Great concert. First time seeing Shooter live and first time at venue. He didn't disappoint only wish it would have lasted longer.

Shooter Jennings did not disappoint. It was an incredible show heavy on the Heirophant with a handful of 357s tunes and a great cover of Waylon's "Rainy Day Woman" In addition, I was blown away by the opener- J Roddy Walston and the Business. They were phenomenal!! High, intense, rock n roll energy. I immediately snapped up the latest album and they played all but I think three songs. Would love to check them out again.

Third time to see these guys. They ALWAYS hang out after the show for pics and autos. Wild stage for a show and the sound was terrific.

Five of us went and we had a good time. At the end at the concert two of us went up by the stage and got to be right in front of Shooter Jennings. It was an awesome experience for us to see him up close. We had a very good time.

We (my husband, adult daughter and I) went to the concert it was very good. The one thing that I did notce was there were many elderly people leaving throughtout the concert. I believe that this is because many of them showed up expecting Shooter mostly just his fathers songs which wasn't the case at all, it was mostly his music whith just a couple of his dads songs.

great show- better then i expected- i am a die hard waylon fan- i enjoyed listening to his son recreate his legendary music- a tribute concert done by shooter to waylons music along with the steel guitar would be a blast

I was fascinated by the fact that that was Waylon's son! Waylon is in my top 3 people of all time. I saw him perform twice. Shooter has his own thing going on and it was great! The crowd loved it. There was country, country rock, heavy rock, a nice variety. Didn't know what was coming next. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars, is that I thought that more of Waylon Jennings hits would have been played. Overall it was well worth seeing Shooter and his band.

This concert event was supposed to be a tribute to the late Waylon Jennings by his son Shooter, hence the title "Waylon Forever". It was very disappointing! Shooter played about 4 songs by his father, of which maybe 2 were a fairly close repesentation, but with more of a heavy rock flavor...very loud! Shooter has a good band if you into heavy rock and "loud punk rock" music. The overall concert was about Shooter, not Waylon!! To say the least, I thought it was very misleading to the public in advertising a Waylon tribute show. I believe I share this opinion with many Waylon fans, as I watched people leave during the event, disappointed and not intending to come back. I am sure Shooter has a large fan base, but if you are expecting Waylons music, consider yourself warned! Waylon Forever? The term "Tribute" does not apply here at all! Very deceiving way to market a concert!

We saw Shooter Jennings at a local casino. He played less than an hour and we recognized a half of a dozen songs by Waylon. The rest? Who knows! This was a "Tribute to Waylon Jennings" concert. Then came back on stage for another 1/2 hour and pllayed his music which sounded much more pop-rock than country.

It wasn't what i thought it was going to be. i thought that it was a tribute to his father where he plays all his fathers songs. ex. mommas dont let your babys grow up to be cowboys, are you sure hank done it this way ect.

I have seen Shooter MANY times before and they always put on a great show! This show was different though - he started out playing his dad's music with his twist on it and then played some of his classics and music off his brand new album Black Ribbons which is different but amazing. Awesome show and really genuine guys!

I was impressed by Shooter's concert last night for several reasons. I went to see him sing the Waylon Forever music and it was everything I expected with him singing an array of his father's songs from "Belle of the Ball" and of course Waylon's signature song "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit"(done got out of hand)". He honored his Father with a great rendition of "Lonesome On'ry and Mean". After a very short break he and his band came back on stage to do a few numbers from his new cd "BLACK RIBBONS", which is a far departure from anything he's done in his recent past. He sang "Don't Feed the Animals" and "When the Light's Go Out", but I prefer the cd listened in it's entirety from start to finish. And he finished the show with his music from the last several years. He and his band did a rousing version of "Daddy's Farm" and "Busted in Baylor County". All in all the show was entertaining and fun.

Earl Greyhound took the stage first to start the night off. They were ok. JJ Grey & Mofro took the stage next and they killed it. I had never heard of them before that night and was so impressed I went out and bought all their albums. WOW. If you like cajun, blues, jazz, these guys are amazing. Shooter was good too but the sound was terrible. Couldn't hear the lyrics.

We were very pleased to get to see Shooter and his band, they are all excellent musicians. The music was tight, the vocals were spot-on, it was a great concert. We only had one complaint, there were multiple bands on 4 stages and the schedule showed that the headliner was to play after all the other bands were finished. Apparently one of the stages ran long and a not-very-good band played at the same time as the headliner. The stages were in opposite corners of the venue and they faced each other; it made it hard to hear the headliner a few times. And the other band was NOT music we would have wanted to hear.

The bands were great; if only one played at a time. They were so close together you heard them all playing at the same time! It was ridiculous ! More tents would have been nice or better yet later in the afternoon not starting at NOON when it's the heat of the day!

Waymore's Outlaws were amazing playing Waylon Sr. old songs, but when shooter came out, the energy was just not there. Shooter only played one of his hits and then crammed cover songs and new songs down our throats. Then he passed it off to his backup singer to play a song while his back was turned to the stage. He capped it all off with no encore. If he wants to get a better review from me, he needs to focus more on his hits and become more of a presence on stage.

I'd been looking forward to seeing Shooter literally for years. He played less than an hour and there was no encore. This will probably be my last casino concert. Although the tickets were reasonably priced,I feel like it was a waste of my money (I live an hour from the venue so I also spent money on a hotel room). I've heard he is good live so I'm super disappointed!! I would also like to add it was the lamest concert crowd I've ever seen. Very few people stood up- most sat there like wax statues. That may be why Shooter was less than enthusiastic.

Gave Shooter Jennings a try and the show was better than I expected! Glad I went! No pun intended, Shooter is a straight shooter. His set is focused on his music. Didn't talk a whole lot, no crazy antics, running around stage, (intentionally) looking hot for the crowd, etc. If you want to see a Shooter show come to hear his music.

Shooter added a few more theatrics than is expected at a country show, mixing genres at times and playing a wide variety from his catalogue. I heard all but one of my favorite songs, but you can't please everybody all the time. The first opening act was awful, and the second one was good. That first awful act is why I gave this show 4 stars.

We had a great time at the concert. Shooter and his crew/band are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. The show was great, the band had lots of energy and Shooter puts his heart and soul into his performance, you can tell that he means what he's singing! I really enjoyed the screening of "The Other Life" film before the show too. He likes to do whatever he can to give back to his fans and that's why I recommend checking him out if you haven't already! The VIP package available for the pre show is worth every penny!!

He sang his songs really well. We were hoping to hear him cover one song of Waylon, Hank, Johnny, or George. Didn't happen. We sat on the front row three tables over from center stage, he never walked one step over to our side of the stage. Good singer, not an entertainer for this show. Should take a lesson from the Bocephus shirt he was wearing!!!

Having followed Shooter's career since the first CD and getting to know the .357s/Heirophant personally, I was curious to see how things would be with the new band. Now, the El Rey is a beautiful venue with great sound. Having never seen a show there, I was amazed at what a great room it is. Unfortunately, it was a bit barren on this particular night. Not empty by any stretch of the imagination, but certainly not the crowd I was expecting. The crowd that WAS there, however, was certainly into it. Drea was there with Alabama and a large group from the show "Sons of Anarchy" (Ron Perlman was not there, unfortunately). Shooter and the band roamed the room when they weren't onstage, taking pictures and talking to anyone who wanted to say hi. Johnny Corndawg took the stage and surprised us with his act. We had looked him up on YouTube and only had a mild interest in watching him, but he proved to be an excellent performer and a very nice guy. Shooter took the stage and the first thing I noticed was how blah the new band was. They were definitely prolific musicians, they just didn't rock and regardless of whether you like his country material or "Black Ribbons," Shooter has always put on a rocking show. He played most of the new CD, "Family Man," and a few from his older CDs, including an acoustic sing-along of "4th of July," but nothing from "Black Ribbons" and nothing from the other CDs that rocked to any extent. This was definitely a tamed Shooter. We still love him and his music and will go see him when he's in town, but I sure would like to see him with a more energetic band again. It's one thing to bring in new musicians; it's another to replace everyone you've worked with for years with a bunch of guys who look like they'd rather be home than onstage putting on a show.

Last time I saw Shooter and the band was their last concert of the Fall 2010 Season. AS always they never fail to amaze me. And I'm hard to please, so my mom says. They had 2 warm-up groups with them that I hadn't heard: J Roddy something and the Business, and something Salvage both over the top excellent. I told J Roddy afterwards he was even better than Jerry Lee. , I appologize for not remembering your names, but if I get a chance to see you in concert again, I will certainly follow up. SHOOTER is more than just a singer with famous parents. He's a force of nature in his own right. IF YOU EVER GET THE CHANCE TO SEE HIM IN CONCERT: beg borrow or steal a ride to get there you will not be disappointed. He is always evolving, never stagnant like some artists who get pigeon-holed or stuck in a creative rut. CHECK HIM OUT.

Shooter and his band were outstanding! In my opinion though Mom, Jessi Colter stole the show with her opening performance. Jessi's voice was crystal clear. She was energentic in her delivery of the songs she sang. Her song choices were right on the mark for the venue. Jessi looked wonderful. It was a real treat to see her back on stage and performing again. Welcome back Jessi! We missed you. All in all a real fun evening at the Rhythm Room. Thanks Jessi and Shooter.

I had never been to the Rhythm Room before so i didn't know what to expect. It was smaller than i thought but a great place. Jesse Colter came out and opened for her son. She was great as she was when i saw her with David Allen Coe in Cave Creek AZ. Then Shooter came out and sang with her. he has an amazing voice and is great looking. When is band came out and joined him, THEY ROCKED. i would love to see him again but im so glad he doesnt tour big venues. the small ones are so much better. I really miss his dad Waylon. Great Concert. Opening acts were very good and got the crowd going. In fact I think most of the crowd was there for the opening acts. I was pretty familiar with Shooter's early material and enjoyed it like I did old country back in the 70's and 80's. Shooter's new album is genius and groundbreaking and not country in the least. He played chunks of the new album broken up with chunks of the older stuff. If more people knew about the new album "Black Ribbons" this place would have been packed. New York is hardly the place for a guy doing old fashioned country like his Dad but this part of the country would eat up the new album if they heard it. It was a surreal experience.I was standing about 8 feet away from his keyboards and aided by a good buzz he brought the album to life. If you like the new album - Do Not miss this show

Nothing but black ribbons. He played the first 5-6 songs in order most people in the crowed were talking and not really getting the new material. He then played a song off his second album and the bar lines filled up and people started singing along and having a good time. After that it was right back into his electronic rock with sound effects and space sounds. He kept saying thanks you guys are great between songs and I have no idea how he could say that because no one seemed to be enjoying the show. Most people were leaving mid way.

Unless you love the new album, Black Ribbons, you will be wildly dissappointed. Shooter force fed the new stuff only sprinkling his hits. The new guitarist should be in a speed metal band. Just awful. Based on turn out (less than 150) most people don't like the new stuff. Even successful bands know you can't kill people with just new music. If you keep playing your new album, plan on booking living rooms for the remainder of your career. The opening act, Bobby Lee Rodgers, was awesome

I was a big fan right up until Friday, April 30th. Went to the show at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with high hopes for a great show. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. Instead we got some obnoxious techno acid trip music, with a bunch of mindless political banter in between songs. It was completely unlistenable. We held out for as long as we could, hoping maybe this was all a joke, and they were eventually going to break into some of the stuff that made us like Shooter in the first place. However, that never happened, and we left early. It was sad. We were really looking forward to this show. Future dates on the tour should come with a proper warning. THIS IS NOT THE SHOOTER JENNINGS YOU ARE EXPECTING.

I found his title of his tour misleading, although he played songs that he and his papa wrote somewhat together, I and amongst other people in the audience were hoping for more oldies and goodies. Shooter was definitely Shooter, playing to a crowd of more middleaged folks who were wanting to hear Shooter pay tribute to his dad. I guess he did in his own way. Although I was disappointed with the concert, I was glad I didn't lose out on a lot of money and my seats were great. First time at the venue, I really enjoyed it.

I am so glad I was able to make it to the Waylon Forever concert put on by Shooter. I especially loved the fact that he finished out the night with his own music. It was an unforgettable evening and I can't wait to see him again!

I went and saw shooter at the Mille Lacs Grand Casino on Saturday. I saw this concert was titled "Waylon Forever" and shooter only sang 3 of Waylon's songs!!!! I think Shooter is using his daddy's name to get people to actually attend his show!! People were walking out of the concert half way through his crappy performance. He didnt even sing Good Ol Boys!!! Thanks alot shooter!!! After the show shooters band came out and talked to the fans and signed some autographs which was very nice of them. The band said shooter was going to come out BUT SHOOTER NEVER DID!!!! Shooter let his fans stand outside for over an hour and a half and NEVER EVEN CAME OUT TO SAY THANKS FOR COMING!!!!! i would have rather sat at home and watched paint dry rather than go to another one of SHooters concerts!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

I thought Shooter was great. His band was very tight, and his guitarist in particularly was a great live performer. The whole show was great, including his interpretations of Waylon's material, as well as the 3 or 4 songs he played from Black Ribbons, his new album. Personally, I liked the last 4 or 5 songs the best, because they were from his earlier solo material. Definitely worth seeing.

Shooter gave a great preformance at the Grand Casino Mille Lac, conference and event center. He and the band Hierophant took the stage at eight and played great music. Yes the concert was called Shooter presents Waylon Forever Live and he did play his daddy's music, but he did it his way. If you go expecting the songs to be done like waylon this is not what you will hear. Shooter takes those songs and does them his way. A little bit harder, true to the outlaw style. Waylon was all about the artist having control of how the songs should be done and not how a record producer or radio people expected the songs to be. I loved the way that he has done these songs. Shooter played for an hour and forty five minutes with the first hour as the Waylon hour. Shooter wouild play about 3 waylon songs and then one of his own, a great mix. He took a short break and then came back and played his songs for the next forty five minutes. I was fortunate to have seen Waylon play a few concerts and Shooter is a great preformer and showman in his own right.

We went to the show expecting to hear Shooter play his dad's songs since the show was titled Waylon Forever. Regardless, we did enjoy the show until everyone was allowed to leave their seats and stand up in front of the stage. I didn't pay to watch other people's backends for half the show!!

Thought it was a great show. I think those that "got it" really enjoyed the show. Given the billing as "Waylon Forever: Live" I think a lot of people bought tickets expecting to see Shooter doing note for note covers of his dad's material. This led to to a fair number of 50+ yr old attendees to walk out 30 minutes into the show. He did do quite a few of Waylon's tunes--Freedom to Stay and Rainy Day Woman were pretty close to Waylon's version and others such as Outlaw Bit were much different arrangements. I personally like Shooter's take on the tunes, which tend to be infused with a heavy dose of rock, but very much steeped in the outlaw heritage. The band came out to do an encore, which consisted of Shooter's material, and it was full on rock show. On a side note, Shooter was very personable and willing to take the time to sign autographs when we found him in the video arcade of the casino before the show. After the show the whole band hung out and took a great deal of time to do photos with fans, which I always appreciate. Looking forward to seeing Shooter again when he comes to town.

When seeing that Shooter Jennings was doing a Waylon Live tribute I thought that would be a fun show to take in. It was amazing...he came out and did some old Waylon favorites....then came out and did the Shooter show and it was so much fun!! he had people scrambling over their chairs to get to the front and rock out with Shooter and the band. I was impressed with the instrumentals and the vocals. I think I am a Shooter fan now!! and would definetly go again :)
