Veruca Salt

VERUCA SALT IN CONCERT:'90s alternative sweethearts Veruca Salt remain a fresh force in post-grunge music, reuniting in 2013 and dropping an impressive 10-inch in early 2014. Singers Nina Gordon and Lousie Post sound as cool as ever, and their signature deadpan wit is fully intact on wry tracks like "The Museum of Broken Relationships". The band continues to be a stellar live act, performing fuzzed-out classics like "Seether" and "Victrola" with the perfect blend of sweetness and attitude on their unforgettable tours. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Veruca Salt formed in Chicago in 1993, taking their name from the spoiled rich girl character from Roald Dahl's classic children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

It was awesome!!! Great sound and great to hear and see the original line-up playing together since their departure in 1998! Played from 9:15 to 11pm and performed a great set of all the classics plus some new and never before material as well like "Aurora" which was their 2nd time playing it live ever! Only downfall was we waited outside to meet them for over an hour to get pics with them and they were not allowing any :( But I guess that happens sometimes.

this was my first VS show live! I was excited to come to this event and see the original reunited band lineup of Nina, Louise, Jim, and Steve. plus to hear songs off the brand new album called Ghost Notes. the opening act, Charley Bliss ,was such a fun and high energy band. this was also my first time visiting the Paradise Rock Club. all I can say is Wow! this show really rocked! playing a mix of old favorite songs with the new I was blown away by the vocal harmonies of Nina and Louise! I this is my first time writing a review like this and I can only say I wish I could see these guys all the time maybe performing longer sets with more of the songs we all know and love. Ghost notes is a great and awesome album that one can listen to over and over. I really love this band and am still on a high several days later after going to this event! Thank you VS! it was a great experience for me!

The original line-up of Veruca Salt killed it at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA. Louise Post, Nina Gordon, and (just call it like it is) the two dudes in the band were on their game. The band sounded great, the girls looked great, and the crowd was definitely digging it. They played old stuff, the hits, tracks off their biggest albums, and a lot of new stuff from the Ghost Notes album. Not surprisingly, they didn t play anything off of the Resolver album which was Louise Post and a whole new lineup. It s a shame though, because Born Entertainer is a solid track from Louise. Had they played that, they could have balanced it out with Nina s solo hit Tonight and the Rest of My Life in my humble opinion. Anyway\u2026 Throughout the show, the girls bantered about their past, their break up, their reunion, the new album, and shopping in Boston. Nina apparently spent a lot of time shopping in Boston after the band broke up while Louise sat home watching All in the Family and Sanford and Son reruns. Both girls sounded amazing. Louise showed a bit more range by singing soft and sweet and also letting out some good ole rock n roll screams. Nina was more consistent on the sweet side. Thanks to some technical difficulties with the bass drum mic, we got to hear just how good Louise sounds when she broke in a solo vocal performance of One Last Time in order to fill the void. She did a beautiful job with it. I saw Veruca Salt in 1997 at their stop in Providence, RI and to this day it s one of my favorite shows. I remember them coming out and opening up with Straight, one of their heaviest tracks, and rocking Lupos Heartbreak Hotel. I arrived early to that show and waited in line so I could get right up front. It worked and I snagged a guitar pick directly from Louise s hand. 18 years and 5 days later, I wasn t disappointed. I had a great time in Boston, although no souvenirs this time. Thanks for the great night Nina and Louise! So what did they play? Here s my recollection. For those of you who just care about the hits, they played Volcano Girls somewhere in the first half of the show and then played Seether in the second half; easily their two biggest hits. Neither were the opener or closer for the show which surprised me, but it worked. For the most part, I do recall what they played just not the order. So instead I listed everything in order by album instead of the set list (which I didn t keep track of). If you were there and I missed something, let me know! Blow it Out Your Ass Shimmer Like a Girl I m Taking Europe with Me American Thighs All Hail Me Seether Spiderman Forsythia Eight Arms to Hold You Straight Volcano Girls Don t Make Me Prove It One Last Time Solo Vocal Rendition Earth Crosser last song main set Ghost Notes Black and Blonde Prince of Wales The Sound of Leaving Love You Less Laughing in the Sugar Bowl The Museum of Broken Relationships

Picking up where they left off almost 20 years ago, Veruca Salt put on a tight, fast, loud show that had the crowd cheering for their entire 90-minute set. Lots of the classics (though, with the shorter running time, not as many as you'd like) plus cuts from their new album. And this is one of those situations where the band arguably sounds even better live.

This show rocked. Those ladies in both bands really put on a show. If you can see Charly Bliss i would go and do it. Youtube them at the least. Eva (who i met and she is a dream girl) headbangs and pogos the whole show in between singing of course. I was smiling the whole time. Great music and performance.

Wow, the reunited Veruca Salt really brought the house down. First off, the show sold out. That was great since the last time I saw them (2006-2007ish) it was probably 15 of us seeing half the original band. It really seemed like they never missed a beat. It was the end of the tour so maybe they had ironed out any issues. It was a well put together show with good sound for the venue. The only complaint I have is that they didn't play a lot from Eight Arms to Hold You, but that's just being picky. If they come around again I will definitely go see them again.

First VS show I've been to since 2006 and that show didn't feature the original lineup. First of all - the band was outstanding! They sounded like the years away from the stage never happened. :-) Long set, b-sides, adorable banter, fantastic crowd response and then they all came outside to meet the patient fans afterwards and signed my record. Overall a top 10 show for me. I'll never forget it!

It's been a borderline bucket list dream of mine to see the original Veruca Salt live, and man, did they deliver. Electric crowd, electric night. Thanks VS! Never leave us again.

They are baaack!!!! They rock just as hard (and soft) as they did once upon a time. This warm up tour was just what the Dr ordered. I cannot wait to hear the new album and i am so glad Nina, Louise, Jim and Steve got over their stuff to reform and still sound as fresh as ever. This was a band i regretted never seeing the first time around. Thankfully i got my chance and i was not disappointed!! Amazing!

I saw them on their last tour in 1997. This time the girls blew me away. If you are a fan, you gotta catch a show. The original band was as tight as ever. Old songs suddenly had strong new meaning. They played a strong 2 hour set. The venue, Theatre of Living Arts in Philly was incredible. The staff and seevice were first class.

Veruca Salt played most of their first two albums plus their two new songs. I thought the band played fairly tightly and you could tell they were really enjoying themselves. There was a lot of banter between Louse, Nina and the crowd which made the show seem more intimate. Of course there was plenty of hair flipping and Louise really worked the stage. Sound quality was OK and the small venue made the show more enjoyable

i cannot explain the pure joy of seeing this show. if you were at all a fan and even if you weren't, the amount of energy and nostalgia and good people in the crowd was overwhelming. the band was incredible and visibly thrilled to be there.
