PRCA Rodeo

PRCA Rodeo

The PRCA Rodeo is all-American family fun. While it is believed that rodeo originated among ranchers in the 1800s, it has since grown to become an extremely popular sport with a national following. Top contenders come from all regions of the country to compete for impressive cash prizes in contests of riding, wrestling and roping.

Been to MANY rodeo in my day, not impressed one bit with stock contractor's stock.... entertainment clown was decent, Boom Boom Johnson so much better!!! Feoncie's first ever rodeo, would've introduced her to sport using better event..... But but it was exceptional and acceptable.

Rodney songs are great--they take me back to where I grew up and sometimes wish I was. His on-stage performance comes through sounding just like his albums. He doesn't let his volume drown out his singing or his performance distract from the music. The only thing I wish would have been different is a bit more even mix of the hits throughout the concert vice most being at the end. Super job Rodney--Thank You!

Rodney never refuses to deliver! He came out and owned the stage! His band mates played to perfection and the interaction with all of them played out like the songs they sang. Rodney played his hits and other songs that will be hits as well. The crowd was electric! This man and his yet unnamed band bring it everytime. The money paid is well worth the time spent.

Four of us went to the Buc Days Rodeo and it was a blast! Exciting to watch the cowboys pit their wits and strength against the bulls, bucking horses and calf roping. The mutton busting was hilarious. Loved the clowns - boy do they have a dangerous job, throwing themselves between a charging bull and a fallen cowboy. My family and I will definately go the next time the rodeo is back in town.

Took my children for the first time to the rodeo. If you subtract the time spent as "fillers" the rodeo probably only lasted 45minutes to an hour. There were not enough contestants and not enough rodeo in general. My girls favorite part was the dog that was used in the clown performance if that says anything.

The announcer spent a long time opening the rodeo by explaining how the Corpus Christi rodeo was every bit as good as San Antonio, Houston, etc. As the night progressed and there were two calf ropers, the announcer had to explain the entrants were low because a lot of calf ropers had entered a rodeo in California and could not transport their horses back to Corpus. It suddenly became obvious the Corpus rodeo was missing entrants, the announcer was stalling for time and events were stretched out to lengthen the rodeo, but not the number of contestants. I think the winner of the calf roping won the bull riding. An amazing feet and not to detract from the winner, but how many competitive rodeos does that happen? Bull riders and calf ropers are normally two different entry pools. Next year I am skipping the CC Rodeo and sticking to San Antonio. No need to tell me CC is just as good as San Antonio, because it is not.

Was my wife first time seeing a rodeo, I have seen quite a few. I was a little disappointed that there were not a lot of particapation in some of the events. I think there were only 3 bronc riders, two or three stree wresters, and not to many team ropers, but there were 18 bull riders and she knows about that event. She had a blast, and that made my night. We'll probable go again next year...

Great show. There was always something exciting going on. It was great watching so many world champions. The animals were beautiful and talented. The announcements over the speakers were often hard to understand. I don't know if it was due to the quality of the speakers or due to the announcers talking too loud or being too close to the microphone. Since the purse isn't very large- the big names just don't make it to this rodeo. Participants are below avg to avg at best on skill level. $75 for VIP & $25 is a little steep for less than 2 hrs entertainment. With 20 min prayer/song/opening & random clown acts- rodeo it self was prob only about an hour. Seems to cost more every year for less entertainment. We'll re-think before spending $200+ next year.

This was our first ever rodeo and concert at Tingley. I took my 21 yo daughter and we both had a a great time. We enjoyed the rodeo and loved the respect shown for God and our country. Some of the jokes delivered by the announcer and the clown were slightly offensive though. Julianne's show was also very fun. We went down onto the floor to watch the show and that made a huge difference in our comfort. The chairs in Tingley are extraordinarily uncomfortable. Nowhere to put my knees and legs. Julianne was energetic and wholesome. Even though I couldn't understand the words of her songs due to the terrible acoustics in the building, we still had fun watching her and her band and listening to the music.

If you like rodeo, this is one of the finest, becasuse you have the top 24 cowboys in the world in each event and some of the best stock in rodeo. By Puyallup putting up $500,000 in prize money they have the best cowboys in America. It is one of best rodeos you will ever see. The announcers were really great and kept the rodeo fun and entertaining. If you are looking for the best rodeo in Washington this is it..

This was the worst stock I've ever seen. More that half of the bucking horses would not leave the chutes, except for the one that jumped half way out (and then he just laid down when they got him turned around). All of the Steers were problems, the cowboys were having to wait as much as 3 minutes for the stock owner to get them ready in the chutes and then most would stop or veer away when released ( been used way too much). Sound system was very poor so that the announcer was unintelligible, and then he had to drone on because of the poor stock to fill time. Finally, the arena was too small, as evidenced by the number of horses that refused to make the turn at the first barrel, and only two successful team ropings due to the short arena and poor stock.

I thought the Rodeo was a blast and the cowboys and entertainment was fabulous. But there is so much that could have been better from a first time rodeo visitor's perspective. None of the technology within Pinnacle was utilized properly: 1) the sound stunk - you could not hear or understand the announcer 2) the scoreboard could have been used to give statistics, backgrounds, highlights, profiles of the riders, awards and so much more. 3) Camera's could have shown what was actually going on in the pits while they prepared for the ride 4) Scorekeeping manually - really? I don't even have to keep score while bowling. 5) Retail sponsorship was horrible: I would have shopped Hats, Boots, Tshirts, etc. I would have loved to see Tractors, ATVs, and other equipment could have lined the hallways just like Dodge did. I loved it but you could have done such a better job with stepping up your game.

I have attended the PRCA rodeo in Lincoln for many years, when it was previously held at Pershing. I could not believe the poor attendance at the Pinnacle Arena. I think it was because tickets were very expensive. For 2 adult tickets I paid over $100. It's ridiculous to advertise a $32 ticket and add in $20 worth of extra fees. Also, the announcing was very poor. You could not hear him and then he very rarely announced any scores. I love the rodeo, but this was not a top performance. I would recommend the rodeo to anyone, but I hope the quality of the announcer improves and there is a better price for tickets.

First of all... The seats suck! Can't y'all make just a little bit wider seat or is it just about the money??? Second... The rodeo was REALLY good! I'd say it was better than the San Antonio Rodeo! Last of all, Dwight Yoakam... Loooove his music and he was good but the band/sound was louder than him singing. If I didn't know the song he was singing, I couldn't understand him.

First time I've ever been to this rodeo and facility and was totally impressed with the quality of livestock and the range of events offered for an indoor facility. Appreciated the range of activities for kids that weren't interested in sitting there for 2 hrs just watching and vendors available that had a variety of items to offer. Facility was clean and the personnel very friendly and helpful. Can't think of anything negative to say about this rodeo or the facility / town and I truly enjoyed having the opportunity to watch an actual rodeo during the cooler months. Hoping to make this trip to the north an annual event. :)

The PRCA Rodeo and Chuck Wicks were both great and I had a great time. The seats in Tingley Coliseum were not the most comfortable, but the rodeo itself was great. I was very disappointed with the performane of Julianne Hough. I thought that her concert would have been more country music then hard rock. Hi, I hadn't been to the rodeo in a long time, so this was a real change. Some things are better, but there are other things that I wasn't thrilled about. First for the things I liked -- the sound system is good, and I liked that the MC who was giving the details on the rodeo contestants was entertaining, and polite to the audience. I liked that he mentioned God in a positive way. I hope that it never becomes politically incorrect to say "God Bless You", or to mention God in a positive way in the rodeo. It's part of our heritage that I do not want to give up. The events were enjoyable to watch, and the selection of animals for the event seemed to be extremely challenging for the riders. It would have been nice to see them finish an event. The rides went so fast because they couldn't stay on the animals they were riding...which was a little disappointing. THeir skills I'm sure are excellent, but it was just a bad night I guess. Part of the enjoyment of the events is seeing the riders complete their event. I didn't like all the jokes that were made about sex and viagra, etc. That was in bad taste in my opinion. You have to realize that you have young children in these events too, and it's not appropriate in my opinion. The entertainment portion with Chuck Wicks was nice, the intermission music was not. Too loud, and just not enjoyable. Pick something that is more 'western' and not so hard rock. Chuck Wicks has a nice voice, but you couldn't hear the words well..it was loud, but not clear. Does that make sense. We had to leave early to catch our bus, which was also disappointing. I suppose it would have been better to bring our own vehicle, but the parking issues are so great and mean walking so far, that it was just not what we wanted to have to do at the end of the event. The food was good in the booths, glad that you are including local restaurants that are higher quality. Thank yo for that. I wish you had had milk for the kids though and not just soda. THe people at the gates and inside were very polite. The other thing that was not enjoyable is the seating, my knees were right up against the seat in front of me, it's just not very comfortable to sit in those chairs. Wish you would redesign that place with better seating space.

The rodeo portion of this event was TERRIFIC and neither my wife nor I are into that sort of thing. The rodeo was entertaining, fun, and surprisingly educational for us. The cowboys and cowgirls worked hard to put on a good show, the announcer was great, and the clowns were reasonably funny. Some of their material wasn't really funny. We thought Julianne Hough was terrible. At times it sounded like her and the band were on different sheets of music and at other tmes it sounded as though she were screaming to be heard over the band, which was very loud and echoed off the walls in Tingley Colisseum, which has never been the greatest concert venue in the world. Her attempts to interact with the fans seemed phony to us. As we were leaving the concert (early), I told my wife, "Julianne should go back to Dancing With the Stars." I also told her, "We just spent about $30 to find out we don't want to buy Julianne's CD."

It was cancer awareness night at the State Fair Rodeo and followed by the Diamond Rio Concert. It was also the first rodeo for my 5 and 2 year old grandsons. It was a big hit. The bullriding, broncos, clowns, calf roping was everything they could have hoped for. The pink confused the 5 year old. He thought the cowboys with the pink chaps were clowns riding horses! What a great evening topped off with a wonderful concert by a talented band. I love their songs.

The music was way too loud and the sound acoustics in the Tingley coliseum are terrible. It was really hard to enjoy the performance. We left after about 5 songs because it was too hard to really hear the music.

The combination of Diamond Rio and the PRCA rodeo at Tingley absolutely rocked. Both shows were incredible!!! I took my daughter for her birthday and he loved it! What a great experience for both of us.

Staging any event is absurd at the Tingley Arena. a. Those seats at Tingley are torture! No other word describes it! An obse lady sat behind me and her belly was so fat that it hung down her front and flopped down so far that it lay partially on my shoulder. Finally after seats emptied out for the music performance, she moved. I should ask you for reimbursement for my neck treatment because of it. THE SEATS ARE WAY TOO SMALL FOR THOSE OF US OF NORMAL SIZE NOT THE 50% OBESE PATRONS WHO SQUEEZE THEMSELVES IN TO THE TINGLEY SEATS AND LIVE HERE IN New Mexico. b. Next, the sound systems sucks - mp other word describes it. II could not hear for several hours after I left the arena and I was not the only one complaining. The same sound system must have been used for the rodeo announcer because he was so loud I had to keep covering my ears and I could not understand a word he had to say too. c. The rudeness of the patrons around me was appalling. There were several groups around me that in spite of the loud music (I use that term lightly) droned on in their loudest voices about their lives for the past 6 months. Three conversations were going on at the same time and that coupled with the too loud sound system was enough to hospitalize anyone ! I know that ignorance and rudeness and stupidity cannot be cured but some announcement to tell these boors that some people come the the venue to try and be entertained by the headliners, not hear their non-stop boorish, childless ramblings for the entire performance. Oh yes they were continually guzzling beer and they got giddier as they guzzled the beer. One nearly fell as she got a refill. Lastly, she put both of her legs over the seat back next to me and kept time with the music by stomping her feet on the seat thus jarring my seat to the tune of the music for nearly the entire performance. The patron in that seat had to move to get away from the "ladies" because they spilled their beer on his back. No one was around to report these antics to either. I tried to find someone. Some crowd control is needed and very necessary.

venue continues to look better and better every year! My hat's off to the group of folks who keep everything looking very neat and clean. It seems like the transition of people from the regular bleacher seats to the stadium field for the concert was kind of poorly run. There were tons of folks standing around trying to get down to the dirt area and it looked like a "one-by-one" process of checking for authorizied access. Why not have folks line up down in the tunnel below the stadium and have multiple ticket checkers on the east end of the tunnel to let people flow in from that side only? I'm sure it could be figured out and it would keep all the folks from milling around on the walkways in the middle of the stadium. The rodeo was probably the worst one we've seen at the State Fair in many years. It seemed like the contestants were of a "second tier" of skills and abilities compared to prior rodeos we've attended, with much anticipation, I'll add. Was there some type of budget cut that caused fewer cowboys to show up? The Billy Currington show was just fine. a bit hard of hearing so I had some trouble hearing the singer, but all the folks down on the floor and in the stands seemed to enjoy the whole show.

I liked when a little girl went up on stage & gave him flowers & a hug it was her birthday, he then said how special that was since that rarely happens to him. He "Thanked" her for doing that. Truly he seems touched by that. I hope he comes back again. Thanks for the great line up that was brought this year. I know we will go back next year.

I was not impressed with the Billy Currington concert what so ever. Actually, I was quite disappointed. He sang songs that no one had even heard of, now thats no fun. And ok, if your going to sing older songs, at least pick the good ones. I would not recommend this concert to anyone. Also, it didnt last very long. We were home by 10:30? and that is after walking to the car, and fighting traffic! tisk tisk.... I guess I learned my lesson.

I've always enjoyed Billy Currington on TV/radio, so was looking forward to this concert. Unfortunately, it was advertised as starting at 7, but actually didn't start until after 9:00, due to the rodeo first. This is the Fair's fault - they need to separately advertise the start times of the musicians and the rodeo. The sound seemed as if it was set up by and for heavy metal junkies. Currington has a great voice, but you'd never know it from last night's sound. It was all about bass, drums, and other low notes. The sound guys need to figure out that not every concert should be wired for heavy metal!!!

Three of us who saw the show were very upset that the sound system was so excruciatingly loud that we couldn't hear a word that julianne was singing or even saying when she spoke. the sound system was so loud that it totally distorted everything, and the band drowned out her singing. We were very disappointed in what would have been a great show if not for the painful noise......but we love julianne hough, although we would not have gone if we had known that the sound would actually be so horrible.

We really enjoyed the entire Rodeo show, especially my wife since this was her first rodeo ever. And we were looking forward to seeing Juliane Hough. We are both fans of country music and "Dancin' With The Stars " TV show. Julianne looked great, but the band was way too load and we had to leave after the third song. The music was drowning out Julianne's voice, you could hardly hear her. The rodeo itself was worth the price of the tickets.
