Save Ferris

SAVE FERRIS IN CONCERT:Ska punk octet Save Ferris took over airwaves in 1997 with a rowdy cover of '80s hit "Come on Eileen," and they've kept fans skanking over the years with their upbeat recordings and adrenaline-filled performances. The band brings a total party to the stage at their live shows, where fans cut a rug to the brassy horns, crunchy guitar riffs, and uptempo rhythms of favorites like "Goodbye" and "The World Is New." Frontwoman Monique Powell is the epicenter of the jubilation, dancing along to the beat and delivering her sultry vocals with a smile while fans sing along. Save Ferris continues to perform their infectious favorites with all the lively energy that earned them a diehard following in the first place, and ticket buyers can't get enough of the non-stop fun.

Brought back my needed 90s fix. Monique sounded and looked great. The band after the show signed autographs and were the nicest bunch of people.

Save Ferris was amazing. Will not do House of Blues General Admission again. Standing for hours and crowded in too tight to move. Don't like the format. And then $75 per person to go sit on the balcony? Ridiculous. SAVE FERRIS is in House of BLues Anaheim is OUT!

So much energy and Monique sounded amazing! The band played their hearts out and the crowd was eating it up. Danced and sang along to every song the entire set! Also enjoyed their opening act, Vista Kicks.

In between song was the only time you could hear the singer. She kept the microphone as far away from her mouth as possible when the sound booth tried to turn up the volume it was just filled with feedback.

I enjoyed this show but clearly there were some issues. Monique came out and immediately it was hard to hear her and I was standing right in front of the speakers not far off the stage. After the first song she made as passing comment about her voice being raspy from a decade of cigars and coke. I think this was a failed attempt at dismissing a voice problem. I think the issue of not hearing her was an attempt to mask the issue with her relying on backup singers and the crowd to carry her. Even after numerous comments by the crowd there was no improvement. It was unfortunate as the band sounded great and Monique herself had plenty of energy on the stage but you just couldn't hear her distinct voice. I hope she gets better!

The energy was high and the band sounded great. It was hard to hear the vocals at times but Monique sang her heart out! The set list was incredible, only wish they played longer.

Such a spectacular show! I was a bit skeptical, seeing how it's a new band, but wow, Mo and company were amazing. Even the new songs were great. EVEN THE NEW SONGS WERE GREAT!! (don't worry, they played their hits)

Ugh. Where to begin... I admit it. I was fooled into going to this show by Monique's posts on facebook. I was so stoked having Save Ferris back and I immediately bought tickets to the show. I ignored a lot (A LOT) of people's advice, but I should have listened. This wasn't the Save Ferris I supported since I was a young girl. There was no T-Bone Willy and his crazy antics. There was no Brian Mashburn and his distinct vocals and red hair. There was no Eric Zamora and his awesome Sax playing. THERE WAS NO BILL AND HIS ADORABLE BEAR HAT. I mean, WHAT THE HELL. I was just so pissed through out the whole thing. This was Fake Ferris! And to top it off...THE SHOW WASNT EVEN THAT GOOD. Sure, the bassist did a trick. Whoopiefreakindoo. But I'm not here to see a trick that a crap load of bassists can do, I was here to see Save Ferris and this wasn't it! She even THREW HAVE-BITTEN CORN DOGS IN THE CROWD. Ewwww gross. What class. It wasn't until after I learned that Monique have been lying. Forget that. If I want to see a legit SF performance, I'll go see Starpool.

I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about...This had to be the best Save Ferris show ever! Monique sounded better than ever, the new band was fresh and talented! The crowd was on their feet the whole set!!! Save Ferris beach balls flew into the crowd making extra special and fun! Monique talked to the crowd told jokes, and had fun with the fair food. The bass player (Gordon) got onto his stand up bass and jumped off it during Goodbye!! Pure entertainment! I read other reviews on OC Weekly and the Register, and they were good as well! Bravo SF!!!!!

Went to this show with an open mind considering this wasn't the actual Save Ferris, JUST Monique with a new random backing band. My friend bought ticket and we went with a few people. I had my doubts but since the English Beat was playing the show and we could go check out the fair, I decided to give it a chance. Boy, do I regret it. Monique has definitely lost it. The band lacked the chemistry and the energy the former members had (having been to a few real Save Ferris shows in my day.) I was getting a little bored, actually. I couldn't help but sit there and be in awe of how this is being passed as Save Ferris nowadays. Not to mention, her dress malfunctions shows she's not in the best shape either, yet she still dresses like she is still in her 20s. Her wig was also super distracting, Even people around us seem to be really bored . =/ At least The English Beat were great, then again they are legends. A lot of people around us left after they were done.
