From the transport to and from the venue which the promoters had down seamlessly, to the amazing music and everything in between, we had a fantastic time and look forward to flying down and going to Jazzfest again!! It s well worth the trip!! The food, crafters, Native American dancers...everything was just done so well. What a fun day!! You have to go to Jazz Fest to fully grasp how big it is!!

Great music, large crowds, rude people. For those of us sitting, we don't understand those people who just walk up and stand in front of us. Specially when there is a whole standing group in the front. Do they leave their manners at the gate?

Saturday was the best!! I've been to Jazz Fest several times in the past - but each time gets better and better! Wasn't too hot since it was overcast and of course the rain held off! The mud was unbelievable - worse that I've ever seen it!!! Anyway - my favorite? COWBOY MOUTH!!! I originally went for Simon & Garfunkle (a group from my college days!) and they were good. Better Than Ezra is always amazing and we heard some really good blues! (Not sure about the names here) Going back next weekend - JEFF BECK!!

The Jazz Fest was great as usual. Ledisi and Drake put on great shows. The food was good and rich as it is every year. We had on our rubber boots and were prepared for the mud. Aside from the people that decided to play in the mud, everything was AWESOME!!

On the performers, they did a great job of entertaining the audiences and I feel nothing short of giving their best effort. I felt the event host could have done better job of getting more tents out given the day I went was wrecked by a thunderstorm

Maybe the best Jazz Fest performance I have seen. Great guests, incredible musicians and Levon Helm's spirit and attitude are wonderful; he was more excited than the crowd or any of the other musicians.

Honestly I'm not a big jazz fan nor the type to go to music concerts, this was a something to do while in New Orleans for a short vacation. I must say I had a lot of fun, mainly eating and just chilling while the bands play. With crawfish bread in one hand and a beer in the other, and with the anticipation of having a mango freeze later, I was a happy camper. I was probably at the event for less than 3 hours before the rain came pouring down. It definitely sucked but the people around us, made it so much more worth it. The crowd at the jazz fest are very nice and welcoming, though it could just be the southern hospitality.

I have been waiting a very long time to see my all-time favorite artist, Paul Simon, and this concert lived up to my expectations. I am more in love with him now than I have ever been. It was sad to hear Garfunkel's voice going, but that happens - he still sounded fine. It was great to see Simon so supportive of Garfunkel during a difficult time. It was fun standing in the mud, too! I felt very Woodstock-wanna-be.

There's not a bad act in this lineup on any day, and what an outstanding deal (even at the gate price, well worth it). Lionel Ritchie stole our hearts - but every tent was outstanding.

Jazz Fest was awesome and well worth the money. The stages are set high off the ground which gives the entire audience a great view of the performers. The variety of music makes this event appealing to every kind of music taste. I would recommend this event to everyone! The food was pricey (as expected) but oh so good. The only downfall would be the extremely pricey souvenirs and extras.

First time doing the VIP thing at Jazz Fest. We didnt use the Krewe section much on Friday, festival wasn't jam-packed, so no need to be so far away. nice thing was the bathrooms were generally clean and available, beer truck free and we had a shaded seating section, open to sit whereever in our grandstand. it is pretty distant to the stage, but it was low key, chairs were comfortable and we had plenty of room. Saturday was more crowded so it was nice to be in the stands sitting, though if one preferred to sit on the lawn, there was space ( be it crowded ) Sunday it was rained out till the afternoon, so we didnt get to take advantage...(sadly) one big drawback was that we only had one stage(ACURA) for this VIP experience, and I felt it was a bit pricey for what we "got"

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is much more than its music. And there is much more music than you might imagine. Twelve stages, some rock show stadium size, some little tents, with every size in between. Jazz, blues, zydeco, rock stars, Mardi Gras Indians, Cuban son septetos, R&B stars now in their 70's, piano players in their 80's, Second Line marching brass bands. The food is, as is true throughout the Big Easy, extraordinary. The atmosphere is state fair or circus grounds, but the food stalls are gourmet Cajun and Creole, and then there are daquiri shacks, iced tea booths, and beer coolers and booths. Craftspeople and artists from all over Southern states are presenting their work for sale. A CD store is stocked with everything from Louis Armstrong to Kermit Ruffins, Irma Thomas to Trombone Shorty. The NOLA Fair Grounds are huge and every space is full. Stevie Wonder had a crowd of 50,000 standing, dancing and singing along. Aaron Neville sang "When The Saints Come Marching In". Amen. Take the Canal Street streetcar to City Park and walk the half mile to heaven.

The whole day was disappointing. We went the second Saturday from out of town to see Stevie wonder. It rained all day, and the horse track where they hold it flooded, basically making several rivers of horse manure. We stuck it out until it was time for all the headliners, only to hear the announcement that all of the sound equipment malfunctioned, and that Jazzfest was canceled for the day. I don't know if the electrical equipment could have been better protected (they continued Sunday despite just as much rain), but in summation, I paid a lot of money for a big letdown.

Well, this was the weekend that was rained out. Still, I was able to sing and hear music from this year's host country; eat two of my favorite foods: Indian fry bread and gourmet gumbo and hear a bit of Gregory Porter. Unlike last weekend, when people were pushed out of the aisles, I was able to awkwardly sit on a side aisle on the floor until the flood waters inched in. I was amazed when the foundation offered to allow Saturday visitors to return on Sunday with their weekend ticket. I did not take them up on the chance although I was tempted. This is the first time that Ive ever heard of such an offer and I was pleased to hear it.

Unfortunately our experience at Jazz Fest was cut very short due to an unforeseen torrential downpour. The little bit of time we did spend on the festival grounds was great and I would still recommend anyone interested in attending to do so! Furthermore, the Jazz Fest organizers did let everyone know that their Saturday tickets would be reusable for the following day (unfortunately our group only had Saturday to dedicate to the festival).

The band line ups were great, unfortunately the organizers have not learned their lesson in location. It is terrible, year after year. Parking is a mess, trying to see the headliners were so packed you couldn't move. Just a terrible experience. I would not recommend it to anyone. If you have a favorite band, then just go see them in concert.

First of all, I have to say, New Orleans is one of the COOLEST cities I have ever had the privilege to go to. I'm so glad I had this opportunity to go, and after seeing it I think everyone should visit at least once in their lives. The culture in NOLA was so awesome, and I really loved all of the residents there. Jazz Festival was on another level as far as concerts go. Seeing all of the bands that went, besides the main three I went to see, were really unique and very talented artists. The craft tents were also very amazing, and every tent I passed by or went in had its own vibe and celebration going on. It really is an amazing place to be.

The New Orleans Jazz Festival 2016 was great! We went for 2 days and listened to New Orleans styled Jazz, blues, big band sound, improvisational jazz, classic rock, funk, zydeco, power jazz with many horns, r&b, gospel, and reggae. Pearl Jam and Van Morrison were good. The greatest treats were Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs, and Steely Dan. There are several tents with stages, each tent with it's own genre. Chairs are set up in the tents. There are outdoor stages that can collect more people. Usually you can set up your own folding chair if you don't mind sitting a little further away from the stage. People nearer have to stand. Pearl Jam and Steely Dan were at the largest outdoor stage as the closing act on the two evenings. It is standing room only, except for the bleachers which cost extra. We met several people at the event. Almost all of them have been before and come back every year.

Friday was great- awesome shows great stages- but Saturday and Sunday the crowds were out of line huge. I kinda can't believe I subjected myself to the torture- but music- hey. So if considering Jazzfest know a few things: 1: you will never be able to see everything but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. It just means that you will inevitably miss at least part of an act so you can hear just one more song from your fave band. 2: the grounds can be stupid crowded so prioritize your day accordingly. I prefer shows on the gentilly stage to the Acura stage but that's because the crowds at Acura are always huge and annoying 3: don't forget the lagniappe stage. There's a lot of great stuff there. 4: don't like crowds don't go. Don't mind crowds then have fun and don't let the press of people get you down or discourage you. 5: listen to people and music you don't know. It's all great.

Love NOLA Jazz Fest! I have been going for years and this year we made the first weekend (outstanding as always) and made an impromptu trip for the second Saturday to catch Elton John. While Jazz Fest, overall, is a phenomenal event (five stars all the way), this review touches on the problems of headlining music royalty like Elton John while sticking to the same playbook. The crowds were so MASSIVE that it really affected the experience and vibe (overheard too many heated exchanges about personal space -- a lot of pushing and shoving going on). Planners would best serve the fest and attendees by coming up with a game plan when expecting larger than usual masses. An example, more portables; the lines were excessively long (the day was warm and folks were hydrating), by end of day the portables had no paper, were full and overflowing. As fest veterans, we stuck to our usual venues and still had a fabulous time. Would have loved to have seen Elton but getting into the crowd would have diminished my overall experience...and who wants to leave Fest on a sour note? Happy Festing!

Elton John was amazing from what I could hear and see from the teleprompt due to a poorly placed port-o-let. I arrived at 11:30 with friends, and it was already packed. We squeezed into an area but my friends left by 1pm. About halfway through Elton's performance they turned up the volume, which was good since TI was bleeding over loud bass from the Congo stage. The event was extremely oversold and I may plan my next trip around the music at the smaller stages. I also would have liked to see Ed Sheeran but he was scheduled during Elton John. I did wander over to the Blues tent for a short time, but it was difficult to move around with so many people. Cheapest ticket I ever paid for Elton so I guess I should not complain.

Our first since Katrina, but we attended every one from 1984 through 2001. Larger size and more catering to guests from both coasts led us to make this a less frequent activity. Has to be someone special, and Springsteen was fantastic. one of his remote stages was less than 10 yards from us.

Jazz Fest is the only festival I know where the food and the music are equally great! This year's closing act John Fogarty was one of the best musical experiences I can remember....."Green River", "Proud Mary," "Fortunate Son".... Just a start of a fantastic evening. And food? The crawfish strudel is the best, followed by oyster, catfish, or shrimp poboys. It's amazing. Each year we see a musician we have not previously followed- this year Robert Earl Keen and Roy Rogers. We will be looking for them again.

The concert by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at the Jazz Festival in New Orleans was just too short for real Boss fans. The main set was only one and a half hours and without sign requests. However, a surprise was the performance with John Fogerty and his song Green River and Proud Mary at the encores. I was there before the opening of the gates and was able to run the first row behind the pit reach. Because you could only enter the Pit without a very expensive ticket, that was for the whole weekend of the pit entrance. For real Springsteen fans who just wanted to see his concert just very bad. So in the pit were hardly any real Springsteen fans to see and the atmosphere also a total front of the stage was not all about particularly. All in all, just an average show of the boss. The other concerts that I saw of him on the U.S. tour were better.

I hadn't been to the Jazz Fest since Hurricane Katrina. I had been a little skeptical about returning. I had the best time ever! The setup was perfect...the lineup of artists was great and the food was phenomenal! I am definitely going to start coming back every year again.

The festival was very organized. The staff were very friendly\u2026helpful and fun. I was glad I was in the stadium seating. It was packed. I had never been to any concerts like this, I loved Santana, his wife did an off the hook drum solo for about 20 minutes. It was great. Getting to and from the seats was good. The other groups that played were great too. Irma Thomas was great to see her. It was great to see Eric Clapton. All in All I really enjoyed myself. I hadn't been to New Orleans in a long time. It was easy to get around the Big Easy!. I would come again.. The weather was perfect.

I've been to a lot of music festivals, and Jazz Fest is unlike any other, even the other festivals held in New Orleans. Jazz Fest has a way of showing off the beautiful culture and heritage of New Orleans, that you just might not have seen just visiting the city. And the day is packed full of local talent and delicious food! Not to mention the shows the big name acts put on - Phish was phenomenal!! Oh but a warning - there is little to no shade, and it can be VERY hot. Bring lots of water and wear lots of sunscreen!

The Grand Marshall pass is the best, I saw Santana, Robert Plant, Phish, Clapton and others all front center. No lines, private air conditioned rest rooms and space to move around. I would highly recommend The Grand Marshall pass to all.

I hadn't been to the Jazz Fest in years - and boy have I missed it. So much talent - music, art. Got to see a wonderful group, the Shotgun Jazz Band, and spent most of the day rockin it in the Blues Tent. John Cleary was one of my favorites! Of course, the ultimate treat was seeing Boz Scaggs - who put on an amazing blues/jazz set. AND, to top it off - he was joined on stage by the legendary Allen Toussaint - who accompanied Boz on Hercules and What's a Girl to Do. Bliss!!!!! Loved the whole funky vibe of the day. Oh, did I mention the amazing food. Who could ask for more?

We had no idea what to expect attending this event at the invitation of friends. It was fabulous! Big name performers (Santana, Robert Plant, Boz Scaggs, & lesser known, yet excellent performers - The Tremme Brass Band The Incredible Stringdusters) at various stages around the fairgrounds. All for the one admission price! Loads of LA food available, picnic areas, grass to sit on, misters in the tents & great shuttle buses to the French Quarter. This is a wonderful event with high class performers. It is well organized, facilities are good and everyone was having a great time. We would highly recommend this event! Will be going back next year!

I have been to Jazz Fest six times now and this was the worst weather ever in the history of the Fest. In spite of that the crowds came to hear the amazing music and the awesome food. I especially liked Little Big Town and Trombone Shortie. For food, Crawfish Monica. You can't get this type of entertainment anywhere else but New Orleans.

They don't say it on the website, but the event is hosted at a race track. When it rains it becomes muddy and it stinks at horse excrement. You won't find a place to sit at open stages. Bring foldable chairs and possibly an umbrella. The music is amazing!

Show was great took pictures all day, but when Fleetwood Mac played they said if I took another picture, I'd be kicked out. The event is flawed. Allow cameras or don't allow cameras But to let me use it all until the headline is crazy They said no audio or video recording, every IPhone was allowed to take pictures (even security pulled out his Iphone) but everyone was doing. But my old school camera with Lens was no good.

First time to N.O. Jazz & Heritage Fest 2013 and would definitely do it again! Pity about the weather we went Friday, 3rd May so heavy rains on day before so place was very mucky. Event organisers should prepare more for adverse weather conditions and have more matting put down, no straw anywhere. I travelled from Dublin, Ireland so international travellers with luggage restrictions try to pack for all kinds of weather and be practical. Otherwise, event was well organised with shuttles to the venue from downtown. The Performers were amazing, very professional and on time and I found the website and apps for the Jazz Fest were great in planning inadvance what acts I wanted to see. Worked out very well with so many stages and performers, not to mention people.

i really just went to see Phoenix, but the festival itself was great too....lots of people, art stands, good food, and good music..the only thing that was a bother was the mud. the festival is held on (i think) a horse race track, so it was really muddy from the rain.

We went to Jazz Fest specifically to see Maroon 5. My sister and I are a big fan of Adam's. We watch him every week on the voice. The band did great! I'd LOVE to see them in concert!! I'm sure I'm not the only one wishing they would have a show at the arena in New Orleans! Overall Maroon 5's performance was definitely one of the best performances I have seen!! Great job guys!!! Much love!!!! :)

I absolutely love New Orleans, and go to Jazz Fest every single year. Even though it had rained on a few days before we went, and some areas were muddy. It was not a problem for us. We avoided the muddy areas. The weather on the last Sunday of Jazz Fest that we attended was beautiful. Sunny skies and around 70 degrees, which is quite cool for New Orleans in May. All the music was amazing. We saw Mardi Gras Indians second lining. Our favorite music of the day was the brass bands, John Boutte in the Jazz tent, James Andrews in the Blues tent, Black Keys (who rocked it) at the Acura stage, and Trombone Shorty closed out the day & the fest on the Acura stage. Don't even get me started on the food: cochon de lait poboy, mango freeze, pheasant & andouille gumbo, shrimp macques choux, fry bread, peach cobbler, jambalaya, sweet potato pone, etc. All delicious! I only regret I didn't have a chance to eat more. Such as crawfish Monica and bread pudding.

The shows were great, but it's impossible to watch them all, so sometimes it's kind of Sophia's choice. Sorry about the weather. I was there at 04/28 and 05/03. It rained a lot at the first date and there was a lot of mud at the second. Besides that, everything was great. Great shows: Dianne Reeves and Maroon 5. A little disppointed: BB King (I had great expectations, my mistake). The rain stopped me: David Mathews and Earth, Wind & Fire.

This year, I went 5 out of 7 days. Go to be surprised and astonished, don't go to get drunk and be rude. The crowd is well behaved and musically hip. Make sure to bring rain boots , tarp and a back pack with a poncho . I'll never miss this event as long as I live!

Best Jazzfest lineup ever! BTE, DMB, Neville; Marc Broussard, Tab Benoit; Maroon 5, Phoenix, Otrha, Fleetwood Mac, THE Black Keys, to name a few, and wrapped it all up with Trombone Shorty... amazing!!!

Over the weekend the assortment of shows was great. Artists ranging from local to big name that you want to see. Good venues for seeing them and sound was great for a festival setting. Biggest problem was last day during rain, they cut the shows short, especially the DMB show. After being in the rain for two hours, they should have let him finish, bullshit move by jazz fest operators. Skeptical of return when the reason I go is in jeopardy by bad decision making. Even DMB posted an apology of Facebook page. It was definitely the fest. What concert would you want to go to where the last 30 / 45 min is cut. Think about watching a show, 2/3 through set they unplug the amps and walk off. Doesn't sound like much until you experience it. Feels like you got jobbed.
