as the charismatic and tenacious Buddy Holly...leaving us all with the sad feeling of loss at a young person's enthusiasm for life cut way too short and leaving us still grateful for the musical tunes that are still known today due to this performer.

Low cost props. Weak dialogue. Repeat songs. It seems there was a neat story to be told that did not come through at all.

The first act was very slow in building the story and seemed to drag on. The show ended up being 2 1/2 hours long due to the slow paced first act. The second act was much better with the final scene being very well done with a lot of great songs that were performed very well. The acting and singing throughout the show was very good. The show would have been much better had the first act not been so slow in developing the story. The strength of the songs and the performance by the actors and singers saved what would have been a boring show.

My husband and I have seen this play in London's West End so my expectations for this performance weren't that great, but I was pretty impressed by the cast's musical talents. Also, all the cast members except for "Buddy" and "The Crickets" played more than one roll, which involved costume changes as well as vocal/accent changes at times. In addition to the multiple roles, some of these performers also were able to play more than one musical instrument! They all were fine singers and dancers, too. The only criticism I would have is that some of the costumes and wigs worn by the women looked cheap and didn't always fit well. Obviously this is a troupe on a budget. I am looking forward to seeing some of these young people again in other productions!

I just wish we hadn't seen it on the last day it was in Huntsville, I've told many a friend I would go see it again with them! If it's in your town, go see it, you won't be disappointed!

Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story essentially follows the same script as the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story for which actor Gary Busey received a Best Actor Oscar nomination in his role as Holly. The touring company cast featured young actor/musician Andy Christopher in the lead role and his portrayal of Holly s stage persona and performance of Holly s music was phenomenal! The entire ensemble cast was musically outstanding. This was a two and a half hour performance, with the final half hour being a musical encore that had our entire audience from kids who had likely never before heard this music to seniors like me who grew up with it on their feet throughout. When this show comes to your area, DO NOT miss it!

I was in the 9th grade when Buddy Holly and the Crickets came along, and remember their songs, mainly from the times I spent at the roller rink. I used most of my allowance to buy 45 rpm records, plus a lot of my lunch money, and had all of Buddy's. The singers and actors in this production were fantastic, putting their all into their performances, and Kurt Jenkins simply transformed himself into Buddy Holly. Overall this was a fantastic show, especially for those of us who came of age during the late 50s/early 60s. I have been playing all my Buddy Holly CDs everyday since going. His catalog of songs is amazing, considering he was with us for such a short time. Go see this show. It is the best one I've seen over the past few years.

This is the second time seeing Buddy, and I enjoyed it second time around as much as the first time. I really love his music (as with all other 50's music (and I'm an 80's child!)) I highly recommend this to all music lovers, not just Buddy lovers. The actors really get into the characters, you can forget yourself in the moment and nearly think you are actually watching him live!! And great crowd interaction as well....

The Toyota Center in Kennewick is simply not a good venue for traveling theater productions. That's not the fault of this show, it's the fault of the community for not building a proper performing arts center. Regarding the show, the music was first rate but the non-musical "dramatic" scenes of the show left a lot to be desired. All of the characters seemed to be played as caricatures and over the top. The scenes were just filler to get to the next song. The worst moment was the "Clear Lake" scene where a character who is the M.C. for that concert came out and did this interminably long interaction with the audience, far longer than it was necessary. It brought the show to a halt just as it was reaching the climax. Not the fault of the actors, it's the fault of the playwright who put that scene in to begin with.

Aside from the late start (curtain malfunction before show started) it was a great performance. I knew a lot of the songs because my mom used to play them when I was little. The performers were great. I never knew much about Buddy Holly except the plane crash so it was great to hear his story. The man who played Buddy was fabulous... great singer, musician and actor. I would recommend seeing it.

The cast was very talented and the portrayals were spot on. I was 12 years old on the day the music died. I must admit that I wept along with my older sister. Such talent gone in the blink of an eye. However, his music lives on and this performance brought me back to those days. I warned the people in front of me that I might break into song during the performance, but I managed to do it quietly. All in all it was a wonderful day and we really enjoyed the show.

The music was amazing. All of the music was live and played by the actors. Several actors played multiple instruments. The actor playing Buddy was AMAZING. All of the performers were incredibly talented. The show also had some comedy aspects to it as well. The bad: the story line was kind of meh. Not great. The show felt more like a concert than a musical. Bottomline: If you like music from this time period or seeing live music in general, you will love this show.

The music was good and the guy playing Buddy could play a good guitar and sound somewhat like Buddy. But when it came to the play part of the show, it was silly and immature. You could have left that part out. Also, our seats were in the nosebleed section, so far away from the stage that we could not see faces. We were in row NN and the rows in front of us were vacant all the way to the front row of the balcony. But when we ordered these tickets by computer, these rows in front of us weren't available to be purchased. Can someone explain this?

The main problem w/the touring version was that it was a condensed version and seemed very rushed, especially regarding the 2nd act. I had seen this play twice before so I was shocked when I saw things proceeding without an intermission and before I knew it they were up to the Winter Dance Party in 59. A lot of the spoken dialogue was cut which I can understand, but it shed light on how things began to wrong financially for Buddy which forced him into doing the Winter Tour where he later died. the actor/musician playing Buddy did a nice job regardless. I don't think he quite captured the essence of Buddy's personality but he was a great performer.

The show is poignant, the performances excellent, and lots of folks danced out at the end with smiles, humming the iconic music of Buddy Holly. Go see this show!!

Although my wife and I enjoyed the show I can't say the same for the rest of the audience. The venue probably sold about 25% of the seats and the ushers were moving people up towards the front to fill in all the empty seats. Been though buddy holly passed away before my wife and I were born we still enjoyed the music. What's amazing is how popular he was and in only 18 short months without the benefit of today's internet. Long live rock n roll!

The talent of the cast was incredible. The lead actor was like a reincarnation of Buddy Holly. Stage production was unique and creative. The tragic story was told accurately without dwelling on the sad end. This whole experience was a bargain for the value of entertainment. I was disappointed in the audience size. Jersey Boys is a hard act to follow, and I believe this production suffers in crowd appeal simply by not being the first of a genre.

The entire cast is extremely talented, not only as actors, but musically as well. Michael Perrie Jr. plays an excellent Buddy Holly, while the beats are steady from Noah Berry and fun bass player Jason Steffen. Hailey Aviva was a great Maria Elena Holly and she can rock you with her sax playing. Lori Lusted was a fun Vi Petty and plays piano very well. James Fairchild brought the Big Bopper back, and Miguel Brenes played an awesome Ritchie Valens. This show rocks and I would go to see it again!

This show was great. The music was upbeat. The show gives you an awesome understanding of rock history. The cast was fun and played their parts with compassion. The bass player really engaged the audience. Loved the female sax player. If you love rock then you have to see this performance!!!

Saw Buddy at the Shubert this weekend. Music was great. All the actors first-rate, but young Micheal Perrie Jr. was AWESOME. Great talent, very charismatic. Would see this again
