Outstanding show! Rival sons didn t leave anything on the table and ensured to give their love and appreciation to the audience. And the opening act Stone Horses really brought it out from the first note - way to go! The Queen is a great place to see a gritty rock and roll show!

This show was amazing. Rival Sons is the best Rock 'n' Roll band I've seen in years! Jay's soulful voice combined with Scott's awesome guitar tone is awesome. They were gracious enough to stay after the show and meet their fans.

This is an AMERICAN rock band in it's classic form. Like a fine built American muscle car there is no denying it's appeal, power or sheer awesomeness. It is a crying shame that they are much more popular abroad than here in their home country. Anyway, This was the second show in NYC and it ROCKED! The set last ,although heavy on their new LP The GREAT WESTERN VALKERY, was all killer no filler. This is the band's fourth LP and I believe their most cohesive one to date. they seem to be hitting their stride. The audience was filled with people that obviously had all to the LP's and brand new fans as well. I personally brought four people with me that had NO Idea what the band was about and now are Rival Sons fans. There are NO flash pots or lasers, just groove heavy rock and roll.It is about the music after all. Besides the rockers the band has many blues rooted power ballads. I am not talking Motley Crue's "home sweet home". Think more like Led Zeppelin's "Rain Song" or "Thank You" . These ballads are extremely well crafted works of art and often highlights of the show. The band (ten year veteran Road Warriors) are fronted by Jay Buchanan (probably the best singer you will ever see live) his vocals can shake your spine. I am a concert veteran and have seen many performers and this cat can sing! Next Scott Holiday lead guitarist and riff master. As the only guitarist he is quite busy but never misses a beat. He has an arsenal of catchy tasteful riff scattered throughout all the songs.Scott has a look and style all his own and always seems to be having a great time on stage. The drummer Mike Miley (the second front man) is in one word Unbelievable. Bonham like fills. Keith Moon like danger and chops that will stand up against anyone. A hard guy not to watch. New bassist Dave Beste helps keep the bottom firmly secured on this runaway train. Dave stepped into this role halfway through the tour for the last LP and he has fit right. NOT an easy task!!! In short, Thank You to the RIVAL SONS for giving the next generation a chance to see a YOUNG real ROCK BAND. Go see them, take your kids, take your friends and show them what rock and roll is supposed to sound like.

The Rival Sons are the best rock n roll band out there...period. With a combination of raw power and catchy hooks, the Sons deliver an unrelenting wall of sound. Scott's guitar is unique and Jay's voice blows everyone away. This is the fourth time I've seen them and probably the best...Why they aren't bigger here in the States is beyond me..

Best live act I've seen since i can't remember when. Buy their albums, listen to them and spread it around. The only chance there is of them returning is networking. There's no way a band like this is going to get any corporate sponsorship for touring unless the underground buzz gets their attention through cd/download sales. I bought two t shirts just to support the band and wish i had had a few more bucks in my pocket to buy more!. They're the best newer rock band on the planet right now and should be getting WAY more attention. Somebody in the marketing department at the label needs to get their ass in gear and get these guys some exposure because they're that good. I will be out to see them as much as possible, period.

Stellar, kick your teeth in show, not crowded out to the steps.Sound was great, vocals+all instruments were real clear. It was a real good move changing the show from the Shelter to St Andrews, but a real B.S. deal not letting anyone sit up on the mezzainine unless you paid a $20 "upgrade!" Naturally the U.S. market is still eluding them. I hope for continued success for this band and a larger tour in the U.S. next time around. Five stars, rock is not dead!

This band is beyond awesome. The music touches my soul. Jay is the lead singer and the way the music takes over him is something to see. I have met them outside of the show and they are all some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Very down to earth and so very thankful to their fans. These guys will be huge very soon in the states. I've been waiting quite a while for the Sons to tour this part of the country. They have been touring the UK and EU quite a bit playing huge festivals and larger stadiums and clubs, so I wasn't hopeful that i'd ever get to see them live. To my surprise and delight, I found their latest US tour coming to Boston, which is pretty local for me! on top of that, they played a pretty intimate club with about a 250 person capacity! So not only did I finally get to see them, but it was a spectacular experience! As far as the performance, words can't really do it justice; you have have have to see the Sons play Live! The energy and power that you get just a hint of on their studio work comes through a thousand fold. Easily the best rock show I have seen in decades! Song selection was superb, playing a ton from their new album, but hitting all the ones I hoped for from their impressive catalog. Energy level was sustained for the entire 1 hour and 50 minutes they played, but balanced with chest pounding anthems like Electric Man, Get What's Coming and of course Pressure and Time offset with heart wrenching renditions of the emotional and sometimes ethereal delivery of Face of Light and Jordan. Bottom line, I couldn't get enough, and the give and take from the band with the small audience this venue afforded a rich and memorable experience that just proves further that Rival Sons needs to be headlining tours across this country on a regular basis - the audience and fans are here to support them!

I attend many live music events and as soon as I heard Rival Sons new album (Record of the Year, btw) I knew I had to see them in concert. Would they measure up to the album, I wondered? As soon as they hit the stage the anticipation had mounted to a fevered pitch and then WHAM! They knocked us all against the back wall and delivered song after song of magnificent hard rock. I have not seen a show this good in quite sometime and can't recommend this band enough.

I have seen many concerts in my lifetime, including big names like Iron Maiden, ACDC, Roger Water and more, but these guys my friends, are the best sounding band live I have ever seen. Rival Sons is a incredible band that is the best to come along in decades. I will never miss an opportunity to see them when they are in the area (or even close to Michigan). Couple that with holding the event at the State Theater (now named Filmore), and it just can't get much better. My only gripe is that this event was supposed to be held at St. Andrews so all tickets were general admission. When it was moved to the Filmore, we could not buy VIP tickets (which I would have done). But that is the only complaint...at least they were here and they sounded as great as ever!

The Teatro Fiasco Toure' was a multitude of music, emotion and talent! Opening act poet Derrick Brown was deep and refreshing. How original to boost the art of poetry with an opening willing crowd. Great job. Next Rivals sons would take the stage opening with pure rock n roll tenacity . Opening with their Title track to Hollow Bones. If you haven't seen the Rival Sons yet, you are depriving yourself of the best American Rock Band in decades. The Rival Sons are a force to reckoned with. The band is on it's second sweep of the US. Touring in support of their latest release : The Great Western Valkery. They have been on the road for this release since June of 2014. They are well weathered and firing on all cylinders. Like a well oiled machine they have been tearing down venues and leaving fans begging for more. I caught them on May 15 at Irving Plaza, NYC. From the opening chords of Electric Man to the singer's Jay Buchanan guttural howl on the opening line. The band grabs the audience and doesn't let go. Each member a skilled artisan in their own right. It is hard to pick which member to watch. It is easy to fall for the front man with his charm, and his seemingly endless vocal range. His generalship and command of the audience are second only to the emotion and soul in his voice. He is pouring every bit of his soul into each and every line Listen to Where I've Been (Great Western Valkery) and try not to get wrapped up in the emotion of the song. Axe slingers and folks hungry for true guitar players of years gone by have found the one who carries that torch in Scott Holiday. He serves up a sonic feast and never loses sight of the root of the song. On this particular round Mr. Holiday reared back and showed the kids how it's done, highlighting his skills in such concert favorites as Manifest Destiny and Torture. The later saw the band pay tribute to BB King with a killer version of The Thrill Is Gone, during the bridge of the song. On to the engine room, the rhythm section. New comer Dave Beste must be a magician practiced in slight of hand. He is laying down lines and grooves ala Jon Entwistle without ever breaking a sweat. Listen to his work on the track Open My Eyes (Great Western Valkery) and make your own call. The there is Michael Miley. Think if scientist took the DNA from John Bonham, Keith Moon, Bill Ward, Buddy Rich and Billy Cobham and added steroids. That is what it is like watching and listening to Mike Miley play drums. Like the rest of the band he never forgets the root of the song. It's heart , it's feel. If anything more times than not he is in fact that heart and soul I am speaking of. He has a big following of devotees playing air drums and watching his every move. It is his slinky and sexy drum line that really sells the opening number. You can always see him singing along and connecting with the crowd. He is the bands second front man. May be the fact that they all are smiling most of the time enjoying the ride as much as the fans, makes me like them so much They seem to really get on together and that chemistry comes through to the audience in a very organic almost accidental way The band gets a wrap from closed minded hipster critics that call them a throw back or retro. None of these comments can be made if the person stating that had seen this band live. The only thing throw back or retro about this band is its' integrity and approach. . They are a classic touring unit. A hard working rock band and I am old enough to know how this story usually ends... 3 or 4 sold out nights at Madison Square Garden....And I will be there in the front again!

Rival Sons is best rock band on the planet! Phenomenal show with a beautiful acoustic set to balance with the electric sets. These guys put on one of the best live shows you'll see. Scott Holiday is a master of tone and Jay Buchanan is one of the best rock vocalists out there. All these musicians are top notch! The lighting at this venue for all three bands was way too dark and really detracted from the performances. When a guitarist solos one usually wants to be able to see them. Black Stone Cherry was not a good match as an opener. less than impressive performance though they spent alot of energy running around.

I've never written a review for any band before, but after seeing Rival sons for the first time I felt I owed it to the band. I've been to many shows, but never had I been blown away like I was at Rival Sons. Jay Buchanan had by far the best vocals I have ever heard live. He put more into his vocal performance than I have ever seen, and put on a Janice Joplin like show. Scott Holiday's guitars sounded incredible, he is truly an underrated guitarist. I would highly recommend seeing Rival Sons live, if you want to attend amazing show that showcases the band's classic rock and bluesy sound. This band should be playing in arenas they are that good.

In only their second Boston appearance, Rival Sons solidified their claim as the premiere current classic rock torch bearers. Playing to a near capacity crowd at the Paradise the Sons stormed out with a trio of rockers from their latest album, played a short acoustic set, and ended with the one two punch of Open My Eyes and Keep On Swinging as the encore. Scott, Jay and Co. Leave no doubt that rock is not dead, contrary to popular belief.

If you have not heard Rival Sons yet, get your butt in gear. This is the best newer band to come around in a loooong time. They are somewhat of a second coming of Led Zepplin. I haven't heard a newer band this good since the original Stone Temple Pilots. The lead singer Jay is a great front man with an amazing voice and total stage presence. The guitar player Scott Holiday will rip your face off with his powerful sound. This band sounds much better live than on the recordings. The entire band is tight and they are all very talented musicians and singers. The venue was pretty cool. It's an old single screen movie theater. The front is standing room. I paid a few extra bucks and had VIP seats. whoo whoo, highfalutin lifestyle. VIP gets you in the area by the sound engineer in an area coralled off by a countertop. There are barstools for you high rollin lifestyle. It was actually pretty nice and I would spend the money again. This place is so intimate that there litterally is not a bad seat in the house. I will definately be back.

Concert was Awesome, but the venue didn't give us the signed posters as stated. Said they would contact me and company. Big doubts that will ever happen...

Rock n roll is not dead, as evidenced by Rival Sons. You don't want to miss these guys. Buy their music, listen, and you will understand. Their live performance was super-high energy, raw, yet somehow polished. Jay Buchanan's vocals were spot on; he is one of the best out there right now. This band as a whole is the "real deal." If you like 90s rock, classic rock, or if you like bands like The Black Keys, Muse, Black Crowes, Guns n' Roses, etc. then you will thoroughly like this band. Again, go see this band. You will be blown away.

Rival Sons certainly did Rock The Fillmore on Saturday. They came out & played well from the get-go. Go see them the next chance you can get. Let's hope they come back to the DC area some time soon.

How often do you see a band that you are almost completely unfamiliar with and you are captivated from the first song and smiling widely by the third? These guys are so tight, the singer so amazing and so great live that I felt like I was privileged to have been there. The 3rd song, SECRET was as good as it gets bringing me back to the 70's and Led Zep. Seriously, I thought to myself "this is what people must have felt seeing Zep for the first time in the 70's." Don't miss this show!!!

By far the best rock concert I have ever been to! The Rival Sons rocked the house plain & simple. If you look up "Rock & Roll" in the dictionary, there should be an entry that says "see Rival Sons". The Fillmore is a smaller venue but that gets you closer to the band :) Reasonable tickets and merchandise but the drinks are a bit on the expensive side. If you haven't seen Rival Sons at a live concert, then you haven't really lived. Go now and buy your tickets. Go!

Rival Sons put on a great show and are on their way up... and I think think way up. Their set list could use a little tweaking but I was very impressed and will always look forward to seeing this band.

I saw them in Solana Beach in San Diego last night. The singer is in his own world when he sings (in a good way). He is sort of in a trance. And man can he sing! He gives his all to every song, even at a small club like the Belly Up. The rest of the band fits this music style perfect (think Led Zep, Black Crowes, Trower, etc.). I am so happy to see a great rock and roll band that isn't overly produced and whose songs aren't all poppy sell-outs. If you like straight ahead hard rock and roll, you have to see them (and try to get as close to the stage as possible, to take in the world that singer Jay Buchanan is in and takes you into).

Awesome show! When you have a lead singer with a voice like that and a lead guitarist that can tear it up... you can get the crowd into right from the start and keep them until the end. It's a most see if you even "kind of" like one or two of their songs.
